[00:00]in 2020 four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums as decided by

[00:04]rolling stone magazine this resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music excoriated the

[00:08]order and led us to making this podcast we are far from experts we promise to do almost no research

[00:14]almost fuck research research in 2020 four friends decided to listen to it all over you just keep

[00:21]going okay research is fine love that blizzard all opinions are our own unless in 2020

[00:29]we ordered a lot of research peanut butter cup

[00:32]excuse me i've singed once but i'm researching now get out of here with that uh all opinions

[00:41]are our own unless you disagree please sit back and enjoy back did it better this is album of 56

[00:48]exile in guyville by liz fair folks okay now last week we heard probably one of the greatest opening

[00:55]songs of all time but i'm going to tell you something right now i've been tuning into my

[00:59]radio station and they've noticed something about our podcast let's listen oh there's that's the only

[01:05]one and thank god rob is back wolfman russ is gone okay wolfman russ caused a lot of problems in rob's

[01:10]life with that song that he did i'll tell you that right now he gets out of control she feels that

[01:15]yeah that full moon comes out and the wolfman runs wild you know

[01:20]what's up everybody this is k-rob k-r-o-b we've had a lot of questions about why doesn't matt talk

[01:29]now i'm gonna tell you a little secret oh yeah

[01:33]yeah but it gets good this one it's actually the only time he

[01:51]talks is with a little nudging

[01:56]how much he listens to us

[01:59]is very stunning

[02:04]here's a little secret that i'll tell you that you can't tell anyone about

[02:15]matt is actually quite chatty yes but i always edit him out

[02:23]please don't tell him that i do it

[02:29]and i don't think he'll ever know

[02:32]you would think matt would figure it out

[02:37]but he's never heard an episode

[02:40]that's true

[02:41]that's why matt

[02:43]he doesn't seem to say nothing

[02:47]i edit him out

[02:51]like it's my job

[02:56]it is

[02:56]that's the main host

[02:58]because when

[02:59]matt

[02:59]doesn't get to say nothing

[03:04]then you

[03:08]get to hear more of rob

[03:13]when you want to hear about the greatest

[03:17]of all time

[03:18]harmonizing

[03:20]a bunch of

[03:20]i can tell

[03:24]if you want to hear from guys who chat

[03:27]and then they get off track

[03:29]you can't tell

[03:29]i'll try that again

[03:31]hello

[03:31]i've got the perfect podcast for you

[03:34]jack

[03:34]well that's what i gotta do with myself

[03:36]you guys don't do it better

[03:37]welcome everybody to back to the better

[03:39]we're all the way up to number 56

[03:40]we are talking about exile in guyville

[03:43]and i've got three guys here who would never fucking run

[03:46]but it's mostly due to their cardiovascular fitness

[03:48]i've got russ in minnesota

[03:50]russ how are you doing

[03:51]i know i don't always realize how sleazy it is

[03:54]doing this podcast with you guys

[03:56]but there's something about podcasting with you

[03:58]that makes me want to talk to you about podcasting with you

[03:59]i want to say two claps and a rick flair

[04:01]i've got matt in minneapolis

[04:07]matt how are you doing

[04:08]it's a time for the rating system

[04:10]shut the hell shut the hell up

[04:12]and i've got somebody that i would like to fuck like a dog

[04:19]aaron how are you doing tonight in california

[04:20]well rob i know you were hoping i would say

[04:22]that i wanted to be your blowjob queen

[04:24]but what i'm really wanting to say is

[04:26]don't you know no one could part two rivers met

[04:28]let's talk about this album

[04:29]and guys guess what

[04:31]we've got a special guest tonight

[04:33]from manhattan proper

[04:35]we've got suzanne

[04:36]suzanne how are you doing tonight

[04:37]hi i'm doing great

[04:39]i am suzanne

[04:40]i am rob's token lesbian friend

[04:42]everyone needs one

[04:43]but he is my token um midwestern friend

[04:47]and everyone needs one of those as well

[04:48]i love it

[04:49]if matt if matt and aaron and i were your token friends

[04:53]what would be your matt token friend

[04:54]like the token referee friend

[04:56]or who would matt and aaron be as your token friends

[04:59]no you guys are pretty good friends

[04:59]pretty much like my token friends

[05:00]i actually don't get out very much at all

[05:02]you're just my you're like my only one

[05:04]except when aaron and i went to uh the arcade together

[05:07]yeah

[05:08]then he was my token friend

[05:10]because i give him some dollars

[05:11]he go get some tokens for me

[05:12]but guys i'm not talking that much

[05:14]just on uh week weekends

[05:16]and most weeknights

[05:17]okay uh but we are all the way in

[05:20]i was going to ask you suzanne

[05:22]as i ask all our guests

[05:22]would you go on a date with russell

[05:24]but uh you did just announce that uh

[05:26]no the answer is no right

[05:28]yes i would i would say no

[05:29]i've been listening

[05:30]i'm a huge fan

[05:31]i'm a huge fan

[05:32]i've listened to every every single one of these episodes

[05:35]yeah oh yesterday

[05:36]suzanne suzanne did just give me

[05:39]now now think of this as appropriate

[05:41]suzanne did buy for her son recently

[05:43]and then realized that he couldn't give it to her

[05:45]what 13 year old son now

[05:47]yeah yeah

[05:47]a ball wash

[05:49]and like a ball deodorizer and a ball spray

[05:52]so you're a 13 year old

[05:53]i thought it was funny

[05:55]i thought he would think it was funny

[05:57]and i told my mother

[05:58]and she's like that's wildly enough

[05:59]what do you guys think

[06:01]thumbs up thumbs down

[06:02]if you were a 13 year old

[06:03]would you want to get a gift

[06:04]to keep your balls clean from your mom

[06:06]i'm just trying to picture this

[06:07]well that's pretty rough

[06:08]what did you get

[06:09]what did your parents get you

[06:10]oh i got some ball wash

[06:12]and some ball deodorant

[06:13]and yeah smell how nice my balls smell

[06:16]they smell slightly less like malt

[06:18]i use the ball wash today

[06:20]and i know it's a man's product

[06:21]because you know what uh color it was

[06:23]when it came out of the container

[06:24]what color

[06:25]it's black

[06:26]black as night

[06:28]it's soap that's black as night

[06:29]and you rub it all over your balls

[06:30]and i'm like this does not seem right to me at all

[06:33]so did everybody catch the the fact

[06:36]that i decided not to give it to my son

[06:38]and i decided to give it to rob of course

[06:40]it's very kind

[06:43]he loved it

[06:43]it's a gift that when you get it though

[06:45]you're kind of like

[06:45]oh really like

[06:47]this is the impression i'm leaving on people

[06:49]yeah like a coupon for a makeover or whatever

[06:51]it's like hey i really think you should have this

[06:53]it's like here here's three different products

[06:55]that make your balls smell better

[06:56]it's like well i guess

[06:57]i have been wearing more shorts

[06:59]lately here in the summer

[07:00]i don't know what's going on

[07:01]uh but let's get into

[07:03]welcome suzanne

[07:03]welcome to the podcast

[07:04]we did we did have to get a uh female on here

[07:08]um a lot of people were telling me

[07:09]you know the podcast needs a female voice

[07:11]and the person that was telling me that

[07:12]is now the guest on the podcast

[07:14]so it's strange how that worked out

[07:15]one of those be careful what you wish for type situations

[07:18]we are getting uh

[07:21]and i wish for black ball wash

[07:23]and that came true

[07:24]we are getting into listener feedback

[07:26]uh guys we got a bex to the bex line

[07:28]if you want to contact us

[07:29]contact the bex line

[07:30]it's 802-277-BEC

[07:32]and don't be weirded out if i reply

[07:34]because i've been doing that lately

[07:35]a lot of people do not reply to my replies

[07:38]uh so here's somebody who is mad about our video draft

[07:42]what oh sad

[07:43]upset of the draft was rob not drafting wicked game by chris isaac

[07:47]maybe it didn't make the top 100 music videos of all time

[07:51]which would also be an upset

[07:52]okay so i admit i just saw the word upset

[07:55]and i thought they were upset with us

[07:56]but that's not how they're using that word

[07:57]i didn't really read what they're

[07:58]that is a female

[07:59]give me video from from what i remember

[08:00]chris isaac was a horny horny man

[08:02]i'll tell you i watched it today

[08:04]i my kids walked by when i was watching

[08:07]and i was like well i can't be watching this in front of my kid

[08:09]it's black and white

[08:10]and he's chasing like this topless woman on a beach

[08:14]right and that's the whole video

[08:16]and the whole the video is just hot as hell

[08:19]and you're totally right

[08:20]i should have picked that video instead of

[08:22]i only want to be with you by hootie and the blowfish

[08:25]with the exception of dan marino is just

[08:29]distinctly uh not hot

[08:31]technically the hootie and the blowfish was not an official pick

[08:34]because it came in after hot sauce on feet

[08:37]if you recall correctly

[08:38]so the hootie and the blowfish not an official pick

[08:41]russ did want me to edit out hootie and the blowfish

[08:43]i was like you should have just ended on the hot sauce

[08:46]they can't think my fourth video is just hot sauce on feet

[08:48]like some weirdo

[08:49]but i will say the same person who then texted me that about wicked game

[08:51]then texted me the clip of

[08:53]have you guys seen that don't be a menace

[08:55]in south central drinking uh juice

[08:58]no

[08:58]no

[08:58]the movie

[08:59]there's a scene where this guy is having foreplay with a woman for the first time

[09:03]and they're doing all these

[09:04]it's a wayans brothers movie

[09:06]so they're doing all these very funny things

[09:07]and at some point she goes lick my feet

[09:08]and they show her feet

[09:10]and they're like these black crusty like

[09:13]like dry skin all over type feet

[09:15]he goes

[09:15]so he reaches into the uh refrigerator

[09:18]and gets a bunch of hot sauce

[09:19]and puts it all over the feet

[09:20]and i was like

[09:20]i mean

[09:21]our audience connects with us

[09:23]see that's the thing is as soon as you're like

[09:24]does the audience get where we're going

[09:26]the audience is texting me pictures of

[09:27]or videos of hot sauce

[09:28]on feet now

[09:29]i know suzanne doesn't want us talking about kinks

[09:31]but if these two becks came from the same bexter

[09:33]that's terrifying

[09:34]you've got one hot sauce on feet video

[09:37]and the other is wicked game

[09:38]like there's nothing in the middle there is there

[09:40]he's just sitting at home crying

[09:42]going

[09:42]he's just pouring hot sauce all over his feet

[09:46]this bex this bexter is not a dentist

[09:49]is he or she

[09:50]uh i don't i actually i have

[09:53]i actually have no idea who this person is

[09:55]hey dentists or not

[09:56]they're a dumb shit right

[09:57]i know

[09:58]that is not true

[09:59]all right and then we got one more bex

[10:04]i just listened to the jimmy hendrix episode

[10:07]and wanted to write in about two things

[10:09]one i also still listen to pandora

[10:12]and prefer it to spotify

[10:13]for the same reasons rob mentioned

[10:15]it is my favorite way to find new to me music

[10:18]two i'd like to file a complaint

[10:20]that you skipped over my favorite part of the pod

[10:23]rolling going

[10:24]i will never know what aaron ate last week

[10:26]or what odd animal behavior he observed recently

[10:28]you gotta give the people what they want

[10:32]they want to hear they want to hear from me man

[10:34]after our music video draft was just such a wild hit

[10:40]that i tried to replicate it in the very next episode

[10:42]and immediately that all got edited out with the first pass

[10:45]yep

[10:45]um that we did we deleted our rolling going

[10:49]because we just it was taking up too much time

[10:51]and somebody actually noticed

[10:52]it blows my mind

[10:53]i didn't think anybody would possibly care

[10:55]what what we were talking about

[10:57]guys that is true

[10:58]it is the best part of the podcast

[11:00]it really is

[11:01]that's the and and then that's when i sort of stopped listening right after that

[11:04]i mean i've never done that before

[11:06]but sometimes

[11:07]but it is the best part

[11:09]but will you will you admit

[11:10]i notice you have a plant behind you

[11:11]will you admit there are times when aaron talks about food stuff

[11:14]you're like who the fuck is this guy right

[11:16]admit it

[11:17]yeah the dandelion greens were just a little over the top

[11:20]everybody i've told you about dandelion green goes

[11:23]oh my god how pretentious

[11:24]that's verbatim

[11:25]whatever

[11:26]they're super cheap

[11:27]they're not even pretentious

[11:28]you thought it was pretentious when he gave his kid tortellini for lunch

[11:32]like what that's that's totally normal lunch food for kids

[11:35]yeah that's normal for a parent who also gives his son ball wash

[11:38]it's totally normal

[11:39]not normal

[11:42]not normal

[11:43]but is tortellini a perfectly normal hiking lunch

[11:48]yes it is

[11:50]in a canister

[11:52]yes

[11:53]and then

[11:54]we have

[11:54]so you go for a hike

[11:55]you're packing up your ball deodorizing spray

[11:57]and you just eat it

[11:58]you just do things at tortellini

[11:59]and you're heading out

[12:00]it's a finger food

[12:01]you don't need any utensils

[12:03]i don't like i don't like this having two crazies on this pod

[12:07]let's move it along rob

[12:08]yeah don't tempt us by saying finger food

[12:10]i know what you're doing with that

[12:11]okay this is a clean podcast

[12:14]this is supposed to be clean yeah

[12:15]uh all right so yeah sorry that we didn't do a rolling going

[12:19]that is totally russ's fault

[12:20]so uh you can blame russell for that

[12:22]please send all text messages in the beginning

[12:23]i will be putting out russell's phone number

[12:25]on the little description of this episode

[12:27]hey check out the link in the description box below

[12:27]check that out if you want to text russ directly

[12:30]if i get a text or two calls

[12:31]it will replicate what i've achieved in my the dating world this week

[12:35]i'm killing it

[12:35]one text two calls killing it

[12:37]russell at what point do you get calls

[12:39]like if you don't do you get calls ever without texting

[12:42]like do you get calls right from the apps ever

[12:44]is it always texting first

[12:45]i think somebody would call versus you

[12:47]like psychopath

[12:48]like from the authorities

[12:49]or someone who wants to see me and talk to me

[12:51]sir we've talked about this

[12:53]uh no like do you ever just get calls straight from the app

[12:57]or do people always text first

[12:59]no you you message through the app

[13:00]and then sometimes you'll exchange numbers

[13:02]but there are some times i have met women who have said

[13:05]i would like to have a phone conversation before i go out with you

[13:08]it's happened a handful of times where

[13:09]a woman has wanted to have like a 30-minute hour-long phone conversation

[13:13]before agreeing to go on a first date

[13:15]gone no thanks i'll see you that's

[13:18]the worst part about that is though is i can get away with the the talking back and forth

[13:22]for a little bit and listening and being like uh-huh uh-huh uh-huh uh-huh but then i show up

[13:27]and i'm like my my looks are getting in the way it's not a good deal i don't like the phone

[13:31]conversation i'd rather just ease in with that you know i don't want to be shopping on that

[13:35]yeah i i so you're worried that you're going to show them that your personality is too good

[13:39]my personality out outshines my other features is what i'm worried about

[13:43]russ i don't think that's true at all

[13:45]let's get into everybody's favorite section apparently and sorry we deleted it to everybody

[13:53]who's so all right uh mad at us outraged that's what i was going to say

[13:57]do you think someone really sent that in or did rob have to just make that up

[14:02]i love listening to music that music videos that rob jacked off to when he was 12 that's

[14:10]my favorite part of the podcast aaron's like aaron's crying his eyes out with his

[14:15]immobile right hand the only good thing is is that his right hand is blown up to the size of a balloon

[14:21]a stranger right yeah it's so soft and like it's warm

[14:27]aaron thinks he's having a moment with uh pro wrestler the size of hollywood hulk hogan or

[14:34]something with that inflated hand comes in first 20 minutes of the podcast he's trying he's trying

[14:39]to beat you rob this is what it's like getting jacked off by adrian peterson he notoriously had

[14:43]a big hand by the way just let everybody know no hey it was a firm shake is what it was really

[14:48]was right it was a firm shake rob he could grab it very hard who was the it was a udesi

[14:54]connection udesi wasn't he the guy they'd always show him with his hand on like eight

[14:57]by eleven piece of paper and it was like way bigger than it they'd play that on the vikings

[15:00]broadcast and i'd always turn to my dad and be like can you imagine getting jacked off by that

[15:04]guy he'd turn off the tv and run upstairs crying but i don't know what are you gonna do uh rolling

[15:08]going so guys before we started aaron promised us he's got a great rolling going aaron what's

[15:12]your rolling going this week yeah i'm super stoked i as much as i talk about uh eating food

[15:17]and green things i've i'm not a person who grows my own things although i'm not i know others on

[15:23]the podcast could probably you're more of a shower yeah not a grower that's probably not a grower

[15:27]that's probably the answer but um okay i did this week i happened to buy a plant shop in the

[15:33]neighborhood and they had carnivorous plants so i we've been having a terrible fruit fly

[15:40]problem in the kitchen it's it's melon season here and the fruit flies just love the melons

[15:46]so you go buy the melons and you get fruit flies all over the kitchen so i was this was perfect

[15:51]timing a nice little carnivorous plant i'm so stoked every morning i get up to see if it caught

[15:57]any fruit flies it's amazing so that's that's uh that's what's rolling going with me man i'm super

[16:00]stoked about my carnivorous can you fucking imagine being aaron's kid and you're like oh my god we're

[16:06]gonna get a pet oh this is gonna be so fun he's like guess what whatever your name is i came home

[16:12]with a plant and we're gonna feed it fruit flies our kitchen is absolutely swarming with fruit

[16:18]flies right now well i got a plant to take care of it i'm so i mean what is that gonna eat is that

[16:23]gonna eat like one fruit fly a day that's not gonna take care of your fruit fry problem

[16:27]unless it's so my thought is if the carnivorous plant eats enough flies it's gonna scare away the

[16:32]other ones they're gonna say like oh don't go to that house because they got a plant that eats

[16:36]flies in there we'll see how it turns is that a typical fly reaction yeah it sees its buddies

[16:41]being eaten and says stay away that's what i'm hoping aaron's picturing them going back to their

[16:45]fruit fly hive shaking their little tails don't go to that house you know that house with all the

[16:51]raw chicken out in metal pails don't go there the person who grows these uh carnivorous plants happens

[16:56]to work at the uc berkeley botanical garden and they have a whole carnivorous plant greenhouse

[17:01]that i go into every time i go there so i felt like i was buying our carnivorous plant from like a

[17:06]like a celebrity so i'm really sad you said you said you get up and you look to see what it's

[17:11]eating can you tell that it's eaten fruit flies or is it just like you go from i guess i didn't

[17:16]it's got a little bib it's got a little bit of a picture of a fly on it this plant has

[17:20]leaves and then all of these i like it rob nice all these leaves have these tiny little uh

[17:26]almost like tentacles on them so when it yeah when it catches something it's right there for

[17:31]for me to see it's not like it's not a venus fly trap so it doesn't close around whatever it's got

[17:35]so yeah this morning i could see it had you know five or six fruit flies and it's in its little

[17:40]you know tentacles it's exciting you need to keep your hands away from it will it like snap and

[17:45]bite your fingers i haven't tried yet i don't know that's a really good question i do think

[17:50]about your kids see see what it does to your kids just put it in his room while he's sleeping and

[17:56]it's in the market i like hey dad why is this plant biting me oh yeah i wanted to see what it

[18:03]would do when i put it in there i don't want to try it on me i thought i'd try it on you i'm not

[18:08]some weirdo putting us putting a carnivorous plants down by my private parts i don't think

[18:13]i would do that no way okay and who would do that and then not be allowed in the greenhouse at uc

[18:17]berkeley anymore so instead i gotta go to a plant store oh i was walking around i walked by a plant

[18:22]store you know aaron there's a lot of shit you walk around by it makes me very suspicious of

[18:26]walking around needs more sunlight than it's been getting right now because it's foggy here but

[18:31]i'm i'm gonna keep reading the care instructions i can reach right out to the i have the email

[18:35]address of the guy who grew them so if anything goes wrong i'm just gonna send him an email

[18:39]guys can you imagine by the way the group of people that's in the carnivorous plant section

[18:43]like often at the greenhouse just a bunch of people that look just like aaron and they're

[18:49]just walking around not a place to go if you want to meet women uh matt rolling going how's it going

[18:56]uh good good i've i'm i've just i my level of excitement and uh the energy i bring is going to

[19:04]be down today because i just spent eight hours at valley fair oh no a bunch of kids so explain to

[19:10]our non-minnesota listeners both of them what is valley fair um it's a theme park and i'm what what

[19:17]is the six flags like six flags ask you know theme park what is the theme poorly drawn tattoos with

[19:26]and uh weird t-shirts that have swear words on them

[19:30]like there was one mom so i think i've talked about going up to the hayward koa it's a campground

[19:38]to go up to and every year and it's in the kind of the middle of wisconsin northern wisconsin kind

[19:43]of a deal and the t-shirt uh looking at the t-shirts that everybody's got is just phenomenal

[19:49]uh i think the two highlights are some lady this one lady's just drunk as hell at a family koa

[19:56]and you know her shirt says i'm a ray of fucking sunshine you know and it's just like

[20:00]that's typical and so the lady today the one who took the the cake at uh valley fair was she was

[20:07]there with her two kind of teenage kids and husband and and she said uh were they looking

[20:13]for a poly relationship because if so well this lady russell let me tell you the t-shirt she had

[20:21]on before you rest goes up to every group people are you looking for a poly relationship yeah

[20:26]so she had terrified of these things i've run it the other way if you are

[20:30]yeah me neither she had a shirt on that said ringleader of the shit show

[20:34]oh i like that yeah and so of course my kid who's nine it just points and look you know what it's

[20:41]going on so yeah so i don't know i think i i do think eventually some point on this planet

[20:48]it is going to be cool to be cleanly shaven and not have any tattoos i think at some point that's

[20:55]cool but right now i mean i am just i'm a fish out of water without having any tattoos walking around

[21:02]yeah old man no tattoos i i look like a weirdo you would you get a tattoo man like what about

[21:08]like one with like your kid's name on it or something i don't know probably what if they

[21:12]were huge disappointments you don't want to do that yeah maybe a beck did a better one you know

[21:20]i don't know oh my god that is the best idea guys we should all get back that a better tattoo suzanne

[21:25]included because you're on this episode but yeah we could all get one we'll go to vegas we'll get

[21:30]one yeah aaron will have to make room next to his bird cage or whatever he's got rob if you were

[21:35]going to get a tattoo where would be the most attractive and least attractive places on your

[21:39]body you would put it no i know rob i've got it there there was a gentleman who's of your stature

[21:44]today and he had a he had a son yeah he was running the balloon dart game yeah he had a

[21:51]bunch of tattoos but he had a son around his belly button and it kind of got a little stretched out

[21:55]and that was really a bad one it wasn't the same as the d'angelo cum gutters is that what you called

[22:01]it that's well that's a scientific name that's what doctors call it that's what my doctor calls

[22:07]it that actually sounds beautiful to me i i've i've always wanted to get my belly tattooed like

[22:10]i'd like to get like a big tiger like an old like old navy style on my belly but like a like a son

[22:16]that just grows with you as you get older that's i mean you know what about like a spider on your

[22:21]head and then if you didn't want people to see you grow your hair my hair except you don't have hair

[22:25]no offense for aaron aaron could you could do like the letter c or something on your head and

[22:28]grow your hair out and cover it up i was gonna say toilet bowl and i didn't so i feel like i

[22:34]should get credit for not saying thank you you're welcome for that bro my uh my cousin my cousin i'm

[22:40]stealing the story from my cousin but he saw a guy walking down the street and he had his arm around

[22:44]two women like this one of which was pregnant and he just had a shirt on that said i heart blowjobs

[22:50]actually correct and i was like

[22:55]there's so many steps to that shirt where it's like you somebody sees it in the store and goes

[23:01]god you know who this would be great for is jerry god my friend jerry that guy he fucking loves

[23:06]blowjobs like he talks about him all the time he has two women that walk around with him when he

[23:11]wears these types of shirts too so then you go just picture you take that shirt off the rack

[23:15]you go to i'm assuming a person working at the store you say i'm buying this shirt

[23:20]the one that i need to receive a gift receipt yeah i mean i'm buying this shirt i'm buying this shirt

[23:25]i mean do you you have to say to him first like what do you say at the person wearing the shirt

[23:28]you say like well it's not for me it's for my friend who loves blowjobs i mean i also love

[23:33]blowjobs but this shirt is not for me or i don't know maybe it is like whatever i think it's one

[23:38]of those days where you go into spencer gifts you kind of look at who's working behind the counter

[23:41]and you either decide this is someone who i can who i can buy this from or else i just got to come

[23:46]back again tomorrow you just you repeat it until someone's there where you're comfortable buying it

[23:50]from them can you imagine though somebody at a store that sells shirts like that like if they

[23:53]get pissed when they see they'd be like

[23:55]well i love blowjob oh great real fancy yeah i have a shirt do any of you guys have any dirty

[24:01]funny shirts it might surprise you that i do have a very dirty funny shirt that i only wear at

[24:04]parties that i throw i had i did have one dirty shirt back in the day in college i went to greece

[24:09]for interim for a month and i remember the one t-shirt i bought with like my one the musical

[24:15]greece the musical greece

[24:20]suzanne sing some greece quick i don't know any

[24:25]more tell me more but that'd be so funny if you went on that trip to greece and you were like god

[24:31]i can't wait to see john travolta yes it was crazy whoa okay go ahead sorry what was i talking

[24:39]about is the rating time so i like i didn't get any souvenirs the only souvenir i got was from a

[24:48]t-shirt store and it just said athens greece same shit different day

[24:52]you

[24:55]that was my souvenir from my trip to greece

[24:57]that is john travolta same shit

[25:00]i don't think that's the official slogan of athens it doesn't make me want to go visit athens

[25:08]i don't know what is this a fucking acropolis jesus christ same shit different day you gotta

[25:12]know what i'm talking about what is this one of the oldest examples of society still around

[25:18]same shit different thing rob what was your dirty shirt i had was two stick figures

[25:25]one that said me under it and one that said you and the one with me had a substantially larger

[25:29]penis that's it that was the whole thing yeah that was it it was just said me big penis you

[25:35]little penis subtle tasteful to the point uh suzanne rolling going how's it going with you

[25:42]well you know me i'm i'm always talking about working out and how much i love to work out so

[25:47]i hope i don't bore people by talking about working out again um but well we didn't know that this is

[25:54]the first time you've been on the podcast so she talks along with the podcast she thinks she's

[25:58]part of it well let's just say i i love my couch and i don't really get off it much and uh but

[26:05]recently i decided that you know what would the covid 20 or whatever that maybe i should get into

[26:11]shape so i like many got a peloton and i've been yeah yeah and i can share your name on here if you

[26:18]want us to follow you no and i've been using it sometimes right rob we're friends we're peloton

[26:26]friends right but suzanne and i have done the video ride together where you can call each other

[26:31]and then watch each other from the front that sounds horrible it's so bad actually it's really

[26:37]fun russ a lot of people i did yeah i did with rob once and he's he just i clicked on his video

[26:43]popped up and he was shirtless it was great oh my god that happens every time i call rob on the phone

[26:48]every time i facetime him he's naked my stick figure big dick shirt is in the wash okay what

[26:55]am i gonna wear i'm like wait are you first day of school coming up you gotta get that clean

[27:00]i'm like wait are you always like this or is this just because i called like what i don't get it and

[27:05]then jenny's there and she takes her top off it's just very strange anyway i can tell you that

[27:11]doesn't happen as much don't get don't get erin all excited to get on this podcast yeah so rob and

[27:16]i did this hand getting swollen

[27:18]i did this workout together and so you can see a video of each other and you can also hear there's

[27:24]audio so i'm listening to the you know the cute peloton girl going okay everybody let's go and

[27:30]then i hear rob huffing and puffing and groaning and i'm like no this is not working at all the

[27:37]only difference is normally when i'm groaning and huffing and puffing like that there's nobody saying

[27:40]oh good job keep going like usually it's a lot of silence it's with your vr goggles on right and

[27:47]then somebody says like you know what i'm going to do i'm going to do this i'm going to do this i'm

[27:48]actually have to get up pretty early tomorrow we should probably just go to bed

[27:51]rob you were mentioning the groaning and moaning at the gym i was at the gym the other day and

[27:56]there was someone it was the loudest moaner and groaner at the gym i've ever heard in my life no

[28:00]you don't moan i just want to stop you right no this was moaning and groaning it was you could

[28:04]hear them across the gym you could hear them across the entire gym and it it sounded like

[28:09]the guy was having like a sexual moment with every rep he did and it got louder and louder

[28:14]and everyone was looking at him i was like he's just he's messing with people right

[28:18]that's what rob was doing

[28:19]suzanne what who what what is your peloton style are you a like hip-hop listener are you a you know

[28:35]what kind of what's your peloton styles 15 minutes 30 minute hour long are you getting into the rosie

[28:40]and rob uh long hard rides or what what's your style thank you thank you for asking yeah it's a

[28:46]shirt i have actually

[28:48]um i like i've decided that the timing is what it's about and if i i was you know if i go down

[28:54]to 20 minutes then i'm actually going to do it so and also um yeah i've only done it about five

[29:00]times in about eight months but when i do it i did it i did it last night what's your weekly streak

[29:06]oh one good so here's the question so it was family you didn't buy it third hand from rob

[29:12]because i've heard that that one comes with certain rashes or other types of things you

[29:15]didn't buy it third hand did you listen suzanne listen be cool but if jenny asked if you can get

[29:20]herpes from a bike seat you gotta say yes you know what's true about my bike seat now it smells

[29:24]fantastic because i'm rubbing that black stuff all over my balls whenever i get a chance that is

[29:28]nasty perfect what are we talking about you guys you guys are having a pretentious peloton

[29:34]conversation even aaron sits this one out he's like even i can't do peloton well that's because

[29:39]you would fall off and break his hand the peloton is going zero miles an hour that's dangerous speed

[29:43]for him

[29:45]tell you guys what happened last night so we did this um family movie night we all agreed on a

[29:50]movie meaning my son picked the movie and we acquiesced so suddenly we i said can everyone

[29:56]just turn out the lights let's just really we really want to see the picture and i get on the

[30:01]bike without telling i just try to you know do it surreptitiously i get on the bike in the

[30:05]background and suddenly my wife is like wait where did she go and i start you just left movie night

[30:11]to go exercise and i'm in the but i'm watching that i'm watching the movie it's in the

[30:15]same room and so she's like wait i thought we were watching this as a family and i said

[30:20]i'll be there in 14 and a half minutes oh you're in the wrong yeah this is this is wrong so so my

[30:27]question is is that is that being part of family movie night if you're in the background extra i

[30:32]mean she's i did also run out and take a shower i will say that too but but i thought i was

[30:37]participating i was watching everything i didn't miss one line except for the shower part you

[30:41]behave like this and you're in a relationship and i'm out there doing the right thing and i'm just

[30:45]like this is bullshit russell is peloton halfway through his day sorry sorry 14 minutes i'll be

[30:50]right there don't worry about it sorry matt go ahead no i say did your wife and or your son have

[30:55]their phones out while they were watching movie no nobody okay well then yeah you yeah you might

[31:00]have been in the wrong then they got their phones out that's a good question that's a really good

[31:03]point if they did i would have been fair and square you would have been fair do you want to

[31:07]give your family a beck did it better apology now suzanne yes no no no yes yeah we'll give us we'll

[31:14]give we'll give your wife and son an apology here we go an apology from beck did it better

[31:18]i'd like to take this chance to apologize to absolutely nobody yeah fuck you that

[31:23]let's let's hear what the movie was and then maybe that'll change your mind suzanne what is

[31:32]what is the movie that your son i don't know it was um oh yeah you really fucked this up you didn't

[31:38]even know what the movie was it was um it was dr strange dr strange but it's the second time we've

[31:43]seen it so that's another reason that it was okay yes that i was in the background huffing and

[31:48]puffing just just a little bit get on the bike dr strange by the way it was aaron's nickname in

[31:52]college he's doing so much you know what i'm talking he had a phd baby yeah pretty hard dick

[31:58]from all that dr strange he doesn't even talk about russell rolling going how's it going with

[32:02]you rolling going i had a good day the other day i went to the van go art experience have you guys

[32:08]heard about the van go art you van went i van went and went go'd i went to the van go art experience

[32:13]i went and then go'd rob yeah experience yeah 500 000 cubic feet of projections animating van

[32:20]goes art you have like so you there's this kind of i went to this it's this industrial building

[32:25]in minneapolis and they have two different group areas where you can watch the show and essentially

[32:31]you walk in and there's probably 10 benches 10 sets of chairs and then a hundred spots just

[32:38]circled on the ground for you to sit down on and there's these walls that go up probably like

[32:43]75 feet in the air all around you a big big rectangle room and they're projecting this

[32:48]constant van go art exhibit where it's kind of digital it's moving it's constantly moving

[32:53]there's amazing music it was so cool what uh russell were you on a date for this was this a

[32:59]date um i actually just went there by myself why wouldn't i go by my no yeah it was on it was on

[33:04]it was not even my idea it was not my idea so i have to give the credit to someone else for the

[33:09]date idea russell let me ask like this do you think you made a good impressionist on

[33:13]your date oh well i did hold on let me let me let me get that's the espn you gotta put espn after

[33:21]that i hope you had said something babe it was a great night the other night you made a great

[33:24]impressionist on me your place or mine i hope i said something clever enough to catch your ear

[33:32]no but the when i walked in

[33:35]when i walked in i was kind of terrified at first and rob will probably agree with me i don't know

[33:42]wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute

[33:43]you went into a museum and you were terrified what does there possibly be terrified of

[33:48]because so you go into this exhibit and there's probably let's say 200 people in this huge

[33:53]rectangle room with you know 50 foot high walls all around you it's like probably 30 yards on a

[33:59]football field or something like that and you're in there but you walk in and the lights are dark

[34:04]and there's video all around you and there's a hundred spots on the floor to sit a handful of

[34:09]benches a handful of chairs and it's crowded so when i walk in i'm immediately thinking get

[34:13]god damn it i do not want to be sitting on this hard floor for the next 45 minutes i'm too old for

[34:18]that shit i'm too big for that shit what would you guys have thought if you had to go into the

[34:22]art exhibit had to sit on the floor for 40 minutes during the show i would have been so bummed that

[34:26]my date is sitting on the floor and i'm up on a bench next door like that would be so rough to

[34:32]like look i'll be like hey you enjoying this or you having a good time this is making a good

[34:37]impressionist on you you know what i'm talking about you want to go to the bathroom and

[34:43]french a little bit or what uh is he french too by the way yeah french no is he french no i don't

[34:50]think so he's dutch yeah i believe he's dutch hey you want to go dutch on this date you know

[34:54]suzanne what would you do if you had to sit on the floor for an art show i'd die i i like sitting on

[35:01]the floor that is a comfortable position for me but i understand that for some people it is not

[35:06]a comfortable position so i i have great empathy for you and that sounds like one of the most

[35:11]insulting things you could say to us is looking at us like

[35:13]look you scanned us up and down i could see on the screen you scanned all of us and said i can

[35:17]understand for some people that's not comfortable no no but but i think don't they have little

[35:21]benches there i mean what there's just a handful so when you walk in it's a pretty crowded room

[35:26]there's people coming and going so you can kind of wait a minute and see if something pops open

[35:30]but otherwise yeah it was full so every probably five or six minutes a new bench would open and

[35:36]people would rush and take it so what'd you do we walked in and lucky for me the

[35:43]suns were shining on russ there was a bench right in front of us and i beelined to that

[35:48]motherfucker and sat down so fast yes some some old lady is like going over on his on her walker

[35:57]like trying to get to it he's just like he's like sorry old bag this bench is mine on a date

[36:03]that man with the iheart blowjobs shirt took my bench

[36:09]hey van get the hell out of here you know what i'm talking about

[36:13]i bet no i bet i bet your date was impressed that you made that quick beeline for the bench

[36:19]because it is better to sit on a bench than the floor so she was i'm assuming it's a she

[36:24]chivalry hasn't died muscle chivalry yeah we got that bench there that bench was not going to i

[36:30]would have left that there's no way i would have said my stuff i would got to go to the bathroom

[36:34]i would have acted like i had a medical issue before i was going to sit on that floor for 45

[36:38]minutes wearing short shorts like why didn't you want to sit on the floor i don't know i'm just i'm

[36:43]an adult male i don't need to be sitting on the fucking floor i'm too big of a guy to be sitting

[36:47]on the floor on like a hardwood floor for an hour sitting on the floor i gotta go van go take a dump

[36:52]like you couldn't if you sat on the floor how frequently you would have to change positions

[36:59]like i could sit like cross like it for 30 seconds no the other the interesting thing

[37:03]about that was aaron the exhibit went really high it went you know 70 50 70 feet in the air so you

[37:08]had to look up the whole time too so if you're sitting on the floor you're looking straight up

[37:13]ergonomics uh and i i just want everybody to picture so russ is sitting on the floor for like

[37:19]you know 20 25 minutes he's just sitting there he's doing that thing we've all done on dates

[37:23]where you're like boy this sucks but he's sitting on the floor my 10th most attractive physical

[37:27]position yeah i mean where do your hands go you're going forward but i just want everybody to picture

[37:32]now russell gets up his legs asleep his legs have fallen asleep he has to get up so now russell has

[37:38]to do that thing where you roll over onto your stomach and then kind of push yourself up you

[37:43]know and then he's kind of like walking he's got that kind of janky legs when he's walking with the

[37:46]two sleepy legs oh my god that'd be so good i gotta grab the old lady's cane who i let have

[37:51]the bed because that was a nice guy hey let me give you my two vincents

[37:55]so uh for me rolling going rob how's it going with you oh good thank goodness somebody asked

[38:03]cares about how rob's doing i guess uh so i went over to suzanne's house the other day to deliver

[38:07]a microphone and that's why she sounds so good and it was her son's birthday party

[38:13]okay so i was over there and we are doing the birthday did you mc it huh did you mc it yeah i

[38:19]was like he tried yeah he's like mama where's my ball wash please sorry son there's no ball wash

[38:29]this year maybe next year um and we uh suzanne actually made a cake she made a carrot cake and

[38:37]i say that in an amazed voice just because this is new york city so like making things in the

[38:43]around here i'm always disappointed when i go to someone's birthday party and they've got a

[38:47]homemade cake and not a store-bought cake it's always such a disappointment like you know it's

[38:53]never quite as good there's never like all the frost it's just like oh yeah if i wanted a bunch

[38:57]of like berries and blueberries and strawberries i would have gone to fucking byerly's not to his

[39:01]birthday party give me a real piece of cake oh my god that is so fucking funny because it's true

[39:06]every time you go it's a homemade cake you're like oh god damn yeah everyone loves angel food

[39:13]some whipped cream for this one oh yeah oh so good that is true like no i want it'd be like if

[39:20]you went in there it's like it's like people making their own ketchup you know it's like i

[39:23]don't need this just give me that fake ass ketchup uh but i did go and so suzanne's that's uh suzanne

[39:29]did the happy birthday thing and i'm just gonna say this okay suzanne started the singing and

[39:35]it went she went like this she goes happy birthday to and it led to

[39:43]a five it was like the opening song to this podcast it was one of the slowest song birth

[39:47]happy birthdays i've ever heard in my entire life no but it's it's definitely a thing where

[39:52]somebody's just trying to get everybody started up right and they start happy everybody else just

[39:57]following along so it turns you have to be this is a public service announcement yeah if you're

[40:03]gonna do that no matter if you start with happy birthday by birthday they'll start so if you just

[40:09]go happy birthday you know everybody will start right in so you have to be happy birthday

[40:13]after that's like can we get more efficient with this move on let's get going i don't know what

[40:18]you're talking about because i i did i started slow but then it picked up it picked up as it

[40:23]went it did not pick up and i know why it started slowest because suzanne wanted to sing she wanted

[40:27]to hear everybody have everybody hear her sing so she's like happy birth and she picked a key that

[40:32]was way like weird too if you would have heard this song guys you would not be able to sing along

[40:36]it would be like uh uh patience by rolling stones or by guns and roses you cannot sing along with it

[40:43]hey super long happy birthday song sugar-free cake

[40:47]hey aaron i was gonna ask you you and your wife are both music background people would you guys

[40:59]sing happy birthday do you like try to harmonize or do you like try to sing together and like

[41:03]have these looks where you're like looking romantically at each other while you're singing

[41:07]or do you just sing like normal just wow that was that that question ran the gamut of emotions but

[41:13]mostly are you like cool are you a dumb shit yeah i would say mostly sing like normal schlubs

[41:21]i'm i'm sort of uh on matt's side in terms of the the tempo um not necessarily because i'm trying to

[41:28]be efficient but because i've been at some birthday dirges where the people just it just

[41:32]feels a little you know like they're singing a little too slow and you're like this is this fun

[41:37]or not so i'm with matt you got to keep the the tempo hot you got to make it happy uh but yeah

[41:42]russell you got to keep the the tempo hot you got to make it happy uh but yeah russell you got to

[41:43]but we we sing like normal schlubs we might still look at each other romantically but not no

[41:47]harmonizing rob next time you're at a birthday party yep sucks that's what that's aaron that's

[41:54]aaron has kids birthday party sucks what were you gonna say man say well what's the happy what's this

[42:00]what's the best song about being happy yeah what's the best happy birthday i mean no but next time

[42:05]you're at a birthday party for your kids whatever just see how fast you can get that thing going

[42:08]that's my trick that i do you just keep it going and if you're singing just a little bit

[42:13]louder happy birthday to you happy birthday to you just see how fast you can get it going

[42:19]they won't know what's hit them i mean how are they gonna know you have to cherish the moment

[42:23]video is you know who's gonna care pictures you know who's gonna care yeah how many people at this

[42:29]party you think we're cherishing the moment like cared about like they're there because they have

[42:33]to go like you guys ever think about it whether you have these parties and people come over do

[42:37]you think like well there's probably half the people that are happy to be there and the other

[42:40]half are like shit this is a waste of my afternoon

[42:43]well i felt bad too because everybody only ate half a piece of cake

[42:45]that is not no this cake's really good i only want that is not true

[42:51]they devoured that there was a scene where suzanne was asking the kids like do you want

[42:56]seconds and they were like no and i was like oh my god if they all say no this is the first thing

[42:59]i'm going to talk about on the podcast they all said yes fyi they all said yes the famous story

[43:06]by the way of course is that my my uh aunt made brownies once and we served it with just like

[43:12]ice cream or whatever and i was like oh my god i'm gonna eat it and i'm gonna eat it and i'm gonna

[43:13]and my dad got the brownie and he was eating he goes oh my god he goes this is so good he goes who

[43:19]made this ice cream oh this ice cream is so delicious i love this ice cream this is my

[43:25]favorite ice cream ever i had just over and over about the ice cream so great uh i am gonna think

[43:30]about that though russell next time i go to a birthday party there's a homemade cake and you're

[43:33]just like it sucks it's such a disappointment but everyone when they host a party they do it they

[43:38]think oh i'm making homemade cake this cake is so much better than stirrbot nobody thinks it's

[43:43]better than stirrbot

[43:43]i'm just saying oh god it's so right all right uh let's get into nobody's favorite part of the

[43:53]show let's talk about the album it's time for nobody's favorite part of the show let's talk

[43:59]about you said that it's a music slash carnivorous plant all right let's do it we finally found our

[44:07]groove it's most of us it's like wow we get a big bump in california oh it's freaky carnivorous plant

[44:13]guys listening now that's great so before we like liz fair before we start listen rolling stone did

[44:20]a revamp of the list uh approximately like two weeks into us doing this podcast they added more

[44:26]people of color on the list they added more women probably most notably joni mitchell at number two

[44:31]we are at album right now 56 what was the last uh woman fronted album that we've done

[44:39]try to remember what it was

[44:43]beyonce close beyonce was 32

[44:47]uh reetha carol king no no carol king was was even was in the team yes amy winehouse at 33 was the

[44:56]last one so we have now gone 20 too long 23 albums guys you see that math you see i still wasn't sure

[45:03]i was like uh and this is our this is our first woman in a while our next one we don't have

[45:09]another one until we have kate bush all the way up at 68 so

[45:13]i think they they tried to make the list a little more equal but it's just we can still see there's

[45:18]some major major gaps in this this album uh by liz fair exile to guyville this is actually named

[45:23]after an urge overkill song guyville what exile in guyville oh guess what here comes an edit point

[45:30]this album exile in guyville is named after an urge overkill song uh a band that she was really

[45:37]into and also uh called uh uh goodbye to guyville but it's also called the last one

[45:43]exiled guyville because this entire album is a clone or it's kind of a uh in the it's on the

[45:49]pastiche what's the best word for this aaron it's like uh it's a response is i mean it's it's she

[45:54]used it as a template but yeah it's she treated each song like a response all right here's another

[45:59]edit point i would say i've been thinking about it and it's kind of like a response to exile on

[46:03]main street by the rolling stones it's got the same structure she actually said like this is

[46:08]the song on exile on main street so i'm going to make a song that responds to that or or shows it

[46:12]from a woman's view so i'm going to make a song that responds to that or or shows it from a woman's

[46:12]view in 1993 uh it's it was when somebody asked her what is guyville like what's the definition

[46:20]of guyville i want i'm going to read what she said i want to see if you think this is anybody

[46:23]you know all the guys here have short cropped hair john lennon sunglasses flannel shirts

[46:29]unpretentiously worn not a grunge statement work boots in 1993 aaron are you from guyville

[46:35]that's it i can't i did try the john lennon sunglasses i'm not sure what was that about

[46:41]the work boots

[46:42]when she came out with this album it was on a smaller label it actually went pretty big right

[46:47]away it only sold about 200 000 copies but she actually had to get sued by a record company

[46:52]because she did not want to go on tour she was terrified of the stage however at the end of the

[46:56]year 1993 this was voted the number one album uh in spin and the village voice uh awards pitchfork

[47:03]still says it's the 30th greatest album of the 90s and i think what a lot of people love about

[47:08]this album is that compared to a lot that we've listened to especially lately with david bowie

[47:11]and stuff like that this is incredibly low quality and i think it's going to be a great album

[47:12]but at the same time it's super emotionally honest and i think you're going to hear

[47:16]the beginning of a lot of indie rock as it's going to become bigger and bigger in the united

[47:21]states uh kind of starting with this album or through this album let's get into the album and

[47:29]first up we have suzanne are you a big fan of this are you a big fan of this album or you're

[47:33]like matt where you don't listen to the albums no i know no i do i love liz fair and this is a

[47:42]about liz fair um i this album has a lot of meaning to me because when i came out of the

[47:50]closet as a lesbian it was around this time um so for me this this is a real badass rocker album

[47:58]and it's like a woman saying i'm not going to fit into your stereotypes i'm not going to fit

[48:04]into societal's expectations of what a girl should be what a good girl should be she's really defying

[48:10]what society is asking and that's exactly what i'm saying i'm not going to fit into your stereotypes

[48:12]exactly what i was doing when i said hey i'm not what you all expect of me this is what i am

[48:17]so it was really affirming and powerful to me and to a lot of different people who don't fit

[48:24]in what society expects them to be where would it go erin uh suzanne if i want to meet horny

[48:29]women in college where's the number one place to meet horny women no no that's not what this

[48:34]is about liz fair is not trying to help you find horny women okay well i'm going to the

[48:42]six one

[48:44]killer start to an album very 90s start to an album don't you think i've never listened to

[48:54]this album this is this is the first one we've done where i didn't know a single song off of it

[48:58]i love her voice i love the kind of the spare like i said lo-fi sound i think it's

[49:03]it's interesting i had to listen to it a couple times to do the karaoke song because i was like

[49:08]how is she singing this so low

[49:10]you

[49:12]guys could you hear there there was like a tambourine do you guys hear that tambourine

[49:18]at all during that opening song yeah i heard it yeah i heard the tambourine and i immediately

[49:23]thought there's got to be other people that have tambourine songs but only one really jumps out

[49:27]this is beck from the album guero this is black tambourine check out beck playing the tambourine

[49:33]oh this is a family jam elizabeth yes and to be fair on the list for

[49:42]fair album this fair is not playing the tambourine it's her musician brad wood

[49:47]so when it actually comes to playing a tambourine on a badass song who does it better did it better

[49:52]that's some cold shit one song into this female album where we brought out a female listener to

[50:01]help straighten us out and i immediately claim that i think suzanne logged off the zoom after

[50:05]that i don't know it's like uh back how can we connect back to liz fair i know there's this

[50:11]tambourine he's committed to it i think suzanne logged off the zoom after that i don't know

[50:12]a bit man it's hard sir it's so good uh next up we have what russ is trying to do help me marry

[50:19]are we gonna get to that song again it won't help you get the worst

[50:26]i don't know if it's on purpose or if she's just doing this

[50:42]you gotta pick one way to do eggs what are you doing oh scrambled but like diner style with like

[50:48]big curds but yeah that's if i had to do one way curds with a c curds yeah curds curds just checking

[50:58]uh man what's your favorite kind of egg what's your eggy style i like sunny side up i like

[51:03]oh good choice like a little runny crispy edges or no yeah yeah crispy edges oh yeah there we go

[51:09]yeah russ what do you think what's your egg style i like sunny side up i like a little runny

[51:12]all kinds of eggs except for deviled eggs i think deviled eggs are disgusting i'd rather have i'd

[51:17]rather go to a party with with sugar-free birthday cake or whatever suzanne's making

[51:22]that is so crazy deviled eggs are so good they're so good i'm convinced i could eat 50 deviled eggs

[51:27]i know i could and then usually they're sitting out on like a table and they've been out there

[51:31]for like three hours and then you're like oh man like room temperature deviled eggs oh god so good

[51:37]the fact that you guys don't like deviled eggs is so crazy to me by the way matt i've been making

[51:42]potatoes at home my kids hate it uh suzanne yeah i actually said that you made it they got mad at

[51:50]you so that was kind of nice suzanne what's your favorite style of eggs what do you think i like

[51:54]them low and slow scrambled and that's for you aaron you know about low and slow right i that's

[52:00]exactly yeah it's the it gets to a similar result but yeah that's exactly the opposite of the way

[52:04]my wife cooks eggs by the way jenny when she cooks eggs the only i don't know if she knows

[52:10]that our oven or our stovetop has like adjustable flame or something like that but i don't know if

[52:12]james she puts everything full bore she's like whoa and then she puts eggs in and then like goes

[52:18]and does other stuff like around the house and these eggs are just sitting there it's like it's

[52:23]like lobster it's like she's cooking a lobster or something they're just cooking and i go over

[52:26]and like i'm like i gotta save this like i stir it i'm like right now she only cooks things at

[52:31]super high temperatures everything like we made soup last night the whole bottom of the pot just

[52:35]burned ass broccoli cheese soup she was steaming dumplings she's like oh yeah i ran out of water

[52:40]whole bottom of that pot is all black

[52:42]and now i'm like what out of water you can do low settings it's on the it's on the stovetop it's like

[52:48]anything she she always she doesn't want to waste time everything is full my favorite kind of eggs

[52:52]are fertilized you guys know what i'm talking about high five high five high five russ got it

[52:57]he's laughing he likes it well i mean i think you know maybe that would have been she was only 26

[53:03]right but you know like a woman talking about eggs like maybe she's thinking about things

[53:07]you think every time a woman's talking about eggs she's thinking about things

[53:12]yeah i mean like all kinds of things like coming of age who am i what's this world all that those

[53:19]like big ideas just to show you how smart this podcast is i heard that i was like i wonder what

[53:23]everybody's favorite kind of eggs are hey hey i would i would want to exile from guyville too if

[53:28]all the people in guyville were like aaron with the sunglasses on after that i would exile from

[53:33]their team yeah my favorite kind of eggs is exile from guyville and i'm gonna edit that so it sounds

[53:40]good and not choppy uh by the way

[53:42]you're welcome

[53:42]eggs benedict by the way winner you guys are all wrong uh uh just like the comedy movie glory glory

[53:49]this i've i also had never listened to this album in full before

[53:59]uh this this venture so i was super stoked to hear um stuff that i recognize having listened

[54:06]to other bands like particularly um people like waxahachie or best coast like i realized oh those

[54:12]folks listened to liz fair a lot and taught me that this was kind of where that came from and

[54:17]even though you know she's pulling from previous influences too

[54:20]aaron if you had to pick somebody that was influenced by liz fair what would you go with

[54:26]number give me one group uh well my first thought was best coast um but that's that's a band that

[54:33]i've listened to recently i don't know how big they are really um and then what how about someone

[54:38]who has more than a thousand views i've got so many best coast i've got my best coast shirt on

[54:42]man what's your favorite band that you've listened to recently i don't know how big they are really

[54:42]what do you think of best coast love them oh suzanne what do you think of best coast love them

[54:47]yeah what's your favorite song great yeah yeah i love the thing about that i love yeah part two as

[54:53]well it's very good aaron what the fuck are you talking about best ghost are you fucking serious

[54:58]that i know is waxahachie this this particular song we were just like listening to reminds me

[55:03]of waxahachie do you see how much editing i have to do here suzanne do you see how much editing

[55:07]yeah it's a lot of work it's a lot of work this is this is wild it's a piece of work

[55:12]and a lot of work go ahead aaron finish your sentence i'm sorry to interrupt i finished that's

[55:16]it it's just it was fun for me to hear this piece of shit what are you talking about aaron i i

[55:21]appreciate you uh your input aaron and i appreciate you uh you know trying to just drop some knowledge

[55:27]on don't don't try to do this don't team up with aaron don't do that that better not even see the

[55:33]second no you're not gonna hear that don't worry i in that song she's talking about one of the

[55:42]are we still frenching what's the deal is we still done with frenching our wives

[55:45]yeah the frenching has cut really like a full wait is this only for married guys or no i'm

[55:53]talking to you too no trust me i don't want you guys to talk when you're talking about it because

[55:56]i want to i want to really i want to really hear about it but uh you guys are really frenching a

[56:02]ton i feel like my frenching has gone down lately like i don't know like because after like three i

[56:06]gotta feel like i gotta go brush my teeth before we're gonna do this like what do we have for lunch

[56:10]i don't know

[56:12]like real hard frenching you're doing that what how often are you frenching aaron we're talking

[56:15]like i mean once a day once a week i hope i guess would be well once a week i'm frenching once a

[56:24]week aaron jesus christ that's crazy man what about you how many times a week you frenching

[56:30]i was gonna go to rosie once a week i don't know sarah drinks about once a week so you know

[56:35]suzanne how often are you frenching your wife are we talking once a week

[56:39]yeah

[56:41]no more

[56:42]than once a week really part do you participate in those family activities and you go like she's

[56:46]ready to french and you're like over there i'm like wait does this count if i'm on the back of

[56:52]the bike yeah can i exercise while we're doing the weird thing is i'm on the video call i'm like

[56:57]hey what's going on over there for some reason your shirt is off again every time sure wasn't

[57:04]off before they started frenching uh dance of the seven veils

[57:08]looks like some hobbit shit going on

[57:12]well i'm gonna say something dumb again but i thought no i want to hear she says i wonder

[57:23]she's talking about john the baptist yeah she's referring to to john the baptist okay so i got

[57:31]that one right oh with the head on the platter yeah already dead see museums and shit this song

[57:36]this song is about i think just like because this whole um this whole album is a critique of the guys

[57:43]in the music business at the time i think this song is really about those jerks in the music

[57:47]business and um that she's she's getting all dark with this and she's talking about like one of i

[57:55]was listening to the stones album that that this reflects but then i got mad and i'm like i'm not

[57:59]gonna listen to every single song and try to figure out but there is a song where they use the

[58:03]the c word i'm not gonna say it right now but

[58:06]she uses that same word and i think this might be the reflective song i'm not sure

[58:10]she talks about rent rent me by the hour and she's referring to the fact that women are seen

[58:17]as prostitutes again she takes these stereotypes of women and turns them on their head so she and

[58:23]do you guys know about the whole madonna whore complex do have you heard of this no no what is

[58:29]that so starting from sigmund freud it's it's sort of a theory about how women are seen so we're

[58:35]either seen as the best or we're seen as the worst and we're seen as the worst and we're seen as the

[58:36]innocent pure madonna's virgin mary's that are just um that you could never have sex with or

[58:42]prostitutes sluts whores so we're either this or that and that men see us as one or the other

[58:48]so she takes this and turns it on its head and says i were many things women are just this whole

[58:54]album is really saying that women are just as sexual as men we're not good bad this or that

[59:00]we are the same we are equal and we can take these things and and have fun with them wow you

[59:06]really understood that when i explained that to you the other day i mean that was so good what you

[59:09]just said i'm so impressed ask this question now are we sure that it's not you said virgin mary's

[59:15]is it not virgins mary like lilith fair or whoppers junior oh yes you you know

[59:23]yeah you yeah you you may be right with that uh never said never said

[59:36]this another this made me think like 90s atlantis forest type music i was into this song

[59:42]this is the first single radio friendly of all the tracks in the album

[59:46]you don't think uh uh uh fucking run was very radio friendly i think it actually is i mean if

[59:53]they just yeah actually you know a lot of people that's getting edited out when you say that i'm

[59:58]wrong i i love that i thought it was a jam other folks maybe knew this but um i learned while

[60:04]reading about this album that

[60:06]she and i heard an interview with her later where she talked about i mean she said herself

[60:10]i didn't know how to make a record so i'm an academic i understand that when you're an academic

[60:16]you take a blueprint of something and you follow that blueprint so she said i decided i'd follow

[60:21]the blueprint of exile on main street and then um yeah that there's it's one it sort of lines up or

[60:28]if you can imagine it as a one-to-one response to each track on exile soap star joe he's just a hero

[60:36]in a long line of heroes looking for some lonely billboard to grace in an interview with her that

[60:44]she wrote most of her songs well she wrote these she recorded them on four track but she wrote her

[60:48]songs on an electric guitar with either no amplification or a very small amplifier and

[60:54]that made a real difference in how she recorded because she didn't actually hear the chords she

[60:58]was playing until she heard them played back after they were amplified and it makes sense

[61:03]like to me it informs it informs how you hear the guitars on this album

[61:06]that that song was about her uh she was saying that when she was in her 20s she was dating older

[61:11]guys and they'd always pick her up in a car and take her to dinner and it was she said it just

[61:14]felt so weird because it was like this generic thing happening over and over and over and that

[61:18]got me thinking russ when you are going on on all these dates right you're going on on tons of dates

[61:23]scores a month what uh are you using the same conversation starters like do you have just some

[61:31]base or are you going are you feeling like more of an improv thing where you're like you're

[61:36]or do you have like here's my best bits to start with like oh how'd you get that i got the scar from

[61:41]saving all those kids in a bus accident you know stuff like that yeah yeah yeah so we're the fake

[61:47]military outfits in the first day all the time right no that's so good that's so good i i don't

[61:56]know i try to go improv your name says major dong

[61:59]you know what i my my go-to move rob is i usually think of one thing that happened in my day

[62:06]and then i ask a weird question about it so like immediately you make something fun but you just

[62:11]ask like a strange question like i like one i remember having that it led to a good first date

[62:15]was it was around the holidays and i heard that peanut song the the charlie brown song and so i

[62:20]got to the date and i was like i don't know what your favorite christmas song is but do you think

[62:25]this peanuts the charlie brown song is a christmas song and so then it kicked off in like a cop so i

[62:30]usually have a starter and then i try to improv but if the conversation is going bad i do i do it

[62:36]give me your big time save like when you really got to call in when you're calling calling in you

[62:41]know the el duque and you really got to save this this date what do you say what's your line

[62:46]um one of them would be if i can tell if they're a fan of the show the office i would ask

[62:52]who are three people from the tv show the office that you would invite on a on a on a road trip so

[62:58]i want to hear who their favorite characters in the office are i like that nice good suzanne what

[63:04]about you what is it what's a good conversation like you're

[63:06]out so you're out this happened to me the other day i was out with my daughter we had nothing to

[63:09]talk about i literally had to go to my phone and look up conversation starters for my own kid

[63:13]right and then we started talking about like what's your favorite show on tv and it worked

[63:16]out what's what's a if you're on a date if you're married or if you're new what's a good thing to

[63:20]just say to get a date conversation going well people love to talk about themselves i mean you

[63:25]you should know yeah yes i mean that was the funniest joke we've heard all night i don't know

[63:33]about that just yeah

[63:36]people love to talk about themselves yeah oh so you would just talk about yourself

[63:43]oh i thought you would ask them about themselves i thought that's what you're saying you ask them

[63:47]ask them about themselves and get them going and and people are really interesting once you

[63:51]once you just keep asking questions and russ you're really good at that you do that on this show

[63:56]um you're always asking people good questions and keep doing that that's that's how people

[64:01]feel comfortable and what do i think about dave

[64:06]well the thing is about this okay so let's move on explain it to me

[64:10]she said this is one of the few that just came out fully formed out of her brain

[64:15]i kind of like this song it felt like it should be the beginning of like an nbc family drama like

[64:20]some sort of tv show on nbc this would be a great opening for that something where it's like a mom

[64:25]and a daughter like yes it's like a family nbc drama and they're each going through some shit

[64:30]you know but you know what they're family yeah i love that on this one how her voice gets super

[64:35]low

[64:35]and then she just bursts up into the high voice such a great contrast she does that a lot

[64:41]canary only piano song on the whole cd all right did you guys like the piano song

[64:49]i didn't like i liked her a little more where i could feel the beat driving a little more than

[64:57]with this one and it's just the recording again on this one this sounds like exile main street to

[65:02]me where she's kind of she feels like i feel like they put the microphone kind of under the piano

[65:05]recorder voice this was the song that caught me off guard because it's kind of this

[65:09]very calming piano and then when you listen to the lyrics it's kind of filthy right

[65:13]this is a really filthy song when you listen to it but it doesn't fit when you're listening

[65:17]to music read me some of those filthy lyrics and and read it real slow i'm not doing it she does

[65:23]that quite a bit in this second half of the album and she said that this one is not supposed to be

[65:29]sexual this one is actually about like a stressful family relationship and about her brother and her

[65:35]and how she had i don't know some stuff was going on in her family and she could escape to her music

[65:41]and she would just kind of shut it out and that was her being deaf um i don't know but

[65:47]maybe i listed the wrong one it sounds extremely sexual that's what i thought too and then i read

[65:53]about it and i was like no actually this is about um some bad stuff in my family so i totally get

[65:59]that though escaping with music because today when i was doing that parody song my kids were like i'm

[66:02]so hungry it's 2 30 we've had lunch and i was like excuse me

[66:05]i need to get these harmonies correct like they talk when i'm trying to record i'm like

[66:11]all right my kids are gonna that was mesmerizing story rob wow that's the name of the next song

[66:21]it's like it's like birds flying around in the air it's mesmerizing

[66:27]matt what do you think of the album so far you know it's hard because i you know listening to

[66:35]suzanne specifically because she's been rosy and you guys are the only ones again i think smart to

[66:40]say about this album around here i don't get what you're saying but okay um i i i'm trying to figure

[66:48]out like i don't think i think i listen to music and i don't hear lyrics like i just i don't listen

[66:54]to lyrics the first few times around and i maybe catch like one or two catchy things in the refrain

[66:59]or something like that and so you know when i've this is the second time i've listened to this album

[67:04]right and so while i like

[67:05]the kind of early 90s grungy uh you know single guitar kind of playing style of music like that

[67:13]really speaks like you know i it i haven't listened to any of the lyrics i haven't paid

[67:18]attention to the lyrics and shame on me for doing that but you know so they just don't grab me i

[67:23]guess and so it's it's just not that memorable of an album to me and it's not um i don't know if it

[67:30]has to be or anything like that but i i don't know i i think when you find so much meaning in lyrics

[67:35]you know it just goes right over my head unless somebody tells me to pay attention to it and i

[67:39]don't know i'll tell you what i what i do fuck with on this album though is it's 18 songs right

[67:44]and which i thought a double album 18 songs is gonna be long these songs are like two minutes

[67:48]long you know what i mean if you don't if you if you're not into one you just hang around and the

[67:52]next song is coming right up like i i had this on all day in the apartment i loved it it was like

[67:55]it was it was fun to listen to but yeah i don't know like i realize now my kids are listening to

[67:59]like a bunch of sex talk from her which absolutely outrageous i can't believe they would be

[68:05]exposed to that okay definitely not me blasting my podcast all the time to try to get more downloads

[68:10]um or your skeleton big dick t-shirt all the time listen it was conferences school conferences

[68:19]laundry day what am i supposed to do fuck and run probably one of liz ferris best known songs

[68:24]this is a crusher this is a killer great song yeah and this is the the response if you look at the

[68:35]track comparison is the response to happy by the rolling stones where keith uh yeah keith richards

[68:42]is singing about and deliver to keep me happy and then she says fucking run and i uh in my side text

[68:48]my other text uh friend of mine put the picture of you know happy next to fucking run and he said

[68:53]lol murdered just like rolling stones couldn't compete with this with this track and and also

[68:58]what she was saying to cut them down what the fuck your side text is about the podcast

[69:05]about this particular we're having a fucking we're having a conversation about this after the

[69:12]podcast that's okay we'll talk about it later okay not a big deal one of the things that one

[69:19]of the things that jumped out to me is when i heard this i heard one night stand this is about

[69:23]a one night stand so i thought we could do a list of the greatest songs ever about one night stands

[69:29]oh all right three two one for another other better

[69:35]you know what you know what would be about my one night stands for us what song

[69:40]cry cry cry by johnny cash

[69:42]all right so the first thing any one night stand there's always got to be someone who

[69:51]tries to make the one night stand happen here it's bob seeker we've got tonight as the song

[69:56]you know this one

[70:00]who needs to

[70:05]who needs to

[70:05]keep going roscoe great one night stand sounds like a neil diamond song

[70:10]originally written by neil diamond that's such a great line though for a one night stand isn't it

[70:15]like who cares about tomorrow i would say if i was gonna write a song about one night stand

[70:19]it would be titled yeah actually if i don't it's gonna hurt me really bad so we should just do it

[70:24]so i don't get hurt all right next song on the list we got to go back many years

[70:30]this is frankie valley four seasons december 19th yeah no jersey boys talking about one night stand

[70:35]one night stands i love it check this out you guys will know this song listen what they're saying

[70:39]about

[70:40]he didn't even know her name

[70:46]didn't even know her name that's a great sign of a great one night stand right when you don't even

[70:53]know the person

[70:53]matter aaron what's the key to a good one night stand

[71:00]now that's not knowing your name so they don't call you tomorrow i don't know

[71:05]i keep see they know my name because that's what i say while i'm having sex

[71:10]rob the one really cool thing i i've read about that song is the four seasons i believe is the

[71:20]only band to have a number one hit before the beatles during the beatles and after a beatles

[71:27]isn't that crazy crazy they were together that long that's what that said next up on the list

[71:33]sometimes when you don't know your one night stand you don't know your one night stand

[71:35]you also end up eloping to vegas this is carrie underwood

[71:39]i gotta say i'm listening to this because i do enjoy carrie underwood so much

[71:59]is this a jam

[72:00]oh yeah we're getting down now

[72:05]all right yeah it's a good song next up on the list though are you guys ever a fan of the band

[72:11]heart love heart oh this song oh this one

[72:14]aaron might love this or he might hate this you know what this is aaron or not yeah

[72:19]this is all i want to do is make love to you by heart check this out this is a great song

[72:24]clean russell so i can make that my ringtone can you say that again the title of the song

[72:27]all i want to do is make love to you

[72:35]yeah and then later she sees the kid and she knows that it looks like her

[72:40]my favorite was the description of this song is this is about a woman who goes out to seduce a

[72:58]hitchhiker for a one-night stand so that she can get pregnant because her husband is infertile

[73:03]that is 80s

[73:05]rock right there all true that's crazy

[73:07]banger so how would you how would you like to come home to a hitchhiker banging your wife i mean

[73:13]like how would you even get that set up like if that was your kink because you've been watching

[73:16]weird stuff online a lot lately and like like how would you even do that if you don't maybe don't

[73:20]own a car maybe you live like in a city you don't have a car like you just go up to a hitchhiker and

[73:24]ask him like hey the picture of your wife and say hey do you want to i don't know like maybe we

[73:29]could talk about it later if you guys want to my favorite thing about that song was though that

[73:34]the end of it is

[73:35]she leaves him a note telling him don't contact her like that's the end of the one-night stand is

[73:40]her leaving at that one how cruel is that like have you guys ever left a one-night stand note

[73:44]at the end of the night where it's like do not contact me uh no i've been the recipient though

[73:48]of uh spending a day making out with a girl in a car and then the next day at school like me saying

[73:54]hi to her and her like kind of give me a look like who are you and i'm like oh oh okay this is cool

[73:59]too like that i'm not gonna think about this for a couple weeks probably it's probably gonna mess

[74:03]me up and maybe talk about it when i'm like four weeks later and then i'm like oh my god

[74:05]what do you want on a podcast it's not a big deal to me all right last song on the list is faces

[74:12]um stay with me this is a fucking slam rod stewart

[74:17]right that's that's the key to a one-night stand no no saying any feelings and get the

[74:35]right you're closer to the subject than we that sounds rude that just i that sounds and i was

[74:43]thinking about this because i think you know we were talking the other day my wife and i have been

[74:47]married now for like half our life like we've been together i'm starting to think a two-bedroom

[74:52]solution might not be the worst idea when i was younger like sleeping apart i was always like oh

[74:56]that is like a bad but now i'm kind of like you gotta fucking rock like put a tv in there like

[75:02]maybe a video game thing in my bedroom like

[75:05]that would be kind of awesome anybody have anything to say about that that's not a weird

[75:10]rob that sounds horrible i would i would never agree to something like that i i love coming

[75:17]into the bedroom and getting yelled at by my wife at 2 a.m after recording a podcast it's so fun

[75:21]why do your balls smell so good eric russell that was a great list

[75:28]saved it this is where we rake the album

[75:31]is there a real that's easily up to

[75:35]nailed it russell or any one night stand songs didn't quite make the cut there

[75:40]the only one that came really close was there's another song called stay with me by sean smith

[75:46]and it's a more recent song you guys may know it but i didn't want to have it on there because

[75:50]this guy he wanted to like share the moment with his one night stand partner he wanted them to stay

[75:55]with him and i was like fuck that nobody wants that in a one night stand that is not that's

[75:59]definitely russell and i's experiences you know it was like one night and russell and i we just

[76:04]talked over zoom for the rest of the night and i was like fuck that and i was like fuck that and i

[76:05]the time it's like it was you don't make this a thing thing you guys don't talk about do you want

[76:09]me to send these socks no you can wear those around uh next up oh sweet motley crew this

[76:15]would be my song again i'm a stripper yes okay i'm a stripper at my trick club where i trick guys

[76:21]into come watching me strip i tell the dj what's it called the dj i want what is it called i think

[76:27]it is just rob's trick club but they come in like trick surprise sir thighs sir thighs

[76:34]yeah sir thighs and they come in and i'm sitting there and i go sir thighs

[76:38]and it's like surprise but it's also my thighs oh because right and i'm like okay dj play girls

[76:46]girls girls as my you know as my exotic dancer song and i come out and then this plays

[76:51]because yeah actually i mean i think it's great huh is this doing it for you guys

[76:59]this motion is this what you do what do you think of this song suzanne

[77:04]i love this song where does it rank on your all-time list fair on this album is it the top

[77:10]half yeah i mean again she's taking advantage of every band she meets the other song fucking run

[77:17]she was finding herself in a bed again you know this just keeps happening to her this is her

[77:22]turning it around i love it all right so next up we have divorce song

[77:28]even that was too real for you to joke about on that one

[77:35]this is my wife's ringtone when i call her i don't know

[77:38]i read this you listen to the lyrics about this i know matt you don't really get the lyrics i love

[77:44]reading the lyrics this is about like the first she takes a road trip with this guy and it doesn't

[77:49]really go the right way so i had to know like do you guys remember the first road trip you took

[77:53]with your spouse and what was that experience like uh we drove once it wasn't the first one but we

[77:58]drove once from vermont to minnesota it's 24 hours we're gonna do it and we had a uh eight month old

[78:04]and i have like a three-year-old so we're not thinking we're like hey we'll drive it'll be a

[78:09]fun family trip we get in uh for some reason i had stuff i think the cats were in the front seat so

[78:14]she had to pull an errand and sit in the back seat between the two baby car seats right she then spills

[78:19]stuff on her uh and after a half hour of driving she says oh i really hate road trips and we had

[78:27]her butt would hurt she'd get buttitis and she'd have to get up and move around and then in the

[78:31]morning we'd get up and out of the hotel at 10 a.m and then we'd find a coffee and so we'd actually

[78:35]like leave cleveland at like 11 it was one of the worst road she bought plane tickets for the way

[78:40]back on the way out on the road trip that's how bad it was it was an absolute disaster wait a

[78:44]question is is buttitis the same thing as dead butt syndrome uh yeah it's when you um you do it

[78:51]so deep make that ass fall asleep that's kind of it's a similar thing it's in the same family i'm

[78:56]sorry yeah no problem that's what i told the medic at the art show when i couldn't get up and i was

[79:03]like i was putting that ass to sleep over here on the floor and i don't want to talk about a road

[79:12]trip with my significant other but i do want to talk about a brief road trip with another person

[79:17]whom i love and that is our main host rob i listened to an interview with liz fair where she talks about

[79:25]she wrote this song uh inspired after sort of taking a drive with a friend or a friend with

[79:30]benefits of hers who drove a miata this was the only miata on the campus of oberlin college and i

[79:37]have had the privilege of sharing a miata was also a 340 pound person or whatever

[79:41]with rob our main host and rob and i in that trip to lake pepin discussed the the intimacy

[79:52]of sharing a small car with someone which liz fair later brought up in the interview with me and i

[79:55]did have a miata for some reason in college my i don't know how it happened i'm sure my dad was

[80:07]like here go pick a car to buy like that's kind of my life and of course i picked in minnesota a

[80:12]rear-wheel drive convertible that was useful about three months of the year but it is true that when

[80:16]you were in that car you were so low that you go by semi-trucks you just see like the wheels that's

[80:21]all you'd see and you were what you don't realize though is that cars are not all the same width

[80:25]so like you're so close to somebody and you know i was driving that car and i was wondering why the

[80:30]car wasn't going into sixth gear you know what i mean i'm shifting it i'm shifting i'm shifting

[80:34]why isn't it going into sixth gear and i look over at aaron so i don't know like it's

[80:39]aaron just texted me something wait 69th gear okay aaron doesn't even make sense

[80:49]man or suzanne do you remember the first the first road trip you ever took with your spouse matt i

[80:53]remember you told me that's one thing you need to do with someone that you're dating before you

[80:57]get serious i don't remember the first trip but that it was told to me uh very early on and

[81:04]our relationship like you know hey well this is the one you gotta do a road trip first because

[81:09]then you see you see them for everything they've got you know they're getting up in the morning

[81:14]you know how they treat people a little bit of stress of trying to figure everything out so

[81:18]yeah i don't know but i don't remember the first trip now matt would you recommend taking your

[81:22]family in an rv and go to a restaurant and go to a restaurant and go to a restaurant and go to a

[81:23]restaurant including your father-in-law going across the united states is that a fun road trip

[81:26]to do that is extremely fun especially if you go on some like hairpin turns and mountains and it's

[81:32]snowing yeah you've got like a 31 foot rv you know then you know everybody's just wondering

[81:37]like how's everything going it's just great guys just great this is really fun suzanne would have

[81:41]rented an uber and rode behind the family in the rv i've got to work i've got to work i'm gonna

[81:47]ride she's on the peloton on the rv bike up the mountain she's like oh i'm really cruising up this

[81:52]mountain of course you could be riding around the mountain but you're not going to be riding around

[81:53]the rv he's like in the back on the couch his wife's driving up these hairpin turns

[81:57]i'm telling you i had a really nice uh romantic drive with my wife when we were just first

[82:03]getting together actually was one of the first things we did i don't know what how we decided

[82:07]to do this but we flew across the country we rented a tiny little car some crappy little

[82:13]thing i can't remember what it was it was a convertible and it was really um we just drove

[82:18]down the coast all the way from northern california to san diego and the trip the romantic trip ended

[82:23]with me meeting her parents and it actually went really really well and there was a hot tub and it

[82:29]was great that's a whole other that's another story that i'm not going into now but it was

[82:33]amazing that was a little early to meet the parents though wasn't it was it a surprise to you

[82:38]super early but you know one of the reasons i knew that i loved her and she was the one was that

[82:43]i just fell in love with her family they were so funny and i loved the way they talked to her and

[82:47]she talked to them and seeing a person with their loved ones you can really know who they are so it

[82:53]was great

[82:53]it was it was easy to con them wasn't it it was easy to con them and make them think you were a

[82:58]good person plus there's something about having sex in their childhood bedrooms oh my god chicks

[83:04]get so horny in their childhood bedrooms i don't know what it is it is crazy

[83:08]shatter this is just a guitar instrumental oh never mind

[83:14]i love the chord progression here in this song i think it's really cool

[83:23]All right, next up, Flower.

[83:28]She said she wrote this song about a boy with beautiful lips.

[83:31]Guys, check these out.

[83:32]Pretty nice.

[83:37]Pretty beautiful.

[83:38]This is the one where I had to Google, like, where did she go to college?

[83:42]Because this is very clearly music dork stuff.

[83:44]Yes, I love the music here.

[83:45]Yeah.

[83:46]What do you mean by music dork stuff?

[83:49]To me, it sounded like things we learned in first or second semester of music theory,

[83:54]where there's a, you know, I mean, it's like early music stuff.

[83:58]Yeah.

[84:00]What do you call that when there's two melodies at the same time?

[84:03]Counterpoint.

[84:03]Yes.

[84:04]Counterpoint.

[84:06]Counterpoint.

[84:07]Is there a delay?

[84:07]Counterpoint.

[84:08]Yeah.

[84:08]Counterpoint.

[84:09]I knew that.

[84:10]It just sounded like someone who's taking some music classes.

[84:12]And then she's talking about, you know, doing it to you like a dog and all that.

[84:16]Oh, yeah.

[84:18]Actually, I wrote down some lyrics.

[84:19]About what she said with this guy with the cute lips.

[84:21]So, Russell, you saw my lips there.

[84:22]Would you write this?

[84:24]Every time I see your face, I get so wet between my legs.

[84:26]I don't understand that.

[84:27]Every time I see your face, I think of things on pure unchaste.

[84:31]I want to fuck you like a dog.

[84:32]I'll take you home and make you like it.

[84:34]Can you repeat that so I can copy it into my Bumble profile?

[84:39]Oh, I'm serious.

[84:41]Hey, Suzanne, I have an important music question here.

[84:44]Do you have enough friends where we're going to get a download box because you're on this episode?

[84:49]No.

[84:49]I am so popular.

[84:50]It's not even funny.

[84:51]Yeah.

[84:51]Yes.

[84:52]I'm not.

[84:52]I don't have that many friends.

[84:53]And are you going to tell your friends to listen to this after we talk about how much we French our wives?

[84:58]I'm not sure who I'm going to tell about this.

[85:01]It's like, hey, Dad, listen to this episode.

[85:03]We talk a lot about Frenching my wife and then banging in the childhood bedroom.

[85:07]You were much more eager about being on this an hour and a half ago, weren't you?

[85:10]Yeah.

[85:11]It's taking a dark turn.

[85:13]Yeah.

[85:13]Well, let's brighten it up.

[85:17]Johnny Sunshine.

[85:17]Oh.

[85:19]Oh, it's signaling.

[85:20]I don't know.

[85:30]There's something about her doubled up vocals that I just love.

[85:32]I just.

[85:33]So good.

[85:35]Then we have gun shy.

[85:38]This is kind of what Suzanne was talking about where she's talking about the, you know, stereotypical female roles in society, how she didn't want to get married.

[85:47]Which she proved to be true after this album.

[85:49]When this album came out, she did get married and that lasted about five years and said, yeah, fuck that.

[85:52]I had to throw dinner parties.

[85:53]I don't think so.

[85:54]She bought store-bought cake.

[85:58]Fuck it.

[85:58]She's out.

[85:59]No, she's in, Russell.

[86:00]You're getting confused.

[86:02]She's in.

[86:02]Stratford on guy.

[86:03]Yeah, this, I just sound to me starts to get more into like the grunge sound, which I guess it was 93.

[86:15]So it feels like she's kind of exploring that.

[86:18]Sound space.

[86:19]This song is really, really poetic, too, about just being on an airplane and looking down.

[86:26]And it's really cool.

[86:27]I like this one.

[86:28]At feet?

[86:29]No, the world.

[86:31]No.

[86:32]Feet?

[86:33]That is pretty sweet, though, isn't it?

[86:34]When you're on a plane and somebody next to you takes their shoes off.

[86:37]Nice.

[86:38]And then you take your shoes off and you kind of touch feet a little bit.

[86:42]You guys know what I'm talking about?

[86:43]Just a foot touch with a stranger.

[86:44]Just a little touchy.

[86:47]He's going to make sure that cheesy sock doesn't get too far away.

[86:50]Cheesy sock?

[86:50]What are you talking about?

[86:51]Remember Matt Weitz with the cheesy dust on his sock?

[86:54]Suzanne, you now know why I just keep quiet, right?

[86:57]Because every time I try to say something, you know, it just instantly goes to cheesy dust on feet on a plane.

[87:02]I get it now.

[87:04]This is a normal conversation.

[87:06]Also a reminder, I am a character on this podcast.

[87:08]Strange loop to close it out.

[87:11]I kind of put the ending of this just to show you the end of the album.

[87:14]Improvised.

[87:16]Instrumental.

[87:17]Instrumental.

[87:17]Alright.

[87:24]There's something so thin about the guitar sound, but like razor thin in a cool way.

[87:31]Yeah.

[87:32]I mean, I think what you said earlier about her getting used to playing on a very small amplifier.

[87:37]You can tell the treble's turned way up.

[87:39]And she almost makes up for it too in her voice, right?

[87:41]Where she's hitting those low notes a lot of times or trying to really get down there.

[87:44]So you saw that full spectrum.

[87:46]But it's just...

[87:47]It's such an interesting sound, I think.

[87:49]Yeah.

[87:49]Alright.

[87:49]Let's get into the popular and patented rating system.

[87:54]Suzanne, what do you think of the rating system?

[87:59]I forgot what that is.

[88:01]She's never listened this far.

[88:04]This is where I fall asleep.

[88:07]I'm sorry.

[88:07]If I got good news for you, because just for you, Suzanne, I will explain the rating system in quite some detail.

[88:13]Legit question.

[88:14]Have you ever listened to an episode this far?

[88:16]Do you even know what's happening right now?

[88:17]I've listened just about this far.

[88:19]I don't think I've ever listened to the end, though.

[88:21]Yeah, Aaron starts talking about music.

[88:24]You shouldn't mention it.

[88:25]A lot of good stuff is actually right at the end.

[88:29]The fact that most of our biggest listeners think that we sometimes forget to turn the mics off and talk afterwards makes me think maybe we're not...

[88:35]A lot of people are not listening toward the end.

[88:36]But guess what?

[88:37]I don't care.

[88:37]Just download it.

[88:38]That's all I care about.

[88:39]That's how I judge myself worth.

[88:41]The rating system.

[88:43]This is 56 on the Rolling Stones.

[88:45]Top 500 albums of all time.

[88:47]Is this album, Suzanne, does this deserve to be at 56?

[88:52]This is after, right after Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, one of the best-selling albums of all time.

[88:56]Is this a rolling well-toned?

[88:59]And, of course, that means it's perfect at 56.

[89:01]That's right where it should be.

[89:02]No problem.

[89:03]Is this a rolling bone?

[89:05]Okay, did this album get rolling boned?

[89:07]It is way too low on the list.

[89:09]Now, you might say, low on the list?

[89:10]Boy, 56 is pretty high.

[89:11]Low actually means higher up, because lower on the list.

[89:16]Because we're starting at that.

[89:17]We're low numbers.

[89:17]We're going up high.

[89:18]You have to reverse those numbers in your head.

[89:20]So, lower on the list is actually a higher number.

[89:22]However, if you were looking at the Rolling Stones website, this would be pretty low on the page, because the pages go 100 to 50.

[89:29]So, this is actually pretty low on the page.

[89:30]It's kind of in the midpoint of the list.

[89:32]But, actually, it's about 10% of the way through.

[89:34]Or, is this a rolling groan?

[89:37]Okay, it's like that guy in the weight room.

[89:39]I feel like there's still some meat on that bone with the guy in the weight room.

[89:42]We should maybe circle back to that.

[89:44]Is Rob on the second one or the third one right now?

[89:45]This is the rolling groan.

[89:46]That means that you did not like this album.

[89:48]It shouldn't be a 56.

[89:49]It should be off the list, like the first time they made this Rolling Stone list.

[89:52]Or, maybe it should be 57, 58, 59, 60.

[89:56]69.

[89:57]Yeah, Aaron.

[89:58]Come on.

[89:58]We don't have to.

[89:58]Aaron.

[90:00]Now, I got to start over.

[90:01]So, what do you think, Suzanne?

[90:02]Is this at 56?

[90:03]Is this a rolling well-toned, a rolling bone, or a rolling groan?

[90:06]What do you think?

[90:07]This song was pretty fucking good.

[90:10]And, it's too low on the list, meaning too…

[90:13]Wait, it should be higher up.

[90:15]Oh, God.

[90:15]You got me confused.

[90:16]It should be up and down.

[90:17]This is not cool.

[90:18]That's why you need me to explain it.

[90:19]It's too low on the list.

[90:20]It needs a higher number.

[90:21]We'll sell you the patent for 20 bucks right now.

[90:23]There needs to be more female rockers.

[90:25]She's pretty awesome.

[90:27]She's an icon.

[90:27]I love her.

[90:28]She's just doing it the right way.

[90:31]She's still making albums.

[90:32]She's the best.

[90:33]So, yeah.

[90:34]Bone it up.

[90:35]Oh.

[90:36]Whatever you say.

[90:37]I'm sorry.

[90:38]We say rolling…

[90:39]Well, you know because you listen to so many episodes.

[90:41]Rolling bone.

[90:42]Aaron, what do you think?

[90:43]Is this a rolling well-toned, rolling bone, or rolling groan?

[90:47]Yeah, I was so excited about it.

[90:48]Rolling well-toned means it's perfectly right where it is.

[90:50]Rolling bone means that it's got bone.

[90:52]And rolling groan means it actually is not that good.

[90:54]So, Aaron, go ahead, please.

[90:55]I did not know this album as well as I would have liked to.

[91:00]I was really…

[91:02]I had so much fun.

[91:02]Behind the scenes of the podcast, we had a fairly short listening period between this

[91:08]one and the previous.

[91:08]And I wish that I had gotten into this one earlier and spent more time with it.

[91:13]It's one that I'll listen to again many times.

[91:15]So, that's exciting.

[91:16]And on first listen, it didn't strike me as a top 50, top 100 album.

[91:21]But by the time I got through it the second time and sat with it a minute, I have to say…

[91:26]I don't know.

[91:28]I'm going to say rolling well-toned.

[91:30]At 56, I think it's okay.

[91:31]It's a well-deserved spot for this album.

[91:33]Matt, what do you think?

[91:35]Rolling well-toned, rolling boned, or rolling groan?

[91:38]I think like Aaron maybe said…

[91:42]I don't know.

[91:42]I don't want to categorize it this way.

[91:43]But the first time I listened to it, it didn't…

[91:46]It didn't grab me probably because of…

[91:49]I don't know why.

[91:49]I don't know why it didn't grab me.

[91:50]But it just didn't grab me.

[91:51]I went on to the next album and kind of went from there.

[91:53]But, you know, doing a little bit more research into why this was where it was at, I mean,

[91:58]I came across one quote that I think stood out to me.

[92:03]Liz said,

[92:04]I just wanted people who thought I was not worth talking to to listen to me.

[92:08]You know, and I think she accomplished that in this album.

[92:12]Clearly, she's got a huge following.

[92:16]You know, to what Suzanne said, she's still making music today, still relevant today.

[92:20]And, you know, so I'll go…

[92:22]Not what Suzanne said.

[92:24]I don't think this is a rolling boner.

[92:26]I think I'm going to go with what Rosie said and just say this is rolling well-toned.

[92:30]Russell, what do you think?

[92:32]Is this a rolling well-toned, rolling boned, or rolling groaned?

[92:34]All right.

[92:36]I love the songs that were like commercial…

[92:39]I don't know if they weren't commercial hits, but they were more poppy.

[92:41]To me, they were like 90s music.

[92:42]Fuck and Run, Never Said, Six Foot One.

[92:45]I like those.

[92:46]Some of the slower ones, I wasn't that into, but I really liked reading the lyrics.

[92:50]I thought when you read the lyrics, it was super interesting to like…

[92:53]It felt like she's kind of having a voice, and I could see how she would be influential for other people

[92:57]in speaking up and kind of living their life and having their voice.

[93:01]So, I really…

[93:02]There were some songs I didn't love, but I love the meaning behind it, so I'll say rolling well-toned.

[93:06]All right.

[93:06]The correct answer is this is a rolling indie definition.

[93:09]Guys, this is like the beginning of the indie rock boom in the United States.

[93:14]You can hear Atlantis.

[93:16]Listen to this.

[93:16]You can hear Garbage.

[93:17]You can hear Amy Mann.

[93:18]You can hear Fiona Apple.

[93:19]You can even hear, I think, kind of setting the groundwork for our own namesake.

[93:24]Next week, we have an album by a band who has never been banned.

[93:30]It's the band by The Band.

[93:32]And if you don't like it, Too Banned.

[93:35]Too Banned.

[93:38]When you want to hear…

[93:40]I wrote that down.

[93:41]I wrote that joke down.

[93:42]Mr. Irrelevant.

[93:43]Garbage.

[93:44]That's what I should have thought of.

[93:46]The whole podcast.

[93:47]I was trying to think of who else.

[93:48]Fucking dumb shits.

[93:49]I had it.

[93:49]I did that sound.

[93:50]You were just holding that back.

[93:51]I've got the perfect podcast for you, Jack.

[93:59]Beck did it better.

[94:01]Suzanne, did you at least slice the cake really thick, or was it a thinly, thinly sliced cake?

[94:07]That was a huge debate in the family.

[94:09]Oh, my God.

[94:10]I didn't slice it, because I was going to slice it so thin.

[94:13]Oh, gosh.

[94:15]Oh, everyone hates the thin…

[94:18]Oh, hey, let's go to the party where it's thinly sliced homemade cake.

[94:21]I love that party.

[94:23]You could see through it.

[94:24]Oh, yes.

[94:25]Oh, yes.

[94:26]Terrible.

[94:26]Lacy, lacy thin.
