Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA (1984)
[00:00]all right here we go nothing can possibly go wrong today oh i think jenny came out and just
[00:06]started the dryer right next to me right before we started she was like hey rob are you gonna do
[00:10]a podcast yeah i am i'm gonna just turn on this fucking dryer and put it on towel cycle it's like
[00:15]two hours long this thing has been going like throws like a hammer in the middle of the dryer
[00:19]let's have a little racket to it right honey did i put a belt in there again ah no don't worry about
[00:26]it not a big deal why does your belt always need to be washed rob
[00:31]how's the belt get dirty i've never seen a belt this sweaty
[00:37]get it rob uh yes it's because i tied the belt around my neck and use it to help me masturbate
[00:47]uh those of you that knew the podcast welcome okay welcome welcome all the way i did i did i
[00:53]watched uh i've been watching shameless
[00:55]it's the show i think it was on showtime it's hilarious wildly inappropriate for kids but
[01:00]they talk about auto erotic asphyxiation the guy who's sitting at the end of the bar he said
[01:05]if you're gonna do it you gotta put a lemon in your mouth while you're doing it because if you
[01:10]pass out eventually the sweetness will or the sourness will get into your mouth and it'll cause
[01:15]you to wake up so rob if you're ever doing i don't think that's the problem i don't think that's the
[01:20]problem when they accidentally kill themselves masturbating is that they no i think you just
[01:24]need something to wake you up can i ask if uh if a citrus squeeze truly will work no probably work
[01:32]put the whole can of truly in there if we caught you in a hotel room dead and there's a belt around
[01:39]your neck and a truly in your mouth i would lay it on the floor would you clean it up for me or
[01:43]would you let would you let it come out i would tell your family that you died masturbating with
[01:49]a belt around your neck and i would not tell them about the truly that's how good of a friend i am
[01:54]can you imagine that's part of that you'd say my reputation by saying there was a lemon but there
[02:00]you wouldn't make any mention of the truly right and i would say hey that that was for everybody
[02:04]out there was listening to the podcast we appreciate it can you imagine me giving that
[02:09]podcast bit at your funeral russ i'm looking forward to it in 2020 four friends decided to
[02:14]listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums is decided by rolling stone magazine this resulted
[02:18]a text chain that celebrated the music excoriated the order and led us to making this podcast we are
[02:23]far from experts we promise to do almost no research all opinions are our own unless you
[02:27]disagree please sit back and enjoy beck did it better we are all the way up to album 142 and
[02:34]from 1984 it's the number one hugo in my mind the boss bruce springsteen with born in the usa there's
[02:43]a lot of layers to that hugo boss joke you go uh you gotta really dig deep porn did you say porn
[02:49]or born in the usa born in the usa oh gotcha not porn in the usa
[02:53]as the people who just listened as they fall asleep and then the next episode starts just
[02:57]hearing that joke and then the same joke again with the next two minutes anyway today guys is uh
[03:03]coronation day and uh oh don't get me started i'd log in i log in to do my wordle today and
[03:11]the first fucking thing i gotta see is king charles is in his get up we don't have to do
[03:16]that shit man well you know who i know that was at the coronation for a fact is on her instagram
[03:22]elizabeth holmes
[03:23]was there and she was giving away signed copies of her book to almost to almost anyways total
[03:28]strangers she was giving away copies of the book did not care if they knew her or whatever they
[03:32]said she said oh i'll send this to absolutely everyone except for one person spare so anyways
[03:40]guys as my joke was going to be yes today we're not doing a coronation we're we're doing a hard
[03:46]coronation we're going to make this show more hardcore tonight i promise this is going to be
[03:50]the most hardcore show we've ever done
[03:53]russ is going to be sitting there chewing his nails to the quick trying to decide what to edit
[03:56]out of this thing oh yeah this is gonna be great so hardcore rob i'm going with ruby grapefruit
[04:02]instead of 11 one oh my god ruby grapefruit oh i got a canker sore just hearing that all right
[04:10]what if you came in rob it's just me with the belt and there's just like a dozen truly cans
[04:14]sprinkled all over the floor and the first 11 works and the last one let me down oh you didn't
[04:21]pick up the cans in between
[04:23]during the refractory period you did not pick up any of the cans you just left them on the floor
[04:26]of your hotel so you get so tired after that i'm gonna catch a nap here and there we know he doesn't
[04:33]tip the the room staff at the hotel we know that for a fact he's let that slip before so he's
[04:38]putting all those truly cans on the ground and not tipping actually rob before you get to your
[04:42]song i will say there was a let's call this a listener of our podcast and they listened to my
[04:47]story about the bartender issue i had with the espresso martinis remember how there's that one
[04:53]that keeps coming around i can't get rid of him this listener of ours said did you tell them that
[04:58]you're such a good tipper that that's part of the reason why the guy keeps coming back because i'm a
[05:02]very good tipper rob and that's part of the reason why the guy won't let us go can you believe that
[05:08]my that you let him on that your good friend is giving you that kind of encouragement of like
[05:13]you're a good tipper just gassing you up like that meanwhile my spouse with matt says no when the
[05:19]comic ass doesn't matter how big he is in bed like that's the difference of support we're getting
[05:24]wrestling interesting so yeah it's very interesting maybe you should tip better
[05:29]you should give better tip rob listen i would but it's so hot
[05:34]i'm trying but it's so hot it's red hot all right let's get into the radio
[05:42]man i think it's already falling asleep here we go no i'm trying to find that
[05:46]send you that link
[05:47]okay
[05:49]now a lot of people out there have dated chad's man rob because of his looks
[05:53]but there's more to me than that or is there oh yeah i was dating this woman
[06:00]but she broke up with me today oh no the reason was given
[06:07]i didn't know exactly what i should say said there's something about me
[06:14]oh she said there's something that she disdains
[06:19]and now i'm thinking
[06:20]but that's the problem i have a little brain
[06:25]yes she won't go out with you unless you're smart and now she's blowing
[06:33]some guy that's reading renee gickard oh yeah i could have put it mozart or
[06:41]uh
[06:44]i'm not a great student but i'm reading everything
[06:49]in my bookcase and now i'm hoping that she'll come over and sit on my face
[06:57]i know david was done by michelangelo and now i'm hoping
[07:05]that knowing this fact will get me fellatio
[07:10]she's attracted to guys like bill gate and now i'm hoping
[07:18]that she'll come over and sit on my face i'm broken up by my artists i know david was done by michelangelo and now i'm hoping that knowing this fact will get me fellatio
[07:19]yes
[07:19]i'm at least smart enough so we can mutually masturbate
[07:23]it's the perfect podcast
[07:44]it's the perfect podcast guys
[07:47]we start we we had a song
[07:49]with the words mutually masturbate
[07:51]oh finally my dream has come true
[07:54]uh anyway that was a song written by a pretty funny guy obviously
[07:58]um and i did say we were going more hardcore
[08:01]do you guys know that chat gbt will not give you the response with
[08:05]can you tell me uh things that are smart and things that are sex acts that rhyme
[08:11]it cannot do that
[08:12]because i had to be like i'd be like okay city in my face what rhymes with that that's also
[08:17]smart
[08:17]and i was like bookcase ah yes very smart stuff sending a rocket into space
[08:24]that would be a smart thing to do what the fuck that's way better than a bookcase
[08:29]dang man dang you got me listen i got four guys here who can't believe this album isn't at 123
[08:35]oh wait let me say like bruce springsteen would one two three
[08:40]uh i've got russ in minnesota russ how are you doing
[08:45]hey aaron and matt standing over there in the corner today's your lucky day for sure all right
[08:50]me and my buddy rob he's from new york city we got two hundred dollars and we want to rock all night
[08:57]yes yeah and a lot of people are losing their jobs
[09:00]200 is that all it takes
[09:02]oh right i was continuing the lyrics and i did one of these songs where he's always like
[09:06]i think i would stop hooking i would might stop hooking if i was only getting two hundred dollars
[09:11]a night for two dudes right i mean come on like 200 to rock all night with two dudes
[09:15]you got a chart i mean the normal rate is only 100 or do they like compound it
[09:20]yeah so far this is the this is the most hardcore show we've done this is so good
[09:24]the dog is scratching at the door good oh no oh that's hard this is hard oh yep yep i've got matt
[09:30]minneapolis matt how are you doing uh good this podcast is just trying to recapture a little of
[09:35]the glory of yeah but you know as time slips away leaves you with nothing but rob talking about his
[09:42]glorious penis oh god
[09:45]shoot that would have been a good song too
[09:48]instead of glory days i could have done glorious penis
[09:53]i if you don't think i tried to write a song about glory holes
[09:57]to glory days you don't know me very well what if what if it was glory
[10:02]grays talking about your pubic hair glory grays oh no no it's scratching on jenny's door wait i
[10:08]gotta be right back jenny's gonna wake up jesus christ what if we just took over the podcast and
[10:13]let rob sit it out and he can come back with his glory
[10:15]hole glory hole days song and i've got out in california now listen after aaron was just telling
[10:22]us before the podcast started that when uh when aaron's kid was born he pulled the doctor aside
[10:27]and he said listen doc i know this is a weird question but when can we have uh when can we
[10:31]have sex again oh the doctor said well i'm not sure but i get off work in two hours
[10:35]that's what she said the doctor was a woman you guys did you picture the doctor being a woman
[10:42]yes if you didn't picture the doctor being a woman having sex
[10:45]you have preconceived biases and you better work on it okay better yourself please not only are we
[10:52]hardcore we're teaching you about your biases i was gonna make a you thought aaron was having
[10:55]sex with a man dressed as a doctor think about what you just said that's biased
[11:00]well i think we're going down let's talk about born in the usa dan rather biased i want to make
[11:08]an announcement right now and i was going to say this out of the show but it seems like i should
[11:11]be now too the last two emails we've gotten from russ about the episodes have both started with
[11:14]too long for me so this episode we are going to try to shorten it up okay literally he just
[11:21]writes too long for me i'm like well that's not that's very bad you are you are actually one of
[11:26]the things that this show is aimed at like you're our number one audience people who know us like
[11:31]that's it that's generally been one of the uh the the reviews i've been giving what i've been
[11:36]hooking recently also rob that is too long for me for only 200 bucks that's a review i've never
[11:44]done too long for me now listen okay and so podcast listener out there look at the time
[11:51]that this episode goes and see is it under 130 did we make it did we do it are we successful
[11:57]you know our fate we don't dr do people yelp do people yelp their sex workers is that a thing
[12:02]i wouldn't do you i mean it's gotta exist right i bought my car out the other day i had a lease
[12:08]and i bought my car yes this goes right into a story and i uh afterwards you know the process
[12:14]but the guy texted me directly was like could you please go on google reviews and leave a review
[12:21]just for me and i just ignored it like i'm not doing that shit what do you guys think do you
[12:25]ever do that do you leave reviews like on public sites for things can i can i give you guys a
[12:30]embarrassing story when i went down to florida i got a free jujitsu lesson at a place and they
[12:34]said all you have to do is leave a positive google review and we'll give you a free lesson
[12:38]and i said oh yeah sure i'm happy to do it i went in really nice place had a great time super clean
[12:44]it was really nice and i left and that was six weeks ago you guys want to guess what i'm gonna
[12:50]see next i have not written the review it's in my head i think about it every day i'm like i should
[12:56]write that review there it is tell tell them listen to the podcast there's your oh my gosh
[13:01]just put a link to this episode two stars not great all right there's the review uh and now
[13:07]let's get into our voicemail oh and yes
[13:14]i do russell all the time yeah that's very kind man you what what were we talking about again
[13:23]seriously what were we talking about never never negative ones just positive ones so
[13:30]do you use like the server's name in them well no it's like you know like we went to that
[13:36]vineyard out when we were out near napa sonoma and people were very nice and there were new
[13:41]vineyard and stuff yeah well this is great you know things like that
[13:44]for sure we'll put it when it's like a new new business or like there's young owners that are
[13:48]just like we're working so hard yeah and then you're like you leave a review and you're like
[13:53]number two you're like i'm a goddamn hero i'm a folk hero like if people should be worshiping me
[13:56]i'm that i'm keeping what's america i'm what's america right now i'm keeping it going so i think
[14:02]this might be a cry for help i don't know why i'm calling but and two things happened
[14:06]okay so good start right might be a cry for help might be if you've already figured out that it
[14:13]might be yeah hey if you're asking the question you know the answer all right i'm steady sat at
[14:20]his kitchen table and his nuts touched his chair and no one really raised any questions about that
[14:27]yeah because everybody does it everybody has sat at their kitchen nude guys hands up if you've done
[14:34]it what's that have you what russ what are you doing we're doing a show i asked you four times
[14:41]to turn that voicemail up i can't hear it
[14:43]i didn't refuse i can't turn it up anymore wait let me check one thing i think this caller's got
[14:51]a ball gag in his mouth no it's gonna be amplified through the podcast or you can hear it like i can
[14:56]this guy this guy said that when i talked about sitting my nuts down at the kitchen table you
[15:02]guys didn't think it was weird you didn't say anything you just let that slide by with no
[15:06]conversation i don't think anyone would be surprised if you're walking around naked i
[15:13]was in view of my neighbor in the back so i have to watch the nudity have you ever sat at the kitchen
[15:18]table naked matt you have come on never never have you guys have never done that russell i mean these
[15:25]chairs aren't that comfy i don't know like they're wooden chairs that's my point you wouldn't like
[15:29]me to make it no it's not great i'm telling you russell come on russell come through for me you
[15:34]know what i don't really lie russell i don't really have a kitchen table i have a table in
[15:39]my kitchen that's like a that's kind of like a hold the mail
[15:43]yeah it's a hold the mail but it's a it's like a built-in bench and honestly like i just don't
[15:49]like sitting there it's like a booth that's built into the wall i don't like sitting there
[15:52]so i have a table out here but for the last three years this table has been full of like computer
[15:57]monitors and stuff so i don't think this is really considered the the kitchen table but no i don't
[16:03]sit out here naked at either one of them russell i gotta ask where are you eating meals my man
[16:08]sounds like there is no place to eat a meal in your house i would i would usually move if i need to if
[16:13]i'm gonna eat at the table here i would eat if you need to i like it if i'm gonna eat yeah what
[16:18]are you doing just i moved my keyboard you see this keyboard i have you got a coffee table i
[16:24]mean i do have a coffee table in the living room too yes russell it sounds like you live in a space
[16:30]pod somewhere i mean your house sounds smarter than aaron's we might have to do it we might
[16:35]have to do a camera tour russell get that laptop moving around russell russell i i feel you man if
[16:41]i'm gonna eat something
[16:43]by myself i'm gonna sit at my ass down in front of the tv or something i'm not gonna just go like
[16:47]sit at a table by myself with my nuts hitting the chair just to feel a little feeling from
[16:53]something you know like what are you looking at with you to stare you start watching your phone
[16:56]or what are you doing when you're sitting at a kitchen table by yourself rob i would want to sit
[17:00]the kitchen table naked before i sit on my couch naked really i mean my couch it's it's suede it's
[17:05]like microfiber like there's a don't need that like what if you know what i mean what would you
[17:10]be more embarrassed rob if you were sitting at one
[17:12]of them naked and the whole family came home which one would you be like oh fuck and this is bad
[17:16]oh on the couch because you're so reclined
[17:19]you're so reclined so that would be the door opens and you scramble yeah yeah i would i don't know
[17:28]what i would have to act like like somebody robbed me i don't know i think at least on the couch you
[17:31]could just claim you were doing something in like private that you shouldn't be doing when other
[17:35]people walk in but like at the kitchen table what the fuck right i mean maybe it's just you
[17:41]got distracted by like a cadbury egg
[17:42]you're like oh i was going to the shower but oh actually i'm really excited to eat
[17:45]this cabbage or whatever the dog jumped in my wife's bed she was out here yelling at me about
[17:50]it my god my life's over all right let's get back to this voicemail hey under 130 i think we can
[17:56]still do it guys then there was a voicemail from a woman very kind woman named charm who was
[18:02]heaping praise on you and you said she was the only one that called it didn't know you well
[18:07]i don't know you i'm in chicago and i think the reason this was recommended with me because
[18:12]i listened to sea change right back and next thing you know i've listened to more than 50 episodes of
[18:17]this yes this is for real our seo totally worked russ you were right i yeah i thought i i honestly
[18:25]i thought this was one of two people yeah me too i thought it was brian from woodbury at first but
[18:29]then they started talking about sitting with your nuts at the table there's no way that brian's
[18:32]talking about i thought it was john from edina i thought it was john from edina and then i'm looking
[18:37]you know john from edina has been a lot of places naked and sat a lot of places naked so
[18:43]that would be completely another internet stranger another internet that's crazy
[18:48]sea change is my favorite beck album has lost cause on it yes aaron keep this seo going i love
[18:53]it and now to make it even weirder i recommended it to a friend from st olaf and he knows a couple
[19:00]of you guys so seriously why am i listening to this oh
[19:04]and we know that that person didn't go to st olaf no because he called it st olaf
[19:10]doesn't bother us
[19:13]we're fine wow someone doesn't even know this stuff doesn't even know limestones
[19:18]i think this guy nailed it right on the head is like he's what the fuck am i doing with my life
[19:27]but i actually love listening to the podcast so it was like a back
[19:31]handed way back doorway of saying i'm not listening to the podcast
[19:34]he really likes us he likes you rob he really really likes you
[19:37]he's out there yeah he's stuck it's all i want waiting waiting to get us in his ear holes
[19:42]what yeah okay guys i got it i he's scratching at my wife's door again this is craziness
[19:47]guys rob is fucking off the chain what is going on right now he is off the rails
[19:54]he's playing these voicemails that don't make any sense and then he's getting pissed at us
[19:59]for not understanding them and it's like you can barely hear it i don't know what the fuck he's
[20:03]talking about
[20:04]and then he just gets up and he's left like four times okay he's back
[20:07]all right so uh that's it for the voicemail hey another stranger we salute you did that guy leave
[20:16]his name did he did that guy leave his name or no i don't think so okay because i just want to
[20:20]salute whoever you are from chicagoland thank you for listening we salute you some of us appreciate
[20:27]some of us appreciate you listening we'll take a shot in the lord mr chicagoland oh lord oh that's
[20:32]so gross all right let's get into it
[20:34]let's get into everybody's favorite part of the show we'll put some garden air on our hot dogs
[20:38]oh yeah it's time to see what everybody's up to what's jardineer time for roll it's like pickled
[20:44]peppers like some sort of chicago thing pickled pickled pepper relish that goes on italian beef
[20:49]i wonder how much i could get could i get a peck of it and after and after uh watching shameless
[20:55]that guy definitely does not live on the south side of chicago he's definitely a north side guy
[20:59]or like a forest park or whatever the outer sub guys we can't do maps of multiple cities i can't
[21:05]do it i don't see why not i mean i think it's really uh erin rolling going how's it going with
[21:10]you uh it's going really well i all right let me see if this works okay i've got something very
[21:15]important to talk to you guys about all right can you guys still hear me you see me yeah oh
[21:22]all right are you quitting no nope i just want to i want to read a few things to you when we
[21:27]have all this silence this is what i'm going to drink my
[21:29]mango truly is to keep me awake right now what the fuck's going on all right i just want to read
[21:34]i just want to read a few things to you okay you ready i want to know your body okay how you make
[21:42]me feel yeah yes beside you okay i keep calling you okay get gasms if we don't have each other
[21:54]i need to look at my dating apps roll around okay
[21:59]you fill me up and finally i fit in there you guys this is the track list from smoky robinson's
[22:11]newest album gasms released last friday this man is 82 years old and the album is as delightfully
[22:19]awkward as it sounds it's it sounds great it's worth a listen everybody check it out but like
[22:26]this man is still out there putting out track lists for you guys so i'm going to read a few things to you guys
[22:29]like that it's a extremely horny album so good for smoky he's 82 i hope every 82 year old out there
[22:35]is working like smoky is if you notice that one of the songs on the album ends with the words
[22:40]mutual masturbation i'm going to tell you right now that is parallel thinking okay i did not copy
[22:44]it or it could be perpendicular do you think he's always been this way or do you think now
[22:53]that he's like 80s he's just says fuck it and i'm just gonna start i'm gonna guess he's always
[22:59]been this way but he had to kind of like you know he he had a he had to keep it motown he had to keep
[23:05]it radio right he had a lane right so he had to kind of like but he started the quiet storm i mean
[23:10]his he literally has an album called the quiet storm but i i recommend people go out there goes
[23:15]the dog if you you know if you're hanging out with a somebody fucking rob's gone again you guys
[23:22]believe this shit i think i think part of smokey's probably doing it like he realizes his relevance
[23:29]and so you kind of have to throw some sort of shock value into what you're doing to keep an
[23:33]audience right yes you're exactly right because he's also running around doing quincy jones style
[23:38]interviews where he's like oh back in the 70s i had an affair with diana ross when we were both
[23:42]married like stuff it's just like wait a minute like nobody needed to know he's just throwing
[23:45]everything out to like make whatever news article he can or to get interviews or to to i mean you
[23:52]can probably get him on this podcast at this point right is it is it any good did you listen to the
[23:57]album is it any good it is absolutely good yeah it's it's top-notch r&b i mean it's really good
[24:02]like the the band is good they're good grooves no it's absolutely worth a listen but also
[24:07]just amazing and i've been i've been watching this for at least three months i was like i've
[24:13]been planning my rolling going around gasms but i wanted to listen to it before i talked about it
[24:17]and i knew i knew the release date was april 28th i've been looking forward to it but now i've had
[24:23]a week to sit with it you know the gasm is released i knew the gasm is
[24:27]released get out there get yourself some gasms everybody i highly recommend can you imagine
[24:31]this is i think this is all a ploy that aaron got his internet history found out
[24:35]by his wife and was like uh no i'm really into uh the new smoky robinson album and then he has
[24:43]like paul smoky robinson's like smoky you owe me one you have to make an album now called gasms i
[24:48]gotta get out of this he announces it a week later if i had that kind of clout with smoky
[24:53]robinson i'm not sure that's what i'm using for there's been a lot of albums
[24:57]that have come out by like 80 year olds right like uh neil young you know he's put out stuff
[25:01]he's put out music lately it's just not that good right like things are going downhill bob dylan i
[25:07]mean he keeps touring and keeps putting out stuff and he hasn't had anything good you know since
[25:10]about 2000 so i don't know i i would be very leery of anything that comes out but if you say
[25:16]it's good obviously not me i will always i mean there are some there's there are limits but i love
[25:21]old guy albums man like i mean johnny cash like johnny cash's very very last one is too hard to
[25:27]some joe strummer albums i really like i like uh some chris christopherson stuff i love old man
[25:32]albums okay yeah gasms checking out that was it that's my whole thing do you guys remember the
[25:37]movie orgasmo yeah yeah i remember i watched that movie with you more times than i can what would
[25:43]you guys think of someone who has a friend and their favorite movie was orgasmo for at least a
[25:48]year it wasn't me but aaron and i had a mutual friend that this was their favorite movie what
[25:54]would you think that's that you can tell that's in a pre-dating world where you had you had to
[25:59]have like it's like it's like me when at work when somebody asked you know oh what book are you reading
[26:02]right now and i have to like say the same book i've been saying for the last two years or whatever
[26:05]you just have to come up with a movie that's not orgasmo when you're on a date
[26:10]hey what do you want to watch you panic orgasmo what is my favorite movie god damn it if it's
[26:17]the guy i'm thinking of i think the dating was not not that easy for him anyway so i think he was so
[26:24]late shifts at mcdonald's rob you know my go-to book right i've told you once before it's the game
[26:30]penetrating the secret society of pickup artists that's what you tell people you're reading when
[26:37]you're yeah when you're on a date yeah i'm negating you dummy i'm a sapiosexual uh russell
[26:45]rolling going how's it going with you rolling going things are really good i actually i went
[26:50]on a trip last week i went to the nation's capitol
[26:54]washington dc i went for a work trip and i thought i could uh get some advice from you
[26:59]guys i might need to go to the advice corner here for something oh no i said i would never
[27:03]stop this song once i started oh we gotta play it then get get get to the corner it's time to do
[27:10]both ruffles now i'm so mad oh yeah can't wait to find god save the king on our podcast we don't
[27:16]have to do this yes we do eric it's not god save the king don't have to do it
[27:24]this is actually the other song yes by liege
[27:28]now let's all put up our piggies and swear an oath to the real king charles
[27:35]i expected it better swear allegiance to king charles
[27:40]whatever he does i'll do it whatever he says it's fine yes my liege
[27:44]so anyways i was out in dc last week for a cool work event and i thought you know what there's
[27:52]this purse this
[27:54]traveler that i know and this traveler had started giving me some grief in recent months
[27:58]because i'd been to arizona a few times i'd been out of minneapolis i've been out of the weather
[28:04]and i've gone to nice places for work trips and i have chosen not to invite this traveler along
[28:09]because i would rather it just be a work trip where i can focus on getting my job done and i
[28:13]started go ahead don't have to say why like we get it russell we we get why i mean those you'd
[28:21]want to go on a trip by yourself okay those data gaps
[28:24]better when you don't have to worry about you know the three of us understand more than you
[28:28]could possibly imagine if you told any of us right now that we have 30 minutes to get out of the house
[28:33]to pack our bags and we buy ourselves for five days we would we would even pack a bag we just
[28:38]run out of the house i'd be like i'll pack a bag wherever i'm going let's go i'll buy a bag when i
[28:45]get there so so i i go to this trip and i i i say hey to this traveler you should come with
[28:50]we can stay a few extra days in dc we can explore the city we can go to the city we can go to the
[28:54]city we can go to some fun restaurants it'll be fun so the the traveler takes me up on this offer
[28:59]they come out to dc i finish up my conference and we do some fun things we do for the ford theater
[29:05]where lincoln was assassinated i i don't want to give rod really super fun i really didn't even
[29:10]want to bring that up because i don't want rob to go down that route because i feel like that
[29:13]that you know we could have the authorities called on us if rob starts making those types of jokes i
[29:18]have one thing to say to that russell sig semper tyrannus okay
[29:24]we ended up going to some fun restaurants we walked down to capitol hill we we did some of
[29:32]the monuments we did the number one speakeasy in dc which was fantastic we went to georgetown for
[29:38]a bunch of great things a bunch of fun things um one of my favorite things you guys will love this
[29:44]the traveler is is a runner this person wants to get out and do their run every day so one of these
[29:50]days they were going to say i'm going to go do the run i was like you should go down to the mall you
[29:54]know the monuments and everything it's like one of the best runs you can do right i did i'm sorry
[29:57]i must have misheard you because you said we should go down to the mall right is that what
[30:02]you said to that i said i said you should go jogging down at the mall together you you should
[30:06]go down you should go so here's the reason i let this person go not that i wanted to go running
[30:12]with them to begin with but i let them go running so i could sneak away and go to a baseball game
[30:17]what are your thoughts about how long of a run was this seven miles i guess with
[30:24]the pitch clock you can yeah is it okay for me to bust away and go do like something fun
[30:28]while while the traveler is going for a run on the mall like if that's what they want to do in cdc i
[30:34]should be able to go do that right did you did you tell them that while they were going on this run
[30:41]you were going to the base yes i did matt i did i didn't get any it wasn't like well i just go you
[30:46]know i'm gonna i'm gonna go find something to do for the next hour and a half two hours did you
[30:51]say it before or did you say it while the plan was in motion like you're like yeah i'm in a car
[30:55]there's nothing i could do i have to go how long are you how far you're running about nine innings
[30:58]you're gonna run like or maybe you're gonna run like seven innings how many things would you say
[31:02]this run's gonna we were definitely planning like a brunch and all this stuff and these things and
[31:05]at one point i realized oh this is a possibility and i may have pushed for like a certain brunch
[31:10]spot that opened at a certain time so that my schedule would line up to get to the ford's
[31:16]theater in the morning get to this brunch spot and then it's the logical time to run
[31:21]which just happens to coincide with 107 in the pm in the eastern time right so this enthusiast
[31:27]will run after brunch it's an it's a travel and a running enthusiast aaron i'm impressed
[31:32]that's great i would like a nap after brunch but the real question i had to ask in fact i would
[31:38]say brunch is one of the worst meals you could eat before jogging right like there's there's
[31:41]there's salsa there's like tostadas i mean there's lots of stuff where you gotta be a coffee
[31:49]just think about that it's tons of coffee
[31:51]alcohol and salsa that's what a brunch is oh my god some people it's bloodies yeah oh no and
[31:59]bloodies you cannot have bloodies and go running you will have a bloody if you do that oh my god
[32:03]so the real question i had wasn't about my dc trip it was a great trip we had a lot of fun
[32:08]but my question was after this we came back and it turns out this traveler had a trip coming up
[32:14]with their friends and they went to mexico and i didn't get an invite how should i handle if i went
[32:20]out of my way to go to mexico and i didn't get an invite how should i handle if i went out of my way to go to mexico
[32:21]my way to invite this traveler on a trip wow and then this traveler just decides oh i'm gonna go off
[32:26]and have fun in mexico and no invite they gave me a courtesy invite like three days before when i
[32:33]brought up i said hey just saying courtesy i didn't get an invite they said that well do you
[32:39]want to come i was like well it's a little late for that right so how would you guys i think that's
[32:44]an invite my dude i don't know what if you're traveling if you're traveler in your life you
[32:51]they didn't invite you to one of their trips let me think if my traveler in my life was going to
[32:55]leave my house for five to seven days and i would be by myself huh what would i do what would i do
[33:02]sit in the kitchen naked right yeah i would sit right down the kitchen table balls on the chair
[33:07]i would think about it i would use their phone to book an earlier ticket and wake them up early
[33:13]tomorrow and say you have to go the flight's changed you gotta go now goodbye again what
[33:18]is i need a little bit of context so
[33:21]was had this person been planning it for months was it a whim a couple weeks ago
[33:25]and then they just like sprung it on you and said like oh you know matt that would be implying that
[33:31]i've been listening for the whole time and i can't i don't remember if this person had told
[33:35]me about this trip or not and then so then the second thing is is have you ever invited this
[33:40]person is this like a girl's trip or i don't know is this a girl or a guy who is this a travel
[33:44]enthusiast i guess i shouldn't really assume anything technically it was a girl's trip so i
[33:49]had no business going but i thought it was fair for me to be like what the heck so didn't do you
[33:54]invite this travel enthusiast like on your vegas trips with your buddies and things and technically
[33:59]the last time i went to vegas on a work trip this this traveler did get to go remember i spent seven
[34:04]days but not on your guy's trip though but not on your guy's trip right like this this travel
[34:09]enthusiast is not going to show up at the king's corner and start taking yag shots is she next time
[34:15]we go i'm just i'm just trying to say i'm trying to figure out where we're sitting for our next
[34:19]vegas trip january 23rd 2024 staying with mike don't say that mike's gonna send another human
[34:27]head to another hotel i know now the guy from chicago is going to show up too with all these
[34:32]crazy people we need to shut this show down do you guys you guys erin man i think your wife's
[34:38]taking a trip didn't she go to ireland or didn't she go to europe somewhere yeah all the time we
[34:43]want to be by ourselves i mean what we you this what don't you get about this i've tried to be
[34:47]subtle about it we hate i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know
[34:49]our families leave us alone have you wait a minute don't love me in there erin quit that
[34:53]that was like wildly inappropriate like erin is like everyone is yelling at me in this house
[34:58]everyone everyone hates i i mean i i'm under the camp for all things involved right a little bit
[35:04]of time away everybody who's saying that michael mcdonald everybody needs a little time away
[35:10]it's playing in the background right now you can hear it
[35:14]i heard to say peter satara
[35:19]erin isn't your wife on a trip right now without you she is yeah she's in palm springs with her
[35:24]sister and some friends yeah so erin what are you chilling man i'm having fun what what do you do
[35:28]what's your what's your favorite thing to do while while the wife's away or your lady's away that do
[35:34]you find something though didn't you used to like cook shrimp or something like that yes i got a new
[35:39]i got a new i got a new thing when when she's away though i go downtown to the shawarma g yes
[35:47]and i eat i order a shawarma and i get the big bowl of tomb which is a garlic dipping sauce and
[35:55]i just put so much of it on there i just go for it and then i bring the leftover to home and i put it
[35:59]on everything for the rest of the weekend because if i eat that much garlic otherwise um i'm
[36:05]generally asked to sleep elsewhere if that happens so that's that's my new jam is this
[36:11]so your your thing when your spouse is away is getting something and pouring a ton of oil on it
[36:15]is that what i heard
[36:17]it's not oil no but it's like a greasy kind of oil right would you say that are you what are you
[36:21]trying to that's just like what i do when my spouse is away rob why do you stop the music i
[36:26]think this is a good background for you guys to talk about what you're
[36:29]so rob what do you mean the best part and then i go on red tomb i'm like erin i go to red tomb.com
[36:36]and i look up what's the highest watched movie today on red tomb so much your wife and kids
[36:42]have taken some trips recently without you what what do you like to do when you've got the
[36:45]house yourself
[36:47]i i do what i do every day i come home and i put on my noise canceling headphones like leonardo
[36:53]di caprio except instead of having sexual relations with a young woman i'm playing video games and
[36:59]listening to podcasts at the same time because i'm pretty sure i have adult onset adhd you can
[37:04]do that you can you can yep don't the don't the video games have sound i think i don't i really
[37:08]don't want to think about anything i don't want to have any thoughts i don't want to just like
[37:12]if a thought creeps in i'm like oh you gotta push it out put on yeah really i'm like
[37:17]maybe i should get something that makes the smells too you know what i mean like all my
[37:19]senses at once just give it to me how about what about matt what about you man yeah why does rob
[37:24]keep shutting off this song we're getting to the best part rob you were not on point tonight we're
[37:29]just gonna warn you you're not on point oh yeah join the crowd here russell everyone hates me
[37:35]i mean i'm under the impression look i'm under the impression that sarah needs a little time
[37:42]away to just go out and hang out with friends and not just deal with my bullshit every day
[37:47]right so and the kids and all that so i think it's good i think it's good for this uh traveler
[37:52]of yours you know and maybe get a couple days away and just you know come back god russ i missed you
[37:58]man you know so i don't know i i don't know so what did you end up doing yeah what did you that's
[38:04]the question i just did like everything i normally do just like rob does i didn't do anything
[38:09]different you didn't go to mexico at home there's not a cap to the story that you went to mexico i
[38:17]was some buddies last night and had an interesting moment where we were sitting at these tables and
[38:22]the people behind us were playing pool and they wanted they asked one of us to get up out of a
[38:27]chair so they could shoot their pool shot what do you guys think of people who do that at a bar
[38:32]like we're not sitting at a high top we're sitting at like a normal table and like the 16 year old
[38:37]kid asked us to get up so they could shoot the pool shot thoughts i can answer that really quickly
[38:42]that's completely legit especially for playing pool that's fine so okay what happened did you
[38:46]go to mexico
[38:47]this is a total snow job russell it was a fake invite
[38:50]so you did not go to mexico no i need to listen it's hard for me to say i'm sorry but i need to
[38:58]admit something to you okay okay yeah i can't believe this is i think i'm in big trouble
[39:04]when i saw that a traveler had gone to mexico yeah i had assumed that it was possibly a secret
[39:13]surprise
[39:13]and
[39:17]i might have i may have russell russell may have started a text chain with everyone in our text
[39:25]group but you which was really hard to do actually there's a lot of them i've noticed that you guys
[39:29]have been talking about text from manny all night and i'm not on it i've been guessing manny god
[39:34]damn it man what are you doing and i may have said red alert red alert russell is in mexico
[39:41]i had a podcast i'm pretty sure he is getting engaged well yeah that when it came to tonight
[39:46]i was like what we did schedule like friday or saturday he didn't seem to mind i pictured maybe
[39:50]a mic in mexico and your big announcement because i was convinced you had gotten engaged and i was
[39:55]telling everybody and this text chain and then maybe one with some family members of mine and
[40:00]that's it so the fact that you thanks for bringing that up rob you want to can we delete this out
[40:05]when you were not when you showed up on the zoom and you were not super tan i was so mad
[40:12]because i knew exactly what happened oh my god russell
[40:16]i'm sorry i assumed you were getting engaged and i started a big thing for a lot of people
[40:21]and it's actually taking up quite a bit of my time you didn't make any comments on social
[40:25]media or anything did you no okay because it would be too hard to explain a lot of real life
[40:32]happening we're gonna need to bleep this section of the podcast out what a lot of real life going
[40:37]on what oh my god russell you're gonna get listened back we'll see we'll see we'll see
[40:41]what you believe rolling going man how's it going with you oh no didn't go to mexico i can't believe
[40:46]my world is shit right now you started you started a text hold on did 1420 make the private text
[40:52]chain or not yes he did yes you guys have a private text chain with albie with 1420 on it
[40:59]bad doesn't even know his name even though he's gone on a trip with him no i'm gonna tell you
[41:04]right chris his name is chris chris from woodbury i definitely know chris from wood we have never
[41:08]used this text chain before we will never use it again the text chain is banned okay the secret
[41:12]non-rust text chain is banned rob would you even be able i bet rob wouldn't be able to sleep for
[41:16]two weeks if we knew we started a text chain with 1420 on there and not rob oh my god i didn't even
[41:23]think about that would destroy you but sometimes i do think about i'm like are they texting behind
[41:26]my back are they saying things are they saying like why is rob sending 10 texts when nobody has
[41:31]replied yet rob is still texting every night at about 7 30 to 8 that's so strange hey hey matt
[41:36]rolling going rolling going how's it going with you uh good rob rob i my notes are all around just
[41:46]an airline trip i took so you might as well play the song i'll make it real quick so we can keep it
[41:50]under an hour 30 this week oh i've just got a few notes these are the stories that i like
[41:57]i think i've got i've been traveling too much because i got into an argument with a gate agent
[42:11]who told me that you should go in minneapolis there's a south and a north
[42:16]you know that you can go you go through security and she and i was going to go through the south
[42:21]because i said this is closer to my gate this is a real close well you're right on the border of
[42:25]doing a maps bit here where you're talking about the geography of the airport i'm thinking that's
[42:29]true you're trying to do a maps bit on me you know so this lady says you know well it's you
[42:33]know half the distance you get walked back there and you're close to your gate i go no i'm not
[42:38]i'm closer to my gate at this gate you're just telling me that so you want me to go
[42:41]so then i said i'm just staying here she goes okay so i think i got a problem there well you
[42:46]know you know what the airport is the number one place to have happened to you
[42:49]it's the number one place where people get gaslighted and i say it over and over every
[42:53]time i go to the airport you are gaslighted a million times when you are staying in security
[42:57]and they have two people letting in 1 000 people into the airport and they have like two people
[43:01]working there and the slowest baggage thing ever and then they're like you need to get out your id
[43:05]before you get up to the front of the line that's and they're implying that that's what's slowing it
[43:09]down when it's actually them slowing it down and they're gaslighting you into thinking you're the
[43:16]oh man that's deep the worst gaslighter is the people who control the drug dogs
[43:20]and they start yelling and i told you to walk in a slow line and walk at the same pace
[43:26]and they're like yelling at everyone like russell's like i'm i'm keeping my butt cheeks
[43:31]clenched as tight as possible none of this can fall out yeah okay this can you imagine this
[43:36]condom of hashish that i have and by the way i flew it down to mexico and then back it's it was
[43:41]a funny story i got three days to say no the invite but i didn't
[43:45]how many people smuggle drugs both ways hey rob if i were to smuggle drugs i would use
[43:50]um your family company's super small condoms to ingest them
[43:54]and then he would text everyone but you about yes did i tell you guys the other day down the
[44:02]dwayne reed i saw a bunch of guys they were buying 12 packs of beer and magnum condoms literally like
[44:08]dozens of each and i almost said what the fuck are you guys doing i gotta know and i didn't
[44:15]every day i mean there's no way they weren't pouring the beer into the condoms right like
[44:19]they're buying dozens of those there's obviously some kind of beer
[44:21]yeah they're doing like beer water balloons and condoms you could give me a thousand guesses and
[44:32]i wouldn't have been close to saying what you just said that they were going to put beer in
[44:37]the condoms i don't know i mean what else would they be doing that's gross that sounds like an
[44:41]iowa that's really so matt you get through security and what happens what happens
[44:45]well so that so then i get on the plane so this is just me being crotchety old person now i think
[44:51]i've just got to stop i gotta i gotta not fly on a plane for a little bit is is there anything more
[44:59]annoying than the person who doesn't know like how to work the screen or work the you know just
[45:06]the person who doesn't know how to like flip the tray down or doesn't understand like when the
[45:11]people are coming by you know take you like your drink order or ask for a snack like
[45:15]take your headphones off and these people are trying to oh oh i didn't you know i didn't i
[45:19]don't know so i i got very annoyed with a lady and i felt really bad afterwards because i was in one
[45:24]of the aisles where the where the thing comes up over out of the seat you know the tray and she
[45:30]just couldn't figure it out so you know what that's normally i would agree with you but i
[45:33]have to say i have a soft spot in my heart for rookie flyers for people that like normally fly
[45:40]they're probably taking a trip let's say they fly once every five years and it's probably
[45:45]such a big deal for them that like if i get in line and you see someone they don't know to take
[45:49]their shoes off they don't know to take their computer they don't know any of it for some
[45:53]reason normally the logic part of me wants to hate that person but i try i usually find a way
[45:58]to like give them the benefit of the doubt and be like they're probably taking like an amazing trip
[46:03]that they never get to take i'm just gonna get i'm gonna be i'm gonna show them some grace and
[46:08]not judge them and their inability to to run on an airport you sit and you sit and talk to russell
[46:15]i bet you're having the trip of a lifetime you're the first time flyer what are you doing he's like
[46:18]i've been online texting some girl down in mississippi i'm flying down there to meet her
[46:22]russell's like oh my god this is the worst reason to be a rookie flyer
[46:27]so russell this is you this is why i like doing the podcast the therapeutic davenport of love
[46:34]right here you've changed my mind completely 180 i'm with you i need to be a little more
[46:39]sympathetic to these now if it like the dude who holds up the phone like you've talked about before
[46:44]is having like the phone call in the middle of the airport fuck that guy that guy knows exactly
[46:49]all right so all all of that my last wait wait real quick i've got some yeah oh you might say
[46:55]it's gold actually after you hear it but listen to this i i always tell them i am not a rookie
[47:01]flyer okay you know how they know that when i get on the plane i'm not this is not my first
[47:05]time in an airplane i'm not a rookie you know how they know that because when i'm say henry

[49:43]thinking finally get some goddamn sleep around here all right no rob rolling going how's it going
[49:51]with you okay are we being hardcore today yeah all right it's clearly listen yeah talking about
[49:57]i'm not gonna talk about this russell so don't get mad at me okay we got a lot we've got a lot
[50:01]we've got to edit out of this podcast okay including some lies about the text chain that
[50:04]some guys wanted me to say as a dare not true actually um this isn't right so i got a hemorrhage
[50:12]and then for rob to admit there's a side chain is the worst wait i mean matt and i were both sitting
[50:17]here like are we is this is it time to talk about this like do we do this on the podcast my sister
[50:21]said are you recording the podcast tonight you got to tell me what happened russell people are
[50:26]deeply invested yeah i'm sorry to let you down and you guys i'm not so sure i think i think you
[50:33]might be like i brought up a trip a bit i brought up a trip to mexico and you guys thought you had
[50:37]it you thought you had it down didn't you yeah we thought we thought maybe where this was going
[50:41]we did hey hey rob why don't you call and leave a voicemail so we can all call you a dumb shit
[50:45]because you've earned it tonight all right oh no well were you wondering why so many guys in the
[50:50]text chain russell were doing a map check-in of where were we right oh we're gonna celebrate
[50:55]cinco de mayo is anybody doing something very special for that so this is why someone this is
[51:01]why someone called me out on my uh king of diamonds and i was at the king of diamonds club
[51:06]yes everyone was everyone thought that was suspicious right when we say are you on a
[51:11]map showing a strip club i thought it was a funny joke i didn't know there was a sign it was such a
[51:18]funny joke but it also i was like devious russell really doesn't want us to know wow he's gonna get
[51:24]so engaged down there all right listen dude how do you know i got it got engaged and didn't get
[51:29]something even more committed i know that's i was that's we still think that we're actually
[51:34]texting about on the side chain right now here's the thing i have i'm not gonna talk about russell
[51:39]but i got hemorrhoids for the first time ever i got hemorrhoids for the first time ever i got
[51:41]a hemorrhoid okay i don't get what we're talking about i don't know what i did but i started seeing
[51:49]tiktoks about hemorrhoids now i can tell you normally do not want to see a tiktok normally
[51:56]do not want to see a tiktok about a hemorrhoid like that is usually at the bottom and you know
[52:01]i'm watching like big blackheads and stuff not if a hemorrhoid came on when you have hemorrhoids
[52:07]actually way worse to see tiktoks about hemorrhoids not great to be constantly
[52:11]reminded of why you're sitting in epsom salt bath okay so i say to jenny i say listen i have this
[52:19]and i think it's listening my phone is listening to me i'm like crazy phone guy now and she goes
[52:24]yeah i get those annoying ads too i was like what ads do you get also scared to ask in case it's
[52:30]like some something really bad that she has that she has not been telling me you know i mean
[52:35]she's like oh yeah all this chlamydia medication i'm like what you said that was from the
[52:41]peloton anyway she goes yeah i've been getting these ads on facebook and i wrote it down verbatim
[52:49]modeling for women over 40 i was like what way to go i was like you get ads for modeling over 40
[52:56]and i'm just getting hemorrhoid stuff like life is so not fair if you're attractive your life is
[53:04]so easy that's what i've learned my life is it sucks it sucked to begin with it sucks now guys
[53:09]gotta be attractive bro
[53:11]you're very attractive bro
[53:11]damn aaron i'm coming back i'm feeling it okay you know what i'm gonna search for modeling
[53:17]for men over 40 in new york city uh the live google search that'll bring us back from the
[53:27]brink so it took me to a site where it just says hooking that's not what i meant by models
[53:33]the old 200 uh i feel like so that was it that was the role that was my role going do you guys
[53:41]want to expand on that at all
[53:41]nope
[53:43]oh it's a music podcast i'm trying to stand around hour 30 and did you guys think i was
[53:53]gonna do a poll to see if any of you had gotten hemorrhoids because i'm not going to okay we're
[53:56]not that hardcore yeah that's yeah nope that's not that's not man put your hand put your hand
[54:00]on man all right here we go i didn't do the poll uh let's talk about the album we were talking
[54:05]about born in the usa oh my god i almost forgot that's what we're talking about uh born in the
[54:09]usa is the seventh studio album by bruce bruce
[54:11]springsteen it was released in 84 and it's uh it's kind of a departure for him from talking
[54:17]about him growing up in new jersey and all that new jersey stuff and being on the edge of town and
[54:21]how he's born to run out of that town and now talking about kind of america and heartland as a
[54:25]whole huge commercial success the album it's spent 84 weeks on the billboard 200 30 million copies
[54:31]it had seven top 10 singles i want you guys to guess right now which which one of these songs
[54:38]charted highest on the list just say it right now and i'll and i'll tell you what i think about it
[54:41]tell you when we get there my hometown dance in the dark my hometown dance in the dark russell
[54:48]i gotta go with the opener born in the usa nice uh i'll tell you when we get there musically born
[54:55]in the usa uh it's more this is what i think of when i think of 1980s rock music this was a cassette
[55:01]this was a car cassette for a long time in my life where this was one of the cassettes in the car
[55:04]so you could put it out on fire was that i'm on fire i'm gonna tell you later man i already made
[55:09]the premise we're moving forward
[55:11]you guys thought i was gonna do it i was gonna do a list and i'm going down about the best songs
[55:23]with repeated lyrics oh oh what but i didn't we've already done a list about the best songs
[55:29]about going down oh god i forgot i was like you were gonna do a list about oral sex wow
[55:35]that is hardcore then aaron's like no we did that episode four we did it in the beyonce episode
[55:41]because she's talking about skittles dang aaron you have such a good memory
[55:44]uh where does it does this immediately follow dancing in the dark or what's the album that
[55:49]precedes this no dancing nebraska no this is right after nebraska he recorded a lot of this
[55:54]when he was recording the nebraska nebraska was after this one it no nebraska's before this one
[56:01]right before but not on the list we're gonna hear it like three albums coming right up uh but this
[56:06]one grammy for best male rock vocal for dancing in the dark and a lost album of the year too
[56:11]down by who aaron lionel richie yep lionel richie oh lionel richie's no man and transfer
[56:20]did not win an actual grammy you know i would like buy that on ebay uh so let's see let's get
[56:27]into this i i'm just telling you when i hear this opener it's 80s rock yeah big time
[56:34]they mic the drum in a weird way opener of all time yeah you think so matt
[56:41]iconic oh i mean it's up there obviously everybody you know but like
[56:45]you know exactly what it is right when you hear it when you got to call your buddies about when
[56:49]you hear the opening 10 seconds right oh you'd have to possibly put this cassette in and this
[56:56]is what you heard and what's what's wild is that the intro was kind of improvised the day of and
[57:02]the drum was like mic that way randomly and made that perfect sound that you cannot think about
[57:07]anything else when you listen to the song now this got all the way up to number nine on the
[57:11]this is not the number one single russell i'm sorry it's kind of crazy isn't it how does this
[57:17]not get above nine part of the problem is listen to this the lyrics at the end of the song what
[57:22]is he saying here can you tell me he's a cool rocking daddy on the usa he's a cool rocking
[57:32]daddy on the usa is that what he's saying i mean he's got a little bit of otis redding in him where
[57:38]he just like when he gets real fired up he just says some stuff that you're like i don't know
[57:41]his words are words but it sounds good what do you think he's saying there russell i don't know
[57:46]i just know a lot of these songs are actually quite depressing but yes the songs don't sound
[57:51]depressing do they no yeah he kind of that's a lot of bruce springsteen though right you know
[57:56]right even even some of the stuff on nebraska is like really pretty songs and then you're like oh
[58:01]well we're gonna we're gonna get to that but that's why all these politicians who you have
[58:04]to admit is the most like skin shallow job you could possibly have like you just have to be fake
[58:11]the part everybody can understand born in the usa listen can't understand the rest i heard some
[58:16]stuff that was a hard rocking daddy i think that's okay and they don't realize that they're running
[58:20]for president on like a song that's about how unemployment and racism and all this terrible
[58:24]stuff happening in the usa it's like it's been happening twisted sister now where everybody you
[58:30]know we're not gonna take it and everybody all the republicans are playing that you know we're
[58:34]not gonna take this democrat you know and so then d snyder has come out and say do you understand
[58:39]what that song was like yeah that kind of a thing so it's just it's like can you can you read the
[58:45]last lyric of the song rob pulled it up can matt read the last one i'm a cool rocking daddy in the
[58:50]usa now that's literally the best lyrics i've ever heard a song that's poetry rocket daddy in the
[58:56]usa hey maya angelou you're out of here bruce springsteen you're in best poem ever he just
[59:01]blacks out sometimes and says stuff oh it's so wild you know what here's the thing he is an
[59:08]incredible live performer
[59:09]right i mean he is just giving it his all for three hours every night i mean you can't expect
[59:14]i think he just that's just the way he does it he's just shouting into the mic
[59:18]because he's playing guitar and a lot of stuff too you know he's not doing this in concert he
[59:22]is in a studio he literally said i'm a cool rocking daddy he's probably like i'll fill that
[59:26]in later and then they just this is a classic again classic a person who records music because
[59:32]they're so good live right and then there's people who do live shows because they're so good at
[59:37]recording music and bruce springsteen
[59:39]absolutely falls in the category of he is a wonderful awesome live performer and the only
[59:47]reason he's got studio albums not the only reason but his studio albums you can't capture the energy
[59:53]that he's got in his live performances which is why everybody likes him and i think it might have
[59:57]been the butt on the cover of this album man did you know that was a annie leibovitz picture
[60:01]of just his butt that was on the cover that is a famous butt i would say would you guys think
[60:05]is that a top three butt in music what are the top three
[60:09]butts in music do you think j-lo's number one i gotta say no close number one is sir makes a lot
[60:15]of what he's standing on the video that's the number one most famous butt in music history
[60:20]what's number two j-lo i would say j-lo is number two but i bruce springsteen butt is up there guys
[60:26]i was gonna say where how far do you have to get before it's an actual guy's butt no
[60:31]it feels like the top 20 would be what about i thought i thought rob used to wear prince pants
[60:36]i don't think his butt is as nice as his butt i don't think his butt is as nice as his butt
[60:39]his butt did like a hard-boiled eggs in that thing not great you're like oh princess ass this
[60:45]is gonna be hot and it's kind of like oh it's kind of like like a seal um i'm gonna show you
[60:51]one of the greatest butts in this is one of the greatest butts in human history and it is a male
[60:56]butt man just to let you know the video for faith guys get ready for this what is that what is
[61:02]spinning into our eyesight right now see but i mean excuse me aaron pretty good but aaron i was
[61:09]kind of george michael's butt is a top two butt and it ain't number two i'm gonna tell you that
[61:14]right now i'm trying to compare it to springsteen i'm not sure man oh it's a miles better than
[61:19]springsteen and it's almost up there with the sir mix-a-lot but wait wait till the music starts
[61:23]just inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame by the way classic win amp song this song so
[61:28]i never had any george michael on my win amp none watch this get ready
[61:33]oh i guess it would be nice okay i thought that was gonna be his butt but it wasn't
[61:39]all right so we're oh look at that right there do you see what that was i was thinking we had
[61:45]yet another mariah carey snow suit situation what that was look at this you know okay so
[61:48]side note rosie brought it up george michael going to the rock and roll hall of fame yep
[61:54]yeah there is a documentary out there and i think it was done by george michael
[61:57]finished in like 2017 and it's on delta so anybody's flying delta could watch it
[62:02]wonderful documentary to kind of cap encapsulate it in my beat suite who's who george michael is
[62:09]and he's the one who's doing the music for the rock and roll hall of fame a lot of people
[62:13]don't know how important he was to like record contracts you know nobody knows that what he
[62:17]we don't remember with things that he does for record contracts and you know he tried to get
[62:21]out of his because essentially a he was a slave to his contract with sony and he finally got out
[62:27]of it and stuff and so he absolutely deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame not only for
[62:31]his music but for what he did for record contracts so fast that's my aside yeah so if you see it
[62:35]rosie you should watch it i will a great crossover artist too like one of the white people who got
[62:39]out of the rock and roll hall of fame and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great
[62:41]crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist
[62:43]i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a
[62:45]great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover
[62:47]artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think
[62:49]it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great
[62:51]crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist and i think it's a great crossover artist
[62:53]you guys are not gonna believe where i bet george michaels was he on a separate text chain that the
[62:55]rest of us were not oh god oh man was it through george michael or george michael's do you guys know
[62:57]you guys are not gonna believe where i bet george michael or george michael's do you guys know there's this bathhouse okay
[63:01]there's this bathhouse okay
[63:01]there's this bathhouse okay downtown
[63:03]downtown
[63:03]downtown he and i would be there all the time
[63:04]he and i would be there all the time
[63:04]he and i would be there all the time together like a lot
[63:06]together like a lot
[63:06]together like a lot so
[63:08]so
[63:08]so do you guys watch the news like i don't
[63:10]do you guys watch the news like i don't
[63:10]do you guys watch the news like i don't know what's going on are you on the news
[63:12]know what's going on are you on the news
[63:12]know what's going on are you on the news man can you tell them why that's funny
[63:13]man can you tell them why that's funny
[63:13]man can you tell them why that's funny please
[63:15]please
[63:15]You know, sometimes when you're blowing out other people's candles, it doesn't make you shine any brighter, Rob.
[63:21]I just want to let you know.
[63:22]I don't think it's funny that somebody went to a bathhouse.
[63:23]That's just like a thing that people do.
[63:25]No, he got caught getting a hand job in there, Aaron.
[63:27]You know, back in the 80s and 90s, it wasn't so accepting.
[63:30]And these people, you know, they had to.
[63:33]Don't make my jokes sound like I was mean.
[63:34]I'm being supportive.
[63:35]I'm in there with George Michael.
[63:37]That's in the joke.
[63:38]I'm there.
[63:38]How much more of an ally can you be?
[63:40]I'm jacking him.
[63:41]Jeez.
[63:42]I loved Faith.
[63:44]I loved that video.
[63:45]All right, listen.
[63:45]I agree with you.
[63:46]The whole album's pretty good.
[63:47]Next up.
[63:48]Oh, God, we're only on song two.
[63:49]We got to go, guys.
[63:50]We're never going to make an hour 30.
[63:52]Cover Me.
[63:53]Did you say this was his top song, man?
[63:58]It's a great groove.
[64:01]It might not be the one you're talking about, Rob, but how can you not love this?
[64:05]This song, he wrote it for Donna Summers and decided to keep it for himself.
[64:12]A good call, right?
[64:14]Oh, wow.
[64:15]You can hear this with a disco beat in the back, don't you?
[64:17]Yeah, yeah, yeah, with the rhythm guitar.
[64:19]What's the deal?
[64:20]Is this the E Street Band or not?
[64:23]I don't know who's playing on the record because it's not credited to the E Street Band.
[64:27]I mean, there's a couple times where he yells to the big man.
[64:30]Yeah, no, Clarence Clemons.
[64:31]Clarence Clemons and him in that video are dancing on a globe, Aaron.
[64:35]I think it's the same band.
[64:37]It's Roy Baton, who we talked about.
[64:39]He played with Meatloaf.
[64:40]It's Clarence Clemons, Gary Talent, Steve Van Zandt, and Weinberg.
[64:44]I think it is.
[64:45]It says the album was recorded with the E Street Band.
[64:47]They also had Nils Lofgren on this album because he is coming up on a solo.
[64:52]Get ready for that little bit of a story.
[64:54]Darlington Country, County.
[64:56]Yeah, this has the guitar solo by Nils Lofgren.
[65:01]What a great segue I screwed up.
[65:03]This song also has, I think this album does a great job of putting the big band in with some sax,
[65:08]but not overdoing it, right?
[65:09]Like he comes in, hammers it for like 30 seconds, then he kind of goes away again.
[65:14]Yeah.
[65:14]Yep.
[65:14]I would say this would be the second best sax after that one that embarrassed Tom Brady.
[65:23]Okay.
[65:23]You guys know the game I'm talking about.
[65:26]All right.
[65:26]Working on that.
[65:27]I was trying to think of a historic sack and I couldn't think of one.
[65:29]Maybe when Dan Orlovsky ran out of the back of the end zone.
[65:32]It's probably be when, remember when Strahan sacked Brett Favre.
[65:36]That was such.
[65:37]And you know what?
[65:38]I trusted Brett Favre.
[65:40]Yeah.
[65:40]And I would always trust Brett Favre.
[65:42]And I would always.
[65:44]If Brett Favre asked me to.
[65:45]Yeah.
[65:46]To help his child play volleyball.
[65:48]Yeah.
[65:48]Wanted me to send him money.
[65:50]I would do it.
[65:51]Okay.
[65:52]And if he says he didn't scam it and then use that to do something else,
[65:55]I can't remember what it was.
[65:56]Oh no, wait.
[65:57]He took the money from the government.
[65:59]Go to Vegas with the million dollar man's son.
[66:01]Wouldn't the most famous sack be LT and Joe Theismann?
[66:06]That's got to be.
[66:07]Oh God.
[66:07]Aaron.
[66:08]Aaron.
[66:09]That's disgusting.
[66:10]You guys know what I'm talking about.
[66:12]What were you guys talking about earlier?
[66:14]Oh, Vincent.
[66:16]Come on.
[66:18]Come on back.
[66:18]Something Vincent.
[66:19]What was it?
[66:21]Please guys.
[66:23]Who got sacked?
[66:24]Who was yours?
[66:25]Russ?
[66:25]The big sack.
[66:26]Oh, Michael Strahan and Brett Favre.
[66:28]No joke after that.
[66:30]Okay.
[66:30]Nevermind.
[66:31]I had a Vincent Price laugh.
[66:32]I'll cute up.
[66:32]You guys know why?
[66:33]Million dollar man.
[66:34]Oh yeah.
[66:34]Everybody's got a price.
[66:36]There you go.
[66:38]Thank you, Russell.
[66:40]Thank you.
[66:42]I knew that Joe was hitting.
[66:43]I'm going to get over this finish line together.
[66:44]And then do the next one.
[66:45]Does he play Darlington County live?
[66:47]Like is Darlington County a sad song too that sounds fun?
[66:51]Yeah.
[66:51]I think they all are.
[66:52]Okay.
[66:52]Yeah.
[66:53]That was fun as shit to sing along with.
[66:56]Russell, that song did not top the Billboard charts.
[66:59]It only got it to number 25.
[67:00]Yeah.
[67:00]Technically, Aaron, I believe that song's about financial problems.
[67:03]So yeah, I don't think any of these songs are positive.
[67:06]He'd be a good person to be in a relationship with though, right?
[67:09]Like he'd come back and be like, I lost my job and I gambled all our money away and you'd
[67:13]feel good about it afterwards.
[67:15]Right.
[67:15]You'd be like, okay, well now I feel better.
[67:17]The next song is about him working on the highway.
[67:22]The next song is about him working on the highway.
[67:24]Let's see.
[67:24]Wait, no.
[67:27]This is about when he was working in the danger zone.
[67:30]Dang it.
[67:31]I got it screwed up.
[67:32]I mean, different artist.
[67:34]Well, no, it is about the highway though.
[67:35]It's just going to the danger zone.
[67:36]This was, this was on episode three, Bob Dylan, best songs about highways.
[67:40]That's when I still put the effort.
[67:43]Yeah.
[67:43]I did read somewhere that he has all these songs about like blue collar workers and he's
[67:49]never had a real job other than singing in his life.
[67:52]That's kind of funny, isn't it?
[67:53]Yeah.
[67:54]He's been an artist.
[67:55]I mean, he's been a rock and roller since what he was like 16, 17 playing in a bar band
[67:59]and somehow he's able to capture the zeitgeist, the feeling.
[68:04]Rosie, you asked if Darlington County's played in concert and it's been played 404 times
[68:11]by Bruce in concert.
[68:13]Wow.
[68:13]Okay.
[68:13]And it's been played five times this year.
[68:15]Okay.
[68:15]In the 2023.
[68:16]So full disclosure, we have tickets to see him in December at the chase.
[68:21]So I'm just, I'm just trying to get fired up.
[68:23]I'm trying to get fired up.
[68:24]Halfway through the album?
[68:24]I said it once already.
[68:26]You didn't hear me.
[68:26]Oh, oh no.
[68:28]I'm so sorry.
[68:28]1984, he played it 62 times.
[68:30]Um, listen, working on the highway.
[68:33]It's about a guy who works on the highway.
[68:35]I love the rockabilly kind of thing.
[68:38]Yep.
[68:38]So it's a good title.
[68:41]So it's a good title for the song then?
[68:43]I mean, to me, a song about working on the highway, what else are you going to call it?
[68:47]But here's the thing, man.
[68:49]You know what I don't get?
[68:49]I drive high on the highway and yet I park on the flyby.
[68:54]Hmm.
[68:54]Okay.
[68:55]I screwed up that joke somewhere.
[68:56]All right.
[68:57]Next one.
[68:57]We also forgot to mention that the first song was the titular track, didn't we?
[69:03]Oh, right.
[69:03]Gosh.
[69:03]The titular track right away.
[69:05]That's just like how I met my wife.
[69:06]Yeah.
[69:07]That last song, that last song, deceptively upbeat about working on a chain gang.
[69:11]It's never like...
[69:13]Who's ever been excited to work on a chain gang?
[69:15]The fucking boss is, right?
[69:16]What are we doing here?
[69:17]Bruce?
[69:18]It's amazing.
[69:19]I look terrible in horizontal stripes.
[69:22]I could not be on a chain gang.
[69:23]You couldn't.
[69:23]Couldn't do it.
[69:24]Oh.
[69:25]And the hat?
[69:26]Can you imagine how hot it would be, Rob?
[69:27]Oh.
[69:29]And you're just doing that, what a chain gang does?
[69:32]And I know what they do.
[69:33]Okay?
[69:33]To me, it's not...
[69:34]I know it's not making chain.
[69:35]It's not whatever he was doing in Big Wheel Keep on Turning where he said he'd pop a lot
[69:40]of chain in Memphis.
[69:41]Is that what he was doing?
[69:43]Mm-hmm.
[69:44]Does anybody know what that means in those lyrics?
[69:46]I pop a lot of chain in Memphis.
[69:48]I assume he's making chain, right?
[69:49]I don't know.
[69:51]Is it popping a lot of...
[69:53]Guys, I just...
[69:55]If I'm singing along to Proud Mary, I'm full on making up the lyrics, man.
[69:58]I don't know.
[69:59]I mean, I don't know what any of those lyrics are, but I will happily sing along.
[70:02]Listen to the lyrics now.
[70:03]Downbound train.
[70:04]Russell, you might ask yourself, is this song a bummer?
[70:06]Is this song going to...
[70:08]Bruce, are you going to bum us out with this one?
[70:09]Yeah, he is.
[70:10]The opening line is,
[70:11]he works at a car wash where it always runs.
[70:13]Rains.
[70:13]That's some real Linus-type stuff.
[70:17]I think he says in this one,
[70:22]I once had a job, I once had a girl,
[70:24]then everything goes south.
[70:25]It's crazy.
[70:28]Can you imagine working in a car wash where it's always raining?
[70:30]Nobody...
[70:31]Who gets their car washed in the rain?
[70:32]Even if you have one of those coupons where you can do so many a month,
[70:37]you can do it for free.
[70:37]You can go right in there.
[70:38]You're still not going to.
[70:39]Matt, you got one of those coupons, don't you, Matt?
[70:41]Well, I've been doing the organ on this.
[70:43]And the lyric is,
[70:46]I pumped a lot of tane, T-A-N-E,
[70:49]which is short for octane.
[70:50]Yes, I bet he did, that dog.
[70:51]Octane.
[70:51]Pumping that tane.
[70:53]Ow, ow, ow.
[70:54]Down in New Orleans, so pumping a lot of gas.
[70:57]Yeah, making that tane speak to you.
[70:58]Nothing about working on a chain chain.
[71:01]Part of the song was about getting laid off from a job.
[71:04]I was curious, have you guys ever been fired or laid off from a job before?
[71:07]No.
[71:09]Don't make people say this out loud now.
[71:11]The recession is like, oh, geez.
[71:13]The U.S. government is going to run out of money in a month.
[71:15]Let's just ask anybody if they've ever laid off before.
[71:17]You didn't hear us earlier.
[71:18]We're no longer part of the U.S.
[71:20]We are sovereign citizens of Britain.
[71:22]We pledge allegiance to the king.
[71:25]My liege.
[71:25]We don't have to worry about these things in the colonies, Aaron.
[71:29]Man, don't jinx anybody here.
[71:31]It's Royal Coronation Day.
[71:32]Yeah, yeah.
[71:33]Everything's fine.
[71:35]We all took a day off from our jobs that are fine.
[71:37]And we've never gotten fired from.
[71:39]What'd you get fired from, Aaron?
[71:40]I never have.
[71:41]I didn't want to say that out loud.
[71:43]Wow.
[71:43]I assumed you got fired from Walmart.
[71:46]I don't know why, but I've always had that assumption in my head.
[71:49]That would have been a really good story.
[71:51]You were like, you know what?
[71:51]Unfortunately.
[71:52]We would have more power if we stood together.
[71:57]What would we call that?
[71:59]That perfect combination of people to come together like fingers into a fist
[72:03]and strike a blow against the tyranny of corporations.
[72:06]Why, it would be the perfect union,
[72:10]just like my friend Russell saw the head of.
[72:13]What do you want?
[72:13]He went to Ford's Theater before he went to Mexico on a secret trip.
[72:16]Do you guys remember that when Aaron did work at Walmart,
[72:19]he used to sub in for the greeter named Ernest?
[72:22]That's right.
[72:23]Don't make me say it again.
[72:25]Ernest was my guy.
[72:27]Listen, I'm just going to say it because I'm afraid accents now are going to get me canceled.
[72:30]Do you know what I mean, Vern?
[72:32]Okay?
[72:34]I'm not going to do the Ernest accent.
[72:36]Can't get canceled for the Ernest accent.
[72:38]Ew.
[72:43]By the way, one of the trailer moments in the movie is him going,
[72:47]ew.
[72:47]They're like, this part of the movie is so good.
[72:51]We got to put it in the trailer.
[72:52]And I watched that trailer and I was like, damn, Bob.
[72:55]I know my mom took me to the theater.
[72:57]Oh my God.
[72:58]I just had a core memory unlocked.
[72:59]I know my mom took me to see Ernest goes to camp in the theater.
[73:03]If my kid made me go see Ernest in the theater,
[73:06]I would find that hammer guy.
[73:09]I would hire him.
[73:09]Put me out.
[73:10]Let's go.
[73:10]I wish our listeners could see when Rob is,
[73:13]hovering over the soundboard about to play the next song.
[73:15]And he will not,
[73:16]he won't play the next song because he's kind of really just core memories.
[73:20]I had a core memory unlocked the other day.
[73:23]You want to know what it was?
[73:24]Yes.
[73:24]Yeah.
[73:25]That Frank,
[73:25]that Frank Thomas and Jeff Bagwell were,
[73:28]had the same birthday.
[73:29]How do I know that?
[73:31]How do I know that?
[73:33]Is it possible?
[73:35]That's incredible.
[73:35]That's a good one.
[73:36]That you were in Applebee's.
[73:37]And on one side,
[73:38]you wouldn't believe who's sitting at that table.
[73:40]It's Frank Thomas.
[73:41]And you wouldn't believe who's sitting at that table.
[73:43]You won't believe.
[73:43]You guys won't believe who's sitting at the table on the other side of us.
[73:46]It's Jeff Bagwell.
[73:47]Yeah.
[73:48]We were in Mexico.
[73:48]And all of a sudden they come out.
[73:50]You made that up?
[73:52]He's in Mexico?
[73:52]They come out.
[73:53]They have two flaming desserts.
[73:57]And they are singing happy,
[73:58]happy birthday.
[73:59]We happy,
[74:00]happy too.
[74:00]Let's say happy.
[74:01]And half the restaurant said Jeff Bagwell.
[74:03]And half the restaurant said Frank Thomas.
[74:04]And then Frank Thomas was like,
[74:10]Hey,
[74:11]do you guys want to do like steroids?
[74:13]Do you want to do like steroids?
[74:13]But they're not really steroids.
[74:14]They'll get you so hard.
[74:15]I'm going to advertise that for the rest of my life.
[74:18]I'm Frank Thomas for dry eugenics.
[74:21]What does he sell?
[74:22]It is kind of,
[74:23]it is kind of weird.
[74:24]They're like,
[74:24]Hey,
[74:25]I,
[74:25]I,
[74:26]I mash in the steroid era,
[74:28]but I didn't use them.
[74:29]And I'm a hall of famer,
[74:30]but now I'm promoting performance enhancing drugs.
[74:32]It's weird,
[74:33]right?
[74:33]Yeah.
[74:33]It's strange.
[74:34]That's like my Pete Rose gambling app.
[74:36]I have on my phone.
[74:37]It's terrible.
[74:37]It's not well run.
[74:43]That's one hit.
[74:43]He didn't get all right.
[74:45]I'm on fire.
[74:46]God,
[74:48]I love this song.
[74:49]This is a great song.
[74:53]And so it's a really short song,
[74:55]right?
[74:55]Two 40.
[74:56]Yep.
[74:56]You got me.
[74:57]You got me on a kick.
[74:59]Now I'm looking at all the,
[75:00]you know,
[75:00]how many times he's played it in concert.
[75:02]So he's played it 293 times,
[75:04]but it's been played 1,761 times by other artists,
[75:08]mostly by Mumford and sons,
[75:11]94 times.
[75:13]Soccer mom.
[75:13]He's 68.
[75:14]And then,
[75:14]you know this.
[75:15]So there's a lot of people that have covered this song.
[75:17]Do you think that I've heard it now?
[75:19]He still says little girl like,
[75:22]because he uses little girl and uncomfortable number of times on this album,
[75:25]right?
[75:26]Do you think he's changed that at all?
[75:27]We're going to find out.
[75:29]I don't know.
[75:31]Hey,
[75:31]Aaron,
[75:31]wait,
[75:31]a lead in said,
[75:32]wait,
[75:32]wait,
[75:33]a lead into some high comedic,
[75:34]high comedic bits.
[75:36]Yeah,
[75:37]this is,
[75:37]this is a new blast to the orchard.
[75:40]It's right for picking.
[75:41]Let's go through this and pick out all the jokes.
[75:43]We can tell you one that a joke that I made.
[75:47]And I think it's really close.
[75:48]Oh,
[75:49]and that is that I bet Leonardo DiCaprio goes to this concert and that's what he's got.
[75:53]His noise canceling headphones is him saying little girl.
[75:55]And he's like,
[75:55]Hmm,
[75:56]that's actually pretty smart.
[75:57]No,
[75:58]the show should have an arc,
[75:59]right?
[75:59]You can't,
[75:59]people can't just be laughing their asses off the whole time.
[76:02]They're laughing their ass off the whole time.
[76:05]No surrender.
[76:13]All these songs are fun,
[76:14]aren't they?
[76:15]Yes.
[76:15]They're anthems,
[76:16]right?
[76:16]Just like he,
[76:17]he did not want to include this song and Stevie Vanzant made him,
[76:21]but I could see happening.
[76:23]It's scary.
[76:24]I mean,
[76:25]it's crazy that like another album of this time would have had like two major anthems on it.
[76:30]And this thing is like no surrenders is like a,
[76:32]it's like a deep cut on this album.
[76:34]Couldn't imagine him singing this album anywhere,
[76:36]but a giant stadium,
[76:37]right?
[76:38]You could not go to a club and hear born in the USA.
[76:41]You need to hear that.
[76:42]Well,
[76:42]that'd be fun.
[76:42]In the top balcony of us bank field.
[76:46]Okay.
[76:47]You're saving some bucks and getting up there.
[76:49]Sure.
[76:49]It's going to be fine.
[76:50]They got to figure it out.
[76:51]They said next up.
[76:52]Okay.
[76:53]Just like when a cop is going casual Friday in Britain.
[76:55]Oh,
[76:56]I nailed this one.
[76:57]Bobby Jean.
[76:58]Thank you,
[77:01]Aaron.
[77:02]This is a goodbye to Steven Vanzant,
[77:07]who was quitting the band after this.
[77:09]He said,
[77:11]I don't know.
[77:11]I got to go do this show.
[77:12]I don't know.
[77:12]HBO. You know what I think?
[77:14]When I hear this music, I think of Heartland
[77:16]Rock. And I start thinking of
[77:18]all these artists that we used to hear in the 80s
[77:21]and the early 90s.
[77:22]It was all these songs about Americana,
[77:24]that straightforward music.
[77:26]And so I started thinking, we can do a list
[77:28]about the greatest Heartland Rock songs
[77:31]of all time.
[77:31]Wow.
[77:32]Oh, wow. You know who didn't have the
[77:36]greatest Heartland? It was Elvis.
[77:38]Came out on the toilet.
[77:40]At the worst time.
[77:41]Yeah, the worst Heartland.
[77:43]Oh, baby, my Heartland's
[77:45]not so good, baby.
[77:47]We need a lot of deep fried sandwiches, baby.
[77:49]So Heartland Rock developed in the
[77:51]70s, peaks in the 80s. This is kind of
[77:53]considered like the peak of Heartland Rock, right?
[77:55]Okay, Russell,
[77:57]can I ask a question?
[77:58]A clarifying question. Do you mind
[78:01]if we bring up songs that we think you might
[78:03]have either left off?
[78:05]Yeah, you should, 100%.
[78:06]I can only do
[78:09]five. I know you can only do five,
[78:11]but there's like a couple
[78:12]really good ones for this, and I'm not looking ahead.
[78:15]I'm just, I'm going to wait.
[78:16]Do you want me to say some songs, Matt, who just texted on another chain?
[78:18]Hey, and I'll say those songs, too.
[78:20]And then, Matt, was Heartland Restaurant still
[78:22]open? They used to be in
[78:23]St. Paul, and then they moved to downtown
[78:26]Minneapolis.
[78:26]No. This is just the breaks.
[78:29]I do think it's just to see Rob's face.
[78:32]Even I
[78:32]think this is too far of a tangent.
[78:35]I do these things just to see Rob's face. All right,
[78:37]Russell. All right, first song on the list is from
[78:39]1976. This was his breakthrough.
[78:41]This is Bob Seger, Night Moves.
[78:43]Oh, my God. Such a good song. I love
[78:45]this song.
[78:46]Now, Matt, you might want to do
[78:49]a lyric lookup on this one, too.
[78:51]High points all on our own. That's what I remember
[78:53]from this, and it always, it was one of the few
[78:55]songs that was erotic to me.
[78:57]This song was very erotic to me, because of the
[78:59]high points, I was like, oh, that's just
[79:01]what I'm looking for in a woman.
[79:02]He actually said tempo was influenced
[79:05]by the song Jungle Land
[79:07]by Springsteen, and some of the lyrics were influenced
[79:09]by him. Piano player Roy
[79:11]Baton, the same guy who played with the E Street
[79:13]Band and The Boss.
[79:14]That's a piano player on this song?
[79:17]Yeah. This is such good piano.
[79:19]Oh, it's so good.
[79:20]What lyrics are you looking for, Rob?
[79:23]I have a little licks in there. It's like Steve Cropper.
[79:25]She had high points all on her own. It's right in the beginning
[79:27]of the song. I was a
[79:29]boy. Could have used a few pounds.
[79:31]Night Moves moving all around.
[79:35]Tight pants points, hardly renowned.
[79:37]What? She was a black-haired
[79:39]beauty with big dark
[79:41]eyes.
[79:41]Yes. Now this points of her own
[79:43]sitting way up high. Yes, that is a hot
[79:45]lyric, is it not? High
[79:47]points? Yeah.
[79:49]Sitting way up high.
[79:51]Nobody wants to know what Rob just did
[79:53]with his fingers. No, no.
[79:55]That's another one that
[79:56]when we're on YouTube, that's really going to be a lot better.
[79:59]I better bookmark
[80:01]that site as well. I have more to look
[80:03]into. All right.
[80:04]Next song on the list. I love that song. It's from
[80:07]1977. This is a mad favorite.
[80:09]This is Tom Petty. The song is a
[80:11]American Girl.
[80:12]Oh, I'm glad you put Petty.
[80:15]I think
[80:19]Petty is like a top five
[80:21]rock and roll Americana
[80:23]artist, right?
[80:25]I think you're right. You throw him up there as Springsteen
[80:27]and Seager. Wouldn't he be number two behind
[80:29]Springsteen? If you're talking about Heartland Rock,
[80:31]it's him and Springsteen to me. I've wanted
[80:33]to do something for a long time. We're going to all
[80:35]sing the background part that goes,
[80:36]makes it last all night, that you cannot not sing
[80:39]when you hear this song, right? You are always
[80:41]singing the background. Nobody sings the Tom Petty part.
[80:43]Are we singing it in the Tom Petty
[80:45]Crypt Keeper voice or regular voice? No, we're just
[80:47]singing it together. Don't
[80:49]rustle. Are you trying to get me distracted?
[80:51]Please. I'm sorry. Apologize. Focus.
[80:53]Are you going to cut us all together so that
[80:55]we all are singing this together?
[80:56]Yes, I promise I'll do that.
[80:58]All right. Let's do Will Last All Night. Here we go.
[81:01]Make it last all night. You know
[81:03]it's the background. Are we doing it individually
[81:05]though? Here it comes. No, all at once.
[81:06]Here it comes.
[81:11]Nailed it.
[81:12]We really are friends. I think you guys
[81:15]are right though. I think I was reading that
[81:17]it's Springsteen and Tom Petty
[81:19]that are really credited with like keeping
[81:21]older rock and roll alive like when
[81:23]disco and punk and glam rock and all that
[81:25]really became prominent, right?
[81:27]These guys kind of kept that type of music popular.
[81:29]That's my understanding.
[81:31]Yeah, like suit and tie
[81:33]rock and roll.
[81:34]Questlove said that about Too Short one time. He was like
[81:37]Too Short's like a suit and tie rapper. Like he just did
[81:39]his thing and never changed. Yeah,
[81:41]yes, Aaron. Damn, you're so smart.
[81:43]I love it. Bruce Springsteen
[81:45]said when Tom Petty died, he said
[81:47]he always envied the guitar band
[81:49]with Tom Petty. We tried to push
[81:51]the guitars with the E Street band, but it never quite
[81:53]worked with us. They were a real guitar band.
[81:55]The music was beautifully written and beautifully
[81:57]constructed. He had an ear for the classics,
[81:59]but Tom's attitude
[82:01]and personality, his vision gave it a modern
[82:03]edge. But there was kind of a cool
[82:05]homage to Tom Petty, right?
[82:06]Can you think of a time where Tom Petty was modern?
[82:09]Can you think of a single time in your life where you were like,
[82:11]I'm the Crypt Keeper!
[82:12]I'm the Crypt Keeper!
[82:14]That's what the Crypt Keeper
[82:17]would say to Russell. You nailed it.
[82:19]You've been thinking of bits. I think I'm
[82:21]confusing the Crypt Keeper and the Leprechaun.
[82:23]Possibly. No, I'll give you a hint.
[82:27]One of them was in the hood.
[82:28]It's like how the Big Bopper voice and the Elvis voice
[82:31]tend to work
[82:33]together. Alright, you know what?
[82:35]I'm going to say when his
[82:37]Wildflowers album came out,
[82:39]that was good.
[82:41]That was a pretty modern
[82:43]album for the time, I think.
[82:45]But it was kind of a throwback, too, at the same time, right?
[82:46]I love that album. I do.
[82:49]I love that whole thing. It's one of my favorites.
[82:51]Woohoo! It's me!
[82:53]It's me, the Crypt Keeper!
[82:55]Russell, it's me, the Crypt Keeper. You might think
[82:57]I'm Leprechaun. Well, instead of a pot
[82:59]of gold, it's a pot of dye because
[83:01]you're getting old.
[83:02]That one hits too close.
[83:05]We're at 128.
[83:06]Next song on the list is from
[83:07]1984. This is one of our favorite
[83:10]Canucks.
[83:11]Brian Adams, December of 69.
[83:13]This is Heartland Rock, right?
[83:14]I hate it when people have one guy's and then two guy's names.
[83:17]You don't like it.
[83:18]Brian Adams.
[83:19]People with two first names, you can't trust them.
[83:22]You just can't trust them.
[83:24]Brian Adams doesn't have two first names.
[83:27]He's got two.
[83:28]He's got a first name name, and then the last
[83:31]name is two guys.
[83:32]Because it's Brian Adams.
[83:35]Nobody's named Adams, so it's not two first names.
[83:37]So it's really three guys.
[83:39]Yeah, it's three guys.
[83:41]Two away from a burger chain.
[83:42]Okay, Brian Adams, here we go.
[83:43]Let's see, that was a good joke.
[83:48]Thank you.
[83:49]I think I bought this on my cassette.
[83:51]Yes, you should have.
[83:53]Aaron's like, God damn, I missed the summer of 69.
[83:57]Let me tell you guys about when I had to sing
[84:01]Everything I Do, I Do It For You at a wedding.
[84:03]That was a Robin Hood song.
[84:05]Yes.
[84:05]That's actually pretty, I like it.
[84:08]How have you not said Aaron?
[84:10]Guess what?
[84:11]You're actually going to jail for not telling us
[84:13]this earlier.
[84:13]This should have been podcast episode one.
[84:15]Did you have to sing the whole thing where you
[84:17]got really into that high point?
[84:20]Yeah, Aaron, before you tell it.
[84:22]You know what's true?
[84:23]Look into my eyes.
[84:25]You see what you mean to me.
[84:33]All right, so this was Search Your Heart,
[84:37]Search Your Soul.
[84:39]Search Your Soul.
[84:41]Find me there.
[84:43]You'll search no more.
[84:47]It was on the same, yeah, this was on the same album.
[84:50]Don't tell me it's not worth trying for me.
[84:56]I mean, this is hard to say.
[84:57]Was it 627?
[84:59]That's a long list.
[85:00]Who didn't fumble with a bra listening to this song?
[85:02]You know what I mean?
[85:03]This is an ultimate bra fumbler song.
[85:06]It's a bra fumbler.
[85:07]When this song was out, bras were a huge mystery.
[85:11]There's hooks, there's loops, but it's not Velcro.
[85:13]Why don't they just make it Velcro?
[85:14]It'd be so much easier.
[85:16]And you're like, wait, you're like, wait, I almost got it.
[85:19]I almost got it.
[85:20]I almost got it.
[85:21]We gotta get bra fumbler trending on some sort of book face or something.
[85:29]You know you're a bra fumbler when you say, can I just go up?
[85:32]Like, can you just, like we're taking off a uniform at the end of a game.
[85:35]With the bra up.
[85:38]What would happen if we just Google bra fumbler?
[85:41]Oh my God.
[85:42]The number one person is Mark Sanchez.
[85:44]Did you mean bra tumbler?
[85:47]No, I meant bra fumbler.
[85:48]Right, bra tumbler.
[85:49]Wait a minute.
[85:49]Yeah, I did not do, I did not do a good job singing this,
[85:53]but I sang it with a cassette accompaniment.
[85:55]And this was at a wedding of,
[85:57]this wedding was the summer after I graduated high school.
[86:00]Summer of 69.
[86:00]The groom was a year older than me.
[86:03]The bride was a year younger than I.
[86:06]No.
[86:06]So this was one of those like.
[86:08]Are they still together?
[86:09]I believe so.
[86:11]We met at the port-a-potty at the gas station on route 61.
[86:14]They've been in love ever since.
[86:15]I had to give permission to let the young lady get married,
[86:20]but I think they might still be married.
[86:21]And Aaron supported it.
[86:22]I probably have like six kids.
[86:23]Child brides.
[86:24]Child brides.
[86:25]Aaron's like, hey, can I perform at this wedding of a child bride?
[86:27]Do very well.
[86:28]Please sing this song.
[86:29]Hey, Aaron, do you have like a spreadsheet where you go back
[86:32]and you keep track of like the marital success of the weddings you sang at?
[86:35]No, I don't.
[86:37]I don't.
[86:37]No, I've never done that.
[86:40]No, that's fine.
[86:40]That's a good.
[86:41]That'd be an interesting exercise.
[86:42]I don't know.
[86:43]There's one that I'm never sure.
[86:44]There's at least at least one where I'm never sure how it's going.
[86:47]Depends on how the dog's doing that particular night.
[86:49]Aaron, not great.
[86:50]Well, too bad Aaron was on the secret sheet.
[86:53]You won't get invited to Mexico.
[86:55]If that was an Excel spreadsheet, Aaron, I would color it in with the light red right now.
[86:59]It's getting close.
[87:00]It's getting close.
[87:02]Trending.
[87:02]Yeah.
[87:03]You shouldn't use red in case people are colorblind.
[87:05]You should use a different color.
[87:06]Conditional foreboding, Rob.
[87:08]Okay, I'll use green.
[87:09]Easy.
[87:10]The next song on the list is from 1985.
[87:13]This guy was called the poor man Springsteen.
[87:16]It's John Mellencamp.
[87:17]There were a lot of songs to pick from, but I picked my favorite.
[87:20]I picked Small Town.
[87:21]Wait a minute.
[87:23]Do I have Small Town?
[87:23]I don't think I have it.
[87:24]Oh, fuck.
[87:25]Who cares then?
[87:26]No.
[87:26]No.
[87:26]That was the one that I was going to say.
[87:30]What one did I give you, Rob?
[87:31]I started looking, Diane.
[87:31]No, I don't know.
[87:34]I didn't do anything.
[87:35]I didn't have any.
[87:37]Yeah, I didn't see it on your list, Russell.
[87:38]I was going to say, boy, anything by.
[87:40]The Mellencamp.
[87:41]Russell, you know what it is?
[87:42]I was looking for John Cougar Mellencamp.
[87:44]That's my bad.
[87:46]And I was looking for John Cougar after that.
[87:48]You know what I mean?
[87:51]Or Cougar Mellencamp?
[87:51]No, not John Mellencamp.
[87:53]I was looking for John Cougar.
[87:55]Dang it.
[87:55]Man, I checked the Gmail.
[87:57]I did send it to Rob.
[87:58]He must have been too busy on the side chain.
[88:02]There was like a 1988 NBA highlight video.
[88:06]And this was with Larry Bird.
[88:10]Yeah, right.
[88:11]Awesome.
[88:13]This is such a good song, Russell.
[88:15]This is so good.
[88:16]What Mellencamp song would you guys have picked?
[88:19]I would have picked this one, but he's got like 17,000 of them.
[88:23]Pink Houses, Rockin' the USA, Jack and Diane, right?
[88:26]Jack and Diane.
[88:27]Can I tell you my favorite?
[88:28]And can I tell you my favorite song?
[88:31]Suckin' on a chili dog.
[88:33]Outside the taste of freeze.
[88:36]I've always wondered which one of them was Suckin' the Chili Dog, though.
[88:38]Can I show you my favorite song?
[88:40]Yeah.
[88:40]And you're going to guess why I love this video so much.
[88:43]Now, this video came out in 94.
[88:45]That's a better butt.
[88:46]Rob is 14.
[88:47]Okay, so I just want you to picture.
[88:49]Why would Rob be into this video when he's 14?
[88:50]This is John Cougar Mellencamp and Michelle DiCello.
[88:53]Wild.
[88:54]Right there.
[88:55]That, I would say, is a top five butt in my...
[88:58]That was a core memory we just unlocked.
[89:00]And guess who it is?
[89:01]Frank Thomas.
[89:02]It is...
[89:03]Jeff Bagwell.
[89:07]No.
[89:09]I'm going to pass.
[89:10]No, Russell.
[89:10]Jeff Paper Bagwell.
[89:12]Back, back, back, back, back, back, back.
[89:14]Go on.
[89:15]Please don't do this to me.
[89:18]I might die.
[89:19]Please.
[89:21]At mercy, Russell.
[89:22]Don't say Frank Thomas.
[89:24]He's got hemorrhoids.
[89:25]You can't make him laugh this hard.
[89:27]Don't say Frank Thomas out of the blue anymore.
[89:28]Don't do that.
[89:30]When I say somebody's name, especially whose underwear I just saw in a video,
[89:34]and you say Frank Thomas, this is another RuPaul situation.
[89:37]This is a RuPaul love shack.
[89:40]This is a RuPaul love shack situation.
[89:40]Oh, my gosh.
[89:42]All right.
[89:43]So, it is...
[89:45]It is the teacher from Billy Madison, I think.
[89:50]Yeah.
[89:50]That Veronica Vaughn.
[89:51]That Veronica Vaughn.
[89:53]It is Veronica Vaughn getting dressed to a rockin' song.
[89:56]Therefore, that is my favorite John P. Mellencamp song.
[90:01]Also, Veronica Vaughn, I believe, was married to Pete Sampras.
[90:04]Look at me, Mr. Sports Guy today.
[90:06]I did read that he was younger than Springsteen,
[90:09]and Mellencamp was really influential.
[90:10]He was influenced by him, obviously, right?
[90:11]And he said, Springsteen put down a big footprint,
[90:14]and he said, here, fill it in.
[90:15]So, that was what he was always trying to do,
[90:17]is follow after the boss, right?
[90:19]And they actually played together.
[90:20]They closed out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony
[90:23]a few years together.
[90:23]They played together.
[90:24]I think it was one of the first times they'd ever played together.
[90:27]So, that's pretty cool, too.
[90:28]Wow.
[90:29]And actually, I think he just recorded a new album,
[90:32]and the boss played three songs with him on Mellencamp's new album.
[90:35]By the way, Mellencamp, 70 years old.
[90:37]That's fucking old.
[90:38]70 years old.
[90:39]I'm going to ask you a question.
[90:40]That was the boss.
[90:41]Are any of John Mellencamp's new songs about getting chasms?
[90:46]Because that's what I'm here for.
[90:47]When I'm listening to old guys sing,
[90:49]I also want to be thinking about them,
[90:51]thinking about orgasms.
[90:52]Yes.
[90:53]Chasms.
[90:54]Listen, old guy orgasms.
[90:55]You know they're coming.
[90:56]You don't want to think about it right now.
[90:57]Springsteen is 73.
[90:58]Nice.
[91:00]It's old Bruce's.
[91:01]All right, last song on my list is
[91:03]the first significant female artist
[91:06]to be in the heartland rock genre.
[91:08]It's Melissa Etheridge.
[91:10]And my favorite song of hers is
[91:11]Come to My Window.
[91:12]So that's the one I pick.
[91:13]This song rocks.
[91:14]You know who she's married to?
[91:18]Who?
[91:19]It is...
[91:23]Definitely not.
[91:24]The Big Hurt?
[91:25]Who played La Bamba?
[91:26]Richie Valens?
[91:28]Lou Diamond Phillips?
[91:29]Lou Diamond Phillips' ex-wife
[91:31]left him to marry Melissa Etheridge.
[91:33]She's a pretty rockin'...
[91:35]Hard to argue.
[91:37]She's badass.
[91:37]Yeah, I would be like,
[91:39]what, no Young Guns 3?
[91:41]See ya.
[91:42]I was reading,
[91:43]she grew up in Kansas
[91:44]and was listening to this rock and roll station
[91:46]and she heard Born to Run
[91:47]came on the radio and she said,
[91:49]this was it.
[91:49]This was the moment I got hooked on music.
[91:51]And she said,
[91:52]Bruce Springsteen is the artist she wanted to be.
[91:54]She wanted to write songs that make people feel
[91:57]the way that Springsteen made her feel.
[91:59]And so she actually performed
[92:00]at the Kennedy Center Honors,
[92:02]did a Springsteen song.
[92:03]And I don't know if you guys remember this.
[92:04]I actually gave the song to Rob.
[92:06]She did Thunder Road with Springsteen
[92:08]on MTV.
[92:09]TV Unplugged and talked about
[92:10]how big Springsteen was an influence on her.
[92:12]And then just listen to this song.
[92:14]It almost gives you chills.
[92:15]It's really cool.
[92:15]That's beautiful, isn't it?
[92:21]That's right.
[92:22]Great song.
[92:25]So those were what I had
[92:28]for the all-time Heartland Rock songs.
[92:30]Matt, what did I miss?
[92:31]No, you didn't.
[92:33]I didn't think you had
[92:35]Mellencamp on the list.
[92:37]And I was going to say,
[92:38]if you don't have small town,
[92:39]and or Jack and Diane,
[92:41]I mean, those are like
[92:41]the quintessential, I think,
[92:43]80s, small town,
[92:46]Heartland America songs.
[92:47]I would have put Rush on there, probably.
[92:49]That's just me.
[92:50]Listen, Russell.
[92:53]You know what?
[92:54]Are we talking more about sax?
[92:56]Yeah, Russell,
[92:57]what was that last song called?
[92:58]Thunder Road?
[92:59]I liked that when Garth Brooks did it.
[93:02]Thunder Road.
[93:04]Thunder Road.
[93:07]Next one.
[93:09]I'm going down.
[93:10]This got up to number nine on the charts.
[93:16]Only Russell.
[93:17]Not one of his top songs.
[93:18]Not a parody song tonight.
[93:19]You guys were shocked by that, I know.
[93:21]He only sings this, Matt.
[93:23]Speaking of set list,
[93:23]look this one up.
[93:24]He only sings this in 7% of his set list.
[93:26]This is a one in 10 chance.
[93:28]This is like winning the lotto
[93:29]to hear the song live.
[93:30]Vampire Weekend is saying it in concert 38 times.
[93:35]I don't know if I'd like to hear it, but I think it'd be good.
[93:38]I'd like it.
[93:39]Trampled by Turtles have sung it in concert three times.
[93:43]Next.
[93:43]They're going to have a concert, aren't they?
[93:45]Ah, Duluth.
[93:46]What?
[93:46]Glory Days.
[93:47]Is this it?
[93:48]The number one?
[93:49]Number five.
[93:50]Not the number one single off the song.
[93:53]Wow.
[93:53]I...
[93:55]This is a good video.
[93:56]Great video.
[93:57]I wish to enjoy this song a lot more.
[93:58]Like in my 30s,
[94:00]even my late 20s, it felt fun to listen to Glory Days.
[94:04]It's kind of sad now.
[94:05]Glory Days?
[94:05]Yeah.
[94:06]Yeah.
[94:07]It gets a little real now, doesn't it?
[94:09]Yeah.
[94:09]Oh, yeah, it does.
[94:10]You're like, I've never, like every day I get older, slower, fatter, dumber.
[94:15]The song gets more and more depressing.
[94:19]It's like, ah, you meet your old baseball buddy, great.
[94:21]Well, then you meet the gal who used to be really hot and she's divorced, and okay, great.
[94:25]And then, oh, well, but jeez, my dad got fired from the, oh, man.
[94:28]Do you guys have a bar in your head that you think about when you hear this song?
[94:31]Because I do.
[94:32]I 100% have a bar that I'm walking out of when my friend walks in.
[94:36]Yeah, for me, it's Westerns in Minneapolis.
[94:39]But it's not there anymore.
[94:40]So there you go.
[94:41]Glory Days.
[94:42]You know what it is for me?
[94:43]It's Roosters.
[94:44]And I swear to God, it is Roosters.
[94:49]For me, it'd probably be getting, it'd be getting nachos and two-for-ones at Houlihan's.
[94:53]Oh, that's a good one, too.
[94:55]Those are my bar Glory Days.
[94:57]Oh, yeah, that's true.
[94:59]Next up, an album that almost didn't make the cut.
[95:03]Springsteen thought it was way too pop for the album, but it turned out to be his highest
[95:07]charting single on the album.
[95:09]This is it.
[95:10]It's "Dancing in the Dark."
[95:11]"Dancing in the Dark."
[95:12]It's probably because this synth, there's like, this is like, feels more like a techno song,
[95:16]right?
[95:17]There's a synthesizer on it.
[95:18]Yeah.
[95:19]I bet that's why it is.
[95:22]I think he wrote this one with a drum machine and then re-recorded it, but this is a very,
[95:26]I mean, he's not only doing '80s rock, Russell, he's doing like future dance music.
[95:32]I mean, it's sort of new wavy, right?
[95:35]This is what, from '84?
[95:36]Yes.
[95:37]Sounds '80s.
[95:38]You know what?
[95:39]I should have guessed it was number one because a band we know covered it.
[95:43]It was the Muppets.
[95:44]The Muppets covered this song in episode 211 of Muppets Tonight.
[95:48]Nice.
[95:49]Honestly, I like this.
[95:50]Isn't this great?
[95:51]It's incredible.
[95:52]Now, you know, is Miss Piggy going to be Cordy Cox?
[95:53]Yes.
[95:54]Yes.
[95:55]Has to be, right?
[95:56]Yeah.
[95:57]Yeah.
[95:58]Oh, then they can't get her on stage.
[95:59]Is that the joke?
[96:00]No, no.
[96:01]There was also a Sesame Street version of Born to Add, but we've never done Sesame Street.
[96:02]We're a Muppets podcast.
[96:03]Oh my God.
[96:04]We cannot branch out to any more bits, Russell.
[96:05]We have too many bits to begin with.
[96:06]Oh, we've got one more bit coming on this last song.
[96:07]Oh, great.
[96:08]Next up, my hometown.
