Beastie Boys: Check Your Head (1992)

Beck Did It Better Podcast 1992
About this episodeFolks, we are ditching our guests and talking about the Beastie Boys 3rd album and it will make you say "DAMN!"  We talk about our various types of whips, the worst airplane movies, and Rob tries to talk Pat O'Brien.   Then we sing along with Snow and go on a comment rabbit hole. Rob goes on a winning streak, Matt talks inflatables, and Big Daddy takes on the big Easy.  Then we talk the boys playing their own instruments, the great music of the 90s, and whether or not an eclectic album is a good thing.  Next week we are talking New Order "Power, Corruption, and Lies" and you should also lis

[0:00]I want to ask you guys if you're in humidifier season right now, like I am, but I got to talk to Aaron about humidifiers. This is the first of a double header. If you got to ask Aaron, then save it. We can't do it twice. Skip it. Okay. Skip it. I don't know. A lot of people are asking, hey, can I have that humidifier talk twice? Guess what, you sick piggies? Save it. You only get it once. Okay. Just like, I can't even think of a clue. Just like Gargania. Oh, I'm going to save it. Oh, God, this is a disaster already. In 2020, four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums decided by Rolling Stone magazine. I just realized I think that in part might be where I wake up Jenny every time. That's a bummer that the first word of the podcast is the one that wakes her up. Oh, well. If I were to compare you at MLB Closer, it wouldn't be Eric Gargania. It'd probably be Rod Beck. Remember him? He had the big mustache on the Giants. He kind of had like a little bit of a flowing, what do you call that haircut? The mullet. The mullet, yeah.

[1:00]Russell, you asked me if I remember Rod Beck. The answer is no. I have no idea who you're talking about. You don't know Rod Beck? Giants Closer? Hello. Hey, you want to buy this giant car? Well, I'm here to get it done. I'm a Giant Closer. Wait, are you a giant or are you selling giant cars? I don't get it. A giant Keira Sedgwick comes in. Hey, I'm the Giant Closer. Oh, my God. This resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music, exclaimed the order, and led us to begin this podcast. We are all far from experts. I'm adding it in, and we promise to do almost no research. All opinions are our own, unless you disagree. Please sit back and enjoy. Beck did it better. Rod Beck did it better, closing out the ninth in meaningless games in the early 2000s. Why was San Francisco called the Giants? Why is their baseball team called the Giants? Well, they came from New York. They were the New York Giants, and they moved to San Francisco in like the 50s or 60s, right? But what's giant about New York? Buildings, maybe?

[2:00]I don't know. You tell me. You live there. Well, I do live in the Burj Khalifa. Isn't their football team called the Giants, too? Oh, my God. The football team is called the Giants. Why is it called the New York Giants? Matt. Put that in your vape pipe and take a big monster hit off of that one, Rob. Oh, my God. Can I show you guys this? This is no joke. So I showed these guys the other day. Guys, vape technology right now is out of control, okay? I wish, to be honest right now, I wish I was a 17-year-old kid. Maturing in this world of vape technology would be so great. Not only did I get a vape at the store the other day that has a double chamber. Look at this. There are two different strains. One is Maui Waui. And then look at this, Matt. You flip it on the other side. Rob's flipping over like a vape. Sour Diesel. But guess what? It's not one or the other, Russ. It's both at the same time all the time. You're going double barrel. No. Double barrel. Both barrels all the time. And then on the other side, there's a switch that says S&M. And I went on chat. GBT. You asked what it meant.

[3:00]And it means one is smooth. If you want just a tiny smooth hit. And one is M for monster. Okay? We're going Nicki Minaj on this bad boy if you want a monster one. And guess what, Russell? I only do the smooth. The monster's too big. It makes me cough. But let's try it right now. When you go, I got to ask while you're taking the monster hit. When you go, like, do you have to ask them to, like, bring out, like, multiple vape pens so you can examine them from behind the desk? Or how does that work? Russell, I can't take it. The monster hit was too much. That's a face I've never seen Rob do before. I've never seen that even. The monster at the beginning of the podcast. I mean, that was crazy. Listen, Russell, no. The way you do it is you have a little iPad and you go in. And then, but this place didn't even have one. So I just said, well, tell me what you got. And she goes, I've got one where it's two strains at once. And I go, yes, that's what I want. I was like, I've never had anything like this. This is like when you get, it's like, oh, do I want chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream? Hey, I thought all those vapes and everything were. We're getting like pushed out of your fair city.

[4:00]Or was that just. No, no, no. This is from a legal place. Gotcha. Yeah. So I go in and it's very high tech. Like all the bodegas or whatever that just had it be sitting behind the counter. Those can't get them there. No. Yeah. Those places all got closed down, but I still buy my whippets there. So to make, but to actually make my whipped cream. We are up to album 261 and from 1992. You know what? You guys come out. We'll go on a trip together. It'll be fun. We're on the album that has Aaron wondering if he's a. Funky middle manager. Funky middle manager. He's a funky middle manager. He's not the funky boss. He's, he's got a funky boss, but he's kind of a funky middle manager. It's check your head by the BC boys. Okay. Oh what? Russell, can I do an alternate take on that? Bring it. You want to want me to queue you up? Yeah, please hit it. Russell. This is like when the nurse shows up with chopsticks at school. You know what she's going to do? What's that? Check your head. You could have. You could have lice. Check your head.

[5:00]Yeah, you could have lice, Russell. I forget. You guys don't work in a school every year. There's a lice outbreak in the school and it's all we can talk about as teachers. Don't get middle school parents like aren't middle schoolers past lice. I thought that was like an elementary school thing. I work in a K through 12. So there is lice outbreaks in the lower school. And then all their siblings were like, oh my God, I just taught him an hour ago. Did you start itching your head? It's crazy. I've got, so let's what guys, let's just get right into it. Let's turn on the radio. Let's see what's going on. Why mess around? This song is dedicated to everybody's favorite suburb to go out to get something to eat in. Out for a night on the town.

[6:00]So put us on the list. And then they went to sit down. And then they waited around half an hour. Turns out hostesses have all the power. She never even sat them in a section. The crazy thing is it's gave Russell an erection. He waited to get in the restaurant. But this is just what turns a Russell on. He likes it when he gets a boss around. He's treated like dirt, but that's exactly what he wants. It's been a half hour. It's not. Oh, that's so terrible. I'm going to bust. So I want to hear about the greatest. That was a song about how the hostess is not letting Russell in secretly goes Russell direction. Russell, we went out to Sarah and I put the boys home to play some video games. We went out to Red Cow last night. It was going to be 40 minutes. It was great. It was going to be 40 minutes. And I said, look, there's two spots in the bar. These people are getting up. Let's go. We jumped up five minutes in there.

[7:00]We got to the bar, sat at the bar, had a great time, had a 60, 40 burger. I sent you guys the recipe. Now, Aaron, it is time officially. Now, Aaron, you missed a song there. Russell and the hostess giving him an erection. But guess what? You have to listen to hear it here. And that's your punishment. You don't know. You don't get to read this. No, because right now we do have to play a quick game show. It's everybody's favorite game on the front end. The game show is where was Aaron? Aaron, what were you up to? We got to know. You know, it's everybody's favorite question. Oh, well, it's been a night. Anna was hosting a ladies cookie party. And so I was with my friend Garrett, who has some Minnesota ties. He's lived there, but now he lives here. And Garrett and I were babysitting our kids while the ladies were serving up cookies to some other ladies. Although there is a this is like they do this party every year and they advertise it. I don't think they explicitly advertise it as a mom's cookie exchange, but it kind of. It kind of is a mom's cookie exchange. Yeah, but every year one dad shows up the cookie exchange.

[8:00]Nice. And he was there again this year. So they were doing that and we were babysitting the kids and we did watch the Ohio State Indiana game. And then I have a new laptop. So I've been trying to get that set up. Go ahead. Oh, well, that's a fun. That sounds like a fun night. Matt, do you think we could add Rosie's wife at Gmail dot com to the back to the better host text chain? And then maybe she just let us know. And she doesn't. Doesn't have anything going on. And maybe we can record on those nights. Listen, I was free last night. I was I could have been on earlier last night. Someone else. I was up. I was up at five a.m. This morning. But guys, later in the podcast, you're going to find out how the my science Olympiad meet went. OK, we're going to find out. It's a little teaser. A little teaser. Some podcast hosts run around their house. Some podcast hosts run their house. Yeah, exactly. Podcast hosts that runs around his house. Hey, listen, my guests are still here. And I was like, you guys. No, they're. They're fucking not. They fucking are.

[9:00]Yes, they are. While you're recording this. Yes. I said I have to go. This is Aaron Holyrood. This is embarrassing. My rolling going is a draft of our favorite panties. Oh, God. Well, they can't hear me. Get those guests out of there. They're in the. I'm in the studio, man. No, I told him. I was like, I got to get in the studio. I love you guys. I'm out. Like, it's good. Yeah, because I know you're going to say the thong, but it's the two that come up like it's like, oh, it's like a thong, but then it's kind of going way out. Listen, I've got three guys here. Stop playing their instruments. I've got Matt in Minneapolis. Matt, how are you doing? Good, Rob. You're sweeter than a cherry pie with ready whip topping. Wow. Oh, wow. Thank you so much. Oh, ready whip. Is that out of the jar? Like the. That's the. Yep. That's the one. No, but that's the can. That's what I use all the time. What is the other one? I'm thinking of cool whip. Cool whip. We were. I'll tell you what. We were a big cool whip family growing up. Hello. Shocker. I think we've had a shocker. Oh, my God. Hey. You know what, Russell? For saying shocker to my cool whip family.

[10:00]Fuck you. Okay. Are you still a big cool whip house now? I think we've talked about this, right? No. He's got like a ninja that makes all this stuff for him now. Oh, right. He's got like advanced technology to make fancy whip cream. Guys, I have moved up in the world. We are now a big ready whip house. Okay. Wait. What's the difference? Tired. One comes out of a can. One comes out of like a bucket. Yeah. The jug that you always put leftovers in that you never know what's in there. You open up. God damn. One. You got to shake up and flip it upside down. Down and spray it. The other one is like a jug. Like a. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. The jug. Like my grandma would keep like shortening in there. Yeah. Or there'd be like animal parts. Like, oh, there's bacon grease in that ready whip container. Yeah. I've got Matt in Minneapolis. Or I'm sorry. I've got Russell in Minneapolis. Russell, how are you doing? Rob, I'm the long leaner. Russell, the cleaner. I'm the illest podcaster from here to Gardena. Wow. Yeah. That's the Russell. That was so good. Guys, we're kind of like the BC boys. We're beastly. Well if I was remember that show Beauty and the Beastie Boys where the BC boys

[11:00]Lived in the sewer and dated Sarah Connor. You know what I mean? Like, did you guys see Sarah Connor on volume one of this season of Stranger Things? No. Sarah Connor shows up. Also, I had been out at the bar and they were showing Children of the Corn. Sarah Connor also in Children of the Corn. I did not realize that. So I've got I've had a lot of Linda Hamilton in my life lately. More than usual, which is already a lot. I've got Aaron out in California now. Aaron recently. Aaron's looking to make an investment. And he said, hey, how much would it cost to buy a singing ensemble? You know, a bunch of people that sing. And I said, you mean like a choir? And Aaron said, OK, fine. How much would it cost to acquire a singing? Aaron, how are you doing? Hey, what you want? I'm here trying to do this podcast with you guys. I do my best. All right. Let's get ready. Let's get right into the voice. And I appreciate that you really dug deep into the lyrics on this album.

[12:00]Yeah like you really pulled for that. Listen, you hang out with my kid for a while. See what kind of fucking listen. Hey, guys, let's check our heads. The kismet of Rob talking about giving blowjobs and the emails leaking about Trump blowing Bubba is chef's kiss. So this, of course, is from our number one fan, Magic Mike, who knows exactly how to get out of the air. Magic Mike 69. There was. Yep. There was a while ago. Where I was talking about whether or not I would be good at oral sex. And then almost immediately, the news comes out that there was a rumor that Trump was giving fellatio to Bill Clinton. Did you guys hear the rumor that Trump gave only on this podcast? I can't. Let's pick something else. Russell, this is real news. No, it's not. So what's the clock? What's the clock? Moving on. You guys are just going to ignore this voicemail. Now, let me ask you this. Did you ever see that picture of the two Detroit Lions fans? Because this is one of the funniest pictures in the whole world. And I won't show it to you where there's two guys who are Detroit Lions fans, and they're in the parking lot of the Ford Stadium.

[13:00]And one is eating the other guy's ass. Oh, God. It's one of the funniest. I'm just telling you, it's one of the funniest things that you're ever going to see in your whole life. Only because they were like, this Lions game is not going well. It's time. This is one of the worst games I've ever seen. I can't possibly imagine how this day could get better. Yeah. I do have one idea. But Aaron, rolling on. How's it going with you? I just, I don't even know where to begin after that. Look up the picture. It's one of the funniest things you'll ever see. I'm not going to do that. You guys, you would think that it's been since what before Thanksgiving that we've gotten together. You would think I had thought carefully about what I want to say to you about my rolling going. But my kid put my brain in a blender today, so I'm doing my best. Yeah, he does that most Saturdays. But I do want to say I got a new, I have a new eggnog style.

[14:00]I want to hear about everyone else's eggnog style. Oh my God. Do I want to hear about your eggnog style? If I said no, I said, no, we don't have time. I don't want to hear about your eggnog style. Literally, our listeners would be cut in half. This is why people are here. Here's the thing. I love eggnog. I try to wait until Thanksgiving before I start drinking eggnog. Although this year you get a shorter window between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The window's not as long. I should have started earlier. And I do now drink eggnog with alcohol mixed in generally. And I've gone through a few iterations. We used to do some Captain Morgan. And then I've tried whiskey. And then I have tried tequila. Russell, I know Russell, you're not a tequila drinker. That's going to fuck. Aaron, can I just say this? If I came to your house and you're putting tequila in the eggnog, I think it would just become an intervention automatically. I think we would have to have a conversation about that. That's some hardcore shit to put in there. What if it's a tequila that has no label on it, too?

[15:00]It's from his tequila club. It's just a bottle with no label. Yeah, it's something that you normally see in a cowboy movie that they throw in the air and shoot. You know what I mean? It's one of those bottles. It's got a little age on it, a little caramel. It could work. And I finally settled last year or the year before. I finally settled on. Oh, goddamn. I got the worm in my eggnog. You know what I mean? That's not something you want to hear. Sorry, Aaron, but that joke could not wait. No, you got to do that. I had finally settled. Aaron, it's just like when I was on the space station. Could not wait. Because you're because you're a list that joke, Aaron. I broke in. Not worth it. I'm going to do it right now. I had to jot it down. I'm bad in 500. That would be in the Hall of Fame. No doubt. Yes, I had settled on cognac and specifically for me, Hennessy last year in the eggnog. And then so you're a cognac guy, not a cognac guy. Oh, I guess I should say cognac, right? I do say just what you know, you just you've got your way of saying things.

[16:00]I have my ways. I don't know. Things just whatever comes out, I don't know. That's a fair question, man. And I think actually there are a lot of there are a lot of people out there who think that Hennessy is not, in fact, the finest cognac. Now, Aaron, don't get in your head. Double question. And check your head to the finest cognac in the world. And I don't know if it is. I'm not I'm not a connoisseur of it. But. I do like it mixed in with the eggnog. But what I have what I've decided actually is what I prefer. I like a cognac with an eggnog chaser. I don't like I don't I don't want to mix them. I like to do a shot of cognac and a shot of eggnog. That's a nice little thing at the end of the night. When I'm watching crazy. When I'm watching Bill Murray's Very Murray Christmas, then I'm set. Like, I feel it feels perfect. I'm just good. I had a long stretch. I'd say like a two, probably two and a half year stretch where I. Was a Jameson neat and a water guy. I would just get like straight shots of Jameson, sip it or shoot it, drink water.

[17:00]Yeah, Aaron, what you do is like ten times more fucked than that. Yes, it's not even close. Can I just tell you, I'll just say I'll just say four words shot of eggnog. That's all you need to hear that story is fucked. You could be doing anything. You could be like, oh, I rescued these orphans from a burning bus. And then I had a shot of eggnog. You'll be like, what the fuck? What are you doing? I think there's like they're nice mixed together, but you deconstruct it even better, man. It's just delicious. It's perfect. It's like, why not deconstruct it all the way? Get some milk. Get some. I'll get whatever else. Some eggs. Like, what is eggnog again? We have this conversation every year. What is eggnog again? It's milk and eggs. I've never made a pancake scratch. I think it's heavy cream and eggs. Maybe I've never actually made it. Okay. Eggnog. Inside question mark. Well, whatever it is, does not sound good for Rob's tummy. Yeah. I think it's good for Rob. Yeah. Eggnog inside. How about eggnog recipe?

[18:00]I'm completely out on any egg based. I don't mind like an egg foam, like a gin fizz or whatever those drinks are. But eggnog, Tom and Jerry's, those types of thick holiday drinks. I can't do it. I'm out on that stuff. Wow. Can't do it. I've never had a Tom and Jerry. I've heard people talk about the Tom and Jerry's recently, and that seems wild. I've never tried that one. That's like cookie dough on top of a. I'm out on that stuff. I'm out on that stuff.

[19:00]I'm out on that stuff. So I'm out on that stuff. I'm out on that stuff. I'm out on that stuff. I don't know. I don't know how to do it.

[20:00]If you looked over and you saw what's his name sitting on The can with his eyes all bad right After he started shooting up everything. Yeah, that would be that should not be on a plane. Am I right? It's not even offered. Yeah, I don't understand. Plus the other problem is that those movies are really good. We should not be watching good movies on a plane. A plane movie experiences for one of the where you're like, Well, fuck, I'm not going to see that in the theater. That looks fucking. I don't know about that one. I don't want to pay the money. Yeah, all three are great. Like if you like cinematic masterpieces. They're all three great movies, but they should not be Watched on a plane. No, they should not be watched on a little four by four TV Screen on the back of the way. Did you see someone watching these? Are you just they were in there? I thought about watching them just to say like, hey, who's Got two thumbs and watches full metal jacket on a plane. But I'm like, I can't do it. We've talked about it. I don't want to go out watching full metal jacket or Platoon on a plane. I can't do it. Matt, you were talking about a four by four TV.

[21:00]I that'd be so hard to watch because it'd be bouncing Around everywhere. I mean, you're out four by four. Right. You're out. Russell, where were you? You went to New Orleans. We went to New Orleans. We did a bunch of fun things. One of the things I wanted to show with you guys, we Went to one brunch, actually one brunch, one dinner Where it was jazz brunch or jazz dinner. So essentially they had like a trio of musicians walking Around the restaurant and they would ask you, Hey, Is there anything you want to hear? They would play right to your table while you're Eating and drinking and it was great. But we went to commander's palace. It's like one of the most famous restaurants in the World in New Orleans and we were there for a jazz brunch And they came by and they said, what would you like to hear? So I'm curious if you guys read a jazz brunch and they're Playing, they'll play jazz music. They'll play pop song. They'll play whatever you ask for. Right. What would you have asked for if they came up to you And said, what do you want to hear? Maybe I'll start with what I picked and then I'll Give you guys some time to think about it.

[22:00]Is that fair? I got it. Oh man. This wouldn't be a little bit wrong the spot. What do you say it would be so funny in New Orleans though to say when the saints come marching in? You know what I mean? I think that would be a good bit of just like when the Saints come marching in. Maybe when the levies break. Oh, wow. Oh, Jesus. Jesus. It's not loud. Sorry. Wow. Hurricane by Bob Dylan. I was going to go in my role the decks of top 500 Albums. I said, can you do any Van Morrison? I thought that was a great pick. What do you guys think Van Morrison? It's a good one. Yeah, I love that. So they're playing any they're playing any song in The jazz version. Yeah. So they had there was a stand up base. There was a trumpet and there was I think another Horn and then one guy was kind of singing if he Wasn't playing the horn, but yeah, they did. They stood up and they talked it over and they Did a brown eyed girl in the jet like in a jazz Version of Van Morrison. It was fantastic. Okay. So I got to know what would you guys ask for if You could ask for a jazz song, but You're there. Maybe you want to hear a pop song.

[23:00]What would you guys want to hear from like a jazz Trio at brunch? The trio. I would want to hear it's magic. My two recordings of it's magic are Dinah Washington and Eric Delphi, but I want to hear It's magic. It's magic. Yeah. So you can find Dinah Washington. It's magic. Dinah Washington. Yeah. You don't you know what don't hear a lot of Dinahs anymore. I would say the two places I know Dinahs, Dinah Washington and the train. Dinah Shora. Somebody's. Oh, yeah. It was similar. But wasn't there a Dinah work? You know what? I was working all live long day, Aaron. That's what I was talking about. Yeah, I was thinking about it. Okay. I was like, yeah. All right. So what am I doing? Dinah Washington. Dinah Washington. It's magic. I got distracted by that joke there. Yeah. You know what, Aaron? That one. That one was just like one of my Favorite work Lakers worth worthy it. Oh, this is so fucking crazy. What? This would be amazing to hear.

[24:00]Yeah. This is crazy that you know this song, Aaron. Did you expect anything less? This would be amazing. But Aaron is just, Aaron just like pulled Your pants down and spanked you in Front of your whole audience. I mean, if you get like the trumpets Playing this, yeah, and you got the bass Playing the skies. Wow. This would be it for me. Matt Rob, what would you guys have Chosen? You know, you had who did you have Their Louis Armstrong? You had him playing the trumpet up There, which made me think the best, The best Louis Armstrong song in my Opinion is Lovey and Rose. His version and to hear that is pretty Soft for like a brunch. Can't beat it. You know, so to have to hear that by Some in New Orleans band right next To you would be pretty Sweet, I think, especially if they Put their own little spin on it.

[25:00]But I don't know, maybe otherwise Maybe like mighty boss Tones like that. Yeah, some with a lot of Horns guy. Yeah. How about you Rob? What would you have picked? You know, because you know, we are We're a host of a music podcast. It's true. I know. And the problem is Russell, I Seriously had a great one about 30 seconds ago. But as you can see, the switch Is turned to an M and I think I have forgotten it. I think that's on me. What would I want to hear? Hmm. Well, just anyway, just listen To the Louis first thing. Oh, I'm in New Orleans. I'm having one brunch and one dinner. This is plain. I'm hammering four to five Deviled eggs, which Aaron is actually Ten deviled eggs. The three musicians are standing At your table looking at. Yes, and the pressure's on. Oh, yeah. They're not they're not playing In the corner. They walk up to your table

[26:00]And play it for you. Real quick. Great. Ready? Yes. Oh, that's pretty good. It's so nice. God, you guys are way more romantic Than me. I was going to say, do you look Wonderful tonight? But I don't really like that song. Huh? This is so good, man. Oh, it's just beautiful. I listen to the song a lot. This is a great song. Russell, this stresses me out Because you guys, I should have A song ready. You should. And I was kind of stressed Out too, Rob. I was thinking I've got to come Up with something in my my my Head. I said, what do we talked About for the best brunch? And to me, it was Van Morrison. I was like, that's going to be Good. And people liked it. There were some ladies having Birthday dinner or brunch Right next to us. They said that was a great Choice. That's so good. I would have been like, hey, I want it into the mystic. You know what I mean? So they couldn't have done that Too. Yeah, that's what I was Thinking, Rob. And so I left it up to them. I said, can you do any Van? Okay.

[27:00]No, no, no, I want his new Stuff. I want his new jazz fluid Stuff. So I thought I would Share one other experience. We went to there. There's Bourbon Street, which Is where they're all the bars Are that's kind of a crazy Atmosphere. We went. We did the piano, the famous Paddle, Brian's piano bar for A day. We for about an hour or so. We went in there and me. You and me. We should get together. We should do cocaine. Is it that bad of right? You and me. We're gonna and I did request. Who'd we listen to a few Janice Joplin? I request Janice Joplin. They did Bobby McGee for us So that was great. So good. You know what I thought was cool Is they did. They played out of the Out of the Beatles. Someone was just Beatles. They did Rocky Raccoon. That was the song. Oh, wow. And out of all the black Mind hills I've decoded their Live young boy named Rocky Raccoon. I would say I mean listen. Listen is woman ran off with Another guy.

[28:00]You go. The best Rocky in the eye. Rocky didn't like that said I'm gonna get that boy. Cook. I can tell you got rocky was Clobber land. They walled in the town. Hey, room at the look saloon. I'm gonna give you a left hook. I can't hit it now. Rosie, you got to hit it. But I can't right now because My testosterone is low. There you go. Checked into his room. Listen, guys, Only two to five years ago. God damn. Okay. Can we get to what I want To talk about? Come. I know what you guys are Doing. Now I get what you're doing. You see what I have pulled up And you're trying to guess what? We need what's coming up. There's none. You cannot. It seems walk. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to do this. I'm going to put you guys to The left. I'm on the right. They can decide who They want to listen to. Russell goes to the pad of Ryan. Have you not called yourself?

[29:00]See, it's all your guys' fault. This is not me. Have you not learned that Anytime you try to choose Things that you want and Then you try to do like one Against the other like baseball Versus non-baseball. That's true. It's always true. It seems it turns out I'm Wrong all the time. So I I'm do now listen. You go to the pad of Brian Bar for brunch and all of a Sudden you just you go in And this is playing over The speaker to another person. You listen to you listen To our entire rendition of Rock. You're going to interrupt them For a while. Guys, you don't remember the Path to play. Oh, my God. This is no moment. We're battle. Brian was calling a co-worker And saying you're so hot. Go into the bathroom and Leave me a voice. Can you imagine how hot She must have been? God damn for me to call

[30:00]A co-worker creepy Paddle. Brian is. I mean like Cripes. What's that? How creepy paddle. Brian is. Well, okay. You can think about it like That if you don't have fun. Right. Okay. Or you could think what Could possibly make me tell A co-worker go to the bathroom And leave a voicemail. I got to tell you. It's not many things. She had to be crazy. So one other thing we did. We went over to an air cold. He's crazy. She's she's 100% normal. And just and he's just a Drunk dumb fucker. You're right. I'm not back in a battle. Brian. I don't want to get back Myself into this corner. I'm defending right now. Yeah. Second best voicemails ever After, of course, Mel Gibson. So we go to another area of A few nights called Frenchman Street. That's where all the Bands play. That's where all the music Is. That's where you get off Of Bourbon Street. We're all I don't know the Lloyd the French are assholes. Do they put olives on your Burger? And we're playing. There's this band playing For a while. And I go up and I give a Big tip because they're They're smashing. Russell's a big tipper guy. Yep. Well, he looks at me as I'm Walking.

[31:00]She goes. She calls me. Thanks, big daddy. I got called big daddy. For a tip of the music part. Is that what do you think of That? I just heard his roommate get A little jealous. She was impressed. She was impressed, man. Yes. She knows who she's rolling With. Nice work, big daddy. Yeah. Big daddy. It's always good to let them Know that you got options. You got options, right? You got options. You got to let them know. Speaking of big daddy is Really going. I was going with you, Matt. Good. It's officially We talked about this earlier. We had late Thanksgiving this Year. Wow. I got stuck with the flu. It snowed. It's been a horrible start to Inflatable season, But I ended up getting the Inflatables up on December 5th, which is the latest. The inflatables ever Run up. So I'm up to 21 inflatables In the front yard. We've got a couple new ones This year. I did it again over 21.

[32:00]That would be a bust Technically, right? But I've got four that Grandpa Al is currently Repairing for one reason Or another. And usually it's the Cords broken. So trying to get the poop Emoji back up. I noticed that was missing. Please. That's the, That's the, That's the number one. We got to get fixed. Then Darth Vader's down. No, Darth Vader back up. Minions down. So hopefully we can get Those three back into the Mix. I did. I did have to pull out a Needle and thread this year And so a couple of them, Including one of my Favorite ones, The VW bug were Santa And the reindeer Hanging, Santa's driving And the reindeer Hanging out the back of The VW bug. This is by far the most Animated I've ever seen Made on the podcast. Yeah. And it's not even close. Action. He has fired up all the Inflatables. Matt, any new Inflatables to add? Did you? Cause I know last year, Of course it did not Work out. A six foot sloth. It's got like a robe And PJ's on and the Shirt and he's holding A cup of coffee And the shirt just says, I only get up this early For Christmas. So we got that. Got another,

[33:00]I got a, What did we get? I assume these were purchased Last January, right? Well, see, No, because remember, Russell, he had a disaster Last January. We're at all backfired On him. But then we still Went and bought some. Yeah. Because I thought Because I remember, Did I just do a parody song Where I made that up in my Head? I can't remember. No, it did happen Because we were going to go And then yeah, They screwed With their minards Is trying to mess around. The problem was We ended up buying three Or four last year, Right? But then I stick them In the box. Like, You know, I got to hang them all To dry them. Yeah. So they hang in my garage For about a month Just because I'm too lazy To then go take them down. But so they're hanging up there. I've created a whole Racking system in my My rafters just to hang them. So they don't own A inflatable, Let alone many inflatable Seven necessity. And it's a rack. A rack. Right. So they had hung them all up. So then, You know, We've got the boxes Of the new ones. So put the boxes In the crates. Yeah, man, You don't need to tell us How to do what to do With inflatables. We don't. Yeah. And then we put them.

[34:00]So then when I'm pulling Them out this year, You know, And I was, I was checking them To make sure they'd light up And, You know, Take care and all that stuff For putting them up. Things like that. I looked at them. You know, There's three or four In there, But I already bought. We had already bought three New ones. Wow. This right after Thanksgiving Or right before Thanksgiving They're on sale. And so now we had like Six new ones to play. It was, It was a, I've got a cow. I've not put up yet. I think I got to move to the Other side of the driveway. Yeah. Because usually it's just two Rows, But it's very crowded. I mean, I'm going to get, I have to go to three rows Or I got to go across the Driveway to like the little Middle. So it's, It's tough. It's tough. Matt, I hate to do this to you, But it is going to Necessitate a private DM Over Instagram to your wife To ask her how she is feeling About the inflatables Because I do love To find out. Now, I hate DM in your wife Behind your back, But I do love her reaction When I say, Oh, How are the inflatables Doing this to your Matt? Can't you just Have we had a change? Do you choose, Do you choose Instagram DMs As your main form of DMs? Well, why don't you just

[35:00]Text her? You have her number. I don't know. I DM her. I DM her because I, Well, You know what it is? I see pictures and I say, Oh, Your parent of the year. I say actually send that To her quite a bit more Than I probably should. I think a scammer Would have, I don't even use these Social media things, But I think a direct text To your buddy's wife. Just one on one. I think that's cheating. I think that counts as Cheating. Oh, I think it's not even close. Jenny and I, My God, I text all the time. All the time. And usually it's like, Hey, There's a picture of Rob Sent into the group. Hey, Make sure the group knows About this things like that Or or or Matt will Suddenly be getting 15 Texts in a row that are Nonstop as an avalanche. You cannot recover. You cannot read the past Stuff. They keep coming in faster, Faster. A couple of weeks ago, What were we talking about? I thought I was texting you Something. Yeah. No, It was Jenny. Yeah. Then all of a sudden Jenny Is like I've got just Pages of Jenny, Like numbering things And whatever. So yeah. She says she gets on. She goes, This is Jenny. And then it's like, Yeah, No shit. There's one million words That follow. Yeah. Whereas in Matt and I

[36:00]Text each other, We're like over it. Lock, You know, You're just doing Something like that to each Other. Vegas 44 days. Listen, Russell, I will continue to DM The wives. Okay. He's beautiful. Don't. Rosie, We had a parlay. We had a parlay of all The favorites. Rosie, We had a parlay of all The favorites. Oh, That's not a great day. We got to say something. I know I'm out of like The gambling club. Yeah, Because you're always making Fun of us. Hold on. Here's why. If you guys are Parlaying favorites, Just fucking hang it up. Just hang it up. If you're, If you're, If you're a parlay favorite Guy, Just, Just hang it up. Why? What do we do it? We are having fun with $10 for one whole day. How much fun did you have Parlaying those favorites? To be honest, They made the games Interesting resulted in About 30 texts, Which was great because I Was sitting at a science Olympiad meet. And I was like, I'm so bored. But then I found out Russell. I was in Connecticut And guess what? You could bet on it in Connecticut. MVP raise,

[37:00]Baby. We were then picking our defensive Rookie of the year. Okay. We're like, What do we think about defensive Rookie of the year? I don't know. I know a lot about this. Meanwhile, Kids are like, How do I do this? I'm like, Shut up. Parlaying all the favorites. The kids like, You're parlaying favorites. Hang it up. You're losing. The only, The only saving grace Russell in all of this is That Rob does An excellent job of like Keeping the bet. It's a very minimum. It's like, We're like, Hey, Let's sort of $10 each on all The favorites just so that We're watching the game. And there's a little bit Actually things like that. So it does not rarely. I would say maybe even less Than rarely Rob. It gets like, It's like, Ooh, That's a lot of money kind of Thing. And a lot of money is usually Like a $40 bed on something. Yeah. Every once in a while It gets up there. But I guess what Russell? We're actually on a heater Lately. Okay. We're on fire right now. We can't be stopped On that text chain. So sorry. It's the way it is. Yeah. Yeah. So I gotta, I'll, I'll update you on how the blowups

[38:00]Go for the rest of the year, Rob, When you know, Next, Next couple of episodes or so. So do you have like, Matt, Do you have like a neighbor That puts up like one Santa Claus like on December 1st? They're like, Man, My house is looking good. And then you just come in, You come over the top and just Smash the shit out of them. The lady next to me is pretty Funny because she's making Fun of me for getting the Blowups late, Up late this year. She goes, You know, Then I put them all out. She goes, Well, I guess I'll put my little snow. She like hangs a little like, You know, Maybe it's like two foot lights Up, Whatever she hangs it on the side Of her. I guess I'll hang up my little Snowman now kind of a thing. So Matt, Your house might be on one of Those lists where people come By and take pictures. You know, There's like a list of famous Like of, Of houses in the Minneapolis Area where people go take Pictures. I feel like those are like The ones where you've got like The rate, You know, You set your radio and it's Like timed up with the lights And everything. And, You know, We're just a bunch of blowups. I'll tell you what Matt, The thing is now is that people Are hiring people to do their Christmas lights. Your thoughts on that, Matt, You can hire professionals

[39:00]To hang Christmas lights. Matt, What do we think? I, Let's say somebody, Let's say, Man, Let's say somebody on the Text chain does this. You find out about it. You saying something over the Text chain, Like, Does it infuriate you that Much? Five years ago, Five years ago, I might have said something, But like right now, Yeah, For what the, How much snows out there, How shitty I felt for like Three weeks. I definitely would have paid Something, But it all depends on the price, Right? I honestly thought about like Just trying to find somebody To pay him a hundred bucks, Put up everything, But then I thought better of It, Rob, Of like, No way, Gotta do it. I gotta do it. Matt, You might as well come to New York, Live in an apartment, My son, No yard, No nothing to kick care of. You know how snow right now? I didn't think there was snow yet. Well, We're getting like annoying Snow. We're getting like it snowed Like, Maybe a half an inch to an Inch today, But it just snowed just Enough to very light the whole Day. And so it's just some of us Like to round up on the inches. So I think you can call it an Inch. And I'll tell you what, If you're going to call it an Inch, You might as well say eight.

[40:00]You know what I mean? Talk about I ran into some snow The other day, And it was the least annoying Snow I'd ever had. Man, I never really noticed the Horns looking there. That's nice. Yeah. A licky boom, Boom, There, They've been down to see, Be down to see, Be down. All right. Don't know the lyrics as Well as I thought when I Started that read that First comment. First comment. My grandmother love this song And now she's passed away to Have it. No, Can't wait for the English Version to come out because I don't speak doctors Handwriting. God, You know what giving you up. You got 647 thumbs up. You're getting one more. What's the second comment? Jim Carrey's version on Living colors. The first thing that comes To mind. Oh, I know we got to look Thumbs down. I'm going to need to see that. No, guys, We got to look up. Jim Carrey snow informer. Before we look it up, How long do you think you live In color head like a runner? Is that like a two years? I think three or four.

[41:00]Yeah, I think three. I mean, I was strongly like If you said fly girls, Everyone knew what you're Talking about. Look at snow right there With the glasses. I mean, That's the official music Video. You realize like, I mean, that's a dad. This was the guy. I mean That's that's not somebody Who's in jail. He's he looks like a dad. Look at snow. God, what a loot. Look at that guy. You know, I'll use Jim Carrey. All right. Boom. That hits. You know what? That's after that comment. Second comment. Just as good. Damn, that was good. That's all we need to see. We know this. That's it. We're in it. Yeah. Rob rolling going. How's it going with you? My wife is wilding out. I'm now going to tell you A few things you can't talk About the Olympiad. What the hell? You had something else. I'll talk about that. You're making us wait For Aaron to talk about He bit of fire. Right. Yeah. You're kind of Guess what? Bearing the lead here. Those of you, The wife freaks out there Who want to hear about my wife Wilding out, You're going to have to wait. Okay. Wife gone wild. Okay. Where she says inappropriate Things and allowed voice.

[42:00]It doesn't care who hears it. That's going to have to wait Because right now I'm talking About Rob's day With the Science Olympiad folks. Today I took Play a science song In the background, Please. What's that? I'd like to get. No, I want the galaxy song By what's it called? The English dudes. Galaxy song. Oh, Monty Python. Yeah. So listen. You know, I got new internet too. It should be faster. Scared or daft. Now you can tell. Science Olympiad. What you've had. Why? Bring 48 kids today to Connecticut, Which by the way, It turns out you can play Blackjack on your phone. What kids are doing stuff? How do you know that? Robert, you don't take a bus. How do you? How do you take 48 kids? Oh, it's a drive. Are you driving a bus? Okay. Yeah. Coach bus. Of course. Yes. The school I work at. It's of course. It's a coach bus. Okay. Guess what?

[43:00]Number one. First place for me today. Got first. My team got first at Science Olympiad. I am a fucking trophy. I can send you a picture. It's a fucking Matt. Guess what? It's a heavy trophy. Nice. Can I ask some of this? I've asked this before about Like, oh, I feel like Everyone's kid that I've Ever known is one like First place in the state Baseball tournament. So I didn't notice on your trophy. It said division B. Oh, that just means middle school. Division C is high school. All right. So it wasn't like you were like The best of the worst Or the worst of the best. Well, I will say this. You're something I'm not going to Include on my Instagram posts. Yes. There were eight teams at the Meet. There were eight teams. I brought five of them. Well, I didn't know how many People were there. And normally these are very big And I get there and they were Like, oh, yeah, there's eight Teams. And I was like, I have over half The team. Shouldn't you break? Shouldn't it be at your place Then?

[44:00]Shouldn't it be like a home? Oh, no, no, no. You don't want this is not Something you want to host. This is a nightmare. This is something you want to Go to and then get the fuck Out of there. But like no matter what First place and when my when They announced my team was The winner. And by the way, Go buck wild. Well, because there's here's A thing. There's 23 events. They give medals for every event. Oh, so like first, second, third. So there's eight teams. There's first, second, third. My guys are fucking Michael Phelps In it up out there. They have so many fucking metals. They're going Mark Spitz. They've got all the metals. The torpedo, they've got Everything with swimmers. Why is that just swimmers With the coach? Get a medal or no? Yeah. No, wait a minute. Coach is not getting metal. Now you're telling me that I Bet on coach of the year While sitting at this thing And I don't get a medal. That's crazy to be. Oh, my God. But when they announced That our team one, by the way, The whole team ran up And all ran and like touch The trophy like it was the World Cup. I was like, this is the dumbest Thing. We beat three other teams. It would be like if we were Be like if you were going for

[45:00]Like a weightlifting competition Or a powerlifting, Whatever you call it, Rob. Yeah, except, Well, I have done that A number of times where I beat Actually less people than three. That's kind of the story of my Life. It's kind of like, It's like, hey, Rob, Story of my life. You're number one. As long as there's only four or five. You know what I mean? Like that has to be Totally fun. Wait, hold on. Yeah, we got questions. I thought you were going to Give this up. I thought this was like one of Those things that was like the Bane of your existence. The science Olympia. Tell you what, I was karaoke club. He gave up. Oh, no karaoke club. Nobody signed up for karaoke. That is a sad death. Give up on him. And guess what? I could have restarted it As a winter club. I didn't even want to try. Oh, which was the best time For karaoke? Oh, I tell you're right. I should have started to get Him a coward, but I didn't want To get hurt again. Russ Aaron, I did want to put My heart out there. Fair Aaron. Can you imagine saying I love This and then nobody votes For it? Not a single person. That feels tough. It'd be rough. Oh, damn.

[46:00]This air Russell, I have perfected my organization. That's all it is. Every kid gets a bin. I give them all their kits That they're going to build Beforehand. They put the parts in. I perfected the organization. That's it. I've just I've made it better. You're like the Lane Kiffin Of Science Olympiad. You should have Walked out right before They were competing today. It'd be like I'm going to Coach this other team. These other three teams, you Know, my only worry about The whole college football Landscape with all the coaches Changes is I don't know If they have a legal betting For that Iowa state coach. They went to Penn State And the state of Pennsylvania. Not sure. Yeah. I don't know if he's going To have that opportunity. We're a basketball school Anyway. You guys saw it happen today. I'm not worried about it. I'm not concerned about football at all. Yeah, no problems. I have no idea what you guys Are talking about. I was dominating The Science Olympiad like John Gagliardi. Get the fuck out of my way. I was stiff arm. Listen, let's talk about Check Your Head by the Beastie Boys. Wow. We've get this is their third Album. We've got licensed To somebody have a TV on in The background, by the way.

[47:00]I got people in the house. That's what's going on. Yeah. So the guest can hear you. Yeah. So good luck erring that up, Rob. My favorite is the low cut Panning. You know, Aaron, what's yours? What the high cut? You like the high cut shit? That's the problem is they can't Hear you because you're in my Headphones, but you can hear Them because they're on my Microphone. Aaron, I'm going to DM your wife. I'm going to get their phone Number. I'm going to send them a copy Of this podcast. That's what they need. They're going to hear what They made. Yes. Oh my God. They're going to be like, I Love that paddle Brian bit. God, that hit heart. The Beastie Boys. Your wife can't be supportive Of you like walking out while You have guests over and You're like, I've got to Do this. There's no way as a man who's Done it. It depends on the people. Like, these are folks who we Know very well and are very Comfortable with us. We're comfortable with them. And I told Anna I had a time Like I'm going to have to leave At 8 30 and she was like, yep, That's cool. Like it was no, like it's Totally okay. There are other situations Where she's like, hey, not Tonight, but no, this one Was like, plus we

[48:00]Can't hear that often. You hear that often. Don't you? Don't believe. But no, this was totally, It was totally fine because Then now the kids are like Watching a movie and the people Are hanging out. It's like these are very Comfortable with these folks. You know, I laughed at that joke Map, but it actually may be Pretty sad. It made me sad about my Hair. Can I ask me to Rob? Take your headphones off for A second. Aaron, are you can it Won't hurt Matt and I feelings. Do you wish you were hanging Out with them instead? Oh, this is what I wanted to Do tonight. No, this is it, man. This is it. I'm sure I'm sure this is Where I'm at. And Aaron, we'll talk about How your wife really feels About you go to the Podcast after the podcast. Now. B.C. Boys, this is the third Album. They come out with license to Ill, right? Like I'm like we talked about That between when we did Paul Paul's boutique that change Of kind of frat boy. Rude-ness all of a sudden we Get to Paul's boutique. Total samples all the time Just sample, Sample, sample, Sample, slumber sample. And all of a sudden we

[49:00]Then go to check your head And it's almost like An in between except for One thing. This is them just playing Their instruments. This is them actually going Way back to their punk route. Yeah. And all of a sudden they pick Up their instruments because The studio says we're not Promoting this anymore. Paul's boutique didn't do as Well. You guys don't get as much Promotion. They said, okay, fuck it. We're not going to do what You want. We're actually going to go To G Sun Studios. Now, where's G Sun Studios Atwater Village? Aaron, how do we get to Atwater Village? Well, I would have to take A flight first. And then that's right. California is so big. I forget you're not by Los Angeles. How I got to know you? What's going on? Flight LAX. I think we got the PCH head South from the PCH. Yeah, pick the one. Okay, get off. It depends on the flight Times and where it is though. You could fly to Burbank Or you could fly to John Wayne In Orange County. You probably wouldn't fly To John Wayne in Orange County. But you can either do Burbank or LAX probably. Flight time sounds like Russell getting espresso Martinis tonight. Now, this is an inside joke For actually all of our Listeners.

[50:00]G Sun Studios, guess what? It's a studio. They fucking built themselves. And when the Beastie Boys Build the studio, It literally sounds like what A little kid would put in a studio. It's like, hey, we should make A fucking recording studio And it should have a basketball Coordinate and it should have A half pipe in it. And then it had that. And it's like, and there Should be somebody serving us And they're dressed like a nurse And they are they have long Legs and blonde hair as. Okay, now we're getting a little Okay, a little too deep on Their little real studio coming Out of me. And they yell at you and say You're slim and they just Put a high heel right in Your nuts. Well, I have to call 22nd time Out. I'm sorry. Can I call it time out? Yeah, of course. I'm out. I got a text from one of my Buddies who lives in Las Vegas. Okay. He played poker this last week With Dabber, the real Dabber From coach. What? In Las Vegas. Yes. He said he played poker with. But if that's was the real Dabber, then he was wife As I fucking. Oh my God.

[51:00]So are we sure that's not The real dog? I got a sober catfish. The guy that we've always Joked is being Dabber. Vegas might be the real Dabber. I mean, it's possible, right? Yes. I got catfish by the fake Dabber. Tell everybody what just the Quick background because even John for me dying it as a note Who Dabber is. You want me to go for it or Sure? Yeah. Just give the quick break. Actually, I can tell the story Quite well. Okay. There's a man in Vegas who Is there every time we're There to have two years in a Row at least. Yeah. But where is where we're Is in Vegas and he is at The dance club. The Carnival Court. We go to the Carnival Court, Of course, outdoor bar with the Bay at the 80s band. The greatest place in the World every time people go to Vegas, we all ask them if They went there and they say What? No, what I go there. We're like, it's the greatest Place in the world. This guy is about 6 4 has Hulk Hogan type baby doll hair. Yes. Okay. He looks a lot like Dabber Jacked. But we're an army.

[52:00]Dabber has something that We don't have. Oh, and that is a Cosmetically enhanced wife. Who is She's a bit of an arrow. Oh, what? She's a rather old. Okay. But she is and I hate to use This word. Oh, no, I hate to use it. But there's no other way to Say it. And I mean this with the Utmost respect. She's a bimbo. She looks like a bimbo and I'm sorry to say it, but You know what That's the only way I can Describe it. It's actually the most Respectful way. You've described your nicer As your type and if I remember Correctly. Well, okay. Me and Jeff Bezos. Me and Jeff Bezos going like This, locking arms, wife type. Oh, this is perfect with the Music right now. But just keep going. So last time we were there. This guy was intent on having Me sleep with his wife. He asked me to come over and Dance. He said I dance real good. This is the guy who looks Like Dabber from the show Coach. Yes, correct.

[53:00]And I was taking My thing was over on M. I was taking monster hits. So I got kind of paranoid And I told everybody this guy Is trying to have you sleep With his wife. You have to help me. And then I turned around the Two guys I told were standing Next to Dabber pointing at Me and telling him. Oh, yeah, that guy wanted to Sleep with your wife so bad. They told a little revenge on Me. So now you're telling me that The real Dabber is playing Poker in Vegas. That's the word from one of My friends who lives in Vegas And plays poker there regularly Is he was playing with the real Dabber from Coach now. I think it might be the real Guy. I got to say this. You think Dabber that wants me To sleep with his wife is the Real Dabber. I think it could be the real Dabber. Well, I got to do it then. It's Christine. Wait, am I getting the show Make a stop? I don't think I don't think He was ever had any relations With Christine for Christine Fox, the news reporter. It's Christine. That's that's the coach's Wife, girlfriend. Hayden Fox's wife Hayden

[54:00]Fox. Yeah. OK, is was she a wife? Did they get married on the show? Oh, for sure. OK, I'm that does sound And let me guess was Dabber One of the groomsmen. Oh, my God, I could picture it Now. I should be writing this Shit now. Don't you feel like you could Beat Dabber and poker, by the Way? Like if I sat down and it was Dabber, I'd be like, I'm Going to kick this guy's ass. He's dumb as hell. Dabber Dabinsky's wife In the show was Judy Watkins Dabinsky. OK, played by Pam Stone, A formidable ladies basketball Coach who often classed Coach Hayden Fox, but eventually Married Dabber and had a talented Daughter named Madison. Wow. OK, I'm going to say Coach Pam Stone and I'm going to see if I recognize this person because I watch this show a ton. Yes, 100 percent. Yep. I know exactly. I remember that might be You're describing Rob. Wow. Dabber's wife has the haircut That was on every elementary School teacher when I did that Roast. Remember when I did the roast? That wasn't a roast for Anybody but me. Anyway, all of a sudden this Album comes out. It gets mixed reviews when

[55:00]It comes out. It goes all the way up to 10 on The charts. And even though it influenced Things like Gorillas raging against the Machine this is like Live instrument hip hop before Anybody else was doing live Instrument hip hop. New York Times says, hey, I Love it. Spin says I love it. Entertainment Weekly gives it A D. NME gives it a 6 out of 10. People. This was a really divisive Album, but it was an album That the Beastie Boys were Doing because they wanted to And it turns out Now we're looking back at The Beastie Boys. I think we're like, oh, Yeah, they did weird. They did new shit all the Time and it was always cool. But I think at this point People are like, wait a minute, Paul's boutique was way out There than this isn't anything Like we want to hear more Probably licensed ill. That was me at that age. Matt. I listen to this. I listen to this on Amazon music and they often Have like What do you want to call Surveys or they ask you Questions like why were Beastie Boys so influential Things like that. And I one of the answers Was Because they were always

[56:00]Adapting to the times Or changing their music And it became relevant to The air or whatever. And that was like, That was by far the number One answer for everybody. And it was like a thousand People and answered Kind of a thing was like 46% said that kind of a deal. And I think you always hear This, right? You always get these albums Like this that we look back From when we were 10, 11, 12 years old And like this is awesome Music, right? But like you think about This rap album and I'm Using my air quotes Because I guarantee That the NWA And what was going on with Bad boy and You know, death row records And all that stuff. This was completely different Than anything that was going On with that. And so I think it was just A little off center From rap, but it was Absolutely like An influential different Form of rap at the time And nobody understood It really until two Or three years later When everybody It kind of took hold. But like if you were just Listening if it's like, Hey, this is dropping On December 7th. You're going to go listen To it. I need to give you a

[57:00]Review. You'd be like, Well, I don't know. But then it just grows on You over time. I mean this is 1992. Yeah. Right. And when you think of the 80s, BC boys, you're like, Oh, yeah, that's perfect 80s Music. When you think of the BC boys like sabotage. I mean, how much is that Music like, oh, I'm 16. I'm sitting on my couch. Sabotage is on this Video kicks ass. And then when you hear like Check your head I can just put myself In every time with the BC boys like I can picture What I was doing. But the question is, Is like, are they staying With the music or is the Tail wagging the dog? You know what I mean? Are they the cause of these I think absolutely that the Tail is wagging the dog On this one. Like they are pioneering What is coming in what's New and what's hip and What's now with it and Wow at that time. So this is kind of a Samples, but they're also Playing the instruments. This is called Jimmy James, Which are some starter. Just awesome starter. It's a great starter. Yeah, it starts with a quote

[58:00]From Live at the Buddha Con by I'm the big trick. Oh, yeah. Cheap trick Live at the Buddha Con and it goes right into This. Originally, this was A tribute to Jimi Hendrix And they had Jimi Hendrix Samples. Well, those all had to be Taken out before the album Was released. I should have grabbed that, But I'm too lazy to do that. You know what? Actually what? Fuck it. Not to keep you guys up any Later, but I'm going to grab The Jimi Ham time. The original Jimi Hendrix Sample group. I'm a sticker right here. It's under us right now. That's great. Awesome. Wow. This is great. Thanks for that, Rob. Oh my God. It's so loud. I came here with you guys Are saying it's so loud. I can't even hear it. Funky boss. This is their Them on instruments Playing. It sounds good, man. It's a group and they've got Their kind of fourth member This guy that they called Money Mark is on keyboards. You can hear a lot of them On this album.

[59:00]Aaron, are you a funky boss? No, I'm a pretty boring boss. I'm finding I got some new Director first though Who worked harder than me And it's tough like there. How many did you Get replaced? Did you replace? Oh, did you get it? Dude, I got listen, I got eight director Ports and I have twenty Six in my work. Oh my God. Yeah, I got your director. Your direct reports have Direct reports. One of them has eight And I have six. Aaron, you've got Aaron. I want to give you a hand job More now than ever. You're like up the middle We've talked about this Before, Aaron, you've Reached point. You don't do any work. All you do is manage People at this point. Right. It is. All I do is you can't do The work your employees Do. Is that right? No, it's a great moment Of I wish I could ever Get there my career, But it'll never happen. Pass the mic, boss. Rob, can I I'm just going to hit this Quick. You mentioned money, Mark. He's done a bunch of these Songs. He's playing the different

[1:00:00]Parts of organs and all Sorts. I think like on Mark On the bus, there's a Number of him. He also was very involved. He played with back On numerous albums And Rob, maybe if you pull Up, I don't think I ever Sent you the link. But if you could pull up Our famous song by back Where it's at that keyboard Lick at the very beginning Of where it's at. No, It's money, Mark Russell. I know I'm not joking. Could we have picked any other Musician that comes up as much As Beck does? Listen, this is money, Mark Right here. Holy shit. This is money, Mark. Yes. Great nickname, by the way. And he played on where? Oh, man. That's one of our favorites. We've talked about before. Yeah. He said another one. If people go check out Earthquake weather, I was going to pull that One for you, but I Couldn't tell which was The worlitzer and which Was his organ. But it's oops. I don't think you'll be able to Find it too easily. Great songs, this money, Mark. So I got to say when it comes To work with money, Mark, who did it better? Beck did it.

[1:01:00]But you can hear like just Like the tangential Beastie Boys for sure. Those two songs for sure. Sure. Holy cow. Gratitude. This is MCA using a super Fuzz on his base. It's just to go back again. I mean, these guys started Out late 70s, early 80s As a punk band, as a group Playing instruments And singing. And they had Famously had a drummer Who went on to do some famous All girl band type things And stuff like that. So I mean, they Were musicians before kind of The Paul's boutique Type. Yeah it's crazy How talented they are. They this is just like, You know how when you See like a real athlete, The first time you see Like a division one athlete, You're like, oh, I get it. No, I get it that They're just totally different. Yeah. When you see creative People who are like this And they're so good at So many different kinds of things, You're just like, oh, I get that. That's I could be at home All day.

[1:02:00]I could try to do this all day. I could never do what they're Doing. It's just a totally different. There's a there's a great clip. There's that I think it was on Apple had a documentary About the Beastie Boys. And there's a great clip of Them when they came up Sabotage the album. Hill communications not on the List. It should be on the list, Not on the list. There is three Beastie Boys Albums on the list, Which I think we've Kind of settled on is probably The perfect number for any group Like this. Yeah. No more or less, But sabotage the song on Ill communication. Everybody knows Greatest Video Of all time kind of a thing Of them coming up with the You just the beginning of Sabotage. Yeah. And I mean, it's like so Simple, but then what They got out of that from Just that first little lick On sabotage is unbelievable. You know, but just them Coming up with that stuff After having four massive Albums before it is They're still just creating new Music that just hits. It's great. Here. Rob's Internet. This I fucking upgraded my Internet man.

[1:03:00]And this one we haven't heard Yet. This time is coming up. We won't. Well, this is no real Not. Yeah. This will not be on. Okay. Hill communication. Let's give it 94. Greatest year for Albums of all time. 1994. I mean, this is 94. This is what's this album 92 that we're doing. Like, yeah, you can see such A straight line between that And then they really give it More of a pop feel almost With this little communication With sabotage. Oh, so good. I think that's good. Lighten up kind of a Latin sound, but it sounds A ton like James Brown. Well, this one had an organ On it. I don't know if you cut Halfway through or do it To drop it. Oh, this one had an organ on it. I wanted to do the James Brown Really straight. Yeah. It sounds like it's there. I have a fun time. I mean, they're almost doing Right. They're like almost interpolating Right? You can hear that in the background There rustle little organ.

[1:04:00]Can I have a hot take on this One? Love it. I don't see the through line In this album. It's all over the place. They've got all sorts of stuff Going on. There's like thrash metal. There's hip hop. And I think it's very cool, But I don't see like the through Line. I don't see like the start To the end. And there's so many different Things going on. And I don't know like if like, I don't know if you want to call That funk or whatever you want To just heard or when they've Got a song coming up that's Like thrash metal coming up. I don't think they do that Stuff better than the other Band. Like their thrash metal is not Better than Metallica. Their funk there is not better Than James Brown. But they just got so many Different types of music on This. Is that fair or not? Yeah, but it's almost like I Think sometimes they're doing a Pastiche of those, right? Like they're almost like doing An homage. And then because I do think that This one has a little bit more Humor in it than PC Boys Always does. I don't know. I think that's fair Russell. It's probably like I think this

[1:05:00]Album certainly belongs on the List. I really enjoy listening to it, But it's probably in the 240s Because it's not like what is This 60s to 60s. We're not going back. We're not going back. Let's go back. About right? Like what are they? What are they singing about? I don't know. And that's fine. There's plenty of stuff where we Don't know what they're singing About. But yeah, like what's what's Motivating each of the sounds? What's the soul behind it? Like I'm not sure because they're Like tongue in cheek a lot. And I think it's great. Like they're very smart and it's Smart music and it's very good. But like does it doesn't have a Soul to it is hard to find. You wonder if though if they Get because I think they got Their ill communication or Their license to ill. I think they got sick of doing Those songs, right? And they got sick of being Associated with those songs. So they go into an album where There's basically no lyrics. It's Paul's boutique. It's all the I think this is Them kind of treading back in But being like we can't be like So like the Beastie Boys. We have to do all this different Stuff to get away from that Original album, which we don't Want to be. So we're actually going to go Back and do the punk.

[1:06:00]But at the same time, we're Going to show that we know All these different kinds of Music, Matt. There's a very similar way That Pearl Jam does their Albums. You know, like you think of Like we make fun of all The times the song Bugs is On a Pearl Jam album, right? Like how the hell does that Make it onto an album like This? Well, I think it's because You've got so many individuals Who are creating their craft For the it's a it's a it's a Band, right? It's not like one person, Not Billy Corgan, who does All the instruments and is Writing every single song In order that it's not back. Who's the writer of all the Song? You know, each, the three Of them bring their own Individual take to the album And you have to put everybody's Stuff on. You want to put everybody's Stuff on. You know, everybody wants to Put everybody's stuff on kind Of a thing. So it's kind of Pearl Jam Does the same thing. Everybody writes songs. Eddie ends up doing like the Lyrics and things like that. And I think that goes along With they start out with The beat and the bass And the music. And then they start adding Lyrics when they want to,

[1:07:00]You know, so and I'll Tell you what, Russell, I Don't have a great affinity To this album. I this is not an album That I ever listened to Before. But I think like a band Like we're going to hear Next week, they did something For most of the album and Then got off course and did Some other stuff. I think at least this album Is just eclectic all the way Through. Like you really don't know. So like we had a James Brown Thing there, now we go to Finger Licking Good where It's almost back to like the Old Paul's Boutique piece Of voice. You know what I mean? Like you're, so I don't know It's at least this is just Jumping around. But I admit it is it does Make for a jarring listen When you're like, oh, I can Relax to this. And then this comes on. You're like, oh, not really Anywhere. I go to a top three. Then you go to the top three Song next for me. They've been top three Beastie Boys song. The biz versus the biz Versus the newge. I mean, I love Bismarck Like anybody but oh, I skip One. I'm sorry. This week guys, we did it. Right. No, wait. It is Rob called Bismarcky.

[1:08:00]I'm a Bismarcky. Rob's Bismarcky. I think it's Bismarcky also. Yeah, it's Bismarcky. Bismarcky. Russell, I'm sorry. Just like when I was had to go To court, I was out. I was out of order there. So what you want in fact, Russell, But you know what the problem Was, Russell? The entire court was out of Orders when I thought and I Told them so. Yeah. And this is a question. No, now, but this is. Yeah. So if you were to look back At Russell's win amp player at College, this is on it. Sanitizes on it. There's probably three or four More songs. I don't think there's a ton of Songs from this album that are Like pop notes, right? No, because that's what you want. But that's like Paul's boutique Too, right? Like, yeah, I don't know If any of them. Yeah, I added this one to my Surfing list for next summer. And let's go play in the Gym. This is a good one. I could buy a good one out Of the lake.

[1:09:00]I like this is one. If you buy this record And you put this on that song Plays, you've got to stand Up and go drag the needle Back and play it again. There's no way you don't, right? Yeah, this would be Mind blowing. If you go back and watch People here, this is the first Time and not like those fake Videos that are on tic-tac. You guys know that famous Sly and the Family stone song Time for Living sounds like This. I did not know it. I didn't either. I didn't know it. But guess what? It's kind of a fucking jam. This is off like there's 14 studio album. It's crazy how many albums Sly And the Family stone made. Yes, so many. This the BC boys covered it. So you heard the Time for Living There. Listen to this. This is punk. I mean, you're telling me they're Doing a punk song of Time for Living by Sly and the Family Stone. Something's got to give.

[1:10:00]What's you can change one thing About your life, Matt, right now. What would you change? God, you don't you don't want to Ask me that. Okay, then I won't. Jesus Christ. I've learned with you. I do not want to ask that. Rosie, what do you think? What's the one thing in your Life that's not like going to Make me sad that you'd want To change? Oh, no, I should have asked you Either. I wish some of my Kevin Garnett Rookie cards would have been PSA 10. You know what? I kind of wish that to Russell. That would be fun. I didn't I didn't I expect all Of them. I could have gone of like the 43 I said that I could have Gone for two PSA 10s. Guys, it's two PSA 10. Two PSA 10s. Do you want to ask? Yeah he's a good Guy. They've been in cases the whole Time. How could they not be 10s? Why would they not be 10s? I feel like Rob, I feel like I got to take all the 9s That rip them out of those cases. Send those fuckers back. Wow. Try it again. See if maybe they maybe you're Going to hit the easier Grader next time. It's like taking a college

[1:11:00]Class. Yeah, I wish I had a hoop. I could practice on during The week. There's just nothing. Nothing. No, you cannot. You cannot be close enough To me. You cannot be a mid 40s Male shooting on your own Hoop in your driveway. I don't know. Driveways woman nearby that I can get to Russell. I do it all the time in my Back driveway. I go shoot hoops. All the time. Rosie, think about just working On your hook shot. You're just out there working On a hook shot. Because I because now I go in My garage and work on my Handle. But like I want to be able to Shoot as well. Yes. I'm just down there in the Garage. Rosie, don't isn't there Like a next door type thing In your neighborhood? Do they got next door? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there are like free Basketball hoops. No, it's not a free bet. It's more an issue of like Of geography or topography. Like it's about where I Could put it. You know, my yard is tiny And like my everybody had A friend with a basketball Hoop was on a slope driveway. And it was wild because one Side you're like two feet Higher and the other side You're two feet lower and You're shooting. Right. But guess what? You still played now guys. We're going to play quick Another game show. Right. Do we think Aaron has cones?

[1:12:00]Does Aaron ever get out cones To help him work on the Handles? Russell, does Aaron have Cones? Little and I'll even take The little flat ones. That's a really tough Question. I don't think he does Have cones. No. Wow, Matt. Does he have cones? Nope. He's just doing a ball Handling jills with cones. Guys, you might as well get On a roller coaster Because Aaron's garage is A Coney Island. He's got lots of cones. Aaron, do you have any cones? No, no cones. No cones. I'm just doing stationary Driven in the garage And trying that to hit the Television with my basketball. Wow. It sounds like kind of my life Growing up except for doing Anything when I'm watching Television. I would never do anything. Stand together. Aaron, I was in a Grocery store the other day. Sorry, Matt. I'm going to cut All the way back to that Commercial part too. So don't worry. This is a big cut. Stand together. Go ahead. Aaron, I was going to say I was thinking about you The other day. I was in a grocery store, Walked by the magazine aisle, Looking for your magazine. No rolling stone. No rolling stone. Nobody carries it.

[1:13:00]They don't carry it anywhere. It doesn't exist. I know. I was in two stores. I looked for it. I was like, How awesome would it be If I mailed Aaron The Questlove article And Rolling Stone magazine? I was like, I can't find it. It's incredible. No. Let me ask you guys this. You hear this song. Do you think the chemical Brothers ever heard this song? I mean, doesn't it sound So much like a chemical brother? Well, I think there's Obviously a ton of like Hip hop rock bands That are influenced heavily By this album. Yeah. Lincoln Park, right? Lincoln Park. Well, who's the hot dog Flavored water guy that comes Right in this album? Right? Yeah. Who's the hot dog Flavored water guy? Fred Dirt. Pop Roach. I think there's a lot of it. I think there's a lot of this Stuff that comes right from This album. To be honest, Do you think Fred Dirt Seems like a damn. I thought I was the original Red hat guy like Fred Dirt. Now he's not the red hat guy Anymore. What was on his hat? Was it just a plain red hat? It's like a ranger. You know what? That's a great question. Let's look it up right now. Who's a baseball team?

[1:14:00]You know what? We got to just play one more Game and we're going to play A quick game right now. It's called what's on. And I'm going to put An echo behind this. What's on Fred Dirt's hat? Not a video. I think it changes by Different teams. I just think it's always A red MLB hat. I think it could be the reds, The Yankees. It could be the ranger, The backburns. You don't know. It was worth that. That's true. Okay. Fred Dirt's hat. Here's one. It's a red New York Yankees In a lot of these pictures. Fred Dirt's red hat. It's on Amazon.com. Let's check it out real quick. Guys, they just have the Fred Dirt's hat with the flat Rim. It might be all Yankees. It might be all Yankees. Yeah. I think I know what somebody Is getting for the holidays. It's a Fred Dirt's hat. It's a Fred Dirt's hat. Wow. You can type in anything into Amazon and it has it. Fred Dirt's hat. Hey, why did you shave your Beard, Aaron? Yeah. You had quite the beard. It was pretty good. Well, I had to shave it. I originally grew the beard For our auction costumes, And then we switched what Costumes we were going to do. And so I had to shave it For the auction costume. So, hold on. Hold on.

[1:15:00]Yeah. You just came on and you Said, we haven't talked In two weeks. Mm-hmm. So, I had to shave it For the auction costume. So, hold on. Hold on. Yeah. You just came on and you Said, we haven't talked in Two weeks. Mm-hmm. And I got nothing to tell You guys. Yeah. You didn't talk about your Auction costume? Please. Or any of this stuff? Yeah, I didn't. Yeah, you're right. I guess you'll have to tune In next week to hear. Okay. Well, guess what? I won't be here Because I will have put Rocks in my pocket and Walked into these river Because Aaron, The fact that you Didn't talk about this Ruins my day. And this is a day where I found out you can buy Fred Dirt's hats on Amazon. Top three day. And I did not like my beard. And I found What? Wallace, Wallace like my beard. You guys like my beard. Other guy friends of mine Like my beard. And I did not like my beard. So. And I will say, I did get a lot of One-on-one texts from her About your beard. So you probably should Have. It is true When you think about a guy Crying and jacking off,

[1:16:00]He's got a bit of a beard. Oh, God. That's true. Sad. It's true. It's a fact. Paul. Here's the question. I reached the point. Today where I was like, Because I don't wear a beard Normally. But I don't, I probably shave, Let's say every four or five Days. Me too. I'm not a regular. I don't shave every day. No. But I've got the white beard. And I reached the point Today where I'm like, It has to go. It has to go to you guys Have. It has to go days. Yes. Yeah. Because my beard does not Come in very well, Like up on the cheek. And as soon as I start to Look like I'm like, It's kind of like, It looks like it's like Broaching. It's like a slime mold. It's kind of moving on my cheek. I got to let it go. It looks better. You have days where it's got to Go or not. Oh Like I shave every day for Work. I never go to work without Shaving. Every day. Yeah. I mean, Because I got like a really Patchy Like if I let it grow out, Like for a couple of days, Like I didn't go into work On Friday. So I haven't shaved since

[1:17:00]Thursday. Let's just say, You know So then up at the cabin, I'll always grow out of Beard and try to get a Mustache. But when I'm like, At the cabin, When you're at the cabin, Are you, Are you like sculpting like Mad? Are you like, Shaving part of the neck and Everything? And then maybe after like two Or three weeks, I'll like trim it just a little Bit because it gets really Long But like, God man, You are so new. The only, The only way I was able to Grow it out at all was by Shaving the neck because like The neck is what, Where I get, Where I get has to go. Yeah. Trim it up. Man, it's an everyday beard Guy. Now I kind of want to give All the texture there. Yeah. Let's have a look at some frames And see what happens when It's all done. I mean, It's not like it's all made Out of paper, It's all. I don't feel sad. Last place, You're going to say something Sexiest. Do this man have an electric Razor to see? Is he getting out the

[1:18:00]Shaving cream and shaving Every day? Shaving cream and shaving. Yeah. Even during a I brush, look at that. He's got the brush. That's what I got. They got the brush. Look at that. He has. Oh, so Aaron is broadcasting you from his bathroom. Wow. I thought I was the only guy to have ever broadcast From a bathroom. What's my wandering room slash because of his duty. Oh, that's right. Jesus. That's right. He's got his fucked up shit where he's got like Band-aids in the hallway. I forget that Aaron doesn't keep all his shit Where people keep the shit. That was the old house. I don't know. He just pulled out a shaving kit. And he's not in a fucking bathroom rustle. That doesn't make any sense. You know, it does make sense. Listen, I've heard about professors that give A's, But what about professors with big B's? Professor Booty. Shut the fuck up, Chico, man. Who paid three of those mil for some of that, Aaron? What's another word for pirate treasure? Well, I think it's Booty. Booty. It's so good. It's so good. That's all there is. Yes, I got some more bounce in the fucking bump. And then you want to know why because of the fucking

[1:19:00]Shit I'm in. Alexa, play for Professor Booty. I don't know that there's as much of it on this album As the other Beastie Boys albums. There is nobody that does alternative verses. I don't know if you'd call them verses or lyrics Better than the Beastie Boys. They come in and there's like one guy singing And then all of a sudden they're switching words Like in the middle of the verse. It's playing Professor Booty in my kid's room Next door, just wait. Who does that better than the Beastie Boys? There can't be anyone, right? Like training them, training rams like that. Training the rams like in the middle of a sentence. I guess Run DMC would be the only other choice I could think of. But these guys have such distinct voices. It's clear when they do it. It's like when Slick Rick would be with Dougie Fresh And you're like, I can understand these two. They're different voices. Mostly because Dougie Fresh didn't say a lot of words. Aaron, what did Dougie Fresh sound like? Let's hear that right now. I don't know.

[1:20:00]I'm not sure. Groove Homes or was that the fat boys I'm doing? This was named after, I thought I picked times Jazz organist Richard Groove Homes. This song was used as the theme song for the Ben Stiller show. I mean, it's a great groove. It was composed by three years ago. So I enjoy this album, but it's crazy to me That this song is on the same album as Time for Living. They're totally different music, right? It's crazy. They're incredibly talented. It's all over the place. It hits for me, Russell. I got you. I got you. Because it's a great, they're great individual songs. You put them together. So it's not like you're hearing, Like I think next week we hear the same thing over and over. You're running a percent right. It's a couple of good songs, But you're hearing the same thing over and over. And that's why I think I like this. I got you. Can I admit something to you guys? I forgot that I had to scroll down to find all these songs. So the show is screwed up timing wise Because I thought we were almost done

[1:21:00]And then I scrolled down. We had quite a few more songs. So we should start going. We should lay on that plane, Rob. Pat O'Brien's. I'm there live at PJs. It's got some nice live show energy. I love it. Love it. Mark on the bus. There's our money mark guy. This is the back guy. Not... No? Well, you feel like they're... Yeah, you're right, but you do feel like They're kind of fucking around on that one, for sure. Now the maestro. This is John Cassavetti's daughter Was actually back of vocals on this song. Who is it? The maestro is... Is Rob doing all these in the wrong order? The actor? Yes, I am. You're doing all these in the wrong order. I am. Okay, let's go back. We got Paul and Thomas Maestro. Roof Holmes who very did live at PJs. Mark on the bus who very done. Professor Booty was 18th. 19th in threes. Now I already said chemical brothers.

[1:22:00]You telling me this doesn't sound like Block Rockin' Beats? Listen to this. Block Rockin' Beats. So good. Aaron, is this three, four time? No, it's four. There's some secret patient though. And then finally... There's like some three versus four going on. Wait, play it again. Hell yeah. That's what I'm talking about, Aaron. It's hard to find where the beat is. See, that is so far out of the realm for me. Russell, I don't know where you're at.

[1:23:00]If you had asked me Is this three, four times, is this four times? I would have zero idea what you're talking about. I couldn't tell you that at all. Well, it's a time signature and let me explain it to you. Next up, Namaste. MCA is getting into Buddhism As this album's getting produced. And so it kind of ends with this kind of chill ending. And I got to say, having kind of a frenetic album End with a song like this, I'm here for it. I think it's fun. Yeah, I like it. I like going off with a... Yeah, I'll flip the album on this. Soft groove. Yeah, but I don't want to give my takeaway. Well, listen, Aaron, you don't have to wait anymore to get... Hey, just like Gary Payton, You don't have to wait to get that takeaway Because we're going into the ratings system. God damn. Damn. You guys ever want to hear the greatest person Ever say damn ever? The ratings system. It's the clip of Xavier McDaniel

[1:24:00]Talking about Larry Bird sticking one right in his face. I think it's Larry Bird makes this shot And then they have to like redo the play And Larry Bird says, I'm going to come right here. I'm going to shoot it right in your face. And he does it. Xavier McDaniel looks at the camera and he goes, damn. That's so good. Who's that wrestler? We haven't talked about wrestling in a while. Wasn't there a wrestler who said damn all the time? Oh, for Rook, you're right. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Damn. Ron Simmons, Florida State. I believe at one point, Here's a hot take for our sports fans out there. I believe Ron Simmons was the highest defensive player Ever in the Heisman Trophy up until like Charles Woodson. Really? Yeah. For Rook, the wrestler. If only we had a machine to look that up. Did he play for Lee Corso at Florida State? I believe he may have, God. This is appealing to such a narrow group of people And all of those people. Who do you think listens to our podcast anymore? I think we're, I haven't heard from Sarah.

[1:25:00]I think we're into single digits. Oh, doesn't matter. I listened. I listened more than you guys. Aaron's got to listen back to hear the parody song. I'm going to go back. Listen, we're. Ron Simmons finished ninth in the Heisman in 1979. Wow. Damn. Damn. Damn. He looks at the camera. Hey, you got ninth. Why am I even here? Why did you even invite me to the sports club? Damn. It's probably, you got to get like into your guts. It's damn. I can't. I'm going to wake up my wife. I cannot do that. Damn. You're just choosing not to. You can. Okay. No, I can't. There's speaking of things we should change. We got to just lay down. Lay cool, be cool a little bit. She came into the room. Oh, I can't get into it. That was my rolling going. You guys didn't want to hear about her yelling at me? Next week. Next week. All right. Now, well, next week might be flag draft. We're not sure when this flag draft is going to happen. It's going to happen pretty soon. But speaking of climbing up high, Russell, We're climbing up high on this list, Which of course is the album to get worse

[1:26:00]And worse. This is like going up Mount Everest And it just gets shittier and shittier. You know what I mean? Like you get that to the top of the Mount Everest And it's a gravel parking lot full of broken glass. And you're like, what the fuck? That's what this list is like. And we're all the way up to 263, the BC boys. Check your head. If we think this album belongs here, Rolling Well Tone. Perfect. It's great. If this- 261. 261. 261. If this, hey, I'm sorry, man. I didn't tell you. I'm from the future. Okay. I'm from two weeks from now or next week, Depending on how busy we are. God guys, Christmas. All these season, we got to get podcasts done. We got to get together. Now, or is this a rolling bone? It should not. Triple up. I'm going to think about three on the threes. The rolling bone, it should have been higher up on the list. Why is it way back here? Why is it way up on this Mount Everest That just goes up to gravel and glass? You know what I mean? Why would I go up there? This oxygen tank. Or is this a rolling groan? Okay. This is a rolling groan. This is not very good. What do we think Rolling Well Tone,

[1:27:00]Rolling Bone or Rolling Grown? The 1992 album, Check Your Head by the Beastie Boys. Russell, what do you think? Rolling Well Tone, Rolling Bone or Rolling Grown? You know, I really enjoyed the album. I'm going to go back to what I said earlier. I didn't see the through line. I thought it was all over the place. There were so many different types of music. And part of me was like, wait, This thrash metal isn't as good as other thrash metal. This funk isn't as good as other funk. But I'm super impressed that like, These guys put all types of music on this. I thought it was super fun to listen to. I'm going to go a little different route than Matt earlier. I think three is too many for a band Like the Beastie Boys in the top two 50 or so. So I'm going to say, I think it's rolling groan. I think it's too high on the list. I think they have three from the Beastie Boys In the first two 60 is a little too much, Even though I did enjoy it. I've got Aaron, what do you, My God, I'm going back to the beginning of the show. Aaron, what do you think Rolling Well Tone, Rolling Bone or Rolling Grown, Beastie Boys? Yeah, I appreciate both Matt and Russell's perspectives Which are need more through line.

[1:28:00]And variety is the spice of life. For me, I find myself so frequently now When I'm trying to think of something to listen to That I just want to find an album That has great grooves all the way through. I just want to put on something that has great grooves. And so for me, if I could have, And I know I could curate this myself, But I could, if I could have an album That was just Namaste in threes, what you want, Groove, what's it called, groove homes. Like if I could have an album that was just those grooves, That would be perfect for me Where I'm at in my life right now. So for me, the album's like a little over stuff Because I just want to hear When they're putting down good grooves, But I do appreciate the whole musicality of all of it. I think it's great. So I'm going to call out Rolling Well Tone. Now, Aaron, I do know That you did recently acquire a new laptop. Yeah. I'm thinking, is there a program? Is it like a really cheap Dell? Like, is it a black computer that's got Dell written on it?

[1:29:00]No, it's not. Okay. Let me ask you this, Aaron. Is there a program we could put on there Where we could like put some music on there, Maybe any music we want. And then we could order that music any way we want. Yeah. Russell, can you think of a, Yeah, there's gotta be a program. Okay, maybe a nice visualizer on there. What the fuck, why does nobody else Have visualizers anymore? Matt, what do you think? Rolling Well Tone, Rolling Bone or Rolling Grown? I don't want to take too much time, But Russell, I just want to point a clarification. I think three on the entire list. So I don't think so I'm going to, I'm going to go, I love this album. I love ill communication even more. I like these two better than the first two That we had. You know, we had Paul's Boutique at 125 And License Zill at 192. I would wish ill communication was on Instead of one of those other ones, But I understand that's just me growing up In the early 90s and that's when I was listening to music. So that's why I like it, blah, blah.

[1:30:00]You know, but I think to your point, Russell, having three right here is, it is too many. So I think this absolutely belongs on the list. I think you could switch this one out For me with Paul's Boutique. And then I'd put Paul's Boutique in the 300s or 400s. Drop that one down a little bit, yeah. Drop that one down a little bit. So it's hard. I'm just gonna, I'll say from a Global perspective, this is, it is too many up top here, But we need another one of these down In the 300s or 400s. So I'm gonna say it's rolling grown And should be lower on the list. Again, I want to listen to Weezer. I want to listen to Weezer before Some of this stuff that's coming up here. I get penalized for having a lot of great albums almost Because we've heard them. Well, yeah, but how do I say Switch this, Paul's, we're getting very confused here. I got you. You know why? Confusing myself. A little bit of work, we come up with a system. Let me work on that system.

[1:31:00]I'd say something I could do pretty easily. Rob, a technical thing I would like to point out. So Ron Simmons, there's been other defensive linemen That got Heisman votes. I believe he was the only defensive nose guard To get Heisman votes. That's crazy. A nose guard to get Heisman votes. That got Heisman, finished ninth In the Heisman as a nose guard. It was just him and Al Noga. That's crazy. I think Noga was the guy from Tampa Bay. Warren Sapp. Warren Sapp was it Ian Nose Guard? He didn't get? No, he didn't play a four minute front. They didn't play three. Oh, Aaron with the ball, the nose ball. Unfortunately what you guys didn't know earlier. And I want to point this out. You keep saying this album should be so close to the top. This album, we're going to throw it down the list a little bit. Guys, we're going up the mountain, as I explained earlier. So now we're throwing these albums down the mountain Where it gets more beautiful. And we want to be throwing them up ahead. Oh, I'm too deep in. Listen, unfortunately, you guys are incorrect. Are we going down the mountain?

[1:32:00]No. No, we're going up the mountain, but it's worse. I've already explained this, the gravel and glass. We talked about it. The peak. That's number one. Now we're going down. We're upside down. Think about, you're on the South Pole, So you're upside down. The mountain, you're going down the mountain, But it's to the top. Guys, South Pole Mountain, Why didn't I ever think of this before? What episode is this? 265? Rob, when did your colleague have to stretch you out At the bottom of the mountain? Right? Actually, it was about three-fourths of the way down. That's where Arcade Fire is at, bottom of the mountain. That's where you got stretched out as the Arcade Fire. Wow. The very first highlight on this Warren Sav Highlight tape Also has Dwayne The Rock Johnson on the field with him. We're in number 94. Yeah. The other day, probably either. They're playing in the Sparke. That's the four-man front all the way. Rob Simmons, his waist. When he finished ninth in the high spin, 235 is the nose guard. 230 times. That's Chris. Damn, damn. Damn. That's a bad motherfucker. I got to bleep the last name out,

[1:33:00]But that's some grisly ass in there. You know what I mean? Just busted his ass every day. Damn, dude, 30. Damn. Next up, unfortunately, you guys are incorrect. Shit. This album gets a rolling inspiration. Inspiration. You think about the rap rock guys who come after this. Chemical Brothers, we already talked about Gorillaz, Rage, and Beck. You can hear a ton of Beck we already talked about. I mean, Money Mark is the keyboard intro to where it's at. That's crazy. We talk a little bit more about the hot dog flavored water guy. Oh, let me get back on Amazon. Never enough. We got to think of something else we can type in That's like Fred Durst hat, But it's like just somebody's stuff And see if they sell it on Amazon. Think about what that is. It was some iconic thing. Where are we at on the clock right now? No, god damn it. You got to move it along. I hate it when I go Amazon child. Next up, we have an album that finally answers The question Erin has asked every day. Why can't we get more songs about the? Oh, no, you cannot. Okay. You know what?

[1:34:00]I knew you were gonna like that. We cannot do that. I knew you were gonna like that one. So I already wrote an alternate. Oh, Russell, I'm in your head. So I just beat that all out. But I beat your head, Russell, Because I already wrote an alternate Because I knew you guys would like it. I already know Russell. That kind of makes me want to give your hand up. Next up. Oh, you made it, Russell. An album that reminds me of the news. There's only one person left on the podcast, Erin, Who I wouldn't want to give a hand up to. Oh, we'll see what happens. The next up, an album that reminds me of the news. Power, corruption and liars. And no, I don't mean the news these days is bad. I mean, it's because I watched the news on my computer. So I have to power it on And it doesn't work Because one of the hard drives is corrupted And I have to lie to all my friend That I watched the news Because you guys think all I do Is play video games and eat candy. And that's not true. I do a lot of other stuff. We think you just watch a lot of tech talk too. Rob, do you know where I get my news? Where? I get them from PAPES from the paint boys

[1:35:00]Because I'm the king of New York. Look at me. Open the gates. Open Santa Fe. Russell, I'm with you on the newsies song. Newsies. By the way, it's new order. My typing is so bad. Look what happens here. I think my keyboard is fucked. Hey, Rob, if you will, If you will please refer to me for the rest of the night As the big daddy, I would appreciate it. Hey, listen, big daddy. I cannot tell you. I was out to brunch the other day And guess who sat down at my table? Who's that? It was Jeff Hornasek. It was a jazz brunch. Oh, you're in the Hornasek section. It's time to say. God damn. Oh, you're in the Hornasek section. Hey, Jeff Hornasek, I'm trying to use my android And brunch with my family. Get the fuck out of here. I see Jeff Hornasek in the parking lot. Hey, Jeff, can you come in and act like you know me? And then he comes like, Jeff Hornasek, get your ass out of here. I haven't brunched my family. If he had a jazz tree, It would be with Andrew Klobber Lang

[1:36:00]And whoever else got traded for Charles Barclay or not. Howard Isley was he in there? I can't remember. Thurl Bailey. Bring it on. Sir, you're at a jazz bar. What song would you like to request? Oh, yes, I'll Take Kind of Cool by Miles Davis, please. That's a deep cut. What?
