Sleater-Kinney: Dig Me Out (1997)

Beck Did It Better Podcast 1997
About this episodeFinally!!! the Dunkin' Dutchman and Indie Rock...have come back...to Beck Did it Better, with the best podcast about Sleater Kinney and the 189th greatest album of all time, Dig Me Out.   Before we get to the album we dive into the nether regions of dynamic pricing at the Mustang Ranch, social events interrupting the big game, and some deviant art for all you UFC scum. We also prove that this is the best music podcast of 2024 when we talk jazz club etiquette, a family concert with AJR, and Bay Area food rappers.  Then if you hit the 15 second skip button 256 times to (1:04:00) it's enough to

[0:00]Why is 68 the speed of sex? Because at 69, you turn around. You didn't know that joke? I'll see you guys later. That was a quick one. I'm not going to lie. That was a real quick one. How many times in the next two weeks will Rob use that joke in public? This would be like climbing Mount Everest. And that'd be like, I'll go climb this smaller mountain. And if you want me to name a single smaller mountain in the world, I can. Mount Washington. Nailed it. I'm pretty sure there's a Mount Washington. Look it up. Hey. K2. Hey, guys, I went to base camp at Mount Rushmore. I was just sleeping in the parking lot. I was homeless. All right. I went to D-based camp, but we just listened to the Pixies. Oh, it's so hard to begin with. What a band. Listen, this is back. Oh, I just fell. We started the song. Guys, I should probably read the intro.

[1:00]In 2020, four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums decided by Rolling Stone magazine. Stop saying that. They might think it. This resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music, excoriated the order, and led us to make this podcast. We are far from experts who promise to do almost no research. All opinions are our own unless you disagree. Hey, you think people are pushing the 15-second skip button? I just thought of this for the first time during my intro. Hey, you fuckers. If you just hit the 15 seconds. If you just hit the 15-second skip button and you're hearing me right now, You piece of shit. You listen to the whole intro every time. What has happened more on the internet? People have jacked off to Rob or people have hit the 15-second skip. Aaron, what the hell is that all about? What are you talking about? We talked about this. Rob asked how many people have done that to him. He pleasured himself while thinking about Rob. Well, I thought this week a couple times about Aaron having sex and sending me a tape of it and me studying it. And then at the end, I throw the tape in the trash I put on my border board. I don't know. Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.

[2:00]Rob graduated from Aaron's sex school. Class of 68. Class of 68, Aaron, because it's 69 you turn around. Yeah. In 20... Oh, and guess what, you fuckers? Now you're going to get another intro, okay? All opinions are our own unless you disagree. Please sit back and enjoy. Beck did it better. We are all the way up to album 189. And from 1997, a band from Seattle. From Seattle, I wonder what kind of music this is. What are you, Chuck? You know what kind of music this is. Warren Moon, who was the starting quarterback in Seattle in 1997, knows what kind of music this is. Guys, I looked that fact up. I was shocked. The starting quarterback in Seattle was Warren Moon. It blew my mind. Hey, who's your favorite Seattle Seahawk? Oh, Warren Moon for sure. You know who definitely knew that? What I learned today. You know who definitely knew that Warren Moon? Only sickos who on their off time watch like old, random... Random sports shows. Like the 94 and stuff like that.

[3:00]Might just be working and just putting on some throwback sports. Well there's no baseball on yet, so I'm going to watch some 1994... This involves our thing. Aaron Texas today, his brother sent him a screenshot. He doesn't have time to Beck's us or call us. No, he's watching the... He's got time for this. Yeah, he's like, oh, Aaron, I got a job just like yours. Anyway, here's a screenshot from the 1997 NCAA finals that I'm watching on... Here's a screenshot from the 1997 NCAA finals that I'm watching on... Here's a screenshot from the 1997 NCAA finals that I'm watching on tape for some reason. What is going on, Aaron? What is going on? Why is your brother watching 1997 finals? Here's what's really insane. I didn't even bring this up on the text chain because I didn't want to upset anyone. But if you had noticed in that screen grab, there was a... Yeah, there was a maroon and gold sweatshirt. So it was a 1997 Final Four game. I can't find any record of this game ever happening. That's an unfortunate Kentucky... I'm not sure what it is. I just got what you're doing. You piece of shit. You know that bugs us. You know what, Aaron?

[4:00]The one time my dad and I were happy together. Aaron, dad, they're winning. You can be happy now. Dad, they're winning. I would say that to him. I'd say, dad, oh, they're doing well. Dad, Courtney. Courtney is doing so well. How about Miles Tarver? Dad, Miles Tarver, he's finally doing well. You don't have to be so angry. Sean Leonard. Look at him go. You know what the worst about this is? So I actually went to the NCAA tournament with Aaron. It was the first and second round. Yeah. And his team... Iowa State, Marcus Fizer, Jamal Tinsley playing at the Metrodome. It was a great time. We went up. We bought tickets for the whole first day. So it's all day Thursday. So four games in a day, two sessions. So you get to go grab a beer, grab some food in between. Aaron's team comes out number two seed in the tournament. And they're getting their ass whooped. They're getting put on them by some 15 seed. And we're giving Aaron shit. And he got so pissed. And he was so annoyed that we would not cheer for his team. And he was like, I don't know. And he got very angry with us.

[5:00]And I always felt bad about it until today when Aaron's like, hey, remember when the Gophers and their NCAA tournament didn't exist? It just didn't exist. I mean, I was looking it up. I don't know. But yeah, so the story is, Russell, you're getting all of these games mixed up. The 2000 team beat Chris Porter and Auburn in the second round. No, but it was close till halftime. You were not happy. You were cheering against your team. No, that's true. That part is true. And then the next year was the year they got beat in the first round. They got beat by Hampton. Yeah, that's true. For those of you that weren't 43-year-old males from Minnesota, The reason this joke exists is because the Timberwolves, or the Gophers, they may or may not have cheated really badly to get to where they are. So all those wins got expunged from their records. But I will come clean right now. I love to give you guys shit about this just to get under your skin. But Bobby Jackson is a top 10 player of all time for me in any sport at any level. That's a wild fucking statement. I love Bobby Jackson. I loved that. I just like to give you guys a hard time.

[6:00]In terms of favorites, not like greatness or whatever, but like guys that I love and would want to watch, he's up there, man. I feel like, Aaron, you used to be a tall sock guy when we would play pick-up basketball out. I think you were a tall sock guy. I bet that came from Bobby Jackson. It's 100%. It's true. He had great style, man. He's the Seahawks quarterback. Is this where we need to pick me up? What's the pick-me-up for this? This is a big surprise. You guys remember the two weeks ago? Last episode, guys, that was when I was wearing my powerlifting outfit. I showed you. Now you forgot what the big surprise was? God, that hurt so bad. We got to start getting through the edits quicker, Rob. I have no clue what we talked about for the last two weeks. I might have complete repeats. You're telling me. I just got to the part where you said, I'm a big shoe guy. And then I had to put all the echoes on it. Big shoe man. That's all I've been doing is humiliating. Matt sent a picture of his shoe closet. Immaculate. Can you imagine? After talking about those shoes, Matt was like, oh, yeah, here's a casual. Oh, I'm kind of a shoe guy, too. He sends a picture. He sends a picture of his closet. It is perfectly organized suits all in a row.

[7:00]Okay. Multiple gorgeous polished men's shoes matching right out front. And it made me realize I'm fucking worthless. I'm a fucking piece of trash human being because I not only do I not own shoes like that. Not only does my closet not look like that. My closet has like a big key on the bottom of it. My closet. I will never own shoes like that because I would not be able to take care of them. They would get dirty the first time I wear them. I would never take care of them. They would not look nice. I'm just not a nice shoe guy. And it makes me realize that I'm I'm walking. I'm a walking garbage can compared. What is your shoe care strategy, Matt? I mean, I've got my own polish kit. You know, you can see in that picture, but usually it's either at the gym, right? You know, I travel a lot. So when I'm at a hotel, I just use those nice white towels to just scrub those shoes down to make sure they're the white walls are good and all that. You know what I mean? Like. Can you imagine Matt's bathroom full of polished towels, just filthy brown towels?

[8:00]I mean, who knows? Can you imagine being the cleaners and they come in and they see Matt's towels are just covered in brown. They're probably like, Jesus Christ, not again. Why do we the age old question? Why do we use white towels as males? The best is when you guys stay in Vegas together and it's like just brown towels and Rob's pubes all over. Oh, my God. No, I had, I was a sad day, Russell. I had to do it at home the other day. No. Oh, did you at least tell everyone to please leave for a few hours? It was bad. Like you get done and it just is like, it's like you have a bath mat in the bathtub with you. Oh, well, I'll say there's, there's just shoe conditioner. You can just condition the shoes to keep them. There's polish. You got to keep the wall. You got to keep the white walls clean. So I do a lot of white wall cleaning more than anything, especially on the Jays. I was thinking about this when Matt sent that picture out. Cause we were talking. I think we were talking, Hey, Russ likes good shoes, but I've got a couple of

[9:00]Good pairs. Matt's got like, I would say probably 14 really nice pairs of shoes in his closet. Very nice. They're nice shoes. Cause they're not the Allen Edmonds one. They're not $500 pair. They're most of them are like Cole Han, but you've got a lot of nice pairs of shoes. You have, you also have nice tennis shoes, Matt. You've got slick looking shoes. You have Jordan's, you had all sorts of good stuff in there. But I was, when I was watching, I was like, this is one of those moments where I'm like, this is one of those moments where you think you're good at something. And then one of the people in your group is way better at it, but they don't say anything. It'd be like, if we said, it'd be like, if we sat here and you guys started talking about like eighties wrestling, I would just kind of feel bad for you, but I'd let you talk about it. But like, that's what I realized when I was like, I'm a shoe guy. And then I saw Matt's closet. I was like, I felt so inadequate. It's kind of like when you make fun of Brian from Woodbury, like his best athlete I know, but he sucks at golf, but if he took like two lessons, he would kick the shit out of you. Right. So I don't want to poke the bear.

[10:00]Just don't want to poke that. When I saw that picture of Matt's closet and then Aaron sent me that tape of him having sex, I was like, thank God Russell's on the podcast. You know what I mean? Like, thank God Russell's here. Russell. The worst part about the Aaron sex tape though, was definitely the bad wifi connection. It kept like breaking it out. Yeah. I can't believe he actually did get the carnival court tattoo on his ass. He just wouldn't tell us. He didn't get all up there in that asshole like that, but he did it, didn't they? Do you think his tape VCR is hooked to his wifi, Russell? I'm trying to think of how the technical chain of this works. I don't see why the wifi would affect the tape. That would be the worst though. If you're like, all right, it's time to make a porno with my wife. Then the wifi wasn't working and you're like, I need this for some reason. We got to reset this router. Physical media matters. Hey, just unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. I've been trying. That's why then you tried restarting your modem.

[11:00]I unplug it for 30 seconds and I think of mulch the next day. Oh my God. What? That's how I have to reset. The next day you're down at the flea market trying to buy an old reel to reel film. We're going to film like full physical media. We're not messing around with this digital shit anymore. Honey. Good news is the porno. We made it. It's great. Bad news. It's a reel to reel. It's going to take a long time to edit. Hang up a sheet in the attic, which is the only way I know people want to edit. We're going to watch reel to reels. I saw the fable men's. I know this works. What? Listen. Okay. We've got my new favorite bit of Russell. What? What are we talking about? We've got Slater Kenny with dig me out. Okay. We are going to Seattle. We're doing grunge. Right, girl. What are we calling it? Right. Girl. For sure. It feels like rock and roll to me. Indie rock. Like indie rock. We'll slide punk.

[12:00]I like some punk in there. Yeah. That reminds me of that band. I knew from Indianapolis. Indie rock. All right. So actually I was just getting off the plane. A Colts. I was getting off the plane. Yeah. I was at a Colts game and the guy next to me, he was eating a hot dog and he had like the hot dog. He had a full up of like onions and peppers and the same. And the guy sitting next to me is a huge guy sitting next to me. Huge. And he goes. I don't know. Oh, my God. And you smell. And I was like, oh, Indie rock. Oh, Peyton Manning. Because I wanted to. I think you might have forgot. I was at a Colts game. That joke took a while. Can you smell what Tom Moore, the offensive coordinator is? What team are we playing? Coach, can I borrow a painkiller? Oh, God. Wasn't that the owner? Who's addicted to painkillers? Who's the owner? Oh, hey. Russell. Russell, do the joke.

[13:00]Russell, do the joke. I'm very confused. Ask me. Rob can cut this in. Ask me. Say, who are the Colts playing? Hey, Matt, who is the best pacer of all time? It's who is the Colts playing? And then it says, it doesn't matter. Well, I could. That's the ref. Who is the best pacer of all time? Larry Bird. It doesn't matter who the best pacer is. Wait, it's Reggie Miller. It's not even close. What are we doing? Did he say Matt Harpring? He said Larry Bird. Of course, Matt would pick a fucking coach. A GM. President of Basketball Operations. He coached him in the finals. I've got two words for you. Duncan Dutchman. Rick Smits. You forgot me? Boy, Rick Smits. It was like, oh, yeah, we should get a Dutch guy to play basketball. Okay. Oh, okay. I hope his feet are all right. Yeah. Oh, yeah. The fearsome Dutch playing basketball. I mean, who's everybody? Like, hey, look out. This team is all Dutch. Oh, God.

[14:00]I bet they're really good at basketball. That happens in Northwest Iowa, man. Morris Orange City. They got a team. Yeah. Whole Western Christian. They won a bunch of titles. Yeah, but you guys are playing one-on-one basketball. That's right. That's how basketball is played in Iowa. It's one-on-one. Did you play your song or not? We got to play this or we got to move on to the next segment. Well, the next segment is the song, Russell. So we're in luck. Better hit it. Let's turn on the radio right now and listen. Is this a special surprise? This special surprise was last time and it hurts my feelings and you know that. Fine. Welcome to KROB, K-R-O-B. Excuse me. Sorry. I'm just sorry about that. I'm just I think I'm supposed to actually be up in front. Yeah, I'm just I'm just going to get ahead. Yeah, I see you're waiting, but I've got a lightning pass. Lightning pass for Aaron. He cuts ahead of people who are poorer than him. He never has to wait in line. He thinks a 10-minute wait is such a long. Time lightning pass for Aaron.

[15:00]He wants his kid to be a spoiled rich guy like him. There's a rich they don't care. This is a special line for people with Eames chairs. When you want to hear about. There's a special line at Disney for people with Eames chairs. But you're just too lazy to look. People with hair. Oh, yeah, I couldn't get. I just had my family in that one. I had to wait. I'm outside. Must be this not bald to ride. Oh, my God. Podcast for you, Jack. I want to say I did that. I did that song in one take. I mean, it was impressive. Was that the real parody song? You don't have a better one. Oh, my God. Russell. Who is this guy? Russell's wearing the glasses and the cowboy hat. Yeah, he's the intimidator. That's the best song you could come up with this week, Rob. And when the glasses are on if I bet if you turn around, guys, if you were in like a bathhouse somewhere and having sex with a guy and you turned around, it turned out the guy having sexy was the intimidator, Dale Earnhardt.

[16:00]That would be pretty wild, right? Because, like, a lot of guys are used to the intimidator kind of pulling up close behind them. Not like that. All right. So I got Rob. Rob doesn't really watch WNBA basketball, but loves his NASCAR from the 90s. And NASCAR sexy fan fiction, too, like that subgenre of NASCAR, all those people who've written those. OK, let's go through our list of the favorite NASCAR drivers we want to have sex with. Rob doesn't have time for a single WNBA game, but can watch every UFC fight that there is. Well, that might be true. Listen, that's not a sign of who you are as a person at all, is it? The worst part of watching the UFC is they are complaining about those salaries. They complain about those salaries, Rob. And they are so right wing that every time Trump comes in with Dana White, Trump walks in with Dana White, everybody cheers. They stand up and they cheer. And I'm like, oh. I'm like, is this who I am that I'm watching? Those are your people. I'm like, I'm watching it.

[17:00]I'm on Discord looking at people talk about it. I'm just like, oh, I'm scum what I mean? Like, I'm grouchy with my family when I have to hang out with them and not be watching it. It's just like, I'm the worst person alive. This is terrible. Listen, I've got three guys here, OK, who I just told them it's not Sleate or Kinney, all right? I knew we were all nervous about that, how to pronounce it. Raise your hand if you looked up how to pronounce the name of this band. OK. I've got Matt in Minneapolis. Matt, how are you doing? Good, Rob. All the voices on the text chain said, you wouldn't last a minute, bear. I don't know what that means. Oh. Russell a bear. I've got Russell. No, it was B-A-R-E. It wasn't B-E-A. It says B-A-R-E. Oh, it's like my bar class that I go to. Yeah. That was, well, Davy Crockett invited me to a bar class. You guys would not believe what happened. OK. He's like, don't worry, I did this when I was three. Oh. Got you. He goes in my bar when he was only three.

[18:00]Davy. Davy Crockett. Insanely bad parenting by Davy Crockett's parents. One of the wild frontiers. Right? Why was he fighting a bear when he was three? Three. Like, if your kid is three, it's your job to fight the bear. I've got Russell in Minneapolis. Russell, how are you doing? Rob, I thought it was a bit too warm inside your hands. It was too hard. It was too good. It's just that when you touched me, I could not stand up. Wow. I got Russell. You wearing your cowboy hat and sunglasses today, like Richard Petty. The blue ones, not the white sunglasses. The blue ones. Well, you couldn't see out of the white ones. The white ones you had to put down your nose like Benjamin Franklin. You were like a redneck Benjamin Franklin. You know what I mean? Overpolarized. Like, hey, I don't want the school board. I don't want these liberal teachers educating my kids. But I did just discover electricity. That's my Ben Franklin wearing Oakleys bit that I do. Guys, if Ben Franklin was wearing Oakleys on a $100 bill. That's a hundred million dollar bill. I mean, that would be bad ass. Why?

[19:00]You know what? I'd be rich as shit right now. America's money could be more bad ass. We could have more bad ass money. You know what I mean? I feel like our money should be. We should have something cool on there. Who would you want? Like a ninja. Honestly, we can't get Ted DiBiase on like the $20 bill. Ted DiBiase. We could have a ninja. Could we get Master P on there? We could have a ninja. That would be good. Pony the Barbarian. I mean, imagine you hand somebody a $5 bill and there's a huge sword on it. Fuck yeah. Who would be on the $2 bill in our currency world? Man, when I was a kid, if I got a $2 bill, you would, I was like, these dumb motherfuckers. These dumb motherfuckers. I'm going to be so rich. These things are so valuable. Twice as much. This is going to go up in value. I bet I have a hundred. I bet I have a hundred $2 bills. My mom. What? I've got two hundred dollar bills. My grandma used to send $2 bills. Three fives. She used to send $2 bills for everyone's birthday. And my mom is continuing. The tradition. So if I get a birthday card from my mom, wow, it might have 50 bucks to do something nice or whatever, but there's always a $2 bill in every card we get.

[20:00]That's that is classy. I like that. 50 bucks. Mom. What the fuck? Russ is getting 50 bucks. Rob can't even, he can't even afford a milk delivery with 50 bucks. Oh yeah. I, first of all, I want to remind you, it was ice cream. Okay. It wasn't milk. I don't think it was mostly ice cream from what I recall. I've got Aaron out in California now. Aaron recently went to the library. Okay. He went to the library and he saw the librarian was pregnant. He said to her, oh my gosh, congratulations. When's it due? She goes, no, it's mine. I get to keep it. Yeah, no, it's cool. It's a librarian joke. And the library now, they just auto renew your books because I picked up a Neil Gaiman book, which I've, I've intended to start, but then I found a Cormac McCarthy book, the passenger, and I had already read the companion book Stella Maris. I needed the passenger, but I don't have to choose anymore because as long as it's not a lucky day book, they renew both of them.

[21:00]I don't know any lyrics from this album, but I am excited to talk about, is it Sleater or Slater Kinney? Aaron, just remember if one of us auto renews ourselves in Vegas, we got to cover it up to our families. Oh, all right. Came back in. That was a come up, go up high, come down hard. All those are the hard high ones. All right. Let's get to our voice. Sometimes you got to swing it up. Sometimes you got to swing it from strong side to weak side as well. That's just, that's a great point. My boy, Rick Smith. Okay. Now we did get a couple of voicemails from Magic Mike and do you want to guess if they're long or short? Definitely. Okay. So we are going to split these into two episodes. So let's listen to Magic Mike. You'll never guess. Footlog voicemails. You'll never guess what a listener from Nevada wants to talk to me about. Nevada. Who the hell is that? Anyway, I'm guessing it was Aaron's wife at gmail.com. Now I'm not sure. I just want to point this out. Did he get an email from Aaron's wife at gmail.com? I think maybe my friend Suzanne is now the voice on the Beck line. Oh no. Okay. I'm not sure, but that might be what he was referring to. I don't think that, I know for a fact it's not Aaron's wife at gmail.com.

[22:00]I don't want anybody to start a rumor that I have been recording the wives and putting them on the voicemail line. But the only way you could find out is if you called me. Yeah. Okay. All right. So here we go. Here we go. All right. Here we go. All right. So here we go. Here we go. All right. So here we go. Here we go. All right. So here we go. Here we go. All right. So here we go. Here we go. All right. So here we go. All right. So here we go. All right. So here we go. All right. So here we go. And I have lots of information for you guys. One, Nevada, Rob, not Nevada. You will get crucified here. If you say Nevada, that is an east coast thing And people cannot stand it there. He is saying that the Nevada is an east coast thing And people there cannot stand it. Nevada is the town in Iowa. What am I supposed to say? Just tell me what I'm supposed to say. Nevada. Ooh, that's gonna be hard for me.

[23:00]Nevada. That would be like me saying Mozzarella Instead of Mozzarella, like I love to say. I cannot stand it. There are multiple bumper stickers about this. Okay, so the Mustang, one, It's actually not that far away from Reno. I just sent Rob a map from my house to the Mustang. You got a location. Okay, so let's first of all see them. Mike's house. So first of all, let's look at Mike's house's address And go on Zillow. Now I will say this, he did block out Where the ride is from. On the screenshot, he said us that dirty dog he knows. But it's only 12 minutes. It is a 12 minute ride. He's 12 minutes from an Uber? It's right there. It says it right there. 1974. But from Reno. Folt Avenue. Reno, Nevada. It says it right there, 1974 Humboldt. I can't believe he let us. Wow. Yeah, it's right there. Everyone sending flowers. Yeah, he lives at 6969 Fake Street. Poundtown USA.

[24:00]But okay, so we've established That it's close to Reno, Still quite far from the strip. So he is 12 minutes from the Mustang Ranch. Guys, can you imagine his joy When his favorite podcast was talking About something right by his house? That means I'm only about four and a half hours From the Mustang Ranch. It's probably the biggest piece of commerce In that whole county you would think. 27 minutes away, apparently. And I mean, let's just go for it. If you're going from my house, You'd go up veterans until you get to IAD And then IAD over. Oh, it is. Play it, do it, hit it. One, there's a gas station next to the Mustang That was crossed the highway from the Mustang. You have to go there. You've got to get a shirt. There is a shirt there saying like Mustang, Inspector, something like that, right? Like it's just one of these cheesy ush shirts. That's a little bit cheesy about that. There's a shirt available. So you can go buy a shirt from a brothel.

[25:00]I think you earn it. Yeah, I don't think you buy it. He said it was across the street. You think you can get a shirt. You think it's like you think it's like You're going to the county fair And if you throw something softballs into the milk can That's going to give you a bigger price. I think it's like if you eat the 96-ounce steak, You get this shirt. I think it's like if you go into the Cadillac Ranch And you come out and you're un-diseased, You get the shirt like that. I think you got to earn it. All right, come over here. We're going to check you out. Nope, no shirt for you. Shit. Okay, so hundreds of dollars, way off. You will be spending thousands of dollars. What? So the reason that they can't talk about it on there Is because what they do is when they negotiate with you Is they basically decide If they will find you attractive enough And they will... Oh no. This would be so discerning. Could you imagine you go out there And you're like, God, I couldn't make it in Vegas.

[26:00]But I'm going to the Cadillac Ranch And then they like, this guy is too fucking ugly. What would be the number that would be discerning To you like Rob, like 1800 or what would you say Where it would crush your spirit? Yeah, I would say that. I would say if a woman's like, you got to pay me 1800. I would say that number is oddly specific, Bums me out. Like it makes me like there's a scale. Don't like that number one bit. That would be a bad one. I think somebody would look at me and be like, What is your credit card maximum? What could we go up to? How often do you cancel your credit card transactions After events like this? Can you imagine that they base it on attractiveness? That makes sense. Hey, Aaron, you're giving a big thumbs up, But I know this all sounds bad. I don't want to come in. The only thing I can say, Maybe if it's like personal hygiene, I mean, that'd be better than, If they base it on personal hygiene, I'd be all for it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

[27:00]Me and that Steve, That Steve walking into the same brothel And I've got like immaculately brushed teeth And Steve doesn't, it's not going to matter. Like Steve's get a different price than I'm getting. I don't know. You think? I don't know. The teeth probably matter. Eyebrows that matters. Yeah. I was thinking more of the nether regions. How's your nether regions? I don't think they're going to see that far Before they price you out. Oh man. Dude, you're going to have to price you out at the bar. Man, it's a brothel. It's all above board there. That would be a bummer too. A woman saying like, How's your nether regions? Cause I'd have to tell her, Listen, not great. They seem, it seemed to be better when I was younger. I don't know if I've done permanent damage to it, But part of it's really dark now. It's darker than I'd like to admit. Dark. I'd say dark. That's how I describe it. Next question. I seem to have this Ben Rothesberger situation. Is that going to impact the price Of this transaction?

[28:00]Oh, you don't know what the Ben Rothesberger situation is here. Let me pull up the court case. Oh, or it's in part of public record. It's a public record that he has a gray penis, A gray penis. Who's the guy who like does the eight hour Uber ride from Vegas and then walks in And then walks out like four minutes later And is like frantically calling the Uber. It'd be like, please come back and out price me. And I'm like too ugly to get a normal price. Price you out if they don't. They also try to figure out if you have money. So the whole thing is, yeah, Like everybody can get a different deal. Like if they think you're hot And they don't want to sleep with you, They might charge you a hundred bucks. But yeah, no, they, if they think you're rich and or, And or they don't want to sleep with you, They will try to price you out. There are articles I was reading about this woman that was. You know, I got, I gotta say that seems fair. Like they're, they're making a transaction.

[29:00]They're saying like, Hey, it's worth it or not, right? She was in a brothel over in the bunny ranch And she was doing a girlfriend experience For a weekend, $20,000, $20,000 to have the girlfriend Experience for the weekend. Now, okay. There's so much going on there. Russell, it does seem fair. Like it does seem like they should be able to say like, Okay, we'll charge. It is the true supply and demand. Yes. You know what I mean? Like this is something where if Ronald Reagan came To his brothel, he'd be like, Oh yeah, it's trickle down. I like this very much. How many brothels do you think Ronald Reagan was in in his life over under 75.5? Oh, over. You know the rumor about Nancy Reagan. Don't you? I guess. Yeah. But yes, I do. But I mean, before I don't know, what are they Aaron? Aaron, can you say the rumor Because these guys will think I think she was the throat goat, right? Well, she was that mean She had the gorilla grip. She was apparently very good at oral sex. No, no, we can't.

[30:00]Yes. That's out there on the internet. That is out there on the internet. That is the thing. Inventing that. They know the drugs. Say yes. The mouth hugs of your penis. Oh my God. I didn't start this rumor. I don't know. Anytime you see a picture of Nancy Reagan, That's all you're going to think about. And I can tell you that for a fact, Because that's me now. But he had two. He's got a whole second. That's for our next time. That's for your tickler file. It's time for Russell. Can you imagine what he said at the end there? A girlfriend experience there was 10,000 for the weekend. That'd be 20, 20, 20,000. 20,000. I got this for you. I don't think the girlfriend experience Is worth $20,000. You can do a lot with $20,000. You can do it. Wait, does the girlfriend experience Let you watch the Timberwolves playoff games? No. Afterwards or no? That's a single guy experience. Russell, I'll give that to you. Come over to my place for $100. Do they start tomorrow or Sunday, the Timberwolves? Sunday?

[31:00]Oh shit, they play tomorrow? Oh my god. Oh my god, the dream dollar. Don't worry. By the time this episode comes out, They'll be out of the playoff. I'm trying to think of where I'm going to put my tattoo, Guys. Hey, quick, could we do a quick trip to the corner? All right, Russell, rolling going on the point with you. Let's get into the corner with Russell. This is a real quick one. And then I'll do my race corner. Oh yeah. Timberwolves playoff starts tomorrow, games at 2.30. Upstairs roommate, we have plans to go to. You guys, this might sound cool to you actually. Wine tasting at the Science Museum in St. Paul. They've got like an evening wine tasting At the Science Museum. Sounds fun. All right, wait, evenings, you're good. No, we have to do dinner beforehand, Aaron. OK. Have you guys ever had to deal With big Minnesota sports playoff game That runs up against something that you are going to,

[32:00]But aren't thrilled? You don't want to go, you don't want to leave the game for this. How do you guys handle the end of the game overlap? Because the game tomorrow is at 2.30, dinner is at, say, five. I know there's going to be overlap. What do you guys do when there's overlap With the big game and a social event? Russell, this is the first round of the playoffs, The first round, very first round. First game, it might be the only round. It might be the only round. Well, but it's not going to be the only game. So you forget this game. You go have a nice evening. And then when it really counts, then you can say, Hey, look, Western Conference Finals, Which they're not going to get to. Western Conference Finals I'm a huge Timberwolves fan. Hello. I'm a huge Timberwolves fan. I'm going to watch. That's true. Yeah. That's when you're either at the game Or you're on your couch by yourself weeping. So you guys say you save it till later in the playoffs. Yes.

[33:00]This is the first game. First game, first round. No, no, no, hold on, hold on. My question is, do I get multiple exceptions For the season? Can I see like every round I get an exception for being Like tomorrow? No, no, no, tomorrow. Tomorrow you say, look, I'm not trying to tell you Anything. I'm giving up the game though. If it gets to the Western Conference Finals, If it gets to the West and the Finals, Like I just, you're going to, can we meet halfway? I need to watch those games. Are you okay with that? Then you've got permission for those rounds Because you give it up on the first round. Russell, can I just say this? Yes, sir. Welcome to the shit, my man. Of course we've all fucking dealt with this shit. We have all had stuff that we really want to fucking watch. There's no way Aaron missed a Warriors playoff game. And guess what? We've all eaten shit and had to go to a brunch Instead of watching a football game, Russell. I mean, you're lucky there's not family there. You're lucky you're not going to a family brunch When there's a big football game on. That's what always is going on in my life. This is all of us. This is our life now. This is your life now, Russell. I mean, last time I went to a family event

[34:00]Where people were supposed to show for a big football game. The people that I knew that were supposed to show up Didn't show up because they were too sick. I don't really know if this is the right place To bring this up. But Russell wants to throw the Warriors playoff games Out there. By the time the Warriors were in the playoffs, It started in 2012 for me. That would have been my fifth anniversary Of being married to my wife. So I proposed to her. We got married. We'd been married for a significant period of time In our life. And you get married and you start To have these conversations about what matters To each of you in your life And how you bring the person you're married to Into the things that you care about. And they start to care about the things you care about And you care about the things they care about. And there's some give and take there. And so when you say, I might watch this game, They say, I get it. I might watch it with you. Go ahead, Matt. Have I told you guys about the first day That Sarah and I moved in? We had a house over by Russell's old house. It was the twins. It was the twins. You did tell us, Matt. Yeah.

[35:00]And so I tell every new person. I can do like, I have moving into my girlfriend In a month. I go, oh, I tell the story Like just to make sure you start figuring out Where everybody's at. Because the first day was like a Tuesday. We get made dinner. I sat down. I was going to turn on the TV, Turn on the twins game. And Sarah says, what are you doing? I said, I'm watching twins. I want to watch a twins game. She goes, I don't want to watch twins game. That's when I was like, oh, yeah, We didn't talk about this. The world is a vampire. Man, in it. This is you, Russell. This is the rest of the time. I don't watch the twins games though. I watch the simple rules, playoff games. Like this one is you. So you watch the first half While you're at home getting ready. Maybe you crack one beer. Oh my God. Can you imagine like Aunt Edwards Is fucking shoving it in Durant. He's just, he's sticking it to him. And we've got to leave home. And you go to a restaurant That has a bar with a television. Yeah. And you keep you say like, Hey, we might need to watch these last five minutes If this is exciting.

[36:00]Or if the inevitable happens And go bears getting played off the floor Because he's done that for six playoffs in a row And cat falls apart and aunts out there Trying to carry him by himself. And he hurts himself. And you go like, well, I'm glad I didn't sacrifice My afternoon to watch this show. Aaron is very belligerent Because his team is falling apart at the seams right now. And I understand and respect that. So I'm not going to say anything about it. Russell, I'm just going to tell you this. You're acting like this is a one time thing. No, you're acting like this is going to get better. I'm not you guys. You, some guys run their house. Some guys run around their house. Okay. I mean, I get it. Listen, Russell, I'm just saying this. It doesn't get better. Okay. It's only going to happen more and more. And this isn't like, This is really bothering you. You might need to consider some, yeah. Russell, this is the rest of your life. I have a couple of other questions beyond this question. I told you guys, I think we talked a little bit about the jazz club. I went to a week or two ago, right?

[37:00]The Berlin jazz club. But I don't know if I ever asked you my questions About going to a jazz club. Can I ask you guys? No, you say you save it, please. Oh, so here's a few of my questions. Great jazz club. I would highly recommend the Berlin jazz club In the North Loop. You can go in. They've got like a house band during most of the day. They've got certain nights where you pay And you will get to see the main show or whatever. But I had questions about going to a jazz band With you guys. The first question is, If you go to a bar with a jazz band, Talking or no talking while the band is playing? People talk, just kidding. Just kidding. They're just not shouting across the room if you can. If you're at a table with two, four people, Are you having a real conversation, man? Or are you quiet? There's a low din talk that can happen. Is it a bar? Cause I've been to a jazz club Where all the seats are facing the stage And then you're not talking. It's just saying if everything's angled to the stage, There's no talking.

[38:00]Yeah. I think so. If it's a bar where there happens to be jazz, You can talk. Right. It's clear that they sold the ticket for you To be there to watch the show that's different. I don't know. What was everybody else doing, Russell? We, so I actually went to this jazz club Two days in a row last week. Oh my God. Went one day very quickly just to see what was going on. And then we enjoyed it. So we went back the next day And we stayed there for a while Before the main act came on. So before the paid, You had to pay and sit and watch. We just sat at the bar and had a few drinks. What was everybody else doing? Were they talking or not? There wasn't, the main act wasn't on stage. It was very small. It was just two people playing Was very quiet in there at that point. But I'm sure the answer to this is correct there then. So if you can't talk, You have to clap after every song. Applause or no applause After every song in a jazz club. Do you like it? Yeah.

[39:00]100% yes. Yes. No matter what, you have to clap. If you don't like it, you don't have to. Well, Aaron would boo. We've heard Aaron would boo these people. No, I would be quiet if I didn't like it. I've booed the villain Because you're supposed to do that. If the villain did a good job, you should boo. Did you boo the guy That you went to school with that you didn't like to? I booed Jake Andrews. Yeah, that's true. I booed him. That's so terrible. But otherwise I wouldn't boo anyone. Of all the people on the show To boo somebody, you'd never think it's Aaron. Here's a question. You go to the bar, The jazz club, very cool bar. They have a little drink menu and everything. What are your thoughts about a bar That doesn't have like a special drink menu? It's just like normal. You can get an old fashioned and a groany, But there's nothing, there's nothing out of the ordinary. What I want out of the ordinary drinks. What do you guys think? Yeah, I want the top five. And that's it. Yeah, make the classics. Make them right. No tricks. There's nothing you want in the sun. It pains me to agree with these two guys, But I got to say I do love a classic bar When I go in and they're not fucking around.

[40:00]They're just like, okay, you tell us what to drink. Like they'll make whatever. You could order it old fashioned. It doesn't need to be on the menu. Well, yeah I order a long island ice tea every time. So I don't know. No. I order my martini is shaken not stirred. Always. Oh, always. You have to. I mean, wasn't that your dream as a kid Is to have a shaken not stirred martini? Yeah. So you're in the jazz band. And so we haven't had a reservation For like the upfront right next to the bar Or by the band. Would you guys rather sit at the bar And listen to the jazz band Or would you want to booth right up next to the band When you're at the jazz club? I got to say back by the bar. I like watching being able to see all the players at lunch. Do we get a little saxophone classes going While we're at it? Let's play again. I love sitting at the bar. I like sitting up front. I don't mind sitting up front though. You know, I forget there's a speakeasy

[41:00]And up to a little like red bar Or something. You know, the red light in the back, Russell, if you remember that one. I think so, yeah. But I always sit up front at that one. Hey, I'm going to do a hard pivot. Shut that jazz music off, Rob. Hard pivot. Whoa. Hard pivot. Who listened to the new Taylor Swift album That dropped today? I listened to most of it. At least the first out, the first side. Because then it would have been a double, right Rob? Is that what the deal was? It was a double album. She dropped one at midnight And a second part of it at two. It was big news around my house, believe it or not. I got through about, I got through about three quarters of the first album. Didn't listen to us note. I didn't listen yet. Yeah, I'm not. I've listened. You're the one telling the whole thing. On the text chain about it. I made the whole thing today. The whole double album. It's a long album when you're, We've talked about this before. This is nothing but Taylor Swift.

[42:00]It's just in general, When you're going to do an album That's 30 songs in two hours and two minutes, You hit a point where it's hard to keep, It's hard to be excited about it. So I'm just going to say, Sometimes everyone needs to be told When to shut the fuck up. And when it comes to me, I'll just say, Rob, my time is done. Rob, rolling going, how is it going with you? Well, I'll tell you what, I got to get out of the corner. I'm just going to say this, I got a short rolling going. That was really good. I saw this picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono And it blew my fucking mind. Now, I don't know about you guys, But I have long been fascinated with the weird butts. People with weird butts, When they got weird butts and you look at that butt. What's the standard butt? Standard butt, it was like, It is like, what's the standard butt? It's just a round, Like a butt you'd see in a cartoon. You know what I mean? Like it's picture Bart Simpson's butt. That's the standard butt. You know what I mean? Yeah. Well, who's that?

[43:00]What's it? Think of a cartoon character's butt. I don't know any. He was moaning people. Okay. How about the minion butt? Have you guys seen the butt of the minions? Never heard of the minions. I'm going to ignore that you said that, Russell. I simply don't have the time or energy To get into why that's crazy. That you wouldn't know what the minions are. You used to what he's talked about, Aaron, Matt. I mean, yes, we all know what the minions are, Russell. Like saying you don't know what blue is. It's so crazy. I am out. Here's the thing, Russell, the minions butt. So I can't, and you know what? I can't begin to explain to you what a minion is. So just trust me on this. It is a cartoon. Do you see that butt? That to me is a standard butt. That's what a butt looks like. But that's like a weird... It's a little low butt. Actually, now that I look, The minion kind of has a little butt. But Rob, that's from a, The image you're showing is from an account Called DeviantArt. Like how are you, like, oh, This is just a standard butt And it's driven, drawn by DeviantArt.

[44:00]DeviantArt is a famous site where if you want to see, Like, Sonic the Hedgehog pregnant, Like it's where you go to see that Because people draw that stuff. Yeah, so it's not a standard butt. Like, this is a minion in a thong. Okay. This is not standard butt. Okay, so what do you think? Tell me what a standard butt is. Somebody's picturing the standard butt. What are they picturing? I'll type it in right now. I think Kelly Kapowski, kind of standard butt. I cannot type in Kelly Kapowski butt. What are you doing? You can't look that up. That is completely easy. Okay, I am going to look it up, though, just for science. Kelly Kapowski butt. Aaron, are you serious? What is going on? Aaron, look at this picture. There is this picture of Kelly Kapowski playing football. She is in Fed-off T-Shorts. There's choices right now. This is another low butt, Aaron. This is officially a low butt. Okay, it's a low butt. That's a low butt. I know what you're going for, But that's definitely a low butt. Anyway, we all know. I think most people have low butts. I think a high butt is an exception. Rob, what was your best butt moment ever? Did you ever have a great, Where you're like, God dang,

[45:00]My butt put me on the map? No. I have actually a very small butt for my size. If you look at me in powerlifting things, I look kind of like a potato. I have a very small butt. That's why I need to work on it. I'm working on making a bigger butt. What's your butt moment, Russell? You got a big butt moment? The closest I can think of Is we've talked about this many years ago For the people who continue to listen episode after episode After episode. Mine was that I got voted best waddle Like as like the cutest walk as my senior year thing. You do have a nice walk. It's true. But I think that's what I always, But I always said that I like, That's like the, That's like the credit you give to the semi-fat guy. I could spot Russell's walk from like five miles away. Like I could be looking at a crew of people Through binoculars. I don't even know what to think of that. Because you have a nice walk and you're like, I just know you and I could pick it out, man. I don't know what the fuck Aaron's talking about. I can't even imagine your walk.

[46:00]Next time I see Russell, I gotta see this walk. Russell, can you walk back? Walk back to the door behind you. It's like a little bit of a strut. You know, walk back to the door. If I get up and walk anywhere, This episode's going to be over on this end. I'll just tell you that right now. How about the Sir Mixed Lot butt that he's standing on? That's kind of a standard butt. There's nothing standard about that. No, it's not standard. Sir Mixed Lot's on it. Anyway, I found this picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, And they have the two most opposite butt types I've ever seen in my life. Okay, now I'm going to post this to our Instagram. All right, but check this out. Look at their butt. This is like a Myers-Briggs thing. I'm getting intimidated right now. Guys, look at this butt. I mean, look at this. It's like, Aaron described this to me. I saw this picture and I immediately thought of you. John Lennon's butt crack, Like almost goes up to his little, That is the biggest butt crack I've ever seen. That is, if you were to say the biggest person,

[47:00]The smallest butt crack in the world, That is probably, I would say 24 inches long Of a butt crack. Enhanced. The other, enhanced. Enhanced. It looks like she donated like $2,000 for butt crack. Honestly. When Russell says his butt crack is 24 inches long, He is not lying. He's not joking. John Lennon has a two foot. It looks like someone put a ruler, Two rulers gets it back in his hand. You could take Subway's new foot long cookies, Put them up against John Lennon's butt. It would always go up half the butt. Why is my crack so long? I don't understand. Picture two, Subway foot long sandwiches together. That is the butt that we're looking at right now. John Lennon's butt is almost up. I mean, it literally is past his belly button. Doesn't it look like it goes past his belly button? It's crazy. It looks like it goes up to like the middle of his back. Russell, can you analyze? Okay. Use your computer brain to analyze. How long do you think- His pants are high all the time.

[48:00]How long do you think Yoko Ono's butt is? If you could estimate her butt length. If we're going in centimeters of a kilogram, So what are we going to do here? I would, let's go inches. Let's go four. If I were to go inches, I would say Yoko Ono's butt crack Is probably six inches And John Lennon's is probably 32 inches. He's not lying, people. This is true. I would say her butt is not quite six inches. It is small. It's like three inches. I don't understand how this is possible. Like I feel like if they rode a bicycle, She would, on a bicycle seat, She would fall off and he would fall into it. No, we need to stop though. Her butt crack, it may be smaller, But his is like, what is going on? Half of it should not go up that high. What is going on with the other half of his butt crack? Yeah, it looks like he's in there. Is there another picture That we can verify the system of docking To like corroborate? Yeah, this is doctored. Yeah.

[49:00]Rob. Is this doctored? I don't know. John butt. I mean, how many more pictures can there be? Okay, I'm going to go butt. We're going to find out real quick. Photo shot. Hold on, what does that top would say? Is it me or does John Lennon have? The long ass butt crack in the rest of the pictures. Everybody's ass looked like this before modern science. Guys, Yoko got that Hank Hill ass, Is what one comment said. It's true. Yoko's got the Hank Hill ass. Okay, wait a minute. Long ass Lennon. The thing about the John Lennon is like, He couldn't wear like regular pants. Underwear and cover that up. It would be guys bad news. It is a doctored photo. I've been duped by the internet. Look at this. This is their real butts. You piece of shit, Rob. That is a bummer. No, I got to say this.

[50:00]They got nice butts. John Lennon and Yoko both have nice butts. Yeah, John's looks much better. These look proportionally the exact same. I'm just going to say that right now. There may be like an inch or two difference, But they look the exact same. So I don't know what the hell you were looking at. I was looking at this one. This is the long butt one. This is the long butt one. Who's doing this? This is the long butt one. This is the normal one. I remember doctoring. Okay, so listen, this brings us To the next part of today's show. Apology from Beck. This brings out the Beck. They're better apology of the week. Apologize. And that was for me falling for the long butt bit. I should have done my research. I got so excited to have a butt conversation. Literally was a paragraph below the picture. So they are, I would say proportionally the exact same. Yeah, you're right. I was wrong. And to the Yoko Ono and John Lennon estate, I apologize for assuming your butts were weird sizes. We're only going, man. How's it going with you?

[51:00]Good. Rob, could we pull up a song? Morphoborb? Yes. Waiting for Stevie by Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam. Is this new? New album came out today. Welcome 19th. Great timing. It's my favorite song on the New Pearl Jam album. So Magic Mike will have to get his review. I'm sure he'll be listening to it, things like that. I got through this a couple of times. I tried to get through Taylor Swift once, But I just kept going back to Vampire Weekend as well. So it's such a good album. Can't recommend that one. I went on a trip this week and there's nothing To report on there except that I got my toothpaste Taken by TSA. Oh. I've been traveling with the same, You know, dop kit thing for years. I've had the same toothpaste bottle for years. Never, ever had an issue with it. Yes, it's technically against the rules, But Dallas, they busted. I thought this was America for taking off your clothes. It was in Texas.

[52:00]Sometimes they think they're a little better than The rest of us, so. The event of the week, though, Was we had our very first ever family concert trip. So the four of us went and saw AJR. The whole family, you and your wife and kids. Yep, wife, kids, family, went and saw AJR. And what I'm realizing, which is a little bit Choppy, is. Matt, you texted us this. Could you tell me and our listeners Who AJR is? Cause I don't know who that is. That's what I was going to say. Yeah, let me get to it. You told me, you cut me off to say that I'm realizing That nobody knows who AJR is, which is kind of weird. They're lead singers in the Midian. So Rob, I guess let's, let's pivot away from Pearl Jam, The one AJR song. Let's do 100 Bad Days. That's my favorite song. Or Bang. Everybody knows Bang. Oh yeah, fuck yeah. I've heard these guys before. I think they're pretty good.

[53:00]Oh yeah. I do like this band. Now I would say this, myself, Probably not bringing my family to this. That's just me. I don't know about the first family concert. Everybody's got to make their own decisions About their family stuff. If you sit up in the upper deck, you'll be fine. You won't know the difference. He's at the sphere later. So it's, there's not a bad seed. Hold on, Bang, AJR, or Bang, whatever it is. This is one of my favorite parts of the show That our listeners never get to see, Which is Rob's typing. It is. It's great. There is nothing else like it. So these guys, three brothers, I think probably under seven, They've been around for a long, like 20 years. But what Sarah was telling me, They finally got big when TikTok took off. So of course, Rob, I figured Rob would have heard some of these songs. But great, like three kind of nerdy brothers Grown up, same band, all of this stuff.

[54:00]They put on one of the best shows I've ever seen, Like from a concert. I knew most of the songs and my kids listened to them. They put on just one hell of a show. So if you have the opportunity to see AJR live, I would highly recommend it. Matt, were both your sons into this band? Do they know before you went or not? Yep. So they knew everything. It was Eddie's first concert, Leo's second or third. He went to 21 Pilots about a year ago, things like that. So, but the biggest thing is before the concert, It was a bunch of kids. It wasn't as loud, Russell. It was like the most tame concert I've ever been to In my life. It was pretty awesome actually to go to Because there's a lot of change from the scumbag. What if their opening act was Onyx? Yeah. That'd be a crazy juxtaposition. Matt, you've given me guidance before On where to sit for concerts. Where did you guys sit for this concert? Where was that? It was at the Excel Energy Center. Ooh, that's a big concert. Yeah, so there was like 14,000 people there. So it was sold out was one of those things. And nobody's ever heard them. So it's really weird.

[55:00]It's really weird, but it was basically sold out. So what I did, Russell, I want you to take notes. As I found out where the stage was, And then I went one section off of the stage. Nice. And up to the side, we were row 12, So we were row 12, so about 12 rows up Right next to the stage. And it was awesome. You know, just a little bit of a kitty corner Off of where the speakers are pointing at. Those kids don't know how great they have at math With you picking the seats. They don't realize. And I told them they were ruined Because there's some concerts, right, Where it has a great musician, But like he's just standing up there or something like that. And these guys put on just a hell of a show. So when you leave your, you leave the show, Matt, Like you got to have times where you take your kids To a game or a movie or something. Like did your kids have a great time? Like did it give you, did it fill your heart full of joy? Did they have a fun time? It was great. Yes, they had a wonderful time. It was like 1030 when we were leaving And they're usually in bed by like nine. So that's part of the memory. One of them was, yeah. Well, one of them gets a little dramatic,

[56:00]Which is always fun to do. I think like, yeah. So, but it was all good. You can't imagine where he gets that from. Exactly. Nobody likes it. Ah, that's Uncle Rob. Now, Matt, did you have to have a merch discussion? Did you have to say, listen, this is our, We're buying a shirt, we're not buying a shirt. What was the policy? I think somebody in the family would have liked it If we kind of didn't have any merch. But I'm like first concert, Hey, you guys want a shirt. And so they each got a shirt. Nice. But I don't know. I messed up. When I went to see Bruce Springsteen, I fully intended to get a shirt. And then I never had time and never materialized. Like we were kind of rushing to make sure We were in our seat before he started. And then once the show started, I wasn't going to leave for merch. So I don't know when you buy a shirt. We bought it. We got there fairly early and we're walking around With the opening guy, Dean Lewis, Another pretty good guy, Australian. I think we when he was playing, We were walking around. So it wasn't too busy.

[57:00]Like I said, it was a pretty tame crowd. But yeah, I don't know. I think I don't do anything with the posters, But I'd much rather buy a poster now Than a concert t-shirt, I guess. And frankly, it's because of the quality of the t-shirts. They're just the regular old cotton t-shirts most of the time. Gildan? Yeah. I'll tell you what, if I have your meat, Mr. Gildan, I'm going to knock his ass out And I'm going to sit on his face And I'm going to be like, this is what it feels like To wear your shirts, motherfucker. Your shirts are a horse shit. They're big. They're heavy. They shrink hot. They're too big. They shrink. They're way too small. They always fit weird. Mr. Gildan, you're like what? Just like Boingo, Mr. Boingo, Who sets up my internet hotspots at the airport. You're on my shit list. Rob, would you say Gildan shirts are rolling grown? They are, Russell, they are rolling grown. There is literally nothing more disappointing Than when I am getting a shirt from work Or whatever and somebody's made a shirt And it's a Gildan.

[58:00]It just makes me furious. I can't believe they exist. All right, Rosie, rolling gone. Oh, wow. What if it's not one guy? What if it's two guys, Gildan and Dan, As we got together? I did learn last night. Hey, Gildan and Dan, I'm glad you didn't make the Olympics that year. You know what I mean? Fuck you guys. That wasn't cool. I think Dan made it right and Dave didn't, Or I can't remember how it worked out. Oh yeah, that's right. That was it. Yeah, that is correct. Okay. I did learn last night at the science fair That 100% cotton clothes are safer in a fire. If your clothes have polyester in them, They're going to melt on you. What kid is doing this experiment? Keep your kid away from that kid. What a psycho. I want to give an update. From last week, I got my mats back From Mickey's auto detail. Oh, you did. They caught me. Yes, they did. They called me on Monday and they said, The other customer brought these mats back. Please come pick them up. What a psycho path. Who brings the mats back? You can go back to pick them up. And I sent you guys a picture that you can clearly see That these are Subaru mats in a hot day,

[59:00]But the other customer brought them back. They really fit nice. They fit really nice. They fit nice enough they work. You sent me that text and I laughed at it And somebody was like, hey, what are you laughing at? And I was like, I couldn't even begin To explain this story. This is an insane story that has not left my mind. I was like explaining to my wife and kids And they're like, what? He kept the mats. I was like, yeah, I don't know. And then he lost it and he's trying to get them. They're like, why does he do that? But I'll tell you what I'm really concerned about. Can you see the picture off? You see how they fit? Oh yeah. They're in there, man. They work. They're in. They're like we sold the Subaru. Why not keep the mats? We bought them. Because we're not re-litigating this. You don't have to keep the mats. That's the craziest thing you could say. But here's what I'm concerned about. I, oh man, this is a very long situation gone. I went to Mickey's Auto Detail. Shout out. That's what she said. Thank you. You did a bang up job on the car. While I was there, I walked west.

[1:00:00]And I got tacos. I mean, we discussed. I got sopes from Tacos Mi Rancho. I was not super pleased with them, But I did eventually go to the library. So it was fine. It was a nice walk that day. It was okay. A few nights ago, I was up too late Reading stuff on the internet. And I read a very good article on KQED.org about food. It was about barrier wrappers who wrap about food. So obviously E40, You're going to think of E40 wrapping about food. Yeah, of course. You know, Larry June wraps about food. Andre Nicotina wrapped about a Togo sandwich. Togo goes, yep. Yeah. And there was an interview with a Bay Area wrapper Who listed his five favorite places to eat in Oakland. And one of them was a Bon Mi shop That is literally in the backyard Of the place I went to detail my car. So I walked a mile to get mid-sopes When I could have had a fantastic Bottoming right there. No, I'm saying I missed out on one of those right there. I walked the wrong direction

[1:01:00]When if I was walking around the corner, it was right there. You missed it. Yeah. And when I went back to get the mats And I was like, well, this is good. Like this is the only time we're going to get This car detailed because like our lease is up in here. And I'm like, but I need to go back And get the car detailed one more time Because I need to go get this Bon Mi. And if you were me, I would have thrown those fucking mats And the garbage had been like, oh, they got another set. Otherwise a neighborhood where I'm It's not going to prove neighborhood to hang out. So I don't know how I'm going to figure out How to get back there, But I got to go back and get one of these Bon Mi. They got some great, well, they got a Sardine Bon Mi On the menu guys. And that's not even the best one. This is really easy. You just give your kids a whole bunch of Cheerios And whatever else like you just spill all over the place. Go over some railroad tracks really fast. You know, so that the car is just, I mean all that. I got to go back. It's the same way I got my wife to give birth When she was pregnant. Gave her Cheerios.

[1:02:00]No, you drive over the railroad tracks a bunch. Did you guys do that? That's what you did? Yeah. I thought that was maybe how you got her pregnant. Anyway, that's it for me. That's how it's all, that's all I got today. It was just kind of figuring out how I'm going to get back Through to get my car detailed again. At any point you just say, well, that wasn't Bobby at all. That place was so far away. That, and you know what? I don't want to take this in a negative direction, But you know what, guys, I decided I don't like When people at work wish me a happy Friday. You know why? Because it just reminds me, Because I don't want to say happy Friday Because what it means is, yeah, we made it to this day Where I don't have to talk to people anymore And I can go home and talk to the people I really want To talk to, which are my family and my podcast mates. That's it. So I don't want to pretend that I'm doing this anymore. Don't wish me a happy Friday. Work is named after the thing you like to do the least. It's named work. It's got the worst name possible. It's right in there. It's right in the name. We all should know that work is bad. It's called work. It's right there in the name.

[1:03:00]Yeah. What about you guys? Do you wish anybody a happy Friday? What's your, what's your Friday greeting? I'm a, I'm a, I have a great weekend. Yeah. Have a great weekend guys. Yeah, more than anything. Yeah, me too. See, that's why we're in a podcast together. But you're right, Aaron. That's a big difference, isn't it? Cause like a happy Friday is like, Hey, enjoy the rest of your shitty day today While you have to sit here And act like you're working for a few hours. Happy weekend. It's like, Hey, go enjoy your real world. Yeah. Wish somebody a happy weekend on a Thursday. Cause you never know. Jesus Christ. Don't say that at work here. They're going to think your name is going to be On a list or something. Don't do that. Hey, Rob, have a great weekend. You never know. Is it me we're done? Is this the surprise? Can we save the files? Happy weekend on a Tuesday. You never know. I don't know about that guy. First, he did that bit about the John Henry That went on too long. I have a recovery from that one. Is that everybody's? That's it. Oh, you guys were waiting for me

[1:04:00]To talk about the album. Oh, that's embarrassing. It's weird to have me last. I'm very early last. I felt a lot of pressure going last. Russ jumped into the corner so fast. It feels like, when you go last, You really got to like, you got to bring it. I don't know if I brought it. Is this a music podcast? Yeah, so I had the butts one ready to go. And then it turned out I was scammed. Slater Kinney. This is a band of Corrin Tucker, Kerry Brownstein, the actress from Portlandia. And this is the first album of theirs With the drummer Janet Weiss Would be their kind of drummer for a long time. And they said in a little ton of interviews That the drummer is really what Brought the sound together for him. There's out in Seattle, it's the 90s. They're singing about feminist issues, Consumerism. They're in grunge. They're kind of complaining about Like the male dominatedness of grunge at the time. And basically they got more time on this album Than they'd gotten on previous albums To actually sit there and make it. They had eight days instead of four previously. And so they felt like they could put a little more time Into the album, which eight days is just crazy to me. If we had to do this podcast recording

[1:05:00]Every eight days, I couldn't do it. I would be like, I can't handle Rob. We're looking every nine and a half day group. We've done it every eight days. No, no, we skip it every once in a while. Oh yeah. Russell, do you think that they record an album Every eight days? They record part of the album? I don't know. They did eight days in a row. Russell, imagine we did this podcast eight days in a row. Eight days a week. We've already talked about Aaron's chair. We've already talked about his mats. We were sad about the Bombie place. What else would we talk to Aaron about? I mean, I'd have intrigued about what we would hear About a big seven days from now. I'll tell you this. And this is going to take every bit of my willpower, Russell. Bring it. We don't even know how he did the poker game. That's tomorrow. It's tomorrow. Let's not forget. That's happening tomorrow. All right. Well, don't lose all your money. Don't take too much money from the school. Hey, Rob is a better friend than Matt and I. Matt and I don't remember this shit at all. We don't remember the Aaron's poker game.

[1:06:00]I'm there with Aaron. You don't have you figured out your strategy yet? Did you get your glasses? Did you get your weird glasses? My strategy, I think, is they get cheeseburgers. So I'm going to eat a cheeseburger. And I hope that maybe they overordered cheeseburgers. I'm going to get a second one. Shotty Chan the master. Aaron's going for a nickname at the poker table. Cheeseburger Aaron. A couple of cheeseburgers. And I think I want to stick into like 10 o'clock maybe. And then I kind of want to get home in time To not be hungover and play basketball Once in the morning. But I'm not sure how that's going to go either. It's kind of like I'm hoping this podcast Gets done early enough tonight so I can get to bed And get to yoga in the morning. Okay. Oh yeah. All right. I hear you. I'm hoping that I can just stay up all night and party. I don't give a shit about anything. I don't care if I live or die. Let's go. All right. Cheers to that. No. You guys are here with us. Rob, when I'm wearing a cowboy hat, sunglasses, And holding up a Moscow mule mug. Russell, is that the pinnacle or what? I got to say this, Russell. What did you put in that Moscow mule

[1:07:00]That you're bringing? I'm going to live or die. It's just a normal Moscow mule. But I also, I tried to go with like a cherry limeade Moscow mule. And I did have the upstairs roommate. And as you can see, I've got a bucket full of stuff here. Oh my God. Okay. So why do you have a bucket? Matt, look again. Russell, show Matt the bucket. You didn't see the bucket. That's the bucket. Why? Why is there a bucket? It looks like the kind of bucket You get next to bed if you're going to be sick In the night. Yeah. I had to have a bucket for ginger beer. And not true, actually. I've also got this big jug of vodka over here That is over on this side. I notice it's not totally yet. I'm still not sure why we need the bucket. It's going to be that vodka was gone. There's also cut up limes in the bucket here. Oh, okay. All right. Now that makes sense. Bucket limes. We get it. Here's where I threw a twist. I put a little grenadine in that drink tonight. Wow. All right. Matt, I apologize.

[1:08:00]I know you want to get to you tomorrow. That sounds good to me. Is it hot yoga tomorrow? Yep. Oh, it's always hot yoga when you're rubbing down the mats. I mean, when Matt's there, it's hot yoga. Here's the deal. Okay. I feel bad right now. They spent a... Russell, we all feel bad. It's fine. Rob doesn't care if we live or die. I mean, really, these are the things like, Oh, you could die soon. Yeah. Oh no. We are going to need the pod being passworded this weekend, Though. Seriously, it would be down so fast for Rob. No, we can't do that. I don't care if they live or die. Okay. It's going to be in my will. High falsehood must stay up or hauntings. Russell, I'd be at your house. I'd be watching your ass. I'd be looking at you. I'd be doing a Chuck Berry. That's where I'd probably scare Russell the most. I'd be doing a Chuck Berry. I'd be in the toilet, Putting together my compilation tapes. And we've gotten zero episodes

[1:09:00]Without a Chuck Berry reference. Let the counter back to zero. Or raise the chalkboard behind you, Aaron. So they had a goal with this album. They want to carry in Coren's voices To be equally presented. So you can hear them singing a lot And there's not a background or lead singer. They're both up the same volume. And with no bass in the band, They have this kind of more range Where they could add some more guitar sounds. And basically, here's what's crazy about this album. And I think this album, it's a lot better Than you realize it is. More like non-basically, Because there's no bass in the band, Rob. Russell, you nailed it. Non-basically. More like, acidicly, because it's the opposite of bass. You know, these days, math class, It's all about base 10, this band, base zero. Didn't have one. Base zero. Oh. Listen. Listen. The lyrical themes, Undig me out. This is about heartbreak because Right before they recorded this album, Brownstein, the guitar player And the lead singer had broken up. And the lead singer started dating Lance Bangs. Music video director and a guy who helped do jackass.

[1:10:00]He's on my jackass, a couple of stuff. And basically, Brownstein said, Almost every song on this album is about Either Corrin, the lead singer, or her new husband. So when you're listening to this album, You have to realize like this is the Nadir of somebody's relationship. Like this is the absolute bottom. Not only have you broken up, They've started dating somebody else. And you're still in a band with them, Russell. It'd be like if you kept having a podcast with us After you fucked John from Edina On a few weeks of podcasts ago. Nice. I like that. I think of his minion butt. Let's get into dig me out. Here we go. Now last week, guys, I made a joke. This album was about an archeologist Getting oral sex. And it turns out the song dig me out. Guess what it's a metaphor for? Them getting oral sex. I was right. Rob wins again.

[1:11:00]Okay. I gotta say, guys, I got, I thought I got a lot more out of this album When I realized it was all about their relationship Ending, and then him seeing this person That you dated for a long time Going off with somebody else. One more hour. This was another song, I believe, About their breakup, right? So they're in the band And they're breaking up while they're recording this. Is that right, Rob? That is correct, Rob. You know, it's not the first time in music history That's ever happened. Oh, no, it's just a fleeting moment. So I thought we could do a list Of the greatest songs ever Where bandmates were dating And they broke up while recording a song. We're gonna do those songs. Can we hear it? I've reached the point, Rob, Where I'm no longer giving you time. So I'm just giving you songs And you've gotta figure it out on your own. Oh, no. Because I didn't even look at the email for this.

[1:12:00]I didn't even look at the email. First song on the list. So this is band members who dated And then broke up during the middle of the recording. The first song on the list, We're gonna go to Fleetwood Mac. The song is Go Your Own Way. So this is Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks. We talked about this probably four years ago When we started the podcast Because Rumors is a top 10 album, I think, right? Oh, for sure. Yeah, 100%. This is all driven by their breaking up. But that's the wild thing is, We've talked about this years ago. Fleetwood Mac, they were all dating each other, right? Yeah. Yeah, it was like a rough square. It was a weird, yeah. I mean, that'd be weird, guys, If we all dated each other, wouldn't it? I think so. I think, yeah. Okay, I do too, then. Feels like we're too old for the long-distance thing, too. Like, I mean... Oh, yeah. I mean, who would want to just angle the camera down And go at it?

[1:13:00]What? Oh, that's how I... What? I realize that's not how most people picture A long-distance relationship. My bad. You know what? And up, that's on me. What you wouldn't see If we had a long-distance relationship. Camera down. Going at it. But so it's Buckingham. It's Stevie Nicks. Stevie Nicks. But Stevie Nicks also dated... McFleetwood. McFleetwood. Right. And then it's... Is it Christy McKee and John... It's John McKee. They all dated each other, right? I think so, yeah. Fucking wild. Russell, that's what makes great art. Okay? Or if you want to hear... You know, sometimes you get great music When people break up. But Russell when some people Want to hear great music? What's that? It's when people are getting married. Okay, Russell? And that's why. Matt and I have decided, And Aaron will agree with this as well. If the only thing holding you back From getting married is you're worried That we're going to bring up the podcast In my best man speech, I will promise you right now

[1:14:00]That I will not bring up the podcast In the best man's speech. The idea that you would even be invited Is laughable to me. But I'll let you keep... I'll let you keep going with that thought For the rest of the night, but that's fine. Next song on the list, If you get a secret married, We're all going to be mad, Is from Abba. The song is... The winner takes it all. Check this one out. Yeah, here it is. What's crazy is, dude, They're like... I didn't know there were music videos For songs this old. There are two couples on this one, Aaron. Okay. There are two couples that were... So Abba's got four members. Both of them were married. Both of them got divorced While they were a band. Oh, man. Can you imagine two divorces In one band of four people? Yeah. Do you think that first one Got divorced? Like the second one was like... Uh-oh. Like... Coming for me. Yeah, uh-oh, that can't be good. Hey, how's your divorce going? Oh, actually, it's really great. It's working out really well.

[1:15:00]Uh-oh. My wife would only need The slightest hint from a friend of hers. It's from somewhere in the 90s or 2000s. The band is, no doubt, The song is Don't Speak. Wow. So this is Gwen Stefani and Tony Cannell. I don't know, you guys... That's the bass player, right? I can't recall the name, but... I can all recall the name. But she was a backup singer When this band started. She started dating the bass player, Tony Cannell. Then they started making the big. She becomes the lead singer. And they break up. Which I think was a label decision, right? Like, I think it's pretty well documented now That it's like a Debbie and everything, right? Like, oh... What does that mean? It means that the label wanted Her face in front of the band. And her belly button in front of the band. I mean, I think this band is underrated. Like, are they on the list? They should be on the list. But I feel... It might shock you.

[1:16:00]Big fan of No Doubt growing up. I was a huge fan. You were. Yep. I... Why were you, Rob? Well, I love this... I love that... Hey, I'm walking in the spider webs. Sorry, he's not home right now. Yeah. The reason I liked Aerosmith Is the band was so attractive at the videos. That band stayed together for like 15 years After Gwen Stefani and the bass player broke up. That's wild, isn't it? Can their sound continue to evolve? Yeah. 15 years, golly. Rob, could you imagine if something happened With you and your weightlifting coach And you still were in the same weightlifting team For like the next 15 years? Yeah, wouldn't that be crazy If maybe the meat your wife hosted the weekend after You dumped your weightlifting coach had him there? Oh, no. And so you had to talk to him at a weightlifting meet And you recounted a time where you fired him as a joke During one of the meets. No. And you told that story to him within 30 seconds of seeing him Realizing that you had actually fired him in real life. That was great. Great move, Rob. Next on the list is the Fuji's.

[1:17:00]The song is Ready or Not. So we've talked about the score before, I believe. We've talked. It's probably been six months ago, right? I would say more than six months for you. But Aaron, you probably know this album more than I do. Matt, you might know more than I do, too. But Lauren Hill, Wyclef, the third guy who's in trouble With the law, I believe, right now, right? So they moved in together. I don't know if we ever talked about this On this album. They moved in together. There's a relationship between Wyclef and Lauren Hill. They immediately start having other relationships. But it becomes a thing, right? Right. So the wild thing about this album Is so Lauren Hill, at some point, While they're recording this, they're all living together. And she says, like, I can't handle this anymore. I've got an amazing hook for this song, Ready or Not. But no one can be there. I will only come in and record it by myself. Because they were all going through this whole love triangle. Like, Wyclef met his new wife.

[1:18:00]She was dating, I said, Rohan Marley, one of the Marley's Sons. And so she came in and recorded this Ready or Not Hook that is part of this in the bridge. And she's crying during it. They had to re-record it multiple times. But do you imagine recording one of the greatest albums Ever and you're dating one of the other members And breaking up with them in the middle of it? That's wild, isn't it? I think the lesson here is if you're a rock star, You shouldn't be dating people. You're a rock star. You should be living that life. It's only going to lead to trouble. Aaron, you love the Foojies. I do love the Foojies. I love that hook. It's hard for me to even speak while I'm listening. It's a great song. My favorite part about the Foojies Is when I sent all that money to Wyclef For many of his charity causes. And I'm pretty sure they went directly to the charities And did not get him in any trouble at all. Yeah, and then there was that time Where you were trying to help Obama win an election And you talked to Praz about it.

[1:19:00]And I can't even remember. The Praz story is so wild. Like he was like funneling money from billionaires To the Obama campaign and Obama didn't know about it. He was trying to use, I can't remember now. I'd have to look it up. It's wild. Can you imagine? We should give him a fraud To help politicians get more money. That's a great idea. Last song on the list is from Clarence Thomas. The White Stripes. The song is, we were gonna be friends. He wanted, okay, can I just be clear? Clarence wanted my RV for one weekend. I thought that was fine. And all that he did in return Is send his kid to a private school that I also ran. Okay, so it's a give and take. Good pro quo, Clarice. Yeah, it's no big deal. I was mostly friends with his wife. Do you think his friends make jokes About good pro quo, Clarence? They must, right? Do you think he makes jokes? Yes, he did that pub on the coke can. That was literally a joke.

[1:20:00]You know what kind of guy he is when you hear that. You know what kind of guy, Cause we all know guys that where you're like, I could see him doing that. He's one of those guys. Is he one of those guys that would host a podcast And not tell people he knows about it? Like, what if he has a podcast like this And he's like, God damn. I think it's going to really impact my judicial prudence If anyone finds out about this podcast. That would be a bummer Russell, If any of us make the Supreme Court. Okay, I will simply cry and say that in my calendar, Where it's listed, Dig It Out, Was a game I used to play with my friends And not a episode of the podcast we recorded. Was that what he did? Something like that. This is a band where they claimed They were brother and sister for many years, But they were actually together. It's the White Stripes. We were going to be friends as a song. Yeah, this song is so nice. So these guys actually got divorced, Right when they became famous in like the early 2000s.

[1:21:00]So I was going to play another song by them, But this seemed like an appropriate, Jack White went out of his way to say like, We never do songs kind of about a relationship, Whatever, but I don't know. This feels like a song about a relationship gone bad, But also gone well, right? Just about people growing up together, Figuring it out. Other interesting thing about this song here Is the White Stripes are one of few indie rock bands That didn't have a bass player. The song on Seven Nation Army is not a bass. You know what I'm talking about here, you hear me? For sure, it's not a bass. It's not a bass. They're running, they're running a regular guitar Through a wah-wah pedal on that song. I didn't know that. The other band that didn't use a bass player, Sleeter Kinney, true. It's true. That's the whole circle. Russell, that was a great list. What a list. Guys, if we break up, will we still do the podcast Together?

[1:22:00]The fifth song of the list Was going to be your song that you played about you On John. Wow. And how we actually are not friends anymore. We continue to record the podcast, But I didn't want to bring people behind the scenes That far. I just listened to the song today that I did Where it was my apology for having John on. And then I said, we should do it, John Robin Aaron. And I was like, oh, just bad choice. You kind of chose the apology if I'm being honest. But I appreciated the sentiment. It was nice, but it feels like. Wait, what? Aaron, you did? I mean, it was nice. It was very flattering to me. No. Apology and hit a home run with it. Okay. Long bomb, bat flip, brother of the bases. Next up, we are at turn it on. I did like this song. I I like these first couple of songs. The album is they definitely have a sound. Yeah. Do you have any guitar tuning notes on this album? No, it's, it's wild.

[1:23:00]I think it is wild cause you can tell they're Doing something. I think a big thing I have a soft spot for this album Just because I love the show, Portlandia. And if you watch Portlandia, Kerry Brownstein is so likable and funny on that show. To hear, and I'd always hear about Slater Kenny. Like you'd hear about it as like true music fans Would talk about it. I just, when I think about her being the guitarist. She's an actress on the show. Yeah. Oh yeah. And she's super likable and lovable. I mean, and then to hear the songs like this Where she's obviously angry about stuff. And it's, it's kind of this juxtaposition That's throwing me for a real loop. The drama you've been craving. I like the back and forth to the singers here. So what's like the most comparable band? Is it whole? Or what's the most comparable band we've listened to To this band? I keep thinking of Pixies, but whole might be up there. Yeah. I want to say like.

[1:24:00]It's one of like the seventies punk bands. Like they're way less musicality, but like the Ramones. I mean, I was just trying to pull it. One of the, one of those late seventies, early eighties Punk bands. Yeah. How about, what was Iggy Pops? Stooges. Stooges? I don't know. I hear a little bit of that in there for sure. Next up, the Heart Factory. This is the drummer on this one is playing a space heater. There's some wood in there. I love the build. Okay, I hear that. A bit of the clash. Maybe. Yeah. I like that, man. That's a good one. I don't know. This is just so different Than the other stuff we listen to. And it's, it's fun. Chronologically, I hate to do this with Liz Fair. Was Liz Fair around the same time? Oh, I think she's, I think they were out earlier too. This is like their fourth or fifth album.

[1:25:00]What'd you say? Yeah. This is their, I want to say fifth. And Dig Me Out is from, what year is this from? 97. 97, what about Liz Fair? 93. Yeah. So Liz Fair is four years before. Yeah. That's a, it's an interesting comparison, But I, I don't know. It's just such a unique sound for what we've heard. This chorus of this song, I think is quintessential ride girl. Like if you said to somebody, Hey, you don't know what ride girl is, listen to this. This would be it right here. Words and guitar. And this is just almost a little B-52s that you took. That's really good. Matt, you mentioned B-52s. Another band that didn't have a bass player. You hear some of these bands. A lot of them are indie bands that don't have a bass player. That's so interesting. I've never thought about that, but you're totally right. God damn it.

[1:26:00]Hey, Rob, you're, you played bass. I was going to do a list on the best bass bands That didn't have bass players, But all those indie rack bands for like a certain time period Didn't have bass players. Really? Yes. I don't think the Doors did either. I think they did all of them. The Doors did not. I read about this. Yes. But Ray Manzarek, I believe was the keyboard player And he would often play the bass line At concerts with the keyboard. And so that sounded like they had a bass player, But they also, trust me, I did some research on this today. They actually had session players That would play bass with them. So they didn't have a bass player, But their songs had bass in it. I see. Now, I was going to say that Before I found out I was tricked online, Which is actually illegal. I was going to say Yoko Ono didn't have a lot of bass, But now we find out she has a normal butt. Okay. Again, apologies, Yoko Ono. You have a normal butt. It's enough. I think the bigger apology needs to be to John Lennon. Who you claimed had like a 28 inch butt crack.

[1:27:00]You know what? It's real to me, damn it. I want to believe it. It's real to me. Let's say I want to put that out for real, But Lennon was just like, Let's just make everybody think. So for his whole life, People are just looking behind him. I'm trying to get him to turn around and see if they can check it out. See his butt crack, poking all the way out on my trousers. Who is the person online that's like, You know what I'm going to do? Hey, we got a podcast episode tonight. I'm going to be online. I got to tell you guys something. I'm doing something. Can I tell you into that person? I'm going to make the butt crack on John Lennon And look a foot bigger. And Yoko Ono is going to look a foot smaller. Do whoever that person is. I salute you, fight, sir. John Lennon's long butt crack Brought us at least five minutes of unadulterated joy. All four of us are holding up a salute. This is the most we've ever been in.

[1:28:00]God, we're going to need it a bit. We realized the dream of the long butt crack On John Lennon is dead. It's never coming back. But while it was here, we enjoyed it. It's job was to make us smile. And it's did its job. But now, today, we need to lay the rest. The picture of John Lennon with a butt crack Equal to two 12-inch sandwiches from Subway. Could be chicken teriyaki. Could be a steak. Some of their newer steak ones. Just the steak is great. Oh, is your right hand up or your left hand up? Sorry. Am I going to be canceled? Well, now I've got to start all right. Mine's backwards, so it looks so good. Oh, no. Oh, OK. Do we know anything about who Slater Kenny was listening to? I mean, I wonder, like, there's certainly punk influence. So who were the punk bands that they were into? Sonic Youth is one that they had. There's a bunch of these bands, but one of the ones They were really into.

[1:29:00]The biggest artist that they always, say, Gave them the most inspiration is Patty Smith, Horses. Yeah, OK. If you guys go back, like, we need To pull up a song for Patty Smith, Horses. Rob, that's the song. Because they have said that is the album and the song That has inspired them throughout their whole career. OK. And when you listen to it, you will hear it immediately. Horses? Yeah, Horses. Yeah, there you go. Let's let it go for a second. OK. Patty Smith was what they said was their influence Throughout their career. This might have been our best parody song. What was this one? This was made by Matt and Aaron. Spartan Cakes. Yeah. Oh, god. I don't know, guys. There's that one about Russell and the Cryptids. Don't forget. Oh, that's great. I can hear that for sure. Little babies protest against women's roles. This ended up being one of our fan favorites.

[1:30:00]They get the concerts. It's not very fun. This was the most catchy song on the album for me. For sure. If I were to say there's one song I'm clicking Added to my list, this is it. I know it's corny, but I loved it. I thought it was great. It's enough. I mean, the guitar playing is impeccable. The sound is fun. But I had trouble saying, OK, I'm going to sit down And listen to this album. I mean, it's a 35-minute album. You're telling me you can do the two hour And two minute Taylor Swift double, But you can't do this one? No, I didn't listen to any of that either. No. You know what I did today? You know what I did today instead? I was at a meeting today about that swimming coach. Oh, no. That finally came to a culmination today.

[1:31:00]What happened? 10 weeks later. What do you think happens with a meeting 10 weeks after something happens? Absolutely nothing. Happy Friday, everybody, by the way. Not what you want. It's a personal taste, I know for sure, But it started with the lyrics and the... What do you call that? Bravado? Bravado? Yeah, I know what you're saying. Yeah. You know, it just started to get to me, right? I kind of just thought it was all the same song. I know it's not, but I just think that's... It might be... Ultimately, I like the music, But her singing on the first two songs? Great. Awesome. It's a winning album for you. You want to hear two or three of these songs, Not 40 minutes of it, right? Yep. Buy Her Candy. Ooh, I like the title of the song. Scariest song of all time. Oh, I disagree. We'll see, Aaron. I think the last song... We'll see. The last song is the scariest song of all time,

[1:32:00]And Rob knows it. Next up, Things You Say. You know, this band, Matt, We talked earlier very briefly About Taylor Swift, Pearl Jam Drops, the new album. You know that Slater Kinney Actually was an opening band For Pearl Jam At a festival in 2021. Yep. I believe it was called the Ohana Festival, Matt. Do you know this one? Oh, yeah. It's in Dana Beach, I think. Dana Point, California every year. Oh, what? Yep. And so they were the Opening or the second leader, I don't know what you call it, The second opening band After Brandi Carlisle for Pearl Jam on day two. Wow. Turns out the opening band On day one was Beck. So check this out. This is Beck playing at the Some sort of festival. The Ohana Festival.

[1:33:00]The Ohana Festival where they're opening for Pearl, For Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam. This is Pearl Jam. Opening for... This is Beck opening for Pearl Jam, Matt. Wow. Missed out. Man. Well, actually so Tucker sang on a lot of songs With Eddie Vedder. Bluting his one Big hearted World. Rob, pull up big hearted words from Nemo's favorite. Big? And don't look at what an auto-filled after that. Let's see. Big hearted. Eddie Vedder, Hard Sun. There you go. That's what it's called. Hard Sun. Oh, no. This is off the end of the wipe. Yes. So this is the No. 1 song. So she sang Back of Vocals And has done a few other songs And some solo stuff. Yeah. So she's singing in the background here. Dude, Tucker. Sounds so good.

[1:34:00]That Northwest connection. So I was talking earlier about A Beck festival for Pearl Jam. And Beck... What happened to your connection, Rob? Beck, I'm going to take this connection One step further, man. I mouse died. Rob, can you put your caps like back On if you're going to type, please? I can't get up to the typing thing Because my mouse just died. I have a... I got to plug it in like this. Look how you got to plug the Apple mouse in. You got to plug it in So you can't use it. Rob's going to scroll his laptop. This is embarrassing. I can't use my mouse and die. I don't even have air as Wi-Fi than this. This is the most humiliating thing That's ever happened to be In front of a group of guys. Wait. Do you don't have a trackpad? Aaron, we don't can't all afford A trackpad, okay? We're not all fast pass Eames chairs trackpad guys. What kind of computer Does that have a trackpad? Hey, raise your hand If you have a trackpad That could watch 1997 NCAA final games. And just like, Because you have nothing else going on. Yeah. Yeah. Guys, let's look at

[1:35:00]Let the mouse charge. It's fine. Okay. We can talk. We don't need to rely on videos. Rob, you were talking earlier And you had actually texted us. I don't think you talked too much In detail about it, But like the Portlandia, The show is one of the lead singers From this. Is that right? Yeah, the guitarist. And then Fred Armisen Isn't he one of the members Of that show? He's the other one. Yeah. Turns out Beck also performed With Fred Armisen At a local festival in 2021. The same year they open For Pearl Jam. And he's going to listen To this for a minute. Oh, good song. So Beck's playing And then in the middle Of while he's playing Fred Armisen comes out And does a sound check. He's like, Hey, I've got into a sound Check. Good joke. Fred Armisen is a very talented Drummer. I've seen him drum. So if you watch the YouTube video And essentially Beck's playing This beautiful song, Fred Armisen comes out And he's like,

[1:36:00]Hey, I've got to do a sound Check. I'm playing in like seven hours. And Beck's like, What the fuck are you doing, man? I hate banter from the stage. God, I can't stand it. Banter, bits, I'm out. Beck, guess what? Didn't do it better on this one, Russell. What do you think about A pre-rolling going banter? Oh, Russell, everybody loves that. Before we start, the banter, Everybody loves that. There's not a soul live Who does a little digvestic Greatest thing of all time. Hey, Rob, when it comes to sucking At pre-ad banter In songs, who does it better? Beck did it better. Russell, I loved it. A dance song, 97, Beck really has done Everything with everybody. What a life. If you find a Beck big Bopper bit, I'm gonna, this show's over. That's how we end the show, Russell. We find a Beck big bopper bit.

[1:37:00]That's our key. That's how we get to leave. That's how we get to leave. I like the keyboard thing on this one. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's kind of cool. The 52s. Last up, okay? I would say, Hey, a lot of people would love This finisher, okay? And maybe think it's great. This is Jenny. Not scary, like Russell said. Not scared. If you listen to this, I thought this was a great Closing song. It was like intense and dark And it's big. And it felt scary and dark, Didn't it? It did. It's almost like if somebody Was sleeping next to you And you never knew If they're gonna wake up And yell at you. I would imagine this Where it feels like When you go in And someone wakes up When they don't want to wake up. Yeah. And then they yell at you And then you stay up Because you have so much adrenaline And they immediately go back to sleep. Russell, You will be happy to know That as you Google Beck big bopper, Just those three words. Big bopper. The first thing that pops up, Wikipedia, the big bopper. The second thing that pops up, Beck did a better trailer

[1:38:00]For the clash. Yeah. The big bopper. That's Bessio shit right there. Really? Only once. Yeah. Yeah. That's so good. That's that's, We've made it. We've done it. Yeah, we've really done it. And that doesn't count. Right below Wikipedia. Right below Wikipedia. Right there. It doesn't count. It can't. Put anything on the internet. Matt, if you tie in the Cadillac ranch To that, we will be number one. Hey, can I just call back To a Mustang ranch joke Russell make that I feel like Didn't get enough credit. Yes, sir. When Russell looked at the Mustang ranch And his first thought was, Why are there stairs going up to it? You have to walk upstairs. Would you go in? I thought about that for days. These are guys that are like Coming to pay for sex. You're going to make them Walk up a staircase. What are we talking about? Can you imagine if you had A pulled hamstring Or like a hamstring cramp And you had to walk down the stairs At the end. You got to do the rocky run Before you got to go pay For gin and tonics. What are we doing? Oh, my God. Russell, will you not go to a spot

[1:39:00]Because they have like Horrible parking situations? I mean, huh? I mean, if it was the level of Like, I've got to pay For like the Mustang ranch. Yeah, I don't want to Walk upstairs. No. Here's Russell going up The stairs at the Mustang ranch. He just got dropped off by Magic Mike who agreed to give him A 14 minute car ride Because Russell's staying At his place. Like, can you imagine one of us Knocks on his door one night? We're like, hey. Hey, your dream is coming true. Beverly didn't want to give me The deal I was expecting. I didn't even place a crash. Yeah. Your dream is coming through. We got it. We know your address From the return to Amazon Packages that we did collect. 1972 Humboldt Avenue South. Houndtown, USA. Oh, sorry. We have to interrupt this rub. I apologize. I'll stay. We never talked about Where did the band name

[1:40:00]Slater Kenny come from? [100:02] Yes. [100:02] Where did it come from? [100:04] You know, Rob? [100:04] No. [100:06] It's the street. [100:06] It's the streets that they grew up on. [100:08] Did we talk about that? [100:10] Did we do the maps bit? [100:10] Yeah, we did. [100:12] Oh, sorry. [100:12] Are we already for this? [100:14] I don't think we did it. [100:18] This was the intersection of two streets. [100:22] Matt, can you tell us how do you get to those streets? [100:24] I can't tell you. [100:24] No. [100:26] Oh, I guess you got to get through some things, but not everything. [100:28] Get on an 90 and head west. [100:30] Here we go. [100:32] We're not going west. [100:34] Speaking of, I almost did the evidence band. [100:38] The yeah, yes. [100:40] That does maps. [100:40] Is that right? [100:42] Yeah. [100:44] I thought about that too as one of the. [100:46] Base player either, Matt. [100:48] Wow. [100:48] But I thought the yeah, yes, must have really listened to these guys. [100:52] Yeah. [100:52] No base player. [100:54] No base player. [100:54] That reminds me when I ordered all this hydrofluoric acid. [100:58] Oh Russell,

[1:41:00]there was absolutely no base. [101:06] It's a. [101:08] I don't know science for anything. [101:11] I made an acid joke like an hour ago, but you didn't hear me. [101:14] It's like a week spot in my system. [101:16] I don't know science. [101:18] Aaron what? [101:19] Listening, Aaron, but he did not hear you. [101:21] Aaron, I'm going to cut out that. I don't know it. [101:23] I'm not smart enough. [101:24] I'm going to cut out that acid joke, Aaron, and put it here. [101:27] Yeah. [101:28] Okay. [101:29] So it's going to be heard in all its glory. [101:31] More like asynically because it's the opposite of a base. [101:34] Listen, this album is at 189 Slater Kenny. [101:37] Dig me out. [101:38] Okay. [101:39] It's right girl. [101:40] It's grunge in 1997. [101:42] It's a seminal album. [101:43] Every it's it's a women punk rock. [101:46] The standard. [101:48] They should it be at 189. [101:50] What do we think about this? [101:51] Is it rolling well tone? [101:52] That means it's perfect at 189. [101:54] Is it a rolling grown? [101:57] Okay. [101:58] It should be a higher than 189,

[1:42:00]which on this list would be a higher number. [102:02] But in, like most things, like when I go to a high jump competition, that would be good to going higher. [102:08] In this case, it's not good because it's a higher number. [102:11] And of course, this list number one is the best. [102:14] Or would this be, did this get rolling bone? [102:17] It should have been even higher up on the list. [102:19] Okay. [102:20] It should have been a 187. [102:21] It should have been a 188. [102:22] Okay. [102:23] That would be a rolling bone. [102:24] What do we think? [102:25] Dig me out. [102:26] Slater Kenny, rolling well toned, rolling bone or rolling grown? [102:29] Man. [102:32] I feel like this belongs somewhere in the top half. [102:35] Right. [102:36] Like it feels like this is maybe just slightly too high, particularly because at 214. [102:41] We've got wildflowers by Tom Petty, but we've got some pavement coming up, which is like from 1989. [102:47] We've got some beastie boys, which I think is just, I just would put a few of these albums that are coming up in the next 15 ahead of them. [102:54] So I don't think it's like way off. [102:56] So I'm just going to kind of check it out and say it's rolling well toned here that right around this area

[1:43:00]is pretty good, even though I think there's a couple of albums that could be better than it. [103:04] Aaron, what do you think? [103:05] Rolling well toned, rolling bone or rolling grown? [103:07] I think the sound of this album, the guitar sound and the vocal sound are a bit abrasive. [103:13] And I think that's on purpose. [103:15] I don't, I don't think this is meant to be music you can ignore. [103:20] I don't think it's meant to be music you can't engage with. [103:23] They wanted you to engage with it. [103:25] They wanted you to listen. [103:26] It's hard to listen to. [103:27] It's not something I'm going to come back to, but I think it's important. [103:30] I think it matters. [103:31] And I think it's well done. [103:33] I think they had a perspective and a sound and they stuck with it. [103:37] So I'm going to give it a rolling well toned. [103:39] Russell, what do you think rolling well toned, rolling grown? [103:42] So before we came down and recorded this episode, I was sitting upstairs at the the turntable, if you will, the $50 record player that I have upstairs. [103:53] And I was sitting there with the upstairs roommate. [103:55] We were listening. [103:56] We put on a record. [103:57] We put on Bad Out of Hell by Meatloaf. [104:00] Here's the songs. [104:01] Bad out of hell. [104:03] You took the words right out

[1:44:00]of my mouth. [104:05] Heaven can't wait. [104:06] All revved up, no place to go. [104:08] Side two, two out of three, three is a very bad paradise by the dashboard light. [104:13] You're crying out loud. [104:14] We listened to this. [104:16] And then we listen to the Snyder. [104:19] Slider Kenny album right after it. [104:22] There's no fucking way. [104:23] There's no way that album we just listened to is better than that Meatloaf album. [104:28] And I don't even know if Meatloaf is on the list at all. [104:31] The band or the food. [104:32] But when you listen to this album back to back with like other iconic albums, I just don't think it ranks up there and I know it's probably influential and there's songs that are very catchy and I can get with This is Rolling Grown. This shouldn't be the sign on the list. There are so many iconic albums that sold Billions that need to be on this list. We haven't heard of me yet. I'm gonna say Rolling Grown Russell listen to this You're telling me this shouldn't be up here. Give me a break Russell with the magic on that NFL

[1:45:00]Guys I don't can you imagine the fuck you're dating Russell. That's a true story. You're dating Russell. You're at home Russell forces you to listen to bad out of hell followed immediately by Slater Kenny You then plan a night out to the science museum and Russell says I don't know Rob stop I picked out five albums and I said you pick any of the five And the one that was picked was me loaf Wow That's true love and no, I won't do that Russell Would you could you sing I would do anything for love to this person to your upstairs roommate? [105:41] Would you say that accurate song you could sing to them? It's getting a little intense, but Hey, we're just wondering For real if you could have one album it says Slater Kenny album or me loaf, which are you picking me loaf? [105:57] It's not a big question I mean, that's what I said like the Slater Kenny album is not fun to listen to like I

[1:46:00]It's not enjoyable in any way Unfortunately, you guys are incorrect what incorrect is what I said. It's not like I said incorrect, but I said incorrect Yeah, I don't know about that this album gets a rolling end of Relay Shown chips This album is end of breaking up. It's it's it's one of the ultimate breakup albums Russell this album I'm not sure if you know this Russell, but this album was made while the band was breaking up It's probably the only album to ever be like that Sounds like an inspiration for a list you guys want me to do the list again. I should check this out Russell do not tempt me with having you do the list again because you know I won't do it It's it's all about God, I would think that's funny next up Hey, we're listening to a band that always makes me think about Aaron as they're talking about that supple wrist We've got Tommy by the who oh

[1:47:00]Put that wrist up there. Let's get the most supple wrist guys. Put your wrist up. Let's go wrist jack wrist jack And then you know where's Russell guys just rustling the supple wrist It's just me Russell's give it. I like what Russell's do it rise me to go to Vegas with Russell. Hey guys I don't know where I can see each other for a while. Happy Friday. Oh Have a good weekend Russell that is What a nasty thing to say. It's time Say that to me. You'd be want to know what I'm doing when I say happy Friday Rob Hey, double album next week. Thanks for the ride up. Thanks for the ride up to the ranch I just need to Head up here and [107:46] I see the they're looking through a window at me Is that really so long doing all those one-armed push-ups? They have to be how damn it Aaron Shit That's really good They're looking they're looking at me and I can see that they are smiling big and making the money symbol

[1:48:00]Okay, so that's a good sign. I'm sure I mean you like you can't even imagine how hard a one-armed push-up is that's like wow To be clear, I cannot do one Like Stallone, he's not very tall. He's probably like five eight. He's probably like a Rob's height, right? [108:20] That's so fucked
