[00:34]This is like a violation of the text chain. This is not good. This feels like when my kids keep getting reams of copy paper for Christmas and stuff. It's a workplace benefit. You know what I mean? Like, they get that. Some highlight. They get a box of highlighters. I pictured Chad. I pictured Barry. Yeah, he's getting a colonoscopy, and then I picture him going back for a fake mustache. I'm being like, oh, is it time for my colonoscopy now? You know what I mean? I don't know, guys.

[01:01]I am 45. My doctor has not reached out about a colonoscopy yet, but I got to get one. I'm looking forward. I'm actually looking forward to it. I don't think the doctor reaches out on it. Rob, honestly, the only thing that I've been more concerned about with people with going to the doctors is Aaron's been going to that foot doctor all the time. Yeah, I got to get there. But Rob, it turns out we don't get the volunteers. I keep telling you, we don't take volunteers.

So nobody else here goes to the cardiologist as much as I do. I'll tell you what. They gave me a heart monitor I had to wear for four days. I broke it on the first day. And my wife is like, well, that's going to cost you $2,000.

And so, I mean, if they're telling you to wear it, should we be worried if they're telling you to wear it for four days? It broke. I was too strong, okay? I do look like Iron Man when I'm wearing it, though. I know we shouldn't joke like this, but if you could resend that podcast password. It still hasn't changed, right?

Rob, I was at a conference this, this weekend, this last week and, uh, there were, it was like an outdoor reception and they were doing like an hors d'oeuvre pass. They came around, they had like four or five different things. Right. One of them were these little beef Wellington little bites. Oh, they come around and the guy next to me, she goes, Hey, beef Wellington. He goes, why don't you just leave the plate here? Like in a nice way. And she goes, sure. I don't give a shit. Puts it down and walks away. Oh my God. Did he actually take the whole plate of beef?

[07:00]You couldn't, right? I mean, there's probably 250 people at this outdoor thing. And so they set them down. There were probably 15 of them on there and he probably ate three. And then whenever people would walk up and talk with us and be like, Hey, we brought these beef Wellingtons. Oh my God. That's a strong move. That is a strong move. Way to be, way to be a hit at the party. God, that makes me want some beef Wellington. The party. I don't even exactly know what that is, a beef Wellington, but I'm, it's like a, it's like beef with bread around it. Wrapped in a puff pastry, right? Yeah. It's kind of like the, the, the pig in a blanket, right? That's right. Y'all go step up.

[12:32]It turns out the ice dancing this year, the theme every year, you get to pick your own music if you're a male or female figure skater, unless you are an ice dancing. Then, they have what they call a rhythm dance, and they get to pick the type of music. Now, bizarrely, the type of music they played was 90s hits. Oh, nice. So, like the U.S. did it to a compilation. It's not a compilation. That's something different.

[13:00]To like a mashup of Lenny Kravitz. Somebody else did Madonna's Vogue. We had, listen to this. The Canadians did a mashup of Supermodel, You Better Work by RuPaul, and I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred. Nice. We got the Spice Girls. We got, and then, you know, of course, Backstreet. He probably doesn't want to get his hands on it. This guy... And he did it twice. It was a long enough flight where they did two tours with the cart. He really... He did a... Two times he did a SunChip, picked... Opened the bag up, picked it up, and, like, shoveled them into his mouth directly from the bag. He got the whole bag. What are your thoughts? The whole thing? Or was it, like, a three or four... I'd say he got the whole little bag down in, like, two to three shovels.

Pick it out like normal people. I do have to defend him a little bit, though, Russell, in saying that the SunChips bag, somehow on the plane, they have a size that is found nowhere else in nature. Yes. That size of SunChip bag does not exist except for on a plane, and it's so much smaller than you think. It is extremely small. I think it's like when I used to take pictures of my penis next to a golf pencil.

[27:00]I wanted to share, uh, well, I, I will, I, I was doing some winter sports this weekend. So I will talk about that. Um, Wallace was watching curling and he called it broomball and I had to be like, well, I can understand where you're coming from with that, but it's not broomball, but yeah. Um, but I, before I share, uh, my winter sports adventures, I do want to say, uh, I won a trivia two weeks ago, uh, on a Tuesday night, just me and one other guy. Is that a new tattoo on the forearm? Uh, no, but I usually have my watch.

[27:30]I got this one. I got a whale. It's like I had a new, that's new. I got a whale. Thanks for noticing. Pull your pants back up. That's a good joke. Uh, and I want to say, uh, one of the, I would say, I would say one of the big difference makers at trivia was that I was perhaps the only person in the bar who recognized both the song and the artists for Nelly's hit. It's pimp juice. So I was really proud of myself that I nailed pimp juice from the start.

[28:00]I don't think anybody else rose Rosie's wife at gmail.com was also impressed. Probably. I was really proud of myself. So that was a moment. Wow. Had to share. So, yeah. And then I would say, uh, we went up to Tahoe on Friday night and then yesterday, uh, Deb and I went, uh, downhill skiing. And then, uh, today all three, all three of us and, and ended in cross country on our own yesterday, today, all three of us did cross country, um, yesterday. Wallace took a lesson in the morning and I went skiing with his two friends who were up there and their parents.

[28:30]So he has twins who are friends of his, who are in his class and they've been skiing their whole lives. So they're eight and they kicked my ass. I could, I, I did two hours, not quite two hours of the absolute, I've not done, done downhill that much in my life. I did two hours of the best skiing I've ever done. The steepest things I've ever been on. And these two eight-year-olds had to wait for me multiple times on every run. They just dominated me.

[29:01]Wow. Wow. I was like out there doing what I thought was my absolute best. And every time I had to just watch them, they say, do they say anything to you? Like, oh, good job. You know what I mean? Oh, you're no, no. What, what was really funny though, was that then they were very kind to ski with Wallace in the afternoon. So Wallace is like much more of a beginner, but he'd made great progress yesterday and you know, like eight-year-olds. Eight-year-old's confidence is just amazing. Like I had been skiing with these two kids in the morning. They were just whooping my ass.

[29:30]And then they say in the afternoon, like, yeah, we'll ski with you, Wallace. And so we get on the lift to do the green runs and he's like telling them what's what he's like, Wallace is like giving them the rundown of like how it's going to go. Like trying to tell them like how to ski. And I'm like, I cannot explain to you how much better these kids are than you and me. It was incredible. He was giving it, giving him the business, but it was a great day. We had a really nice time. And, um, every day. Every time I think about downhill skiing, when I'm not up there, I think like, this is an elitist sport. I'm not even going to worry about it.

[30:01]I'm going to do cross country. That's fine. It's much more egalitarian. And then you go do downhill for a day and it's so fun and beautiful. And then you hit the apres ski and you're like, well, maybe I could do this once in a while. There's, there's something about a ski chalet, isn't there? And I don't want to sound like, when I say that I sound like a real rich guy, but eating something about taking your boots off and that feeling, and then eating an overpriced chicken sandwich, you're like, is this heaven? You know what I mean? Like the chalet, I think is where I would hang out most of the time though.

[30:31]Yeah. I had like a, I had a, it was Saturday. I had a chicken wrap that was labeled Friday and I was like, I don't care. And I had a beautiful, delicious beer. I'm fine. I don't care. Like it's an amazing place to be. Yeah. So that. It's one of the few times, Aaron, where you're like, well, time to eat with a tray. You know what I mean? You're back to tray eating. Yep. I'm doing the tray. I'm getting a powerade. I'm getting a chocolate milk. I'm getting a coconut water. I'm getting fries. It's a wrap. You're, you're desperately looking around for someplace to sit and all their other thousands of pairs of ski boots that people have just left out.

[31:01]Yeah. Yes. It's the busiest place. You're trying to, you're trying to walk around in these boots that you can't walk around in very well. It's hard to find a space to sit. Every, it costs about $1 billion and they have all the snacks out. Yeah. Your kids want the cookie. They want the, they want the whole thing. They know what they're doing. Yeah. They always want the most expensive stuff. Yeah. He had a great time. I did some skiing. I was proud of myself. It's still not as good as the eight year olds, but I did my best. Wow. I got to share. I had one ski trip in my life. I'm not a skier. I'm terrified of heights, but I've been on one ski trip. It was with Aaron. I was with Russell. Yes. And a bunch of other people from St. Olaf college.

[31:32]And I think it was our, probably our sophomore year of college. I think that's right. Yeah. Yeah. We had a group of 21 yet, so we couldn't find booze anywhere. We, so we had a group of about 10 of us, men and women that went, we took like two vans and drove out there. And then we had other friends that were out there too. Some of these guys were the guys that didn't like to pass the basketball in basketball. Wow. But so. So we go out there. Here are my remembrances. So I don't ski. One of the ladies on our trip falls, concussion, emergency room.

[32:02]Another woman on our trip falls, emergency room, torn ACL. We had two emergency rooms in two days. Russ, hand slammed in a car door in Bismarck, North Dakota, while we were driving to Bismarck. And hang on. I got to, I got to explain. Hand slammed in a door where he was sitting in the backseat and his fingers were. In the front seat of the car. Like the door closed all the way. It latched on his hand. Oh my God. It latched on the throw up.

[32:30]I can see. Yes. Russell, were you skiing in North Dakota? Because if that's the case, I don't think heights are what you have to worry about. We were in Big Sky, but we were, it was a straight drive. We drove overnight through North Dakota to get to Big Sky, Montana, Rob. Yeah. Oh my God. You went to like a real big trip. Holy cow. So on the way out there, one of our buddies also, this was at the point where he started hating everyone that we went to college with. Oh, right. And he threatened and demanded that he be able to drive his own car and said, if, if no one, if people didn't like that, he would drive himself and everyone else could ride

[33:03]in there. So he threatened to like do his own. He's got two vans and he's going to drive himself. Yeah. I forgot about that. So many fun people we met in college. We also have a condo where my favorite memory is one of the guys on the text chain wearing leopard underwear and going down, going down a fire pole in leopard underwear. Wow. I'll let you guess who that would be. There's just, there's really so few choices. And then my favorite Aaron, we were not 21, but we did try to buy beer at a liquor store

[33:36]on the drive out there. And a few of us walked in. Yep. The guy looked at me and Aaron in the face and he goes, I can't sell this to you. And we kind of freaked out. He goes, we don't sell beer in here before six in the morning. We tried to buy beer at like 5 AM. And then the other favorite thing. So we had a great time. A group, different kind of people that were hanging out with each other. And two of the guys were kind of had, had enough of everyone. They went and did their own thing.

[34:00]They went to a bar one night and the rest of us went and hung out at the other condo. We get back. These guys are talking. You wouldn't believe all the women at this bar. We got so many drinks. It was the great, they're going off like for an hour about how amazing of a time they had. So they're going to go out the next night. And some of the people are going back to the kind of like, I'm not going to that condo to hang out if these guys are having all this fun. So I go with these guys, we get to the bar, it's dead. They look at me and they say, Russ, we lied to everyone last night was super boring, but

[34:31]we wanted to make you guys feel bad for not coming with us. There's going to be nobody. Like we sat at the bar by ourselves. We drank, but like they lied about how fun the bar was. We can't be lying about how far the fun, the bar is Russell. That that's one of the lowest things to lie about. Fun, selfish, just selfish. I mean, when, when I'm having so much fun on this podcast right now doing this, I couldn't even imagine lying about having fun. That'd be crazy. No, no, that, that wraps up my rolling going. [35:02]I had a few drinks. It was, it was Valentine's day. I got so weird. I realized like I'm the only one texting on Valentine's day. It's probably not a too good of a sign of how my night went. I would guess the right way to put it. I mean, I was at the Spring Hill suites in Truckee with my whole family in one room. So, and we were all asleep by nine o'clock, we went out to eat and then we got back. And I put on Taylor Swift red, it's got like four albums, four records. I think there's like eight sides to the album, right?

[35:31]Yup. Yup. Put it on, start playing it. And there's this guy singing and I'm like, oh, that's kind of weird. Maybe I put it on one of the side Bs or something. And we've, we've heard some of her songs before who was at bony bear, whoever she's got that duet with. I was like, oh, maybe that's just, she's got a song on here that I don't recognize or whatever. Start playing another song. It's still another male singer. Keep going and keep going. And I'm like, what is going on? Am I, am I crazy? What, what's going on here? And I start Googling, I'm sending texts. I'm calling Rob at like 12:09 in the morning, seeing if he'll pick up and tell me what's

[36:03]going on. And finally I look it up. The Taylor Swift red Taylor's version has to be played at a different speed, or you're going to hear something completely different. Like it might be the same song, but it's a male voice. It's deeper and wider grooves. That's what they call it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's the concept. They're looking for the deeper, wider grooves. Every post on this Russell is on Facebook, which makes me think this is a problem for people who are anywhere from 55 to 155 years old.

[36:34]But honestly, my guess is most younger people don't have vinyl, right? Like most people are using Spotify. They're not going to have their, they would never run into the issue. Let's see what it sounds like. I thought that was a male singer.

[37:01]I'm kind of enjoying it actually. That's kind of wild to hear. The parts that I don't get is you said the first three or four songs are all sung. Did you listen through all the songs? No. So speed that must've taken forever. That must've taken you hours. No, I think I, I think I listened to the first two and a half songs and I figured the first one. Oh, maybe I put it on like, cause I think there are H whatever eight, I think there's eight sides to the record. Yeah. And so I was like, oh, maybe I accidentally put it on side C or something and you're not going to get the hit song right away. And I was like, maybe it's a duet or something.

[37:30]It took, it took me 10 minutes. Why? Why? I would have no idea that there's different speeds. I just thought there were little records and big records. I didn't know you would play the big one at a different speed. That's crazy. Right? Well, it's, it's actually rare to have the big one be a 45 RPM record. That's usually the singles. Yeah. But it was, it was, you could tell Russell's slow descent into madness. Because he was texting us. He's like, she's on the cover. He like sent us a photo of the cover. He's like, she's on the cover. This is not some weird album.

[38:00]So if the question is, did Russell have any drinks over Valentine's day? The answer is Russell listened to three songs played on slow speed in the text. That's about it. I think the answer to that is we were at this restaurant and I ordered another drink and the, the waiter actually kind of looked at me and kind of like made it clear. He wasn't going to get me another one. He gave me the gas station. Yeah. You gave me the gas station in Montana. I can't serve that to you, sir. He gave me the eggy. I mean, I don't know. I ate vegetables. I ate vegetables. Not enough cream cheese. It was very dry. Uh, the frosting to, to cake mixture, uh, ratio was not good. I don't know.

[41:00]This was a while ago. So I remember, but there's nothing worse than a let, I mean, like, I don't, do you guys order dessert a lot? I rarely ordered. I almost never do. So if I was going to order dessert, I'd want it to be really good. This lady talked me into it, right? Like we've got great carrot cake and can I tell you what I'm up to now is first of all, we get dessert almost every time. I'm just gonna tell you. We're a dessert family, but it's always tiramisu or creme brulee. It's never like, we're never thinking, although often when we're on vacation, Jenny will order every dessert that's on the menu. Like that's how big of a dessert family is.

[41:31]She'll order five desserts. If like the four of us are just sitting there, she wants to try all the desserts. Wow. Yeah. I weighed a hundred pounds, by the way, she's thinking about moving up another weight class. She is now in the 69 kilo weight class and she was talking today about going up Aaron. That would be up since she started lifting almost 50 pounds. Can you imagine what my life is like right now? I'm just like this. I'm like, I'm like sir mix a lot sitting on the big butts. You know what I mean? I'm so happy. My wife is getting so large. I'm tightening those toilet seats like crazy at my house right now.

[42:02]I still don't understand the toilet seat tightening, but the rest of it is just going haywire here. It's like those rally cars where they're moving around. That's what it's like when she's sitting on the toilet seat and don't look at me and don't think about what it's like when I sit on a toilet seat, I would never. Okay, good. Last couple things that too bad flight experiences, Russell one, the, the, the person who behind

[42:30]you is tapping the screen like they're playing a game or something, you don't realize a proper podcast. What do we do when someone's taking a flight? I don't understand. I'm trying to, I mean, I'm just trying to get like an hour, you're doing horrible on the clock right now. And that means I can ask for the flights on, if you're talking a flight story, that's true. We did wait like, we did wait like eight minutes to Rob to get all this shit. That's true. Right.

[43:00]That was hard. I was dialed. Uh, but the person who's behind tapping the screen, like they're playing a game or something, doesn't realize how fucking annoying that is to the person. Yep. Matt on the flight home. I took a thousand and 25 hypothetical credits off of the Delta blackjack machine. So I'm going to tap it that you know what, you know where I'm definitely tapping it. When that motherfucker in front of me leads that seat back, then you're for crime.

[43:30]I'll say it again. It should be a war crime. Uh, and then maybe, maybe the worst thing that I have found, I was on a plane and I was way in the back for once. So hanging out with all the normal folks and there was a guy in the middle, no, no guy in the end. Uh, on the aisle and a girl gal in the middle and the gal clearly, clearly had a crush on this guy or wanted to talk, but it was so loud because she's so excited to talk to this guy.

[44:00]And you know, with the engines back there and you can't hear, she was so loud for two and a half hours, not okay to talk through the whole plane ride, like 10, 15 minutes. Great. You want to take a little break, talk a little awesome. She was asking him and this guy clearly doesn't talk to chicks very often. Kind of a thing. Yeah. If you can read between the lines. And so he was just having a great, I felt great for him, but I wanted to punch the gal between the, I think it's no, I think there's no talking from wheels up to wheels down.

[44:31]I think there is, should be no, like, I think, I think you could be there with your family and there should be no talking on that. It hurts your neck to turn to the side and talk like you just, you sit facing forward. You enjoy the quiet. You don't, you don't know how annoying it is. It's just like the person who wants to just see the outs. Out the window. Yeah. So they got their shade up. They don't realize that they're like blinding seven people on the other side of the plane. It's having the, the, the shade up, like just have a little common courtesy people. To be fair. Sometimes I've heard that people are sitting next to people who are very loud on the plane.
