Nick Drake: Pink Moon (1972)

Beck Did It Better Podcast 1972
About this episodeWelcome to the best Nick Drack Podcast and a podcast where we talk about the album Pink Moon. We talk a lot about the cabin this week and Matt tells us about his new skill.  Aaron is back on PTA duty but is too busy with all his Guys' nights, Russ is on a concert bender and Rob's kid tells the perfect joke.  Then we learn about Matt's new drinking game and talk about Pink Moon. We also learn about songs and artists influenced by the short career of Nick Drake and talk about this really fun album.  Next week, are you trying to seduce me Mrs. Robinson? We are a podcast talking about Graduatio

[0:00]Matt said he's got these two captain diets in. Matt, do you go a lime with those captain diets or no? I wish I could. To keep the scurvy away. It'd be a lot cooler if I did. Technically, Russell, that's a Cuba Libre. So just to let you know, as somebody who's graduated from bartending school, I'm just going to tell you right now, that's a Cuba Libre, my friend. I am not drinking tonight. Can I tell you guys why? Yeah. Well, okay. No. No. That'd be too depressing. Don't bring the room down. Come on, Russell. Don't bring the room down. Why? It's because tomorrow begins the Russ Summer Concert Tour. Uh-oh. You guys want to hear the Summer Concert Tour? Can I guess? Yeah, we got time. Can I just guess? Yes. Matt, you guess. Tomorrow, where am I going? Tomorrow, you're going to US Bank Stadium to see Metallica. Yes. Where am I going Saturday, Matt? You're going to go to the Xcel Energy Center to see Smashing Pumpkins open up for Green Day, who's going to play Dookie and American Idiot in its entirety. No. Because it's the 30th and the 20th year. Matt, you were almost correct, but I believe that would be at Target Field, not Xcel.

[1:00]Target Field. Dang it. Target Field. Matt, where am I going Sunday? You're going to go back to Metallica, because why wouldn't you go back to Metallica if they're Here twice? Two set lists. I'm going back. Matt, where am I finishing off the tour at on Monday? I have no fucking idea. I'm going back to Target Field for Def Leppard and Journey. Journey. Wow. What's a Filipino dude who sounds exactly like Steve Perry? It's crazy. Like Steve Perry. Yep. I was explaining that to my dad, because have you seen all the MnDOT signs? They're all Journey. They're quoting Journey. They say, drive slowly, faithfully at the end. And I was like, why are they? And there's another Journey song in there, too, somewhere. And I'm like, why are they quoting Journey? And then I looked, and Journey's coming to Minnesota. Don't stop believing in the speed limit? Yeah. Something like that. And I was like, is Journey that big a deal? Or the MnDOT puts it up all over the state? No, they're not, right?

[2:00]They're like, MnDOT has anything better to do. Probably fits right in with whoever the head of MnDOT is right now. Probably is a huge, hello, I'm a huge Journey fan. You know the head of MnDOT is the coolest fucking guy. He's got like big sunglasses and a sweet Camaro or something. He's got like a Corvette. He's got kind of a, probably a little bit of a cropped like front bangs, but like huge Mullet in the back. Oh, yeah. Got to do business in front. That guy's like never gotten a compliment at a party. No one's came out to bid and be like, man, the way you got 494 done in under seven years Was fantastic. I bet though at a party you could go up to a woman and say, I'm really good at filling Potholes. Who, like what's the MnDOT guy who was in charge when the bridge fell down doing today? Oh, Aaron. Jesus, Aaron. We're not talking about that. What are we doing? I've told this story before, right? That was the day KG got traded. Yes, I'm very aware. There's no memorial for that. There's no memorial for that. There's no memorial for that. No, I know the pleasure principal texted me.

[3:00]He's like, are you okay? And I was like, no, I'm pissed off that KG got traded. He was like, well, I meant because you work at the U and the bridge fell down. You know, I was on the baseball field. I was at Donaldson park, which is just South of 76th street, just West of 35 W For a Legion baseball tournament, we were coaching and all you heard was sirens for Like three innings. It was nothing but sirens heading down 35. Hey man, 35 W. Can I give you some advice? Yeah. Lash yourself to the mast. Those sirens are trying to drag you deep into the sea. My friend is that, Oh, Oh wow. Them sirens loved him up and turned him into a horny toad. Is that our earliest maps ever in an episode? Might be. Might be. So dumb. No one's listening. What? Well, I don't want to talk about the bridge collapse. Why don't we get into it? I mean, why not? That's how we're going to start our comic podcast. That's really good. I apologize. Yeah. It's gracious. In 2020, four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums decided

[4:00]By Rolling Stone magazine. This resulted in a tech chain that celebrated the music, excoriated the order and led us To making this podcast. We are far from experts. We promise to do almost no research. All opinions are our own unless you disagree. Please sit back and enjoy Beck Did It Better. We are all the way up to album 203 and from 1972, we have a move. A palindrome, right Rob? A palindrome. No, it's not. It's not a palindrome, Russell. It's a, sorry. We learned that there's actually quite a few palindromes that I didn't think about. Okay. Although I did get a text early Tuesday morning and said, hey, that palindrome joke was so Good. And I was like, I am trying too hard. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, nobody thought that was good. I, that's great. And from 1972, we have a move that I used to do in the showers at football practice. The Pink Moon by Nick Drake. All right. Listen. Listen, guys. Okay. I actually, now that I'm up at the cabin. Okay.

[5:00]You know, what's up? What's up is that my, everybody's finding out how terrible my kids are for the most Part. Everybody's like, your kids drink a lot of soda. And I'd be like, no, they don't. Amelia, how many sodas have you drank today? And she's like, six. I'm like, God damn. God damn, I'm a terrible parent. Yeah. But Rob, I've been to your house. I think you're a small soda can guy. You guys have like the ponies, like the six ouncers is what I remember seeing once. Well, if Jenny's around, that's what she buys. And I feel like Shaq walking around. But Rob, if you don't start in the morning, how can you drink all day? So they got they have to start in the morning, right? Well, when you wake up at 1230, the morning is very flexible. It's a very flexible thing for my kids. I'll tell you that. And then also my family's finding out how much whipped cream I buy. We were talking about this before we logged in. Cause I, right now in the fridge, I bet there's six containers of whipped cream. Cause we keep buying them. Because Rob walks around all day. In a whipped cream bikini at the cabin. He's just doing his own whipped cream bikini all day long.

[6:00]Can guys get yeast infections? I'm just going to ask that right now. We don't, we don't talk about this too often, but it hit right at the perfect time. Yeah. What is it? Johnny Moxon or whatever. What's the, what's the movie? I don't want your life. A fucking 10, man. A 10. A 10. Varsity Blues. I mean, what year did that come out? Rob, can you look that up quick? Give me a fucking break. I want to make sure I'm not going to be too much of a creeper here. Oh, you're doing that. What year did that come out? That came out in 99. 99. I graduated high school in 99. So that came out in 99. Jesus. And that chick came out in a whipped cream bikini. And I mean, it was over. It was over. Can I tell you what's so funny is that when I think of the whipped cream bikini, I think of it from not another teen movie where the guy comes out in the whipped cream bikini. Right. That's Rob. That's what I think about every time. I mean, let's face it. Listen, we've all done the whipped cream bikini. We've all done the whipped cream bikini. We've all done the whipped cream deal with somebody. Right. And it's, it's like, it's like jacking off in a hot tub.

[7:00]Right. It is disappointing. Right. Rosa, we've all done it. Right. Yep. It's right. It's pretty. Have you guys not done it? Really? There's no way. There's no way Aaron's done anything erotic with an aerosol can like that. She would not fly at his house. Well, not in California. I mean, back in Minnesota he did, but not in California. Aaron's, Aaron's like, oh, we're going to make love. Let me set up the mixer, the stand mixer. Oh, I'm going to add some. Vanilla. The kitchen ain't going. Yeah. I'm going to add some vanilla and some sugar. A little bit of bourbon. Yeah. It would be a nice. No, Aaron. Be careful. You guys. I'm just telling you. I'm going to cut this episode short and give it a shot. Let's face it. When you're going to sleep a little bit of stickiness, it's fine. You can deal with it. Right. Too much stickiness. You got to go shower off. Okay. So no whipped cream when you're making love. Russell, give me the big nod. Thank you. All right. Listen. I got a question. How much whipped cream do you go through in a month? Well, I did state this before the podcast, but I would guess at my house, I would guess

[8:00]At my house, we're going through four to five containers of whipped cream a month. Oh, what's a container? Ready whip. Like a ready whip. We're talking about the canister with the squirt thing. And sometimes I get the ready whip big boys. Okay. When you go to like Costco and you go to get the big boys, I'm like, oh, fuck. Yeah. Then I only need like three for the month. Have I told you guys, I was going to save this for my rolling going, but Have I told you guys my new drinking game? No. That we've, we've talked about. So I, I, every once in a while I listen to our, listen back to our episodes, but I have To fast forward through just to get to whatever I'm trying to listen to. Cause somebody will say something like, oh, when Rob talked about those People behind him in his green cab, that was hilarious. Things like that. So I hit my, whatever I got on my app, it's 30 seconds. What I've realized is that every 30 seconds, Rob is talking. So my new drinking game is that you just, You hit play in our episodes, it hits the 30 seconds go. And if you, if Rob is talking after every 30 seconds, Rob, can you pull up an old episode?

[9:00]Is that something we can do? For sure. For sure. Oh yeah. Pull up an old episode. Our listeners can play along on their drive to work on Tuesday. Classic episode, License to Ill. Okay. Guys. All right. In 2020. Okay. I'll go to a random place. 30 second forward. I'm going to go to a random place. 30 seconds. 30 minutes, 13 seconds. Okay. Okay. Now just 30 seconds forward. Let's just count how many times Rob has talked. Rob is talking versus Rob is not. Let's just play here. We'll see how this works. Let's just play here. Oh my God. That's boring. Okay. So that, okay. So that's why let's go to 29, 20. You don't need like an, a 40. Oh, that's a Russell. Oh, there you go. You're Russell. Okay. So don't drink. Let's go to 40. Shoes? Yeah. Oh, so, well, that was Aaron. That was Aaron. Okay. Another 30. I said the word shoes. That's all you got. Yeah. Well, here we go. Were the shoes. It did. Oh, you still talk about shoes. What a sick. Sick bastard. No, you went back. No, now you're, now you're going to start on the cereal view. When I saw that, I thought you would.

[10:00]Oh, wow, man. I'm not talking at all. Let's try it one more time here and feel what the inside of his mouth feels like. I feel like that would be a really fun museum experience. This would be the hall of fame. Hey, fingers in the mouth bit. The fish hooking episode. So a new drinking game. Just hit 30 seconds forward. Rob's talking, you drink, and I guarantee you don't laugh. You've lost more than 16 seconds. I forgot about the fingers in the mouth rock and roll museum. But guys, think about it. Gene Simmons. You don't want to feel what the inside of his mouth feels like. God, that's a great idea. Past Rob, I salute you. Okay. Meanwhile, what's past Rob done for me? Jacked off so much. I have a rash on my dick. All right, let's get right into the radio. Damn you, past Rob. Hey, past Rob loved it. I'm not going to lie. Here we go. There's no KY where you're at? I'm not. I'm up north. There's no Dwayne Reed, so it can't get any lube. No, no. Yeah, I got it.

[11:00]It's just talcum powder. When I'm going to the grocery store, I've got my kids with me, so I can't buy anything. What's that for? Oh. Well. Never mind. Okay, here we go. I really miss your mom. Guys, let's turn on the power lune. I'm up north. Let's go into power lune. Let's turn it on. Here we go. The power lune. Power. Welcome to K-Rob. Oh, a parody song. I would say C-Rob's putting some effort back into this. Today's best thing about something you should never do, and that is look at your internet History. Oh, yeah. When I'm bored and I am at home, I look at my history in Chrome. Oh, no. I look at all the purple links, and it mostly seems to be people's names. I look at all the purple links, and it mostly seems to be people's names.

[12:00]Right now, we've got man stuck in a balloon. Oh, yeah. That was a good one. I remember that one. We've got taps. Okay. I don't know why we have to play taps during a comedy podcast, but that makes sense. And here's what I don't get, though, about all these searches is why are they all so misspelled? Oh. Passed, real. But Sawson's feet was not blue. Or Pee-wee deflating his balloon. Oh, classic. Or that lady with the grapefruit. Or Alan Jackson on the Chattahooch.

[13:00]The Chattahooch. The links aren't blue. Wow. When you want to hear about the greatest. I like it. I like it. Beautiful. Yeah. It's nice. Very nice. I was nervous. I literally recorded that five minutes before we started, and I was nervous, and I was like, Nobody knows what Pink Moon really sounds like. I was like, we're fine. Nah, you're good. You can do whatever. I've got the perfect podcast for you, Jack. Beck did it better. You sitting there with your headphones on. Me, a podcast host, saying whatever I want, and no one can stop me. Nobody tells me what to do in this world. This is Beck Did It Better. I've got three guys here along with me, and we are breaking down every album. By the way, wore a shirt again. Another relative. Hey, what's that shirt? God damn it. I had to explain. And he was like, what episode? He said, send me an episode so I can listen. Guys, what episode do I send of this podcast, Beck Did It Better, where we're going through

[14:00]The top 500 Rolling Stone albums, as decided by Rolling Stone magazine? I think we've established, pick one at random, and Rob's going to be talking. Oh, not true. You were talking about feet that whole time. Every 30 seconds. Every 30 seconds. Because I said, oh, I'll send you Jimmy Cliff, because we have a bit about masks and how They don't have eye holes, and he kind of looked at me, and I was like, okay, so maybe We'll do, maybe, I don't know. We have a clean episode. We have a clean episode somewhere, right? Yeah, I think Billy Joel, right? Until the end. Oh. It got really bad. Listen, I've got Matt. Matt's up in North Dakota. Okay? Matt has been having, not a Cuba Libre or two. Matt, how are you doing tonight? I'm doing good. You know, none of us stand still as tall as Russell. Wow. That's all I've got to say. God damn. It's true. Damn. I've got Russell in Minneapolis. Russell, how are you doing tonight? Rob, rolling. How are you doing? A few days ago, I lifted the mask off a local clown, for I am the parasite of this town. Wow.

[15:00]Is that a line from this album? Gosh, I've been listening closer. Now, here I've got Aaron out in California. Now, Aaron the Olympics just ended, Aaron. Okay? Yeah. And it was crazy because I learned a little history about the Olympics. Okay? I mean, call me Malcolm Gladwell, except for the plane stuff. Listen, Karl Marx had a sister, and that sister was named after him. She was named Anya, and she's such a famous track athlete. She was in the Olympics that they say her name before every race, Aaron. Anya Marx. I don't know. I think they generally say, runners, take your marks at this point. I don't think they actually say Anya Marx. You see, I just want everybody at home to see. Do you see what you're dealing with? I'm trying to have fun. At least at the Drake Relays, they say, runners, take your marks. I don't know. Well, there you go. Bring up the Olympics to Iowa. All right, Mr. Starter. I think we've got it. I think we've established that is kind of a rinky-dink operation. Can I just say this? I drove through Iowa the other day. The fact that we let a state with roads like that determine who our next president is,

[16:00]Is crazy to me. That is crazy. It was like driving on a cheese grater, though. You've got some fans who are going to want to know why you didn't call them. Did you guys know the Drake Relays, if they were a country, The Drake Relays would have been second in track medals at the Olympics this year. They would have had 19 Drake Relays athletes in that country. What a surprise. They said the best track athletes also go to a group. Let's talk about Nick Drake. You don't have a single quote from this album, do you dirty dog? I don't. Oh, my God. You had an extra week, too. It's the first week of school, man. It's been minimum days. Don't give me that shit. You're not going to school. Oh, wait. School starts again? Oh, Rob, when do you start school again? School started out here. If you were a teacher in Oakland, you'd be working three hours a day. You'd be working three hours a day right now. Three hours a day. You guys are such...

[17:00]125 release every day. You guys are such pieces of shit. You really are. 125. Here we go. The children are coming home. Recently left a voicemail because I'm a dumb shit listeners. If a complimentary movie guy doesn't win Uncle Russell's tournament, Then Rob isn't allowed to bang his weightlifting coach Until a guy that enjoyed Bad News Bears starring Billy Bob Thornton In the Apple Valley Theater spraying warm 3-2 Miller Lite everywhere Becomes the rightful champion. Oh, the Apple Valley Theater. Russ might not have been there for that one, But other listeners have to share the story. Guys, I think 3-2 beer is underrated. Radiohead still sucks. All right. So there we have... Boo this man. Boo this man. Complimentary movie guy. Of course, now I'm terrified to not play his voicemails As soon as he sends them to me Because he calls Russ and complains. He saw Bad News Bears with Billy Bob Thornton And sprayed beer all over. And it did remind me of the story of when I go to... The only theater I go to now is the 40X. It's the one with the seats move. And they have that... There's a bit in the beginning of the show Where they show you how the seats are going to move. Like it takes you on a roller coaster And so I know when they're going to shake.

[18:00]And so I grab a big handful of popcorn And as soon as the seats start shaking, I throw it up in the air as high as I can And I go, whoa! And my kids are mortified when I do that. When you're going to a movie theater, Are we... We're sneaking in alcohol now into a movie theater? What are we doing? 3-2 beer? Aaron, do you like 3-2 beer? I do. I enjoy 3-2 beer. But I've been sneaking... Well, now most theaters... But before that, yeah, I mean... And then I would always sneak a beer into the movies. It was no big deal. But since my experience at Family Camp this summer, I've developed a new appreciation for 3-2 beer. It's delicious. You can drink two or three of them. I like it. But it's only available in Minnesota, right? Isn't it only a Minnesota thing? You would think. But there is... Alvarado Street Brewing in Monterey Now makes a... They call it a little lager. And it's a 3-2 lager out here in California. Can you explain to me what is a 3-2 beer? I don't drink beer. I don't understand any of this stuff. What does 3-2 mean? It's 3.2% alcohol. So it's mostly water.

[19:00]Like it's even lower than... So like a Bud Light. A Bud Light is like a 4-2 or a 4-0 or something like that. Like, right? Those would be ones, Rob, when we were younger, You could find in a grocery store. So you're more likely to try to go into a grocery store And buy it there and get away with it As opposed to going into a liquor store If you were below age. And I think there's actually like liquor... The only thing they can... Like their license is to sell 3-2 beer. That's it. And as I get older, I really appreciate it. Like when I was younger, I was like, I'm never going to drink a beer under 5%. What's the point? And then the point is, it's still delicious. You're still going to sleep okay. It sounds like you're doing great. It sounds like you're thinking about your health doing that. Now, let me ask you this. What is theoretically... Rob, technically, Rob, don't mean to interrupt. Technically, you can also drink them while you're driving. I hadn't even thought of that. That's, I mean... Matt's putting his head in his hands. Russell, I mean... If an attorney says that... Helps you concentrate a little better, right?

[20:00]Right, just like the first two. And then after that, it's still... I think when the cop pulls you over, You have to speed up real fast. He'll pull up alongside you and you'll say, It's 3-2, you mouth to him, 3-2. Let me ask you this, guys. So Aaron's going one way with the 3-2 beer. What if somebody theoretically went to a state Where they had a single beverage That had 50 milligrams of THC in it? Oh, whoa. 50 milligrams? 50 milligrams. And then they drank that and it actually rocked. And they wished that this may be some states Closer to them also had 50 milligrams. And it makes me think, or it makes this person think, Maybe it's spinning out of control. Any thoughts on that? At some point, the 50, is this good quality stuff? I mean, what's going on? Like, they're putting 50 in a single beverage? Listen, all I know is that this person Fell into their mattress for 5 to 10 minutes. Let's get into Roland Dahl. Aaron, what's 3-2 beer like to spray? Does it spray better? Well, I don't know. I never sprayed a 3-2 beer.

[21:00]Wow. You think Steve Austin was using 3-2 beer? Save a little money, maybe? No, he was always doing the hardcore stuff, right? Well, I would assume so. Maybe he's like, I'm going to take it easy tonight. I'm going to have these 3-2 beers. I'm going to have a couple of 3-2s. Yeah if Stone Cold came out And he just had Topo Chico hard seltzers, That's a whole different character, right? You got the strawberry or the guava in there? Strawberry. I am going to tell you right now, Guava, not a real flavor in things. Anytime something tastes like guava, I don't understand what it is. I don't think it's a real flavor. Oh, yeah, I've seen a guava fruit. Yeah, right. Hey, Roland, go on. Aaron, how's it going with you? I just want you guys to know this is not My first Zoom of the night. Tonight was the first PTA meeting of the year And I am rolling into my second year As Merchant Programs Coordinator So I had to join the PTA meeting. Deep down, you love this, though. This is something that Aaron, I think,

[22:00]Kind of complains about, But deep down loves being part of it. Like, it's his community now. It is. And I actually also volunteered To be part of a reserves committee Because the treasurer wants to know for sure What the policy is on. Aaron, just make sure that when you're done, You don't say that you were Major Sergeant Commander. If you didn't do the education after your final part, Aaron. I retired, but I didn't retire. But I was going to retire anyway. If you're in the reserves, My advice is as soon as the PTA wants you to do something, You get out of there, okay? You guys know me. We are not. This show has never been political And it never will be. But I'm just going to say this. Computers are voting machines now? Something to think about. Anyway, Aaron, go ahead. But I do, actually, I do want to tell a story. And I hope Matt, I hope I'm not stealing. I'm not stealing your thunder. I saw a video of Matt water skiing recently. I also went water skiing. I wasn't, no, no, no.

[23:00]I was not water skiing. You were wake surfing. That was wake surfing. I'm sorry, Matt. Matt was wake surfing. All right, Matt's a surfer. So this is different. And this is my story is not about skiing myself. It is about driving the boat while someone else skied. So I was in Lake Tahoe last week. My dear friend, Scott, who I grew up with, I've known since I was nine years old, Came out to visit us, brought his camera, Took the kids out. And I want to tell a story about an amazing thing That happened, which is that we were water skiing On Lake Tahoe, which is one of the most beautiful things I've ever done in my life. And then we had rented a boat for the day. And Scott, we told him. Screw that no wake zone, right, Aaron? Screw that no wake. We stayed outside of the no wake zone. But we told Scott, you got to try it too. He was mostly the driver because I'm not as good of a driver. But we were like, no, you got to try to ski also, right? So that meant that I was left, To be the driver. So we were on this Yamaha and it was like a jet boat. It didn't have a prop on it.

[24:00]So like, it wasn't a super powerful boat, But it had two jets and I don't know, It was a confusing thing. So I had to try to drive while Scott skied and I did it. I managed to get him up on the skis and then managed To dial back the throttle enough for him to Be able to ski. So I felt good about that. But as we were driving, we were cruising along And I could see there was something In the water and I was like, well, I don't want him to hit that thing in the water. So I'm going to point it out and make sure He can see it. Just like if you would do If you're in a pace line on a bike, You'd point out like, oh, there's a Traffic cone or whatever. Don't talk to us about what it's like to be on a pace line. Okay. Don't talk down to us. We know. Right, Russell? I can't stand cyclists. Are you guys watching the Tour de France FOM too? Kasia Nia-Viadoma in yellow this week. Kasia Nia-Viadoma Finney, who is now married to Taylor Finney. She's in yellow today. Spoiler alert. I don't know if she's going to be able to hold it or not. So I pointed this thing out and then I couldn't, There was no rear view on this boat and they told me That he swung over and he picked the thing up. It was a bag of potato chips.

[25:00]Someone had dropped a bag of potato chips. That rules. And I've seen the video. He rolled over, he swung out, one take, Picked up the bag of potato chips, Scooped it up on his water skis, Tucked it into his life jacket and skied the rest of his run. That is baller. It was incredible. Like one of the great, and this guy, He also, Like growing up, He was a guy who like never watched sports and then would go out and Dominate at sports. I can remember watching him in the state championship game, Just flying around on as linebacker, Destroying people. And then like went ahead and did the same thing. Like I got up on skis, fine, whatever. And he went out and slalom all around on his two skis and picked up an Errant bag of potato chips. So athletes are athletes just like Matt, man. Like athletes are athletes. If that was me, when I got home, I'd make sure the chair by my bed had a real comfy cushion. Cause I'm going to be sitting on that thing. Yeah. Watching this guy all night long. Okay. Some people think, Oh, Cuckolding. Oh, it's just something you get into and it just happens. No, you got to prepare for it.

[26:00]You're going to get thirsty. You're going to get hungry. The chair might be uncomfortable. Okay. Who's holding the camera. Okay. Who's getting to the end of the bed to look deep up there. Right. Aaron. Aaron. That is what now I'm going to guess right now. The kind of potato chips. I do that himself. Is he Rob? Well, no, you need a mirror. That's what you're there for, sir. You need another selfie stick. You bought two yesterday. Well, I lost one. I made a mistake. Listen, one's gone. And don't ask me why I'm leaving. We're out of that disinfectant. I told you. Now, listen, what kind of chips are getting picked up off the lake? I'm going to guess right now. Barbecue. They're barbecue chips. I can see somebody with a barbecue chips on a boat. They fly out of the boat. The guy goes, fuck it. I hate nature. Straight up ruffles. I'm going to go with the blue bag, blue and white bag. Wow. Straight up ruffles. So salty. Russell. I'm going to go with some weird flavored Dorito, like the purple bag of Dorito, like some chili Doritos or something like that. Russell acting like he doesn't know what the purple bag is.

[27:00]I don't know what it is. You know what? I'm a normal Dorito person only. I'm not into Cool Ranch. I'm not into any other type of Dorito. That's crazy that you don't like Cool Ranch. How can you not be into Cool Ranch? Cool Ranch is the normal. I don't like Cool Ranch either, Russell. I'm with you, bro. Oh, my God. Aaron, get my cushion. Get my cushion off the cuff chair. Neither one of these guys. I prefer ice cream to Cool Ranch Doritos. Why not just get ice cream, right? Let's do both. That's like I bought. I just bought. I'm going to let you get back to your story, Aaron. But I just bought a box of super hot Cheez-Its, hot and spicy, and I'm going to mix them Half and half with a bag of regular Cheez-Its and put it back in the closet so nobody's Going to know which Cheez-Its they're biting. You have reached the end of your calendar time for the summer. Oh, it's going to be so great. It's going to be great. People are going to be like, I didn't know. Ah, it's so spicy. So good. Aaron, what kind of chips did somebody drop on the lake? I think Russell's the closest. It was the green bag of Lay's dill pickle chips.

[28:00]And so I'm going to ask, how is Roman going with Russell? I'm on a dill pickle. Dill pickle. No wonder. If I had a bag of dill pickle chips on the boat, I would toss them out, too. See ya. Guys, I have three different topics. I'm going to give you each. You're getting each team me up with one. And we're going, what's the game? It's a trivial pursuit style. I've got three categories. You can either choose arts and entertainment, law and order, or potpourri. Oh, law and order. Arts and entertainment, law and order, or potpourri. Law and order. Let's go law and order. Law and order. You guys were talking earlier about getting pulled over. A few weeks ago, guys, I said I never get, I've never had a ticket. I got pulled over up north. I got pulled over. Oh, no. So I'm heading out to, I'm heading out to Cole's Resort, one of our Favorite resorts. One of my favorite places. Going to see if we can get a swap in. And I'm on my way out there. I see the cop turn around on Highway 2 or whatever it is. Puts the cherries on. And I'm looking and I'm like, I could be the only option right now.

[29:00]My pappy said, son, you're going to drive me to drinking. I was just on a long drive, Russell. And I had a cop pull a Yui behind me. And just that feeling, sinking feeling. My dad's in the passenger seat next to me. I was like, God damn, this is terrible. And you just put that Blue Lives Matter flag out on the roof and just hope That works. When you get pulled over by a cop and your dad's in the car with you, That's like getting cucked for real. Russell, are you a Waze person? Are you a Google Maps person? I have Google Maps. Are you doing any? A lot of times Google Maps. Don't forget Apple Maps. Don't forget Apple Maps. No, everybody forgets Apple Maps. Be quiet. Everybody. And I say everybody. Yeah. Matt, my Google Maps does often flag you for that type of thing. It did not flag me for this one. So no one must have given me the answer. I have become. I've become a Waze person. I love Waze. I kind of fought it, but I've become a Waze person because I got to drive. You know, we drive 500 miles up to our cabin up here, a seven-hour drive up to North Dakota. And it has saved me numerous times.

[30:00]Numerous times. I'm driving 83 in a 75 and I'll just back down to 79 when you see The cops coming. And so, I don't know. I can vouch for Waze being a lifesaver. So he pulls me over. He comes up. He goes, I had you. I had you going 74 in a 65. So nine over. Oh, come on. 74 in a 65. I always thought nine under was the limit. I thought that's what they want you to do, right? Under seven. Yep. No, under seven. And so he says, what do you think you were going? And you know what I said? The only answer you should ever say, the speed limit. I thought I was going the speed limit. Yes. You can't ever admit it, right? No. Nope. That's entrapment, sir. You have to let him bring you in. Like, call your lawyer. I'm not, I'm not going to say until my lawyer is present. I would say, don't pay my Miranda rights. I'll give you a 10 bucks for hand stuff, but you got to tell me if you're a cop. So I think you got to say, you got to tell me if you're a cop first.

[31:00]You got to start with that part. You got to flip those around. And then I'm going to ask you 10 bucks for a hand stuff. So did I go through the stressful part of like the mind? I don't know if you guys go through this. If you ever get pulled over, am I going to have like, Current proof of insurance? What if I didn't put a card in the last time I got a new one? Do I have current insurance in my card? I do. I pull it out. I give it to him. I give it to him. But then he says, is your driver's license current address? And I go, oh no, actually I haven't. I don't have a current address on my license because I haven't changed it since I moved. Oh, right. Because you're in your slam piece, Pat. Russell, can I ask you this, Russell? You bet. I messed up that joke. Do you, Aaron, say it again. I'm sorry. No, no. The moment has passed. I'm going to listen back, Aaron. I'm going to listen back. I'm going to insert my response right now. I hope it was good, Aaron, because otherwise you're getting roasted for future Rob. Future Rob, get his ass. Gave him what he needed.

[32:00]He went back. I was sitting there kind of waiting. He comes back and he starts talking to me. He asks, well, where were you headed? And I tell him I'm going, here's where I try to big time him. I'm going to my brother's resort. He owns Cole's resort. I figure he's, maybe he's local. Maybe he knows. I'm like, I'm pulling out. I'm pulling out the big dog. My brother owns Cole's resort. And he's like, say hi to my wife. Yeah. His eyes go big as he looks around to see who's in the car with you because he knows. He's like, well, now $10 is a pretty good deal. Sometimes a cuck chair is the backseat, Russell. He's smiling at the selfie sticks into my backseat. He's like, I hear you, right? But so then he says, and I say, well, what do you, he goes, where are you from? Where are you heading? I tell him I'm going to Cole's resort. And here's where I break. Breakout. This is my move. There's no way you can give me a ticket after this. I'm going to Cole's resort to play bingo with my nieces and nephews. Oh, yes. You're like, and guess what? Guess what I've got in the trunk.

[33:00]It's a nun. Yeah, that's right. That's how much I care about people. I'm bringing a nun. Like Russell's doing like that. Sir, if I don't get there, these kids will never be able to play games. So eventually he comes back to the car. You guys want to guess ticket or no ticket? Ticket. No way. No way. Russell nine plus your good story. Russell. No, no ticket. No way. Aaron, what do you think? Warning. He gave you a warning. Aaron got it again. No ticket. I got a warning, but he did in that warning. He did say, this is just proof that we spoke about this and you need to get that driver's License updated. So can I, that was my run in with law and order this law and order. I have a Minnesota driver's license still. Okay. I am not getting an update to new. You've been in New York for like eight years. It doesn't matter. I come back on my birthday. I go to the DMV updated. I still have a Minnesota driver's license. I don't want to deal with this shit. Okay. I will never update my license. Are you done Russell?

[34:00]Is that it? Unless you want to do arts and entertainment. Oh yeah. Oh, wait. I want to do arts. I want to do arts. It feels like we're an arts and entertainment podcast. We have actually Rob, instead of this song, if you could pull up cult of personality for Me, wrestling. Are we talking about? Who's the wrestler that uses this song, man? Are you referring to CM Punk? CM Punk. CM Punk. Yep. You guys are right. I saw Vernon Reed two summers ago. So I'm play live a couple of weeks ago. Good. Earlier than a few months ago, my sister texted me and she said, Hey, your nephew's Gotten really into wrestling recently. I would like to take my family to Monday night raw coming up this summer. And I would like you to go with us. And I was like, what? What more could I want to do in his life? Right? Wow. That's it. So my sister or husband and their two kids came up, offered it to the upstairs roommate Upstairs roommate. She's in, she's going to Monday night with us.

[35:00]Russell. Can I just, we didn't see that on her Instagram. We saw twins games. We didn't see any wrestling at her Instagram. What's up with that? A little high and mighty, I guess. Huh? I'm going to say this right now, Russell, go buy a ring right now. Okay. On the way into a wrestling thing, they should just have engagement rings for sale is, is Your girlfriend with you get engaged inside. They probably have a free sign, like, will you marry me or whatever, like they can hook Up the whole thing. So a couple of my favorite moments from, we had a great time. The first cool moment is my niece also was kind of forced to come along. I think she did really want to go, but she went along and she seemed to have a good time, But she showed up and had made uncle Russ a wrestling ring out of like cardboard and Everything. So a homemade wrestling ring. She was like, Oh my God. And I was like what? You know what? I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. She was like what? I'm not going to do that. She was like, I'm not going to do that. She was like, I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. She was like, I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. This is garbage, Matt. We Uber over to St. Paul because St. Paul is east of Minneapolis.

[36:00]So we ended up taking an Uber over to the Excel energy center. We go and my favorite Moment of the night, we were sitting there the whole night and about an hour left. This adult in front of us just slyly pulls out a luchador mask out of his pocket and Puts it on. We had watched the last hour at a luchador mask. He wasn't standing up Like cheering loudly. He wasn't drawing attention to it. He just wanted to wear the luchador Mask for Monday night raw. How awesome is that? Respect, right? Like that's just, that's Just his thing. I love it. Go CM Punk. I love you. You're so great. Wow. Is CM Punk still wrestling? CM Punk is still wrestling. He was like the headliner of The show. So this is, let, let me take us back to one on one. So he's, this Is W, W, W, E, right? Yes. That's what Monday night raw is. Yes. Big timer there. He then left and went to something else and now he's back at WEE. Is

[37:00]That true? I have not known that he's back to WEE. I think he had just come back or he had just come back within the last couple Months, I believe. And so he was back, but he was the one that probably Got the biggest, they called this in the business, Rob, a pop. Wow. I mean, I went To, Super America the other day. I got a 48 ounce. Well, the biggest pops I've Ever seen is huge. We call that a soda in this part of the town. Matt, Roland, Go on. How's it going with you? I don't know if I'd ever call it a soda. A couple of things. One, you put on PM Don's set adrift on the list. I heard this song popped up and I could Not believe how great this song was from 1991, November 30th, 1991. Wow. Matt, what a classic. Yeah, always louder. What is this? You've never heard this? 1991? No, I was probably studying. Come on.

[38:00]Well, I'm just gonna have to, we're gonna have to just let this read. I mostly only know songs that have crazy frogs in them. Is this back to life, back to Reality? Oh, yeah. Do you know this one? This is A great song. Is this not a great song? I got a couple quick things. So as a God, I love this song so much. Isn't it great? And watch the video, Rosie. Just watch the video. It's great. These guys are awesome. Did you turn the volume down? I mean, really, if this is playing, anything I've gotta say really Doesn't matter all the time. Let me just tell you. So as Aaron had said, I am now a surfer. I am now a wake surfer. I serve. I'm a surfer. I've still been watching the video. Matt, how long are shorts are you wearing though? That's my question.

[39:00]Short, man. You gotta wear the short shorts. Change in the paradigm. If you look at the Beck did a better Instagram, it is nothing but wake surfing videos. I've been having more wake surfing videos these days. I am obsessive Wake surfing all of a sudden. So Matt, have you Done it where you'd let go of the rope yet? Because I wasn't able to do that. Have not done it where I let go of the Rope yet. No. The fact that I got up On a it's one of those things where you're in the water, the boat Starts, you have to get up onto the board and go. It's unbelievable. I cannot believe that it's taken me, I mean it Took me like three times this year. So the fact that it went out Back out tonight, Troy, Sarah's cousin Troy, From my not, came down on a Thursday Took my kids out. My kids are now both wake surfing Watching their kids go, things like that. It is unbelievable. If I had a cabin Those closer, I'd have a wake boat in 13 seconds.

[40:00]I cannot believe it is unbelievable. It is such a fun thing to do And I can't believe it's probably the most expensive, but like It get into these things where I've done nothing but baseball, basketball Football my whole life, right? And like the fact that I was Never on the water growing up like I never Water skied, I never knee boarded, never did anything. It just was Not part of my life growing up whatsoever. Like I am such A horrible water sports person that I can get up on a surf board is unbelievable. So I don't know about it. You kind of grew up on the water. Didn't you a little bit Having the cabin where you're at. I mean it's Just, it's like this weird, to me it's a weird, but it's an awesome Little faction of society, this like lake life kind of Thing. So I don't know, I'm trying to dive in head first Of my kids. Well, first of all, Matt, I mean it's just like, the whole goal of Being a parent, right? Is to be like, hey I'm going to do things for my kids that

[41:00]I wish I would have. Right? So you're giving them Your kids are going to grow up having surfed behind a boat. Like that's Crazy. Think about that. That's crazy. But I got my kids, she's up on One water ski now. She can get up on one and she was like, dad how do I do this? And I was like, I have no idea. Hit repeat. I don't know. Just Just run it back. In fact, let's skip the rest of the episode and just listen to p.m. Done. I cannot tell, I was like, I cannot tell you how to Go up on water ski. I've never done it in my life. I have no idea. She just plugged away and got it. There is something about being a lake Person where you, like it is a whole skill. It's great. My youngest one, he's a pretty athletic kid. He got up right away. My oldest one, not the most athletic kid in the world. He gets up first he gets up right away now on a surfing. It's unbelievable. It's the coolest thing in the world. Being a lake guy, it really does one thing to you, like long-term.

[42:00]And that is that swimmer's itch, isn't it Rob? That's true. That's no joke. Like I got to kind of air it out every once in a while. It is that you really fucking hate work. You hate work more than a normal person because you know how good it could be. Instead of that, you could be in the boats. Like that is better than work. It's named after the worst thing. Work. Think about it. That's awesome. The only other thing I got is our buddy, Magic Mike 69. And really I don't know, can we say his actual Instagram name? Is that legal? Can we do that? But so Magic Mike, he posts this thing the other day. So he went to a concert. He went and saw an outlaw concert, Which was Willie Nelson, who's 91, Bob Dylan, 83, and John Mellencamp was 72. Okay. And so Rolling Stone magazine posts this thing on their website that says Dylan broke the song. A hard reign is going to fall,

[43:00]Which is again, top three Dylan song. Of course out seven tracks into a set at the Toyota amphitheater in Wheatland, California on Sunday night. He hadn't played this since 2017. And his set list has been essentially locked in since that show And outlaw tour last June. And then so then they post to it. And here's where it gets good. They post to it. They say, here's a fan shot video of the moment. And then in parentheses, it says the video is less than great. Click here for an audio version. And my Magic Mike 69 says, Well, F you to Rolling Stone because he's the one who posted the video And Rolling Stone says the video is less than great. He's like, well, he puts on his Instagram which is hilarious. And he says, I was excited to see the Rolling Stone took the time To personally trash my videography skills. The audio version is from my video and met with their approval.

[44:00]My audio engineering degree did not go to waste. So the Magic Mike 69, we salute you for the attempt And the actual recording of it. And you know what screw Rolling Stone for ripping on Magic Mike 69. 100% videography skills. Let me tell you how dare they, We should mail them a powder and envelope. And I feel honored that he listens to our podcast. He's an OG. He's legitimately an OG. He was the one. Let's just, because we talk about Magic Mike 69 fairly often. Well, what was it? He like sent in like maybe like episode four or five something. But what was it sent in an iTunes review where he was like, Oh, the host made a lot of factual errors. And I told him, okay, I actually factually incorrect. So then I said to him, Hey, listen, did you hear about Gandhi's son, Lee, Gandhi's balls for criticizing this podcast. And then he went through and changed it to a very funny review That's still up there of like this podcast is very accurate. And I like Rob's VR games. Can we just run it back? You said Dee's balls.

[45:00]Yeah, I'm starting to think. Aaron, I might go viral. Dee's balls. Aaron, I'm with my family. Dee's balls. So Magic Mike 69, he's a hilarious character in the best way. I can't wait till we actually meet him in Vegas. Russell, it'll be the year that Russell is not there Because Russell is scared to meet him. But at some point he's going to meet us in Vegas and we're going to hang out. It'll be great. Yeah, it'll be great. So we've talked about my kids that there's the sign that says, You know, I want to, I want my toes in the sand in a cocktail in my hands. Right. And then over at Troy's place, Troy from my nut, They conveniently put duct tape over tail. So it just says, I want my toes in the sand and my cock in my hand. And my kids had no idea what a cock was at the time. So they made up a song and we had to finally tell them. So fast forward last year. Have we talked about this? We've talked about it, but I'd like to hear more. I'd like to hear a song.

[46:00]So Leo had said like, oh Maybe it's just like a sing songy thing Like I want my toes in the sand and a cock in my hand. And that's what my mom and I were like, look, We were telling Sarah, like you have to tell them, You have to tell them. And then finally she told him kind of thing. So the same thing has happened now. They got bingo at the bar up here. And of course we're in North Dakota. So my kids can go to the bar and play bingo at the bar. Of course. Right. And last year it was just a complete shit show. And they just had like whoever could call bingo and Troy's brother, Dean was the bingo caller one night that every time there was an, Oh, he would say, let me see your face. 75 every time there was an, oh, that's what he would say. He's hammered. He's saying this. And so Leo who's 12 and now He thought this was hilarious, But had no idea what the old face thing is. So to this day he still says, let me see your face.

[47:00]Oh, so we finally had to tell him last week, Like you got to knock that off. Listen, when moms and dads love each other, Okay, they'll do things from anywhere from three to, I don't know, 35 minutes and 35 minutes is actually too long. Okay. Sometimes it's actually too long. And the dads will show the mom their own hamstrings. Yeah. Hamstrings can't last so long. Yeah. And the moms someday, I'm not sure. Listen, 25% of the time tops. There's a bunch of sleep everybody got. So that's it. Rob, Roland going, how's it going with you? Listen, major parenting moment for me out in the boat. My kid is picking up water skis, Has the water ski between her legs sticking out. And I think to myself, well, it's kind of funny. You know what I mean? The kid looks at her friend who's here does of course the Humping motion with the water skis. This is my shlong. Oh no.

[48:00]Yeah. That's your kid. That's definitely your kid. You did it. I was like, oh, This is my shlong. I was like, that might be the perfect joke that I've ever Heard in my life. It was so good. I was so proud of her. Okay. It was kind of like what I mean? Like that's like the video at the wedding that's playing. And I'm like putting tears out my eyes as much as you Talked about her shlong. It was just so happy because that's not a word I use Around the house. Believe it or not. I don't use that. Kids still use that word. Yeah. I didn't know shlong was still in the kids vocabulary. Shlong is back. Shlong is back. It's out there. It's out there. Shlong will always be funny. Might not be back, but it has not gone away. It's at least still out there. Never not funny to hear the word shlong. I don't say it. I don't say it enough. Your doctor could be like, listen, We have some concerns about your shlong. And you'd be like, bro, you said shlong. That's so funny. I don't think I've ever used the word.

[49:00]Russell do it right now. Come on. Do I have to use it in a sentence? Yes. Of course. Like Russell. Okay. Let's what Russell? I hate to do this. What's role play right now? Okay. Hey, I'm Rob. I've got this rash on my shlong. Let's talk about the album. Russell, that was perfect. Okay. Listen, let's talk about Nick Drake, pink moon. Now, do you guys have any, Have you ever listened to Nick Drake before? Have you ever heard Nick Drake before? Matt. Can I tell you my story? Please. Legit story. So I, I know I listened to this album. You know, it's got to be three, four. When do it? Everybody started this thing. You know, I listened to all 500 albums and I did it like A year and a half kind of a thing. So it had to be at least three years ago that I listened to This album had, don't remember anything. Sarah, my lovely wife has had this like cool, Like acoustic, like chill mix on Amazon for ever.

[50:00]And I've listened. There's John, there's some John Mayer songs. There's a whole bunch of other things on this thing. And then listening to the song up here at the lake a day and a Half ago, and I said, who is this out? You know, what is this song that you're listening to right Now? And so I said, Alexa, what is this song? This is pink moon by Nick Drake. I'm like, no fucking way. Yeah. You know, absolutely. I had no idea. So it just happened to be listening to pink moon by Nick Drake for like years and love this song. It's an awesome song. Had no idea. That one, it was from the seventies. Two, it was Nick Drake. And three, that it was the, what do we call this Rosie? The titular track of this album. This music is out there in the ether. It's awesome. It is awesome. I had a short break tonight between dubs going into his Room and getting on with you guys. I put it on and we finished the whole thing. And Anna was like, I think I know all of those songs. Like they're just, they're out there. They're so good. I have experienced with Nick Drake through the

[51:00]Garden state soundtrack, the Zach Brown movie. Yeah. Nick Drake's on there. It's an excellent soundtrack. And it's a song off his second album. And I was going to say it today. I listened to some of his other albums because I Enjoyed this so much. I'm going to say the other albums I think are Really interesting. There's some stuff where you're like, it's, It's kind of jazzy. It's instead of a guitar, it's a xylophone or Vibraphone or something. But it really, his music, if you like this kind Of single person on an acoustic guitar playing A strangely tuned guitar and a very rhythmic, You'll love Nick Drake. And when we talk about Nick Drake, right, he came Out, he's, this is an album from the 70s, which blew my mind. I always thought Nick Drake was like a 90s guy. Early 70s. Yeah. He started in early late 60s. Long time ago. He actually, he released his first album when He was in college in Cambridge in 1969. And so basically he came out with his first Album. It has this cool sound, like this really, Really unique sound. But the problem was he hated playing in Front of people. He just, he couldn't stand it.

[52:00]He got too nervous. And then the other thing was, is that all These songs are different tuning on his guitar. So people, so he would have to be up there To tune his guitar to these really wild Tunings. And basically people were like, he never talked During the show. He didn't do anything. All he did is tune his guitar and sing. He would never say like I have any banter, which you know is my Favorite part. His first album is super pastoral. His second adds drum and bass. And this one, he said, I just want to do The album I want to do. He was incredibly frustrated with the Second album. He said, I just want me singing with a Guitar. And for a couple of songs they add a piano And later. And he's making these things called cluster Chords with this alternate tuning, Matt. Well, I just, the, the, His record company didn't even know he's Making this album, right? Yeah. Wasn't that part of it? Yes. They just, he just like gave it to him. They're like, oh, we didn't know you Were making another album kind of a Thing. And so brilliant. And basically like his, After this album, his social anxiety At this point after his third album, He has sold less than 4,000 albums

[53:00]In his whole career. Unfortunately after this, He moves back in with his parents. And I think when people really think About Nick Drake. Now they think about how his life Ended. He overdosed on anti-depressants at His parents place. And really when you look at the Album and you hear the music, A lot of people will say, well, This music is so sad if you know The story of Nick Drake. And I actually think like if you listen To this, I think this album, if You didn't know what happened with Him, I think it's incredibly Happy. I think it's a very, it's a very Positive album. Matt was talking about here, Listening at the cabin. And I thought of this and it Actually turns out who's in vinyl Suggested the same thing. Wow. Last week I had prepared an Apple shed. Unfortunately you guys kept Talking about food and made me Ill. So I never got a chance to Drink it. But an apple shed, Didn't make it again this Time. But the one thing that they Said, this was actually Nick Drake's other album. I couldn't believe it. Nick Drake was in booze and vinyl. But it's not this album. What are the odds of that? Right?

[54:00]That's crazy. Such a bummer. But the one thing they said, and I had thought about this before Even read booze and vinyl, they Said, when to spin this, it's An autumn bonfire. I thought this album was the Perfect album to put on. If you were sitting around up North at the cabin, sitting Around the fire, could you Ask for a better album for That time period or Not? No, absolutely awesome. We're all there. We just got pulled over by The cops. It's a perfect album for it. Really? Just trying to go hang out with Our nieces and nephews. Figure out which Wives are ready to swap. Nick Drake becomes, a lot of Musicians become a fan of Nick Drake. He kind of becomes an Underground artist. All of a sudden, all these Directors put the song in Their movies. Like I talked about with Garden State and it hits, Pink Moon gets on a Volkswagen Ad in like 2001. His album sales now have gone From 4,000 to 2.5 million Post-mortem. Like it's crazy. And so let's get in to and Listen to Pink Moon. I want to play first one of

[55:00]These things, which is the Album off Garden State. It kind of gives you an idea Of what his earlier album Sound like. I mean, a little more Melodic. It sounds like Vince Giralde or Vince Giralde trio. Ooh. Venus. Charlie Brown. I would listen to anything That sounds like this. I'm right. Put this on any time. But his other albums are very, Very jazzy like this. This album starts off with The Aaron. This is a big one, too. What would you say this Track is? It's a big old titular Track. It's a big titular track. A big old titular track. My favorite kind of tracks Start out with it. That's how I start. Best kind of track, yeah. Just start right with it. I mean, the guitar playing Is excellent. Yes. Right? 1999. This album sells 6,000 copies. 2000. It sells 74,000 after the Volkswagen. Did you guys,

[56:00]Did you think this was a 70s? I mean, like I legit. No. You hear Nick Drake. I think it's some Rapper from the early 2000s Or something like that. And then I hear this And I think it's some like Acoustic Vibe kind of thing. Yeah. I'm like 2008 or something Like that. I had no idea. I had no idea. No. It sounds timeless to me. I wouldn't. Yeah. It never occurred to me Even to ask when it was from. It's just music. Right. I'm going to tell you guys, This is exactly what one of My Pandora stations is, Is artists that sound Like Nick Drake. Sure. I mean, it just is Such a fun genre of music To me of like this, Where you can't quite Understand the lyrics, But you get the vibe. Like it's great. I had the experience last Night. On Tuesday night, I went out with some buddies And we were like, Wrote home and the guy Was talking about how he's Going to be on a show soon. And he was like, I actually really like Childish Gambino's First album camp. And I was like, I actually have not heard His first album camp. So last night We were making dinner. I was like, let's check out

[57:00]Childish Gambino's first Album. And the first track Was just not Making dinner music. It was good. I liked it, But it wasn't like Hanging out, Talking kind of music. And this album Is one of those things Where you're like, What do I want to just Put on while I'm hanging out Every time? Like this will work Every time. Okay. When I was driving up, I was alternating between This and Björk's album. And my wife was like, Please just go back To their album. Just go back to the drink. Yes. I'm begging you. You'd be hard pressed To like want to turn this Off. Right. Like, You know what I was Thinking about is So getting ready For this Metallica concert Coming up that we talked About, I've been trying to like Go through their Discography. You know, Go through all of them. I'm about halfway through Load. Just wait until you get Ready for it. I couldn't take it anymore. I love Metallica. They're probably my Favorite band, But I couldn't take it Anymore. I turned this Nick Drake on and I'm driving home Was like, I don't see why I would Ever choose to turn this Off.

[58:00]It's fantastic. Absolutely. Oh, it's so fun place To be. I don't want to bum Anybody out, But this is a song About a guy looking Back on his youth In the days of the past. They were unburdened Realities of the world. Hey, Rob, talk, Talk about the Composition of his album. Yeah. His guitar. And then they put a few Overdubs of some drums In the background, Maybe. And that's about it. No, just a little piano. I don't even think there's Drums on this whole album. But what's interesting About Nick Drake is if you Listen, The guitar being played, It's it's a very strange Rhythm. Like you couldn't pick This rhythm. And what he'll Literally do is change The tuning on his Guitar so he can just Strum and move his fingers Like solid up and down. And he kind of explored Different chords that Weren't played before. So you have this whole Thing. You can recognize it As a guitar, But it sounds so cool Because it's not tuned Like a regular guitar. It's really cool. But yeah, This is just him with a Guitar. Crazy. And again, It's that kind of thing We talked about with albums

[59:00]Before. By the time they get to The third album, They know exactly what They want. So he's just sliding up And down as opposed to Like moving his finger. Yeah. Sounds like My kind of guitar. If I was, I can't, I can't, I can't move my Finger. The next album he would just Be exploring alternate Tunings and what he can Make it sound like, I did a long drive this Weekend. I think I could be a Long haul truck driver. I think I could do it. You know, To get to introduce Yourself to those Lot lizards right now. Oh my God. That would be the Problem is I'd only Be in it for the lot Lizards. Would you be arguing $50 for your Deadhead or whatever? That's, That's how I figured out My drinking game was Somehow that came up And I was Fast-forwarding 30 seconds. And that was hilarious. You're fucking nuts. That's your fucking rip it off. I'm telling you, it's trucker, TikTok has got me deep. And it makes me think every time I'm driving on the road And I see these big trucks, I'm like, I think I could do it.

[1:00:00]Like eight hours, 10 hours a day, just on the road, Making a couple bucks a mile. I don't know, would you guys do that? Like, it would be fun to have like a really nice truck, Right? All right. I couldn't do it. Russell, I know you're not a big fan of driving, Plus you drive so fast these days. Do you want to be a trucker at all, Russell? I don't think I could handle maneuvering a big truck like that. It's just, it would probably give me too much anxiety. I don't think the idea of like merging on with people, Like being annoyed because you're trying to get in the way, It just, that seems like a stressful job to be merging, Exiting and entering a freeway with the, With the semi seems like a lot of work. The one or two times I've driven by myself recently, I've had the same thought. Like I think I could do long haul trucking, Like driving alone is, but I mean, What if your son was sitting in the shotgun With you the whole time? Oh, that would be rough. I mean, if he had his iPad, it'd be fine. If he had his iPad, we'd be good. We could go for 20 hours, no problem.

[1:01:00]Also, if there's mountains involved, I'm out. Like when you see those truckers in the mountains, man, Like that's, that shit is dangerous, Respect to those people. My favorite thing to do as a trucker is like, Kids would look at me and give me the honk sign And I'd go like this to them. No, and I wouldn't honk to them. They would learn a lesson that it's actually illegal. You shouldn't do that. It's like turning on the light. I was waving the one finger like a Matumbo had us. No, no, no. I will not honk the horn. Okay. No fun for me. You look forward. You look forward to your point of view. Which will. Who wants to sex the long haul truck driver? Yeah, I was thinking of making that joke And I wasn't sure how close to the other part we should. Yeah, I like it. Russell's not a skirt. He ain't a skirt. My main problem is I just drive that truck around With no trailer, getting a lot of lizards. Like, it would, there'd be no trucking involved. Here's my, here's my thing. I like driving. I don't mind driving a long way, things like that. If you had to do it for a job like day after day,

[1:02:00]I don't know if I'd, yeah, I don't know if I'd like it. I don't think I could do it. This song made me think it's like, It was just my 20th anniversary, believe it or not. My wife and I have been married 20 years this year. Congratulations to Russell on the 20th anniversary Of moving those statues. Oh my God. That story got such a big laugh the other day. Oh, it gets a laugh every year. Still? Oh, it's still. People, the howl. No, it's actually, I tell my kid again, That you had to sit in the front with a limo driver To drive up to the wedding. Everyone else is in the back and Russell's in the front. You're sitting with the driver. You're talking with the driver. I asked him, can I drink up here? He looked at me and he shrugged. I think he felt bad for me. Russell's like, sir, it's three, two. Don't worry about it. He's like, you can have some too while you're driving. Crazy. Now what is the 20 year anniversary gift? Anybody? No idea. Diamond? I don't know. You can always guess diamond. I have no idea. Horn.

[1:03:00]I went to a guy's house last night. He was having a guy's night, Like the neighborhood guy's night, And we were there and then he was like, It's actually my 13th anniversary today. And I invited 40 dudes over to my house. We're like, Zach, why? 40 people for a guy's night? Someone else could have hosted this thing. I interact with this. I don't know why the marriage didn't last. This song is so nice. I should have. Next time you're at a guy's night, Aaron, You should show them that video of that guy Getting stuck on the balloon on purpose. I bet a guy's night would go nuts for that. This is my third straight guy's night of this week And tomorrow night, someone else always Is inviting me out for beers. Too many guys. I'm on thin ice. I don't know. I'm not sure. I should say no, but they're all different people. It's really golf. Aaron, right? That's what I have to say, too. But at some point, like, isn't this going to be a problem? If every night is guy's night, No night is guy's night. You know what I mean? I know, you get it. Aaron's just reached in this world Where like his wife is no longer like,

[1:04:00]He can go to guys that as often as he wants. She's fine with it. Like this might be a new point of Aaron's life Where she's not like bent out of shape That he's not around, right? She's like, you have to go. I was like, I guess, yeah, okay. You can guess you don't need me around. Go ahead, Matt. There's this common thing about Minnesota. People move to Minnesota and they can't make friends Because everybody is just Half the people have been here their whole life And they're locked in. They've got their friends or whatever. And I just, and this is the exact reason why Because you moved to like California And then you've got all of these different friends And different groups or whatever. And I think we honestly have figured it out In Minnesota, like you need a lot of friends. You need good friends. You need them for a long time, right? But you don't need the superficial guys nights To just hang out and have a drink, Like hang out with your buddies or hang out at home. I don't know. Like I could never do, I could never do three different guys nights In three nights in a row kind of a thing. So it's rough. I mean, I did trivia on Tuesday night.

[1:05:00]And then the Wednesday night guys night was like, It's been going on since a year ago And I haven't missed yet. So I had to do that one. Well, okay. But this is the one like, but I mean, If it's every Wednesday, it's not like once a month. It's every Wednesday. No, it's once a month. It's once a month. Okay. Okay. So it lined up. It all lined up. And the trivia is only, The trivia is every Tuesday, But we don't go every Tuesday, But we didn't go all summer. This was like first week of school. Let's go back and just it all lined up. What other activities do you do other than, Other than trivia? Is there an activity or do you guys like hang out, Like talk about books or what do you do? Like push-up contest with your shirt on. I mean, here's, Let me tell the true story about the guys That last night, Back massage time is actually a lot of guys Who have much younger kids. And right now that crowd is very tired and sad. But one of the guys who started it Is a close friend of mine. And so I can't skip it Because these guys have like seven week old babies And they're just dying. You know,

[1:06:00]But you guys don't get together And talk about like being dads And like what your kids are doing. Of course you do Russell. I mean, what else do you talk about? What else do you talk about the Warriors? You can talk about the A's, You talk about the Oakland Roots. And then you go like, Oh yeah, there was that time when I got too tired And had to change my kid's diaper And I walked into a wall. Like that's what happens. I guess. Russell, they are a long pause away From talking about their low testosterone. Like it is close. I think you should go to your wife Aaron this time And be like, hey, this time I'm going out It's a fries night. She'll be like, did he say fries night? You're just out with like 10 containers Of McDonald's fries. Oh yeah. That's not bad. Not a bad idea. Things behind the sun is the longest song. This car, that guitar reminded me of love Forever changes. That was like a similar vibe, Like kind of spooky and finger-picky. You know, while we're talking about this Inviting people, I know someone that may have invited Rob To stop by our place, This place that Rob claims he never gets an invite to.

[1:07:00]He passed. He passed. Oh, he passed. He passed. He passed. Somebody who's playing wouldn't fucking land And I let her know that in fact I wanted to land Because I had a chance to get into this apartment I've been trying to get into for so long. Because the first thing I was going to do Is run upstairs and see how hot it is up there. I had reinforced the swing and everything Rob, But you passed. Next up. No. I think too the lyrics of this album Are a little underrated. You know I love you. You know I don't care. You know that I see you. You know I'm not there. It's just like, yes, fuck yes. Love this stuff. This is like a Robert Johnson song or something. Did you say Robert Johnson song? I mean, it sounds like it could be Robert Johnson song. For real? Wow. Yes, I said that. Okay, I got a I was hearing Robert Johnson We talked earlier about things that we, You know, What did you say Matt, early mid 2000s Or something where you were kind of hearing things.

[1:08:00]I thought we could talk about some of the artists That were inspired by Nick Drake into a list Of the best songs and artists ever inspired by Nick Drake. We're gonna come back to that Robert Johnson. Okay, I'm here for it. You guys didn't plan this, did you? No. No, this is wild. No. But a few artists that were inspired by him That didn't make the list, But we've heard him before, Kate Bush was inspired by Nick Drake. Wow. And Robert Smith from the Cure, I don't, I didn't really put that one together, but. I wouldn't have cut that. Yeah. I get that. It's the same tone kind of. Yeah. Nora Jones, Dave Grohl said he was inspired By Nick Drake and a few others, But one of them, the first person that I thought of When I was listening to this album was Jack Johnson. So the song is Bugle Toes here. This is what I thought of when I heard this. You guys hear this at all or not? Oh, for sure. There's just so much Jack Johnson back in the day, right? Yes. Oh, I hear it. I hear it. Do you guys,

[1:09:00]You thought that last album, A lot of people got fingered too. This is an all time. Who hasn't done hand stuff to Jack Johnson? I hear this album and John, John from Edina, we'll know this morning, But John from Edina's wife is a year older than you guys, Which is two years older than me at St. Olaf. And that class listened to more Jack Johnson. Yeah. Anybody That's the first time I've ever heard of Jack Johnson Was that something like camping thing And some of them were listening to it. So that's all I ever think about. Every time I hear Jack Johnson, It makes me remind me of telling people I have a latex allergy. So I was reading this interview with with Jack Johnson And they said, who are you? You know, Jack Johnson is a fellow surfer, by the way. Just like Matt is a surfer. They asked like Matt. Matt's watching surfer. The Olympics being like, I don't know. Yeah, anything you're doing. Caroline Marks. They were asking him,

[1:10:00]Some of your biggest influences. He listed the Beatles, Hendrix, Tribe Called Quest, actually Dylan, Ben Harper. He was listening to a bunch and then he said, I dig Nick Drake. There we go. And he said, he was so into him that he had his, He had a record label, Brushfire Records. And he was actually working on putting together A tribute album for Nick Drake That was going to feature Nora Jones, Dave Grohl And one of Matt's favorites, Eddie Vedder. And I looked for it forever. Like there was this news about this Nick Drake tribute album, But I don't think it ever came out, At least with the artist that he was trying to do it with. But I thought that would have just been amazing. But I saw this quote when they were talking to, It might have been Jack Johnson. He said, Troubadours like James Taylor And Nick Drake transform poignant tales Into minimalist melodies with a weightless ease, With a weightless ease. I just, I loved it. Somebody's probably going to say that about me On this podcast at some point. Jack Johnson did stuff with a weightless ease. I agree with that.

[1:11:00]A weightless ease. And the next person on the list, Matt, We talked a little bit about Eddie Vedder, Another person inspired by Eddie Vedder. And I heard some of like the acoustic stuff with Vedder. You know it way better than I do, But this song is guaranteed. And I think it's from Into the Wild. Oh, the guitar sounds so much like a rustle. Yep. Oh, beautiful. Love this rustle. Do you like the Vedder acoustic stuff This type of non the non Pearl Jam, Matt? For sure. Love it. I mean, you hear where he influences Pearl Jam On some of their software songs, right? Cause he's writing these songs And you can hear where he's influencing The Pearl Jam side of things. Man, I just think to sing like that, You really can't find a better man. Another one of the better men That Matt really loved was Chris Cornell. And I saw, I read this quote from Eddie Vedder. He said, Chris Cornell was over the other night. My brother had just sent us some early demos by Nick Drake

[1:12:00]And Chris and I were sitting there listening. All the places where you would naturally go up To perk up a song or create a dynamic, He would almost consciously take it down to add tension. He'd avoid the obvious. It's less spoon fed and less appealing at first, But you listen and go, wow, There's a lot of dignity in that. We would try to do that as a band And take the less traveled route. How cool is that? That's a great quote. Yeah, that's like high praise right there. So who's sitting together with Eddie Vedder Listening to Nick Drake early demos? Chris Cornell. Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder. I mean, the greatest male vocalist of all time. Greatest male vocalist. Can you imagine just how much money would you pay To be in their room, to be a fly on the wall there? All of it, everything I have. Be crazy. All six dollars. And you know what I'd say? I'd say, wow, for meeting with me and Chris Cornell, I can't think of a better man that would be here. I never heard that one. If only he brought his daughter. Yeah. But hopefully didn't just don't call him down. Hopefully there's no bugs over there.

[1:13:00]My name's not Jeremy. Next thing on the list. Oh, God, Russell, wait a minute. There's something wrong with my sink. It doesn't even have an even flow. Someone must have got stuck in there, huh? Something got stuck. Next thing on the list, the band is R.E.M. The song is the one I love. Oh, God, I forgot we were still doing this. This one goes out. It's a little different. It does have that melancholy, though. So this one, Aaron, is the reason this jumped out to me is Peter Buck was heavily influenced by Nick Drake. And he said, Okay, right. You could turn a Nick Drake album all the way up And he still sounds quiet. And the other thing he said is he called this album. We're listening to now Pink Moon, The English version of Robert Johnson's Greatest blues hits. I mean, there we go. Is that crazy? You can hear it. It's right there.

[1:14:00]You can hear it. Wow. We've all said smart stuff tonight. Yep. At least 75% of us have said smart things tonight. Hey, just go forward 30 seconds. You're going to hear me say something else smart. Is it about the three, two beer or the shlong? Shlong. Man. So me and Peter Buck should be hanging out. Listen to records together. I like it. Next song on the list. This band is the black crows. The song is she talks to angels. Yeah. What a great song. There was some super fan that never called In that listened to black crows. What do we ever happen to that guy? The black crows is one of those bands. I've never, It never occurs to me to play a black crows album. And every time I hear a black crows song, I love it. Like, but it's like I forget about them somehow. The guitar player. A lot of bands. Rich Robinson has talked about Nick Drake.

[1:15:00]He said Nick Drake was one of his favorite guitar players ever. So have a heavy influence on the guitar for the black crows. And I got another quote. I promise I'm not making these up. This is another one, Rob. I suppose I could send it to you. So you could read it and not sound like such a dumb ass, But you want me to read it? No, I'll read it. There you go, Rob. This is Rich Robinson. He said this, the guitar player from black crows. Go ahead. His playing, his tonality of his voice and his phrasing Were all like nothing I'd ever heard. And the way he put them all together was miraculous to me. It was almost like a religious experience. It was so together and beautiful. And it felt like it all melded together as one. Oh, Rob, that's beautiful, man. It was beautiful. Great work, Rob. I don't think we, we don't think we talk about Like I don't want to cut into your little bit too much, But we should keep in mind Nick Drake died at 26. He didn't make it to the 27 club.

[1:16:00]He died at 26. He made all these before you ever been to that restaurant With Nick Drake on the wall. They're going to any of there's Nick Drake on the wall. He's not on there. He's not on there. He's not on there. He's not on there. He's not on there. He's not on there. Nick Drake on the wall. He's not on there. He didn't make it in. Wow. Last song, actually there's going to be two songs on The list, but the last artist, it's one of our favorites. It's Beck. The first song I believe is our favorite drum. Is it? Or hard as a drum. Check this one out. Oh my God. Big time. So obviously there's more atmospheric music or Something. There's more to this than just the guitar, obviously, but More production. More production. But it has that same sweeping sense to it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Beck actually said that Drake and or Nick Drake was a huge

[1:17:00]Influence, especially for one of his albums. I forgot which one, but if you go C change, I Think it was C change. It was a huge influence for C change. You can go listen to the album. But this one was the one that really jumped out to Me. And I saw a lot of people comparing this to Nick Drake's music. Beck was such a big Nick Drake fan. He also covered a number of his songs. One of them was parasite, which is coming up next. Check this out. Oh, Russell, you had to pull the trigger on this List a little early. This is a Nick Drake song. Wow. Yep. This is the one that's coming up next. Russell, this is incredible. You've done it again, Russell. So when it comes to being inspired by Nick Drake, Who did it better? Beck did it better. Russell, for real. This is like a top five list of the last 100. You know what? I had to jump in early, Rob, because Aaron brought Robert Johnson bit. I was like, how can I wait another few minutes?

[1:18:00]You had to. You made you pull it. Incredible. You set that up on a T and you knocked it Out of the park. Right there. Just knocked it out of the park. Next time that happens, think about baseball. Very wet infield, but you knocked it out of The park. Why did they got a water now that didn't feel like that, Man? So dumb. I showed my daughter. I was like, here's the number of texts where it Says infield in it. She was like, what are you guys doing? I was like, it's complicated. Here's that song. Did Nick Drake cover Beck? Who knows? Parasite. Time machine. Rivets. Smoke. Sounds like the Beatles, right? Big time. I heard the Beatles. I heard Norwegian Wood on an earlier song, Too. And that's Remember once when we talked about how what songs Come up after the album is done on Spotify? Yeah. Norwegian Wood by the Beatles was what popped up First on my Spotify after this album. Yeah, I believe that.

[1:19:00]What do you think? Speaking of parasites, What's the worst animal to find on your body? I'm going to go leech. Leech? Leech is pretty bad, right? A tech. A tech. Oh, that's true. No, that's true. That's right. And the head's in and starting to swell. Yeah, that's right. Russell, what's the worst thing to find on your body? You know what? You know what? An animal slash bugs really bothered me When I was younger. We're centipedes. You guys remember centipedes? Can you imagine you wake up, Like you wake up in Rob's haunted cabin And there's a centipede on you. Like crawling out of his nose. Oh, Russell. I'm not dead at the cabin. Oh, sorry. I'm one of the skeletons. Oh, sir. I thought that's what we were doing. This makes me think you have seen Indiana Jones. What are you saying? Centipedes out of the nose. That's very Indiana Jones focused. Oh, gross. Free ride. Oh, I know this song. The Fog Hat one, right? Yep. Take it easy. It's gold nearing that Fog Hat, right? Shit, who does?

[1:20:00]No, that's Fog Hat. 100%. I can tell you it's Fog Hat. You're right, Aaron. Yeah, slow ride. Leave yourself. Who does free ride? Oh, free rides. Egg or winter group. Oh, there you go. There we go. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for talking over here. Free ride. Guys, this is something that Russ would never buy at the grocery store. Harvest breed. Harvest bread. Harvest breed. Russ, would you ever buy a bread called harvest bread? It's like a green bread. It's like a wheat bread, right? Doesn't matter. You can't see, Russell, you can't see the bread. It's called harvest bread. Would you buy it? Oh, yeah. That seems like a very logical name for it. Right. That's what you do before you make the bread. You get seeds in it, Russell. The worst kind. Like Dave, can I just say this right now? Hey, Dave, of Dave's Killer Bread, you can suck my balls. The number of bad pieces of bread I've had, Because your ass exists out there. Dave's Killer Bread. He sold it. He sold it, dude. The quality is going to weigh down. He sold it. Never been up, Aaron. Dave's Killer Bread is terrible.

[1:21:00]It is. It's fine. Bread for people who hate food. Okay. No, it is bad. Dave's Killer Bread, I've had more bad pieces of bread Because of Dave. Go fuck yourself. Dave's Killer Bread. Have you had the white bread? The Dave's White Bread is fine. It's good. No. I didn't know there was... There's Dave's White Bread? Yeah, dude. Dave's White Bread is good. My wife has been screwing me over In the Dave's Killer Bread category. Yes, the White Bread is good. She's like nice big slices are good for a BLT. I had a beef bacon BLT yesterday, guys. Have you ever had beef bacon? This stuff is delicious. Wow. What beef bacon? Beef bacon. It comes from the belly. It's kind of like brisket, mostly. Oh. It reminds me I'm going to smoke a brisket To my relationship. Oh. So good. Oh. From the morning, kind of a happy song to end the album. So album's beautiful. It's great. Great. This is that time where you're like, Well, what do I want to hear to make me Feel better about anything? Oh, it's this guitar song right here. And it was beautiful. Lovely.

[1:22:00]So fun. And I got to say it's so fun That everybody enjoyed this album. It's been a while. This is great. Yeah. If someone told me... Everyone's allowed to like what they like, Don't like what they... If someone told me like, man, this sucks. Yeah. I would have to think there's something off. There's that you would not want to go to a guy's Night with that person. Yeah. For sure. That's the thing what I mean? Especially once a month. Oh my God. I don't think a true guy's night can be planned Every, like on a calendar. I don't feel like guys would ever do that. Can you imagine your long haul truck driving And you picked up some lot lizards And put this on and you're driving down the freeway And they're like, turn this shit off. What would you do? Honey, I don't like that shit. She puts out her cigarette. Hey, what's your name? Marge? Large Marge. Get out of my car. Yeah, but shit. Most of the guys I know can't even plan a fantasy Football draft once a year. Let alone have something once a month.

[1:23:00]I have texted you two weeks in a row saying I promise it'll be set up this week. I am breaking promises to Matt And I feel bad about it. Okay. But Matt is calling you out this week. I promise it's going to be ready. Okay. And you have the Rob. Guarantee. Oh, that's. That name. We got a clamp. Okay. You have the guarantee. All right. Let's get into the rating system. Now this album is all the way up to 2020. Now that's the year we started. Oh, it's two thousand and three. I was going to say 2020, almost a palindrome. This is 203. Okay. Makes you think. Do we think this album belongs at 203? It's beautiful. It's lovely. It makes us feel good. It's, you're going to listen to this album. This is kind of like a Van Morrison to me Where I'm going to put it on more often. Is that a rolling well tone? Does it belong to the two in two thousand and three Two hundred and three wherever we are. Or is this a rolling grown? We don't like this album.

[1:24:00]Okay. We don't think this album should be up this high. It should be lower on the list, Which of course would be a higher number. Okay. And you can think about that. Like interest rates going down, down. Okay. Going to buy that new place. It's going to be great. All right. Flames went higher. Exactly. All right. Hey, it's the new 4%. And I get that joke too. Okay. Oh, smart thing. I guess what everybody go to 30 seconds from right now. See if I say some smart shit. Cause I bet I do. Rob, do you want us to write down your final joke again? So it sounds all right. Five. Six. Seven. Thirty. E equals MC squared. I think it's what it is. Damn. Time is relative, as they say. Oh, I got reminded with my relatives at the cabin. Is this a rolling bone? Shouldn't be this low. Two thousand two and three two oh three. It should be way higher on the list. Get it up there. Okay. Give it a little boost. Okay. It's getting on the surfboard. Throw the rope in the boat, man.

[1:25:00]I see the rope in the boat. You're going to see it this year. Man, hopefully we've been working. We worked on it tonight. You got it, man. Come on. I believe it. Okay. I believe in you. Matt, what do you think? Rolling well toned rolling bone to rolling grown. Nick Drake pink moon. I sounded like I was going to say more there, but I'm not. I promise. I was waiting for it. I was waiting. Look, I think, look, I two 14. We got wildflowers. I think wildflowers time. Penny's better than this album. But this is such a good album. This is such a good album and I'm using my I'm not using my air quality. Like this is a full on album, Not like three songs and then some fillers. Like this is a great album. I'm trying to look at this list. And we've got from 203. I've got to like. Cripes. What was I, where was I looking at? Maybe like. To. 38. Maybe. Like we have got a murder's role. We've got so many great. There's just unbelievable albums. I think we're finally getting to the album portion where it's like,

[1:26:00]It's not because some artists need something at the, You know, to be on this list somewhere. We're just getting to actual albums here all of a sudden. So I'm going to say it's rolling well toned. It probably should be way higher. You know, but this is a great album. And it's going to fit in perfectly with what's coming up next, Other than Tom Petty at two 14. That should be higher in this one. But I've been saying that for the last 50 albums. So I don't know. I don't know. I think it's rolling well toned right here at 203. Russ, you're going to start your album, Your summer music tour soon. Obviously you're a master of music. But guess what? We don't give a shit about the music. We couldn't care less about this album. We care about the list. Russell, does this belong at 203 on the list? What do you think? Rolling well toned rolling bone or rolling grown? I was cutting a couple of different ways on one. Part of me wondered if it's almost so stripped down that That it might be fairly ranked. Like how high can you put it when it's really just the guy in the guitar, Right?

[1:27:00]Russell, when you said, Let's go ahead. I'll say my joke at the end. Go ahead. Sorry. But I thought it almost might be too basic, But that's like kind of the beauty of it, I think. But to me, I was like blown away, Shocked by how much I enjoyed this. And if I can't call an album that I enjoyed way more than I Thought rolling boned should be higher. The whole point of the exercise in the list is To find something like this that just blows your, Knocks your socks off. And it's so fun to listen to that you want to listen to again. I will listen to this again. I'll probably listen to this again tomorrow. I'll probably listen to it when I get, When I can't handle Metallica anymore in a couple of days. So I'm going to come back this is rolling bone. It's got to be higher on the list. It was great. Russell, wait, I gotta wait for my 30 seconds. Five. You want me to text you that again? The two jokes. Russell, when you said stripped down and rank, It reminded me that lot lizard. I had to kick out of my cab the other day. P.U. Aaron.

[1:28:00]Hey, you have a, any multiple of the 32nd before he says I'm smart again. Okay. What do you think rolling well-toned, Rolling bone, rolling grown, pink moon, Nick Drake. I can't say anything better than Matt or Russell said. This is one of those albums that lives outside of time And space and rankings to me. It's beautiful. I love it. I'll listen to it again. I think I'll give it a, I think I'm going to give it a rolling bone. I think it should have been higher. We've heard stuff that's not as good as this one. We're going to hear stuff that's better, But where this list stands right now, I'm going to give it a rolling bone. Unfortunately, you guys are incorrect. Okay. It seems to happen every week. All right. This gets a rolling unique tone. Okay. If any of you, if you played a Nick Drake song, You'd be able to recognize it. There could be a Nick Drake song. You've never heard you play. You'd be like, well, I bet that's Nick Drake. And there's not many artists we can say that for. Okay. This is an album. It all sounds the same, But that sound is something we haven't heard. It's this beautiful like uplifting. You don't even have to,

[1:29:00]It doesn't matter what you're singing. It doesn't matter what the lyrics are. It's beautiful stuff. Next up, next week, What kind of cylinders get lines on them And then Kanye sings about them? What? Graduated cylinders. We have graduation by Kanye West. I just remember that you guys aren't science teachers, So graduated cylinders. That was never into science classes. That is a real stretch. Graduated cylinders is not something you talk about Maybe a couple of times a week, And it's actually pretty common to talk about, Where the fuck was this theme song? Every goddamn week. Just play it out. Play the credits. Okay. I'm going to play it. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to hit the buttons And we'll see what theme song is. Do all those parents out there. Nice. We nailed it. The Olympics. Hey, Olympics. Sound to collect. We'll see you in two years. Okay. I tried to start a track race, But everybody was so sad. It was called the Nick Drake Relays.

[1:30:00]Wow. You've been sitting in that one.
