The Byrds: Mr. Tambourine Man (1965) ep. 287

Beck Did It Better Podcast 1965
About this episodeHey everyone,  Look out for those bedposts this week as we talk a Faux British invasion and we go deep underground for the Byrds/ Bob Dylan mash up of Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. We talk going up to Alaska, barfing on a boat, getting your fiber and why Hublots just plain blow on this three man weave of an episode.  Then we turn up the treble and listen to this divisive album while also talking about the biggest mining disasters of all time (these days it would be a data mining disaster)  Next week we talk The modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers. If you have heard of the band, I am impressed.

[0:00]I was a man of Biodome earlier. We were watching Biodome in the house today. Oh, my God. Hey, how can I get dumber? You know, there's so much media. Hey, buddy. Hey, buddy. Hey, buddy. We could watch a Ken Burns documentary. We could get smarter. You know, the movies you pick, it really is setting an example for your kid. And you watch Biodome. Yeah. Do you want to watch your wife fall less in love with you by the second? Just say, oh, yeah, I watched this a ton as a kid. It's going to be funny. Oh, not good. Aaron. And then I'd be able to watch the dude to do the podcast. I'll just say it again. I will never forget showing Austin Powers to my children and making them sit there and just being like it. No. Russell, they could not get past the first three minutes. They go, what's going on? And I was like, well, he's like a guy from the 60s who likes to have sex. And they're like, why is this funny? And I was like, you said these words all the time. Like, this movie got quoted more than you could possibly ever imagine.

[1:00]Wallace did watch last night that he liked even better than Biodome. Homer at the Bat. But I, Russell, I'm so confused, Russell. I thought the softball song was in the Homer at the Bat episode. And it's not. It's like a one-off elsewhere, right? No, it's in the credits. So the credits at the end. The closing credits. He must have watched the credits because he was like, no. Ozzie and the Straw. Yes. That would be a fucking all-time killer karaoke song. If you sang Homer at the Bat at like a bar, people will put you on their shoulders and carry you out of there. Carry you right off, whether you pass out or not. You know what I mean? Now, I have to admit, normally when you find yourself at a karaoke bar, everybody is about your age. That's what I find. There's very rarely a karaoke bar where it's like, I hope there's not a bunch of hot 20-year-olds there. You know what I mean? I hope they're not going to come in and get mad when I'm singing Night Rage.

[2:00]Or something like that. They better not try to do this Ariana Grande stuff. All right. How about this? You two back and forth until one of you cannot name a team member of Homer at the Bat. Okay. Rob, you go first. Okay. Well, he watched it the other day, but that's okay. I'll say Mark McGuire. I think you're out. He's out. He's not on the team. What? Okay. Conseco. Conseco. Conseco. Yeah. Matty Lee and Conseco. Steve Sachs. Oh, good one. I'll say Wade Boggs. He had a run-in with the law, I believe. Yeah. I'll say Wade Boggs, even though he was technically kicked off the team. Did he have the grotesquely swollen jaw or that? No. No. That was Darryl Strawberry. No. No. Darryl Strawberry, I think, had a drinking problem or something like that. Yeah. He drank the stuff that made his head big. Remember? He drank the brain tonic. He loved it. It made his big jaw. Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the bar room tile.

[3:00]Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs. Wade Boggs was the drunk. Yes. That's not even inaccurate. What's the story about him drinking a hundred beers on a flight or something, right? A hundred and thirteen beers in a flight. A hundred and thirteen beers. Imagine that case of beer Joe showed us at one time where it was like a perverse, like A hundred cans of beer in one thing. And then you had that and you go, damn, I can go for about thirteen more. You know what I mean? Like on a flight. But you know what? I get it. Because that's back when flights didn't have like TVs and stuff, but back when there was No TV. Russell and you said, oh, I got to drink a hundred and thirteen beers. I would think about it big time. You ever gotten, you ever had, what's the most amount of drinks you've had on a flight? Russell, what do you think? Three, four drunk on a flight? Yeah. No, I usually don't drink on a flight. I maybe once or twice when I sat up in comfort plus with Matt, but usually I don't drink On a flight. Maybe one drink max. The only time I did get quite drunk in Seattle before flying home and like almost fell asleep In the airport before I got on the plane.

[4:00]So, but otherwise I'm, I'm a pretty. Sober flyer. Our most was going to Hawaii. We took a 8am flight. First time we ever went to Hawaii and we were first class and they on Alaska airlines and They give you like a mimosa when you get on and they say, do you want another mimosa? And then you order like a beer and then like they give you like a free rum punch. Yeah. So I think we each had maybe six drinks and then you land and it's 10am in Hawaii. No, not good. It's not good. Not good at all. That was rough. That's and, and I'll tell you what, when you get off at that Honolulu airport, Aaron, There's not much there. You know what I mean? Like, it's not like, there's not a lot going on there. So you're kind of out on the tarmac or you're kind of like, Oh God, this is a bright light. And we, yeah, we couldn't check into our place till four p.m. We just like went to a beach and fell asleep. Can I just say something about this? Hotels figured the fuck out. Okay. I should be able to fucking check in. You listen I don't know if you got to get AI involved or what How many people are leaving.

[5:00]You know, how many people are coming in. Figure it the fuck out where I can check in on a room at like 10 a.m. That doesn't seem crazy to me. I should be able to check in by noon. Okay. There's got to be empty rooms, right? There's never like a hundred percent. Rob, what about this hot take? What's that? You can get in your room early. It's not even cleaned, but you can get your stuff in. You can set your stuff down. You can change and leave your stuff and they'll come change it later. Like this would revolutionize the hospitality industry. You know what? That's true. I'll tell you what. Give me, I would pay you 20 bucks. Give me some sheets. Just give me a couple sheets, a pillowcase. Send me up to the room. I'll make my own bed. I'll do it. I'll put all the shit outside. I don't care. A towel, some toothpaste, some sheets. Okay. You don't know. They don't give you toothpaste. You do if you travel with my family, Russell. Nobody in my family brings toothpaste when they travel. It's aggravating. Okay. And it's aggravating because I'm expecting somebody else to bring a toothpaste. You know what I mean? I'm like, and so then you're using the hotel toothpaste.

[6:00]It's the smallest toothpaste known to man. It's a Lilliputian size toothpaste. And you've got to save that for the whole trip. Forget about it. Going to Hawaii from New York is too far. I mean, it just is. It's far. My wife will do it, but this, because they have the lay down beds and she's always like An excuse to spend the money that she earns. So rude. You know what I mean? We've talked about this before. Like, so what, what's a flight for you, Aaron, to Hawaii? How many hours? It's between five and six hours. So like, For Rob to get to London, we've talked about this with Rob going to London. Like it's no big thing, but yeah. Right. Yeah. New York to Hawaii flight times. Ooh, it's only 800 bucks right now. Let's see. Where would I put time? They're right there at the top. It was like, what's right there at the top. Could you get, could you pull the Wade Boggs in a 10, 10 hour and 50 minute Flight? Could you get 10 hours drinks down? Okay. 10 hours.

[7:00]10 hours and 50 minutes. Could I drink 113, 12 ounce beers? Could I basically drink 10 drinks an hour for 10 hours? Jesus Christ. Okay. Hold on. Hold on. I need to be accurate here. Andre, the giants famous for the one 13. I'm reading Wade Boggs is somewhere between 73 and one Oh seven. Yeah. But now I'm also reading that was 64 to 73. So I think Wade Boggs is down there further. Under one. Wow. Yeah. Okay. So, Although he, He did tell Charlie on, On episode of always sunny in Philadelphia, You said it was 107. Yeah. They did a famous episode where they tried to recreate it. Hey, You trust in that guy's judgment after 107 beers and how many he had. I really counting them all. Get the fuck out. I got a feeling if you're putting down a hundred some beers on a plane, I would actually think that maybe you could handle it. You know what I mean? Like for, Do even attempt a hundred beers. Like if I told you I had, What number would you be alarmed? If I told you, Like if I said I have 20 beers on the plane for a cross country flight,

[8:00]Yes. Of course it's alarming, But I do think like if someone told me someone drank 20 beers on an 11 hour Flight. Okay. Yeah. I would say it's still alarming, But I think it's possible. Yeah. What if somebody said 40? That's where you start to be like, Yes, Exactly. That's strange. That's like a strange belief a little bit. Like if the liquor store doesn't sell the amount in something you could just Grab with a hand. It's too much. Yeah. You know what I mean? Sir, That keg, You need to put the keg sideways to fit it in the overhead bin. Don't worry about it. I think I've had days in Vegas where I might've had 20 drinks over a whole Day. Holy shit. Non-stop drink. Yeah. Can you imagine where we did 20? Imagine how pittle full Rob's pants would be if he had 113 beers At a flight, Right? Like his cat is all over his khaki shorts would just be torn to shit Guys from his going to the, His drippage. I had,

[9:00]I had an all time. I was going to do this as a rolling on. I had an all time. Piss my pants moment the other day where I was on a college visit with my Daughter. Okay. So you can't go to the bathroom, Bro. College. You can't go to college visit. So of course, Russell, You know, I've got the dog. The dog also went on the college visit with us. Walk around, Went in the science center dog in the dorm room. It was a dog. Yeah. Oh, They loved it. Everybody loved it. They thought it was great. Okay. Just like all dog owners think everybody loves my dog. They think it's great. It's in the restaurant with them. And then afterwards we went to a restaurant with my daughter and a Daughter's friend. And as I was peeing in the urinal, I was like, God, This is just his hitting the year. You know what I mean? When the urinals wrong, It's just at the wrong height. It's got the wrong angle and you start peeing and you just feel a Bunch on your shin. And don't comment if that doesn't happen to you guys. Okay. You know how that happens. And then I came out and I looked down. Yeah. And of course I did the fact I looked down Russell, You know what I, And I'm not just saying Russell, It could be anybody out there. The fact I looked down where you have to look down and then kind of

[10:00]Lean forward to really get like the, It was easily the size, The, A dark mark on my shorts, The size of a soda can. Something went terribly wrong. I don't even know how the pipes got bent that way. I, Nothing, But it was a crazy, And I had to walk across a crowded restaurant to my table, Which was like one, The very end. So I was like, What do I do? It's too way too low to pull my shirt down, Do the normal move, The shirt pulled out with the short shorts. Okay. So you know what I did? Aaron own in front. What had to walk with the phone in front? Oh, That's smart. But I've got a, I've got a 17 max barely, Barely covered it. Aaron. That's when you know that you've peed your pants too much. By the way, Drunkest I ever got is that flight out to Las Vegas where I told the Women I wore hearing aids. And that's why I was being so loud. All right. In 2024, Friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums. You guys also forgot Mike. Socia Mike. Socia was on.

[11:00]Oh, Okay. We're at the bat. Lenny, Lenny Dykstra. I don't think Lenny Dykstra was on it. I think it's Socia, Maddie Lee, Saks, Ozzie Smith, Wade Boggs, Daryl Strawberry, Ken Griffey, Jr. Canseco, Clemens clocking like a chicken on the mound. Yeah. Wow. And then it's Homer. I think that's the team. That's it. Wow. I was told me that there was a Lenny guy. So I thought it was, I think Lenny's like the drunk at the bar. Yeah. Ah, Okay. Oh, He said that Lenny guy. And I assumed it was Lenny Dykstra. Wow. Cause I, I'll save it for my ruling going. I didn't watch the entire episode. I knew we were in trouble, Aaron, When Russell challenged us and we each got like one wrong immediately. And he was like, You guys are idiots. He's no, I know. I know. Russell knows this. Like Russell got it. Russell's media knowledge is so hit and miss with me. I just will never figure out what exactly he knows. This resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music, Excoriated the order and led us to making this podcast. We are far from experts. We promise to do almost no research. All opinions are our own. Unless you disagree, Please sit back and enjoy a Beck did it better.

[12:00]We are all the way up to, To album two 87. And from 1965, We had the album that answers the question. What if we took a bunch of Dylan songs and added electric guitar? Could we make a top 500 album? Now we're talking. Okay. And these songs are good, But what if we just did them? Top 500 album. Thank you. Now I've got three guys here. Scratch record scratch. We've got two Matt. We, We sent out a text today saying, Hey, By the way, Everybody remember, We planned a week ago. We're going to meet today. Matt just goes, Remember, I'm not coming now. Before we started recording, None of us could remember. We all said, Is there, Are you in a separate text chain with Matt? Are you in a separate text? And of course I am talking about these two guys, But I would never tell them that. And I don't think, I think Matt finally this year, Just figured it out. He doesn't bring the recording info to the cabin. And so he can just be like, It's all right.

[13:00]Don't do it. He has figured it out. Is this the first episode that we've done without Matt? Just the three of us. It is. I think the first, Just, I think we've had a replacement for Matt other times, But I think it's the first three men weave that this team has done. Wow. Yeah. My mom. Let's see. Now we're going to find out how important Matt is to this podcast. I've got a bad feeling. I feel like it's very important. Yeah. We've already, Let's see. Should we, Should we even look at the timer right now? This might be bad guys. We might be doing a four hour episode with no Matt pressuring us. Oh my God. 16 minutes in. And we've only talked about the Simpson softball team. Listen, We've got two guys here. So I was, So listen, Matt, We know what you're doing and that's fine. This is like, You know what? This is like Russell. When Dennis Rodman just had to go to Vegas for a couple of days. You got to go to Vegas. I need a vacation. Yeah. He's kind of the Dennis Rodman of the podcast. You know what I mean? You got to let him have his vacation. Like you're Phil Jackson. You know, You got to let him go. Yeah. I it's just, And who else would you picture having sex with Carmen Electra?

[14:00]Not me, Matt Luke Longley. Yeah. You put another shrimp on the Bobby. Craig Hodges. Was he celibate? Is Luke Longley celibate? Do you think I would not know that? Of course he was not an Australian basketball player in the U.S. Aaron, he was wearing it like a mask. He was wearing, he was going crazy. Sorry, I was actually throwing out Craig Hodges, but no, yeah. Luke Longley was like, this is like, this sucks. And be a playover would be Bill Weddington. Like there's no way like seven foot Bill Weddington in his beard is getting With Carmen Electra. What? Probably not. No, guys, I was talking about us as co-hosts, which, Because if you picture me having sex with Carmen Electra, You're picture me making a mistake. Aren't you? I'm fumbling something. I'm doing something wrong. You know what I mean? Like I hit my boner on the bed post or something.

[15:00]That feels like a minor infraction. It feels like you can come back from that. What do you mean? I'm down in the mines all night and I'm so tired That I come out and hit my boner on the bed post. That's salvageable. I think, yeah. You know what? That would not stop me. What could you do to your boner that would stop you from having sex? Like just punching it? Like if somebody punched it, I'd be like, it doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt. Let's go. I don't want to talk about gruesome boner stuff. Yeah, I don't like this uppercut. I've got two guys here wondering if there's ever a time That you could make a living as a tambourine man. You know what I mean? Because now it seems like everybody's a tambourine man consultant. They're going to tell you where to put the tambourine men, But you can't find the tambourine men out there. Okay. Is that a funny joke to you guys in the business world? I feel like it is. I think so. Okay. Guess what? Rob, note to self. Don't ask them anymore if the jokes are funny. You're not going to get the answers. You're looking for it. Listen, let's not mess around anymore.

[16:00]Let's get right into the boys. You're going to introduce us? We have two guys here. After I introduce them. I got two guys here. I've got Russell in Minneapolis. Russell, how are you doing? Hey, Mr. Podcast man. Play a parody song for me. Play the parody song, Rob. Okay. Now listen, we've got to have some real talk here. First of all, recording a parody song at the cabin is humiliating Because everybody can hear you. Second of all, I cannot tell you how many parody songs I tried to come up with. And you know what the only line is? I came up with that stuck. Let's hear it. Aaron is a boring man who likes feet. No, no. I know that's the thing is I'm like, first of all, I listened to some of these old episodes where I mean to Aaron. I feel terrible. Second of all, it's the least true thing. Aaron is not a boring. Aaron's the least boring. Now listen, he does love feet. Okay. The arches, the heels, the toes, The webbing between the toes. Okay. The top of the feet for some reason. Oh, I like the top of the feet. What a freak. Okay. Second of all, Aaron is not a boring man.

[17:00]He's one of the most interesting people I know, Which is why he's on the podcast. Okay. Much more interesting than I am. So listen, but Aaron, how are you doing? Interesting. Well read and he's never had a problem With a boner on the side of a bed post. Never, I've never hit a boner on a bed post For the disrobed faceless forms of no position, Told him for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts. Wow. Let's gaze upon this album and talk about the birds Covering Bob Dylan. He can have boner on the bed post, deep dive. Let's take Bob Dylan's sound And just remove all the masculinity And see how that goes. Aaron, can I just say this? I hate this song, I hate this music so much. Can I just say this? Do you guys even have bed posts? No. Are you guys living in a bed post earlier? I was like, I wouldn't even know what that is. Aaron, you got a bed post? Is a bed post go, does that go from the bed up? I see, I think a bed post goes up to like your stomach. The leg, I don't call it a leg is the one that's No, a leg is underneath the bed. The bed post is when it comes up. Like goes up to the ceiling.

[18:00]No, that's how. No, I don't have a bed post. Like a princess bed, like a draper around it. It's not a princess bed. It like sticks up halfway because you wouldn't hit your Boner on the thing going all the way up. I guess you could. Let's see. Like it's like this is what a bed post is, Russell. It's a bed like this where it's just coming up Like it's the Taj Mahal. Oh, that just looks like a torture device. Yeah. So it's the leg just keep, the leg comes up About another foot above the bed. Yeah. That's, that's what a bed post is. And that's what you hit your boner on. What's the bed post there for? That's a great question, Russell. What is the purpose of bed post? Now, when I try to search something on the internet, All of you immediately froze, Which makes me think I should not do it anymore. Okay. So I'm not going to search what a bed post is. As much as I want to see what a bed post is for, I am not going to search that right now. In fact, let's get into the Not as useful as a duvet cover To whatever the hell you guys were talking about Months back. Russell, not only do I put on the duvet cover

[19:00]With Jenny, we tie the duvet inside the duvet cover. So it doesn't move. Can you imagine? I'm doing fucking knots on a duvet. I burned my house down before I would do that shit. Ways of my time. God damn. I feel like doing knots on a duvet, There's got to be a tough gun joke in there. Maybe a sailing joke, knots. On a duvet though, Aaron, The duvet is a tough part with that joke. I'm not going to lie. Duvet is the joke. Yes. I'm not going to lie here. This voice smells two and a half minutes long And it's a little rambling And you'll never guess who left it. Hey, guys, this is a long time. No. Wow. Hey, this is Todd. Hey, oh, I just have to point this out. Bryce is not only calling and leaving a voicemail After years of us thinking he doesn't listen to the podcast. Aaron was just with him recently. I was with him. That's how long ago. So I think he has been activated, But now Bryce has brought in another member To the podcast named Todd.

[20:00]Now we don't know Todd. We don't know anything about Todd. Todd doesn't know anything about us, But I'm going to tell you guys what. Todd is game on this voicemail. By the way, this is Todd's always game. This is part one of the Bryce triptych That we're going to have tonight. Oh my God. In the next episode. So Aaron, who is Todd exactly? Just describe Todd. Todd is a Todd is a savant. He's, he also went to. Now, okay, pause. I'm so sorry, pause. Russell, can you imagine If somebody, the first word they described you As it was savant. Hey, what do you think about Russell? Yeah, I gotta go with savant. Like that would not happen for me. You could probably come up with a million words Before anyone could call me a savant. Like literally a million. You can call me like a world-class World War II general. And then people would get that before They'd call me a savant. God, I'd love to be called a savant. Aaron, can you do me a favor? If Todd asks about me, just say I'm a savant. I'll say Rob is a savant. Please, thank you. Todd went to social work school with Bryce.

[21:00]Todd grew up in various places around the country, Including Arcadia, California, And Transylvania, Kentucky. So he's a Kentucky Wildcat and Laker fan. Ivaan Dusak, you're a bourbon. And knows so much about music. Boomer sooner, yeah. He did come out to visit us one time with Bryce And he sat down and pounded out Metallica on the piano. Like he could play Metallica on the piano. So you guys will get along, Russell. So yeah, I'm sure Todd has some good thoughts here. Todd, I will say Rob, One thing about Todd that you two have in common Is that Todd writes material before Hangouts. Like before Hangs when people use writes material To make sure that he has something to talk about. I'm not joking. Sounds like my old dating life. Yeah it's just smart business. Okay, question number two. Do you have bed posts? This is an important one. Now listen, I would say that I have never written anything Down for Hangout, but I have been accused

[22:00]Of trying out bits for the podcast In normal conversations that I'm having. I've been accused by multiple people of that. So I think it is possible That I have written stuff down for a conversation. Well, the thing, the one that I remember best Is the time that you, like our first time in Vegas When you were trying out bits in the room Before we went to the casino And you asked our friend who's a physician If you hit her cervix, it means you have a huge dick. Oh, does that remember her? That was a bit I'll never forget. Where he has his act from Colorado. Okay, I think it is medical. And it's still not, now let me just be clear. It's still not clear who's Aaron's talking about. He could be talking about Russell or me. So we're gonna leave that as a little bit of a mystery. All right, here we go. You might have to do some bleeping there. Replacement, Scott. I did leave a message this spring and I listened And you said you'd be willing to do it Because Tim, the replacement's album, Tim was originally in the top 100 before you guys, When you started podcast and then you,

[23:00]Todd kind of hopped in there. Todd was very interested in that comment. I've loved this dirty of Todd. Did you hear that guy back? Hey, Savant, what do you think of this? Oh, yes, that was Savant. Well, we all remember that famous Einstein's quote Where he goes, oh Here's the thing equals MCO. Now, of course, if you don't know who Bryce is, Bryce was on our world famous replacements episode Where to emulate the replacements, He got absolutely blasted. Listen to it. It's funniest. It's got one of the best lists you'll ever hear In your entire life. And lists within lists. And so what he wants is he wants us to do the album, Tim, by the replacements, which was on the list. It's not now. So that's kind of the conversation we're gonna be having Here over the next couple of episodes. Are we gonna be covering Tim? Are we gonna be bringing Bryce on? Will Matt show up for that episode? If it's not even on the list, we'll see. Well, it's tough call. Went with the new list. They bumped it in pretty politely. You can see 1985, which I love.

[24:00]But you know, it's a more recent list. And let me tell you, that sucked. And you agree with me, Tim? This place is on the Tim. For posterity? Yeah. And your posterior? Posterior. Your mom's posterior. Okay, so now Todd and Bryce go on a bit of a riff. Okay. So are you guys ready to hear some riffing? Now we've been riffing already. Okay. Our bed full of shit is kidding. We're going to come back to that at the end of the podcast. It's going to be great. Okay. I think Savon might be a riff that we got going. Let's see what Todd and Bryce come up with. Yeah. And your posterior? Posterior. Your mom's posterior? Posterior is in the butt. So remember is, flip the phrase parallel play. Okay. Why does that come in? Why do I remember that? Flip the phrase parallel play. At any rate, we're going to do this. So he is remembering the phrase parallel play, Which I used when I started the episode that he was on, Which makes me think that he has listened to the episode That he was on. Hot take.

[25:00]I think for him to remember that, I bet he's listened over three and a half times. Wow. Oh, and you know what? He's not, it's, it would be like being Leonardo Da Vinci And never looking at the Mona Lisa. You know what I mean? It's one of the world's perfect pieces of art. That episode where Bryce showed up absolutely hammered To do the replacements episode is brilliant. Okay. It's one of our best. Go back and listen to it right now. Tim, Todd is going to accompany me. Yeah. See Todd, you're pretty good. Hell yeah. I can accompany you because I'm a mother. We're both going to drink a couple of PhD beverages And some whiskey and we'll come on. And then, but we're going to do the lead edition Over the original. Oh, he's very important. God, he will not. Plus rules. We're going to do this for fun anyways. And it's the best replacements album. That version, before that I always had, let it be as my best. Let me tell you, let it bleed the Tim version. Aaron, I'm going to let him keep going a little bit.

[26:00]What is the lead version? I can't, it's too confusing. It was a remastered version of Tim That came out recently that was remastered By someone who I think had worked with the Rolling Stones. And it does sound different. It truly does sound different. And Bryce is so stoked about it. I agree it is superior, but it's a remastered. And it's a remaster where you can truly hear the difference In the old songs. So now picture this. We've got to tell Matt, we're going to cover an album That's not on the list. Okay. We're going to have Bryce and Todd on, Which he's going to see as a perfect excuse To not come on. And we're going to have to get a certain version. Yeah. Oh yeah. And they're going to come on, just eyes crossed. We're going to have to make sure Zoom is recording everything. And then we're going to have to say to Matt, Oh, by the way, make sure you listen To the let it bleed version. Okay. So you're going to have to do some work to find it. This could be a tough sell. All right, Todd, want to say anything else? I feel that Bryce encapsulated. Now, at this point, when he asked Todd, Do you want to say anything else? You might say to yourself, hey, this voicemail

[27:00]Is a winding down. Okay. There's no way that there's 51 seconds left To this. Okay. There's no way. Oh God. The fact that he originally wanted to do Matchbox 20s Or he wanted to do Matchbox 20s yourself Or someone like you. Yeah. Let's do replay. I did. Did you say encapsulated or encapsulated? Like you put them in a capsule. Oh, the riffs are out of control With these guys. I love it. Like Niagara or something like that. Does that come in a capsule? No, but what is it? Cialis does. Don't combine Cialis and Poprock. I don't need it. Let me tell you this. That's what Lindsey Graham was talking about. Oh my God. Never needed this. Oh God. Hey, don't combine Cialis and Poprock a bit. We got to get out of the podcast. Todd is like our spirit animal. Todd, get on the podcast right now. Okay. Oh my God. Don't need it. We should probably bleep out my name. Or not. Or not. You know what?

[28:00]My school district is never going to hear this. Or my clients. Or my clients. But let's just say, all right. All my life, Bryson Todd out. My best. Bryson out. Bryson Todd out. Fantastic. Should we make a plan to do Tim, The let it bleed version? I am firmly of the belief. If we have any fan or friend That wants to do a certain album That's not on the list, we have to do it. And hey, without questions. That is a call out to anyone. Okay. Cause it seems like getting the four of us together Is almost impossible these days. If anybody wants to come on the show and join us, Just let us know. We're not going to say no. Okay. And guess what? It's fun. Being on the show is actually real fun. Okay. It's not stressful. When you think about making jokes And everybody's listening to you, Then you realize that Todd and Bryce called it. They were better than the podcast has been, Even though we've been doing this for four fucking years. All right. Let's get into a rolling. I think it's closer to six. Oh, and no, don't say shit like that. Should we run it six years? Closer to six. Are you serious? Yeah, I'm talking six years.

[29:00]It's time. Let me do the math and everybody's up. In 2020. It's time for rolling. Go one. Six years. Oh, yeah. That's true. This might be it, folks. You might not be hearing this Because this one might never come out. We'll see. All of our screens just go blank And we never talk to each other again. All right. Rolling going, Aaron. How is it going with you, my dude? It's going great, man. I just flew home today this morning. I was in Anchorage, Alaska. We took a trip to Alaska. My first time ever being there. We were there for eight days. We did a really a long trip. It was awesome. So we started in Anchorage, Flipped our on Thursday two weeks ago, Week and a half ago. And we did Anchorage for three days. And Anchorage is a cool town. Like it's on the port And the sun didn't set till 11 p.m. So that's cool. Like sitting out on the deck, Watching the sunset at 10.52 p.m.

[30:00]Now, what time is it rising, Aaron? That's the real important question. What time is it coming up? You know, the thing, It rises between five and 5.30. But the days are getting shorter Pretty fast now. Like we were there a week ago on Thursday And sun was up till 11. And then we were there last night And sun was up till 10.20. So it's like getting short really fast. But yeah, the thing is all of the hotels anyway Have outstanding blackout curtains. So like, you're fine. Like we slept till seven this morning So we could sleep till seven. It was all good. So yeah, we did. We visited a dog sled spot. So we saw like, I did a ride dogs. That was cool. Now, I'm a big white fang, man. I'm a big white fang guy. They had a dog named Lombardi. I did not see any dogs. He was at the, he had done the, I did a ride. Did not see any dogs named Dennis Green. That is a joke that I did workshop that out. Wow. But I did, I wanted to tell. I love it. I wanted to tell a story. Now there was a dog named Mike Tyson. He was like, listen, we got to get this dog

[31:00]50% of the, 50% of the balls. It's the ratio. It's the ratio. And I got to say at the time When Mike Tyson said that I was like, This guy's a fucking genius. This guy is smart. We should be getting the ball to Randy Moss more. Okay. Sorry. Okay. I gotta apologize to Russell. This is a bodily fluid story, but we took, So on Tuesday last week, we were in sewer to last week. So from Sunday to Friday, we did a guided tour And we had, it was us and two other families. Oh, we also, I got to tell the story. We got on the tour van, The Sprinter van on Sunday morning at 5.45. And we get on and we're, there's this family And it's two Indian dudes and two Indian kids. And we get on. And then we have the thing of like introducing everybody And nobody says exactly who's who. And then Anna was the one who finally was like, Are you guys friends or brothers? Cause like they did not, it was like, It was like the bit where Rob and Matt

[32:00]Had to tell the standup committee That they were not together. And the guy was like, yeah, nobody thought that. We definitely had the bit where it was like, Hey, what's up with you guys? Listen, before I ask you this question, I just want to say I'm not racist. Okay. I want to be really clear about that. Okay. I just got to know. And it turned out they were two rich Indian dudes from Texas And their kids were friends And they were each taking their kid on a solo trip. So it turned out great. Like the kids were almost the same age as Wallace. We were with them all week. The guys were super nice. We've talked about cigars. I did have a cigar with them one night. It was like, felt like I was living a rich life. You were with the same guys all week. All week. Yeah. You're like a, like all of a sudden you're like a family. Wow. You got to make it work. And Aaron, I got to tell you, Having a rich guy's cigar, What a time to be alive. Right. You know what I mean? You just know like, I didn't, I didn't have to pick the shit out. I know this is good. They just hand me a cigar. Yeah. What flavor back? What is this? The cigar cutter was that they, They bought the cigars at a shop in Anchorage And they did, the guy was like, Oh, I don't have a cigar cutter,

[33:00]But I have a nine millimeter casing That I can sharpen for you That you can use to punch out the end of the course. Yeah. No questions asked. Okay. Yep. Thanks. Yes. So that was that. So yeah, we're with them all week, But it worked out great there. Their kids were awesome. Like the two kids were best friends. And so it was like, well, Hopefully they'll look good while listening. They were like wonderful to him. Aaron, this is getting real. Are you smoking a cigar in front of your kid? No, in fact, I mentioned it to him last night That I mentioned it out loud to Anna. Well, I was, well, I thought he wasn't paying attention And then he heard and he was mad. Like he was real mad. That you did it or you did it without him being around? That I did it. I love a wood tip dad. Do they have wood tips? You know what I mean? Like he's getting way into that. He's on this kick right now of like, I'm worried about my parents getting old and stuff. So he's like, dad, I don't want you doing that ever again. That's very cool. I had a, my daughter's friend was over And she just mentioned the word party bus. I was like, oh God damn. I was like, my kid is of the age Where she knows what a party bus is.

[34:00]Oh, don't repeat that story. I think the bigger problem is I think I, I think I might be addicted to nicotine now. So I like all like the zins are huge. The zins are huge in Alaska. Like the art tour guy that had zins. And so like one day I was like, Oh, those look pretty good. And so then he would just like hand me his in whatever. And like one night I called a taxi to get to the bar And like the guy at the front desk Was helping me find a taxi service. And then he was like, Hey, you want one of these? Like just hands me a nicotine couch. Like they're everything. Is this heaven? Did you say is this heaven? I'm away from my family. And I'm a hit. All sorts of flavors. Now, Aaron, how bad would it be If there was zins around when we were growing up? How much would we just be doing this? Cause he only, I can tell you right now, The only reason I didn't chew tobacco Is that it made me throw up every time I tried it. Okay. And it was gross. And it was gross. Sticky and gross. And I, and everybody hated it. But if I could get that same feeling Of wanting to throw up without actually doing it, I'd pay money for that.

[35:00]I'd pay great money for that. Yeah. And you'd be doing like everything I had Was like two or three milligrams. You'd be up to like 15, 2025. Like it happened so quick hanging out with my family. I mean, how are we doing on time? Do you guys, can I tell a little more stories? Go for it. I'm gonna blow my wand on stories. All right. So on Tuesday of the week, We were in Seward, Alaska And we were taking a six hour boat tour on like a, I don't know how big this, How to describe how big the boat is. It's pretty big. It was a 225 passenger boat. So like about the size of like a ferry Could you throw a football over this boat long ways? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, for sure. Okay. I can picture it. Well yeah. Is the boat so big that it would have no chance Of tipping over? No. Oh, wow. No chance of tipping over. I mean, I would say a very unlikely That it would tip over. Like I didn't feel worried. Is the boat big enough to fit 230 people If they needed to? Yeah, 230. Okay.

[36:00]Yeah, I think there were 225 on the boat. And our tour guides were very good. They told us Even if you've never been seasick before, This is different. It's the Gulf of Alaska. You should take a boning the night before And then take one the morning up. So I've never been seasick, But I followed their advice, Took something the night before, Took it to the morning of all three of us, Meanna Wallace did it. And it was, and so it was the six hour cruise Through some fjords and into a bay to see wildlife. And that was amazing. We saw orcas, we saw sea lions, Humpback whales breaching, Drove right up to a glacier. Like just like parked in front of a glacier And hung out for a minute. They like fish glacialized out of the water And making margaritas. It was incredible. But it was. Man, I love this nature shit. God, I wish I could turn into a margarita though. You know what I mean? Right? I don't know. There's just flying on zins And having glacial like glacial margaritas. It was a great vacation. But it was the roughest seas I've ever been in. I just love being out here in nature With this sour mix in this rock salt.

[37:00]It's exactly what it was, dude. Yeah. And they brush your brownie and everything. And it got rough. Like there was a long crossing between two bays Where it was like, it was really rough. And people on the boat started to get sick. And it really became, It really became the scene from Stand By Me. Like I looked like in the little bay next to us, Like three kids were barfing into barf bags. One of the kids on the trip with us Like got sick too late and missed the bag and hit the seat. And Wallace was like miraculously fine. And he's not the type of person to be chill about this. So he was like, Fucking like standing in the middle of the aisle, Like riding the waves, Like Muad-Dib on the fucking Shai Hulu, Just like yucking it up, like, oh, check me out. And then like, he was fine. And we went out, there were orcas outside the boat. So we were on the front of the boat, Watching, trying to watch these orcas. And he had to pee super bad. And I had to like tell him like, No, we have to go to the bathroom. He's like, I don't want to miss this.

[38:00]He's like wetting his pants. And then we went, Ran to the back of the boat to the bathroom And like, it's the back of the boat. There's a kid puking over the side of the boat. He goes to the bathroom, Wallace goes to the bathroom, comes out. There's another lady puking over the other side of the boat. Like at one point, Like there was nowhere you could look Where there was not someone vomiting on this boat. And it truly felt like, And then it was still early, it goes a six hour ride. Like we were fine, But you never know how long you're gonna be fine. You're like, well, maybe it's my turn next. So I don't laugh. You laugh at someone else, you're on death, right? Yeah. So you just like play it as cool as you can. I'm not gonna eat those Doritos, But I will have some of that spaghetti. You know what I mean? Something that's gonna not bother me so much When it's coming back up. Meanwhile, all the orcas are following this boat. You're like, this is very strange. Orcas don't normally follow boats like this. They're just eating chunks of... And you think you guys would have been fine If you didn't take the prep, the meds and everything? Or do you think you would have been down for the count If you guys had not prepared properly? I think at least one of us would have been down.

[39:00]I've never been seasick, But these were like big choppy waves. Like this is a big boat and it was like rising up And going down. And so I don't know. For sure, if we hadn't been prepared, One of us would have been down, if not all three. Honestly, it would have been a perfect time To do some more zins. You know what I mean? Like you're like, oh, I'm lightheaded. I don't feel good. I don't know what's going on. I must be seasick. I feel like... Yeah. Oh, what's going on? Paul, you get this crazy. I took my medicine. So, but yeah, I gotta give a shout out. We booked through a company called Austin Adventures And they were awesome. Our guys were awesome. We did such cool stuff all week. And it was great, but I had to tell the story Of the stand by me boat ride. But everything else is good. And I just gotta get off the zins now that I'm out. Now let me ask you this, Aaron. Would Russell enjoy this trip? Is this trip, I class enough That Russell would enjoy it? Are the beds nice enough? You know what I mean? Like we've seen... Oh, that's funny. We've seen your beds camping. You know what I mean? Is that kind of the, what are we doing here?

[40:00]Well we were in small towns. So the, we were in the nicest hotels In these small towns. That's funny. This one guy who was with us was a, okay. He works in, all he would say is I run a family business And I do deals in oil and gas in Dallas. And he was like on the phone every morning. And his whole list of all the places he'd been In Morocco and wherever. I mean, he was happy. So I think Russell could vibe with the trip. I don't know, Russell, Would you go on a trip with people you don't know though? What type of intangible drilling costs Are they providing in year one? Wow. Yeah, that's what I should have had him call you. Meanwhile, I'd be asking, have you seen Landman? You know what I mean? So who's the savant now? Let's decide by the end. Who's the savant? Like hanging out with Todd. Yeah, I think that sounds like an amazing trip. I wouldn't need anything more luxurious. Although I've done deep sea fishing once in Florida. Yeah. A few of our coworkers kind of had a, went out for an event And we rented a deep sea fishing boat and they showed up

[41:00]And they went out and there was other boats coming in. They said, oh, you guys are going out. They're like, yep. And they're like, it's pretty rough out there. And I don't, I don't know if I took anything or not, But we got out there and I've never had an issue Like that before, but oh man, we got out there. We weren't even out there two minutes And one of my coworkers was Ralfin over the side of the boat And he was out for the whole four hours. He was laying down on the side of like the boat Would occasionally put his head over the edge And then just laid back down. Listen. And about halfway through, I started struggling, But it was not fun. They're like, if you asked me, Do you ever want to go deep sea fishing again? I'd say, oh no. No. No. I will say I've been out marlin fishing before And you're out there a long time And you catch like two fish and you're like, oh, okay. It's mostly like, do you like being on this boat in the ocean? It's really kind of a cruise with, But Russell, when somebody comes back, It looks like they're on the deadliest catch They got the orange things in there.

[42:00]Like, listen, it's rough out there. You should just say, okay, we're turning around. Like the obvi, we're- I'm going to go eat some fish on the shore. Just like You might as well have me see me by Dr. Dre Because I'm a Ed Lubber. I'm a land Lubber, huh? That joke was better in my head. And it wasn't that great there. Like that joke came down the assembly line And it was like C minus. And I was like, ah, I bet that assembly light's wrong. I'm going to try this one. Ed Lubber is a great pull. Well, how's it run going with Russell? Speaking of things that go great with jokes. Great pulling. Big life news with you guys, But Matt's not here, So we'll have to put that off down the road And talk about it at a different date. This is sick, really. You know what I've been into recently? How many months are you going to be able To not talk about this? It's crazy. I don't know. It got a little real when everyone was talking About being an old parent a little bit ago, But I'll leave it at that. So I'm not on Instagram or TikTok,

[43:00]But I've watched more YouTube short videos Now than I used to say a year ago. And I can see how people get addicted To all these apps and doing this. One of the things that's been popping up for me That I've enjoyed watching, And now we've been started watching Some of his longer, like 20 minute, YouTube things or videos is this guy, Nico Leonard. He is a watch guy. So he reviews like people's watch collections. He talks about luxury watches. He spends the only thing he does, And then like he'll, He'll review other people talking about watches And then he'll rip them and make fun of them. But like he's this watch savant. Tell me again the guy's name. Nico Leonard. Oh, I got it. I got it. And he's very funny. He's hilarious. He's got a great personality. He's kind of rough around the edges. And so I started thinking, I've been watching this so much. Like I almost thought about like going out And buying like a luxury like watch. Cause I'm so into this guy's podcast. So I wanted to know from you guys. So I had a psycho watch when I was,

[44:00]I got it when I graduated high school. My mom got it for me. So it's a couple hundred dollar watch When we bought it. It's not like a Rolex. It's nothing super expensive or fancy. But I got to know, what's your guys watch style? Have you ever had like a fancy watch or not? Russell, you're in my head. I've been talking about watches now for about six months Cause I've been thinking more. And you know what got me really thinking more About watches is there's a trend now In professional cycling. It started with Julianne Alepheliepe And now Matthew Vanderpoel and Teddy Pogaccio do it. Where these guys wear several hundred thousand dollar Mechanical watches for their bike race, Which like makes no, There's no reason to be wearing a nice, Nice watch during a bike race. And I've been like, oh man, I kind of feel like I might need a watch. Like I'm not going to, I'm like, and I do, I wear an Apple watch. Like I like the stats and everything, but then, Like this last week when I was up there, Apple watch and you'd call that, oh, that's a toy. That's a toy. That's not a watch.

[45:00]Yep. And like this week when I was up in Alaska, I'm like seeing dudes who were like out on the trail And like wearing a mechanical watch and I'm like, man, Like that guy doesn't fucking care what his heart rate Is on this watch on this hike Because he's got a super cool watch. You're hanging out with rich dudes from Texas. There's a hundred percent chance You're going to see multiple watches on that weekend. It's just the way it is. How many feet we going on the hydraulic fracturing On this next treatment here, guys? Hey, what's the lateral length? It would. It would. I think it's too intimidating, Russell. I can't do it. It's too scary because watch guys, I think are like the number one guys That are mean to watch guys. You know what I mean? Like anything, and you'd have to pick something Where you're like, I know this is an expensive watch. I just, they're too mean. It's too scary. It's kind of like a, it's almost like hype, Like sneaker guys. It's the same reason I can't get into sneakers. Too scary. Well, so I've been watching these And I've learned all these things. And then I've started the ones I really enjoy watching

[46:00]Are the YouTube videos where they're like, okay, What are the entry point watches for watch collectors? What can you get for under like a couple, Like under $1,000, under $2,000. What's a nice watch at that price point? Cause like 99% of the people aren't going out To buy this Paul Newman Rolex that costs $150,000. And all these, or if the PA is like, I know all these, Like now I know like, oh, Kevin Hart wears this, Mark Wahlberg, like you all know all the celebrities. And so I'm super into kind of following all this watch stuff, But knowing very well, I will never spend money on stuff like that. But one of the cool things I've really liked About listening to this podcast, And equal Leonard is he'll rip watches. He'll rip certain things. He likes things. He doesn't like certain things, But he talks about how watches are like moments in time. Like, so you remember, hey Maybe Aaron, when he had his son, Oh, I got this watch. Then he's going to give it to him when he turns 18.

[47:00]But like it's, and I went back and thought I was like, Oh, my mom got me a watch when I graduated high school. So the watch that, And I haven't worn it in probably five, six, seven years, But that's the watch that my mom gave me When I was in high school. And I was like, I could see how people would get into watches As like celebrations of moments in time Or having a thing where like, I have my dad's watch. I have my grandpa's watch. Oh my God, Russell, you're still speaking My language right now. I can think as much about this. And they're nothing fancy, But if you guys start watching these, If you guys start watching these Nico Leonard videos, They're so entertaining. And when you can't help but not get into it. Can I just say this? Oh, I'm so there. Here's the other thing. And I just got to say this. Cause I, I'll tell you right now, I'll never be a watch guy. And the reason is I would bang it on something. I bang, I, I've broken like two Apple watches. Listen, Russell, I got bed posts all over the place. You wouldn't believe what I'm banging on these things. You know what I mean? Russell's going to tell us that a good watch is durable. That's what he's about.

[48:00]But there are three types of bed posts. I looked it up. There's a pencil post, Rob. Wait a minute. Okay. First of all, okay. First of all, I'm just going to say, okay. Aaron's the pencil post. Okay. I don't know about that. It's slender straight post that taper near the top Off an octagonal or round. Yeah. Okay. I might be a pencil post. I'm not sure. Actually, Rob, I think you might be the cannon ball post. It features a rounded ball or a finial top With a heavier turned base. That does what? That does sound like the return base does sound like For sure. The last type of, The last type of bed post is a canopy post extra long. Vertical posts designed to hold an upper framework For friends or family. Okay. We know who that is. That's Aaron. He's the, he's the extra long bed post. I need to know the, what is the, What is the lowest number of Nico's Letting go out? Some of the spend on an interval? Oh yeah. He's got a video. There's a few cool videos where it's like, Hey, one will be like,

[49:00]Give me 10 watches that are under a thousand dollars That make you look rich. And it, but like a fun way where it's not just like, Hey, give me one of the best 10 cheap watches. It's like, what are the 10 that would make you like, It's fun ways to approach the hobby to approach the watches. But they do talk about like Rolex, for example, Rolex plays this game where they have all these watches, But they don't let the supply out. So like, if you go to a store that is a Rolex dealer And you've never been in that store there and you say, Oh, I want to buy this $60,000 Rolex or whatever it is. They're going to say, we don't have any. And they're going to send you away. And what they're going to do is they're going to make you Come into that jewelry store, that store And spend another hundred grand on other stuff and say, Oh, we'll put you on a list to get the Rolex. So like there's this whole world of like shady supply And demand dealing with like these watch companies. And it's just so interesting to learn about. Now, to think that when I did the same thing with my wife

[50:00]And she would ask me for cash and I would make her beg, You guys said that was sick and wrong And not being a good husband. Yet it's something that Rolex is doing all the time. I'm going to explain that to her next time that happens. Russell, at any point, does he ever just say Some of these watches are ugly? Because there are some guys that will wear giant. The thing to me is that some of them are so giant, They're hideous. And then they'll say, well, this is a, Those are probably, That's probably like a 45 millimeter one, Rob. Like you start to learn like how many millimeters Should be on like, so a bigger guy like me, He would probably say you shouldn't wear a 36. You should wear a 40 Because it's going to look better on a bigger guy. Like you don't want like a 36. It will look too small on you. So like you learn all this stuff, Bezled all these words. I can't even tell you, but it's, it's so cool. Wow. Like, this is so timely that you brought this up right now. I've been thinking about it. And Anna will say like, well, You should do one for your 15th birthday. And like that's a little further away

[51:00]Than I'm prepared to do. Oh my God. I want to go now. You know what I mean? Like, come on now. But I could see like Like you have girls. So maybe I don't know if your girls would be into watch. So you don't maybe have a momentum, But like if you had a son someday, Would you ever want to pass down and watch your son? No, my kids break fucking everything Russell. My kids, they cannot enter a room And not break shit all the time. They're constantly like, dad, just today, Dad, I needed a new computer charger. I closed mine in the door. What? You broke a computer charger in the door. She goes, yeah, I thought it melted, But I think I crushed it. I, they just, you'll almost said something there. You just got to be careful. I'm just going to say that with kids, They will break your shit big time. Watched my kids. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. Rob, I want to go with you. I don't know if I want to talk about this With you guys or with Matt. I listen, talk to my nutritionist, right?

[52:00]First of all, I had to wait for him to come back. You went to his wedding. Yep. I went to the wedding. He, he is literally just laughing at me. I know every time I send in a check into him, He's like this dumb fuck. How can he be on that bound And not be losing some weight? Just a dummy. He told me that day, we calculated what I ate one day. And I ate 10 grams of fiber. He said, just to let you know, Males should be getting 38 grams of fiber. Oh no. Russell, I am off on my fiber game by a factor of four. Okay. Now the question is, Do I want to talk to you guys Or should I wait for Matt is here? Cause I feel like Matt has some thoughts on fiber. But then I remember that you guys Are doing colonoscopies basically for fun. What is the fiber situation? Are we caring about fiber? Are we thinking about fiber? Are we doing anything with fiber? Aaron, what do you think? Yeah I'm thinking about fiber, But the, the fiber cheat code I will share with you, Rob. And I don't know how this works for you in New York.

[53:00]Okay. Now Russell pause real quick. Are either one of us going to like this cheat code Or either one of us ever going to even think About doing Aaron's fiber cheat code. How many cheat codes I only know two up, up, down, left, right, left, Right, B, A, B, start and zero, seven, Seven, three, seven, five, nine, six, three. Oh, incredible. You knew alphabet with the tongue is a cheat code In my world. That's advancing right to the final board. You know what has, so I, I, I try to get as much fiber As I can from fruit. So I went I'm a big fruit guy. So I'm always going fruit, but avocados have a ton Of fiber. Wow. Just eat guacamole, avocados, ton of fiber. That I can do. They're one of the highest fiber foods out there. I, can I just say this? Like I just recently learned, I got to care about protein and shit. And then everybody's like, Actually what you should be worried about is fiber. Motherfucker, I, I can only worry about so much shit. You know what I mean? Like I, I don't know. Four, I'm off by fiber by four times.

[54:00]Russell, we caring about fiber. What's going on? So just eat one avocado a day. That's, that's like almost half your fiber. Aaron, I am not, I just, I cannot say the same or plainly. I will never eat an avocado a day. I don't even know what you're talking about. Do you know how many chips that would be? Do you know how many chips I would have to put That out, a whole avocado? Aaron puts that on toast. Yeah, on toast or just eat it with a spoon, some salt. That's what they do out on the West Coast. They put it on toast. Russell, did you already just said With a spoon and some salt? If, if you walked in and I'm even an avocado With some salt on it, you need to stab me Because either I'm an alien has taken over my body Or my life is no longer worth going on. And I went out of there. Avocado with salt is no, I'm not with a spoon. If I had to take a spoon and put it in the sink And be like, I better wash all this avocado off. I just ate my God. Well, you don't have to wash it off that much of it Because you already ate it from the spoon. I don't wash it. You know what, Aaron? At the cabin. Can I say this, Aaron? At the cabin, my parents and my wave is here.

[55:00]I'm not washing shit in the sink. You know what I mean? I put a spoon in there. Somebody else is dealing with that shit. I got my mom and my wife here. Yeah, right. I'm gonna do the dishes. And yeah, I guess what? There's peanut butter on a bunch of my shit. Okay, there's peanut butter On almost everything I eat up here. I ain't washing all shit, Aaron. And guess what I'm doing, Aaron? I'm putting it in water. I'm letting it sit in water for a little bit. I think that's good enough. That's, I guess that's, that works. Thank you. I gave you my fiber take. That's all I can do. All right, Russell, what are we doing for fiber? I guess I don't count my macros enough To I couldn't tell you how many grams of fiber I have a day. I couldn't even come close to it. If you were to say like, is it between one and 500? I would have known. You're eating 500 grams of fiber, Russell. That'd be so good. I think you would know if you're eating 500. You'd be hovering in your chair. I'll just put it that way.

[56:00]All right, so folks, that is it. That is my life right now. That's where I'm at is I'm worried about my fiber. Apples? Rob, here's what I'm reading. How you can get fiber with peanut butter. Oh, yes. This is what I came for. Put an apple with peanut butter. I like that, Russie. I'll do an apple with peanut butter. That sounds, and that's why I tell my nutritionists every day. I'm like, Hey, I'm going to have some apples for a snack. Guess what? I never do Russell. I'd rather have some tortilla chips. You know what I mean? Go ahead. I could see Aaron doing this one, A pear with peanut butter. A pear with peanut butter? It's, yeah, it's, yeah. Pears are about to be in season. The Warren pear has a very short season. One cup of raspberries with peanut butter. Yeah. Can I say this, guys? I can't eat berries. I can't do, I just can't You show me a bunch of blueberries. It's not that different than dirt. Blueberries are dirt now. Yeah, they are.

[57:00]It's dirt. I'm with you, Rob, to me. Oh my God. Blueberries and blackberries. One of the biggest fights we have ongoing With the upstairs roommate is I believe I was Maybe poisoned once by someone in this house. Wow. And I related to, Have I got a website for you? It really, It related to a, a salad dressing That was made out of a bunch of blueberries And blackberries. And that was the night you guys remember When I had to leave the podcast And I felt so terrible. I'll never forget. I was very blackberry induced disease. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh, here we go. She's like, I got it at the airport. I don't know why you're complaining. I got out of that machine. Rob, we might have to cut this part out. Cut that part out. That might bring up bad things When I've accused a big boy. I definitely will. Whole grain toast and peanut butter, Three to five grams, Rob. You can do whole grain toast. I'm just gonna pause for a second. My mom's been bringing up whole grain bread To the cabin.

[58:00]I'm not eating that shit. If it's got seeds, What are you eating? White bread. I want bread that is good. I want bread that is good for like weeks. I want bread that you could just leave And the only thing it does is just gets hard. You know what I mean? If it doesn't just get hard, it's no good. It's okay. A piece of wonder bread and a craft single rustle. That's science in your mouth. That's American engineering making delicious time. How about this one? I'm gonna give you one more Because like I know Rob's not doing ground flax seed With peanut butter or chia seeds of peanut butter. My nutritionist says chia seeds And I'm like motherfucker, that used to be a toy. In my knee, that was a toy. A high fiber tortilla, peanut butter and banana. 10 grams in the tortilla. Russell, I dare you. I dare you right now. First of all, if you ever say that to me again, I swear to God, I will never do this podcast again. A high fiber tortilla? That's it. Right there. You nailed it. I am not. Just eat it on toast.

[59:00]Like a peanut butter and banana toast is great. A high fiber tortilla. Why? Okay. That's some weird stuff. That means they did weird stuff with tortilla. What would you put in it? No, we can't do it. That's it. No, thank you. Okay, we're gonna talk about the album. A high fiber tortilla. Russell, think about what that tastes like Right now in your mouth. Let's talk about the album. It's like a trisket. It's a tortilla and it's got the seeds. I guarantee there's seeds and stuff on it. Oh, grain bread. And I'll tell you right now, If I ever meet the guy who started Dave's killer bread, Okay, I'm putting him back in prison. Okay, I'm getting a private prison And I'm putting him back Because of course he came out of prison. That was part of his story. Okay, I regret saying that because now. Yeah, I listened to a podcast. Okay, well just picture me. He might've been on heat rocks. Just picture me putting him back in solitary Because he has wasted more money in my house Than almost any other person. I think he sold the business down anyway. I know he sold it to the Styrofoam.

[1:00:00]What Dave is this guy? Dave's killer bread, Russell. I guarantee you've had Dave's killer bread In your apartment. There's a hundred percent chance. King of the mountain. King of the mountain food Dave's. Here we go. Isn't there like a hot Dave's chicken? Is that like the new chicken place? We'll say hot Dave's chicken, okay. Yeah. Okay. Dave's from Wendy's? Yeah, Dave Thomas. Put some respect on his last name there, Russell. How about famous Dave? Okay, here we go. The barbecue guy. Dave, that's the famous Dave. Who's falling off more? Famous Dave's or Wendy's? That's a tough one. You know what I mean? I got to say famous Dave's is above, I don't know though, Because Wendy's growing up was so good. Wendy's now is very bad, But Wendy's growing up frosty. I have other fries. No good square burgers. No good. I'm going to famous Dave's Dave Thomas And then Dave's hot chicken Because I don't know. I'm not sure that's a real thing. Listen, let's talk about the,

[1:01:00]Russell's like, there's no way this guy's Going to really think about this answer And take it seriously. Can you tell how excited everyone is To talk about this album? Aaron, we actually like this album. It's actually history. Okay. It's one of, and to me, It's one of the top 500 albums of all time. I don't know. We're talking about them. It's perfectly, It's perfectly pleasant. If it is, Except for We'll Meet Again. It is, that is the, This is the worst recording of We'll Meet Again. We'll meet again. Very good song. Don't know where. What the hell? I got to admit. Sounds similar. We're talking about the birds. Hey, we're talking about, Hey, Mr. Tambourine man. Now, is this album just a single With a bunch of songs that sound a lot Like the single on it? Maybe. Okay. Are we getting to the point in the list Where we start to see that more and more? Yeah. But listen, we've all heard of the birds, Which is more than I can say for next week's album. You know what I mean? Like, we've at least heard of them. We maybe get him confused with the turtles Or the monkeys or whatever, But we've heard of them. The band, we've got Jim McGuinn on vocals. David Crosby from Crosby, Sills and Nash on rhythm.

[1:02:00]Chris Hillman on bass. Now, Chris Hillman is a big deal Because he co-founded the Flying Burrito Brothers With Graham Parsons. Graham Parsons is actually going to show up Now two weeks in a row. And Jim Dixon is a big player in this. He's the birds manager and producer. Okay. Now this is the first birds album. Jim Dixon sat with Dylan Before Monterey Pop one day And heard him playing the guitar And was like, God damn, This guy can write some fucking good songs. I got to get my hands on this songs And have some people do it. Well, Dylan had recorded an acetate demo, Which Aaron, explain what an acetate record is. It's basically like a cheaper record they could make That falls apart easier. What's going on with an acetate record? I didn't know that actually, Rob. You've scooped me on that one. Savant. Savant style, coming at you. Yeah, Rob is of course a Savant. First by take, I'm not doing the dishes And just put it in the sig. Savant mode, number one. Second one on that one. I just forgot what I was talking about. Aaron, maybe you should make more contributions To Wikipedia so they could know from.

[1:03:00]Maybe I can do it. If you guys went on the birds, Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, Wikipedia And typed a message to me today At about 10 a.m., I would have seen it a hundred percent. So Dylan has an acetate demo Of Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man with Ramblin Jack Elliott. The problem is, Is that he didn't like it. Jack Elliott was drawing cues off key, But this guy had heard him sing this Jim Dixon And he went and got this one demo And brought it to the birds. And he said, listen, we need to do this song, right? And apparently this was just normal at the time That you could get these demos from songwriters, Which is what he was known as at the time, like Dylan, And just say, okay, I'm going to do this song. He brings it to the band and the band says, we hate it. We don't get it, this song. Because if you've ever listened to the Dylan Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, it's very different. It's very kind of, it's almost like grunge. Maybe I'll bring it up here, but it's very like, It's a very. I mean, we should definitely play them side by side. I mean, it's a very kind of like, and to be honest, It's very strange when you hear

[1:04:00]The Bob Dylan version next to this birds version, Because the birds version is very open. I think what's really strange is that the Dylan version Sounds sleepy and he explicitly says, I'm not sleepy. And he found sleepy. That's a fucking great point. You know what I mean? Bob Dylan saying he's not sleepy is mind blowing. It would be like if you saw Bob Dylan sprinting. If he was at the gym doing a hundred meter sprints, That would blow your mind what I mean? Like if he's working on his start, you'd be like, What the fuck is going on with Bob Dylan? There's no way this is a guy. You know what I mean? If Neil is working on Bob Dylan's speed, If I have him to sprint once a day or whatever, They only got to sprint once a day. It's fine. I should be a speed consultant. You only got to sprint once a day, don't worry about it. That's a joke for about four people, maybe. Okay. I think it should be more like two or three times a week, But we'll let Neil tell us when he comes out. All right, let's see here. Oh, I haven't said that text yet. So remind me, I got to do that.

[1:05:00]Okay, here's Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man version On my very slow internet. That evening's empire has returned into the sun. Now, one thing is four verses on this one. The birds used one what I mean? The other thing the birds did Is that they put electric guitars. There's four Dylan songs on this album. The birds put electric guitars behind all of them. They changed the key. It's really gutsy to listen to this And think like I could improve on it. Well, but he, like this is perfect. But here's the thing, this, It's not perfect delivery maybe, but I mean, Like, so hear this and think like I can do better Or this needs my take on it. They never heard this version. Bob Dylan actually released that a little bit earlier, But the birds had recorded those Before Bob Dylan released it. So he was actually, the birds were doing their own Separate version of Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man. Change the key, cut out a verse. And to be honest, let's face it, They wanted to sound like the Beatles, right?

[1:06:00]The birds will tell you That Dylan found out they were doing the song, Recording it and guess what he did? He came to listen and Aaron, You'll never guess what the birds say Dylan said About this song. This is the craziest story I've ever heard. Number one, Dylan said, wow, You can really dance to that. Now, is that a compliment? Who knows? You know what I mean? Who knows? To me, that's something Bob Dylan would say. That's something Bob Dylan would say to be like, You guys suck my nuts. Okay. You guys made a weird goofy song out of my stuff. Yeah. I don't like any of this, but they also claim, They said, well, this is part of the reason Why Bob Dylan went electric later that year Is that he heard us doing this song electrically. And he was like, hey, this kind of rocks. Now, there's a 0% chance That Bob Dylan heard the birds practicing this. And it was like, I'm going to base the rest, A huge change in my career off this. Plus I would have seen it in that movie. Yeah. But so they got together,

[1:07:00]The birds got together, did this album. And the producer goes, wow, You guys really suck at your instruments. We're going to get the wrecking crew To come in and fill in, especially the drummer. The drummer is well known to just be terrible. The wrecking crew comes in and plays on two of these songs. So if you can pick out the two really good sounding Songs, you've found the two of the wrecking crew. And basically when it comes out, here's the crazy thing. This album comes out to huge applause from the critics. People love it. They blended Beatle beats with Leadbelly laments, Created a halfway school of folk rock That scores at the cash box, If not with the folk purists. That's what Billboard said about it. This is the beginning of folk rock. Now you might say, what is folk rock? It's basically rock and roll That has smarter lyrics to it, right? And this is the start of it all. Now listen to this 12 string electric guitar. There, hey, Mr. Tambourine, man. This is what I do like. Of course.

[1:08:00]Yeah it's kind of a bummer To put the best song in the album first, but. It's 100% true. If you, but if you were doing an album, I feel like you've got to come out as strong As possible so you don't lose people, right? It's true. I think you just kind of hope You have a really good track one And then the best tracks should be three or four. This went up to number one on the billboards And was Bob Dylan's, it was Bob Dylan's only number one In his entire career that he wrote, okay? Manfred Mann's Quin the Eskimo got up to number one In UK, but no other song did. Russell? Oh, I was going to say Aaron's living in a world Where we hit our best hitters third and fourth. That's why his team got eliminated from the baseball. The Dodgers are hitting, they're hitting Mr. Tambourine man first. Statistically, it doesn't make sense. That's smart. It just makes sense. It's math. Math backs it up, Russell.

[1:09:00]Oh, that's so smart. All right. So now let's see if we've ever heard it. How do you like that? Coach out in East Woodbury. Maximize those at bats. Wow. Russell's the angry parent in the crowd, but he's a nerd. You know what I mean? Yeah. Your guys is, your guys' risk is so high. Yeah. The hell is risk? Can we get a few more, can we get a few more rotations On that sweeper ball? You know, higher spin rate. I'll feel a whole lot better. Now listen. Feel a whole lot better. You want to talk? Fielding independent pitching. You want to talk inspiration? Who this? Is this the wrecking crew? No, good guess though. You want to talk about who this inspired? Okay. Number one, of course you got bands like The Turtles, Mamas, and the Papas Kind of that early folk rock stuff.

[1:10:00]But think about nowadays. I'm going to give you two bands. R.E.M. With the Jangle Guitars. Oh yeah. Yeah. I think we did Mr. Tambourine man once On a jangle guitar list, actually. And this we'll never know Russell. Okay. Unless you go to becatedbetter.com And see what's playing. You know what? We should do that right now. Let's check out what is on Bec did it better. Let's get out. Let's see what's playing. This is when you know the podcast. Let's see it. For us, we'll get us there. Oh, we're playing Angelo Voodoo, Aaron. Okay. Let's see. Oh. You're not on tapes when he called his wife On the voicemail and he was like, What? She goes, I don't like you. Cause she knew she was recording it. It's gold. You turn it on anytime, day or night, 11 52 out of Saturday night, You're going to get gold like that. A Mel Gibson impression. Voodoo aired 2021 March 12th. And I'm with the Mel Gibson. You're actually spot on with REM. We talked about this on the murmur episode. And I believe Mr. Tambourine man was one

[1:11:00]Of our best jangle pop songs on the REM members. Russell, what else is on that list? I'm interested. I'm going to have to take a mirror. Don't worry. But Russell, how about this? Inspired by this album? A guy who covered all feel a whole lot better. Tom Petty. I mean, Tom Petty has the same guitar sounds. Actually, Rob, can I jump in? Yes, please. We did not do this bird song. Instead, we did turn, turn was number one on the list. Okay. Also on that list, Tom Petty, American girl. Wow. So definitely jangled there too. Wow. Russell what you kind of are right now? You're kind of a savant. Okay. Yeah, I'm a savant. Okay. Wow. Spanish Harlem, another Dylan song. Spanish Harlem incident. Now, would this be better if you didn't know there's a bunch

[1:12:00]Of Dylan songs on it? Now, here's the thing. Dylan released his album before this, Bringing it all home or whatever it is. Right before this one was released. And this album was criticized for having four Dylan Covers on it. But if Dylan wasn't famous, would these songs be better? Right? We don't think about who wrote a lot of these songs. I mean, if you heard these, you didn't know there were Dylan songs. Would you be like, oh, those are as good as, Like when Dylan does them? The birds ones, versions? Yeah. Yeah. Or let me. It's good. It's a good album. And also, I was thinking about this today. What year was this made? This is 65. So how many, that's 60 years ago. Yeah. Imagine if this, like when we were kids And they made the list of the greatest songs ever, This is, this would be like if they pulled some From the 1920s.

[1:13:00]This is a long time ago. And this 65, this is before Revolver. It's before a bunch of those Beatles albums. Yeah, they're, okay. Good point. And it's just like when I went to jail For doing all those scams over SMS. Hey, you need context, Aaron. Context. Oh, man, that's bad. Okay. Well, at least I had a green bubble. Yeah, that's a tough one. That's right. Here's the thing. Oh, I forgot Russell's a Android guy. Sorry, Russell. Don't mean to make you mad. We, you won't have to cry. Dates back to the band's earliest days When the band was named The Beef Eaters. What a great name. The Beef Eaters. It's going to be a gin thing, right? Well, the guards at the London thing Are called the Beef Eaters. Now are any of these guys English? No. Okay. Actually, I mean. They kind of act like it. No, and that's why. The other thing about it, we'll meet again. It's so bad, but I'll log out about that. Russell, this kind of reminds me of a hit movie

[1:14:00]Where somebody is not English, is trying to be English. You know what I mean? It makes a lot of funny jokes along the way. About shaking. You have another taste of Minox, right? No, that's a different English. Here without you. But if you do that English impression, You just said Austin Powers. Can't do it. Okay. Mine are better. This was written in 1964 when they were called Jetsets. Hey, have you guys heard of the British invasion? We want a little piece of that. But the problem is we're American. What do we do? There's nothing wrong with this album. This is a good album. Is it corny? Yeah, it is, but it's 60 years ago. That's what they wrote 65 years ago. That's what it is. Good point. If you went out on a date with a 26-year-old then, It's our nude. And now it's our nude today. No, Russell, I know you're right. I don't like these harmonies, man.

[1:15:00]But all of these albums that are like this, Like I just, it's not my, I don't know. It's not my kind of stuff. And anyone who's been in Crosby stills in Nash Air, It's not down with them. Do the La La Law songs. It's not your style. I don't like that. I know. I don't, I don't want, It's no fun for anybody to listen to me. Yeah. No, but it doesn't have to be your style. It's not my style. Rob said to listen to text today. Are any of us going to listen to this one Or next week's one a second time? Probably not. This is not like something stellar. It's perfectly pleasant. And if you think about what it was made, I get why it's on there, But it does sound like the same damn thing over and over. I got to say, when I played this album, My wife was like, Hey, I really like this. You know what I mean? And she was listening to tambourine, man, But you know. And it's musical. And it's musical in a way That next week's maybe doesn't achieve. So I, I, No, Aaron, I wasn't listening very well To what you said earlier. And I think you said, I want to hear something that's not fun. Okay. Well, here you go. The bells of rim me. Okay.

[1:16:00]This is a song about a mining disaster in Wales. Yeah. Wow. Now here's my question, Aaron. This guy's really had a full show first. What about when the whales go underwater? Okay. You know what I mean? Then trying to get all that sperm out of them or whatever oil For my lamps. What do we use the oil for? Aaron lamps. Lay on lamps. The sperm is steady. Don't you use that for lamps and candles? Hey, some of you guys want to get a nice, Some of you guys want to get a nice watch. Okay. I want a sperm, a steady lamp, Aaron. That would show me that you've made it. Oh, let's check out this guy's is famous. Let's check out Chris Pratt's 10 sperm, a steady lamps And see if they're any good. Check out this room. Sperma steady is a, oh my God. Sperma steady is a waxy, milky white liquid. We're selling it on the head cavities of the sperm whale. No. It's real. That's what it's called. It's real. Okay. Now, I listen, Aaron, believe it or not, This is not the first time we've talked about it. Okay. I got it.

[1:17:00]I got it. This is not the first time we've talked About sperm as steady on the spot. Yes. It's up there with overpositors. It's not. And I never knew this. I got to make sure this is an AI. Sperma steady. I don't want to get this wrong. I don't want to be fooled. What did he play third base for the twins for a little bit? Sperma steady. Gary Sperma steady. Wasn't he there in Russell? Russell, please help me out. It was either Gary Gaetti, Mike Palli, Rilo or Sperma steady. What if Gary Gaetti was on the Simpsons? You know what I mean? Like how would they draw his face To look so much like a rat? It'd be crazy. Yes, Aaron. It looked like a rat. It looked a lot like it. I read something that said that Sailors thought it was the semen of the whale And that's how the Sperma got its name. But that can't really be true, right? That must have been an AI. Let me tell you this. Earlier you said you wanted to hear something not fun. So guess what? We have talked about mining disasters before with music. So I have made a list of songs about mining disasters

[1:18:00]Ranked in the number of people killed In each mining disaster. I think being a miner, Like going down into a mine would be in my bottom five jobs. But there's no way. That's a disaster just being a miner. That's a disaster. Like if you're a miner, Like your life is a disaster. I'm not like inherently a claustrophobic person, But I can't imagine doing that job. Yeah, but you got a bit, Russell, Would you got that hat with a light on it? That'd be kind of fun. You know what I mean? Like you got that headlamp. That'd be kind of funny. I mean, nowadays, listen, Does my dad give me a headlamp every year for Christmas? Yes, of course he does. I have like three headlamps at home. I love them. I love it every time my dad gives it to me. We love our headlamps, okay? To think that miners, And Russell the worst part about being a miner Going to your first day on the job? You're like 11 years old. You know what I mean? Like you're so young, You can get in all the crevices. All right, so that was not a great way

[1:19:00]To start my list about mining disasters With a joke about child labor. But you know what, folks? Let's get into it. The first song, of course, Russell, We've covered a mining disaster list on this podcast before. Do you remember when it was? No, it was the Bee Gees. Believe it or not, The Bee Gees had a song called The New York Mining Disaster. Now, okay, the lyrics are super depressing To these songs. I'm not gonna lie. This one was a fictional one, Russell. So a number of people killed in this one. A fictional mining disaster. This is a fictional mining disaster. So zero. Why would you make a fictional mining disaster? Because I think- Hey what we should do? That will be really entertaining. What's that? Make up a mining disaster. Wow. Hey, nowadays, Russell would be a data mining disaster. You know what I mean? Yeah. I'm gonna wait for the audience to stop laughing Before I get my next bid here. Next one by Jimmy Dean.

[1:20:00]Okay, James Dean. Of course, we have Big Bad John About a guy who was in the bottom. Oh. Who? There you go. So again, the lyrics are pretty depressing, But Big John, of course, saves them. Russell. Big Bad John. Another fictional mining disaster. Number of actual people killed zero. Zero. So guess what? We're having fun. You know what I mean? Let's keep that in mind in about a minute here. Next up, we have Tommy Armstrong Singing the Trimden Grange Explosion. This was about a mining disaster That killed 74 people in England in 1882. A real one? Yes. 1882. Oh. We're not having fun anymore. Listen, at the time, this seemed like a great list. I thought this would be fun. I figured Matt was gonna be here. He'd love this stuff. And instead, it turns out that when you make a list

[1:21:00]Of all mining disasters songs, Aaron, It's really a bummer. And you know what's also a bummer today? I smoked some ribs with charcoal. So I was kind of using this stuff That these guys are getting out. You know what I mean? Russell's getting a diamond ring watch. Oh my God. There's so much mining stuff going on there. Now, next one from 1958, Nova Scotia, Ballad of Spring Hill by Peter Paul and Mary. 75 people killed. So you can see mining with disasters Were kind of a big folk. It's definitely a pull after using it. Yeah, it's. And again that somebody got pregnant To this song. That's the weird part. You know, it's just on the record. Somebody was like, Listen, I already heard Puff Magic Dragon. That's my thing. And the other songs we know by Peter Paul, Mary.

[1:22:00]So when they're done with this, Do they go back and like the studio listen to it? And they're like shaking their head like, Yeah, we nailed this one. Yes. Is that what they're saying? It's like making out to the credits. Oh yeah. And the other thing is I saw a picture of this album cover. They're all wearing hats with lights on them. That seemed disrespectful to me. This is our old Jimmy Dean. What do we do with it? Okay. So at this point we need to wrestle some comedy. So there is a song by the folksmen who of course. How long is it for us? Shh, be quiet. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. This is called Blood on the Coal. We're five, six. It's got nine songs on the list. This is, Matt would be dying. Yeah. Matt would be dying. This is the same band that Spinal Tap, But this is their folk band. It's called Blood on the Coal. It's kind of a comedy song about mighty disasters. So I'm going to think about it. Wait, so this is a parody song. Yes. Next up. Kind of a pastiche. The Dying Minor by Woody Guthrie. 111 people killed in Centralia, Illinois. Illinois. Oh, I said Illinois.

[1:23:00]God damn it. I can't edit it because the music's playing. Hey, can I just say, This is the biggest disaster of the list Is when I said Illinois. I'm not going to hear the end of it. It's the second biggest pronunciation disaster After your Pamela Anderson, When you were doing the Pamela's. That really got you, Russell. All right, so that was fun. Okay, fine. So you guys don't want to hear, I guess, About the Gretchenfield disaster that killed 261 In 1934. I don't want to hear any more Woody Guthrie stuff. This is like the Bob Dylan When he's talking to these old guys About their folk songs. Nobody cares. I don't care about Edward Orton's character And all this shit. Moving along, Bob. Russell wants to hear Shabuzy do a mining disaster song. Russell, it's not going to happen. I kind of like you. You're not going to hear a jelly roll, Mining disaster. Okay, finally. Listen, the number one mining disaster. By the way, I looked it up because I was like, I bet there's not as many mining disasters anymore. There is 50,000 people here are killed by mining disasters.

[1:24:00]It really bummed me out. You look at some of the big ones, They're real bummers. Why are we laughing? It's crazy. And the number one mining disaster is the bells of Rimini That killed 439 people again in Wales. It's this song from the album. This is the number one mining disaster song of all time. 439 people died. Oh, what will you give me, save the sun? Well, there you go. Next time you're at work And you're talking with your coworkers, Now you know what to talk about. I did it better last by Russell. At least you're not part of the mining disaster. No matter how bad things are going, it works. I mean, these days there'd be a day to mining disaster. You know what I mean? But you went back to that one? So how'd Aaron, like if you were the manager At the mining company after the disaster, Like what would your pep talk be the next day? Like, hey, everyone's allowed to have like one minute Of meditation time before we go down. Or what would you do? It'd be one minute of meditation time And it would be like, hey,

[1:25:00]It's really unlikely that's going to happen again. Once it's collapsed, it's much safer. You made it through. So you're probably the good news is I got some sun lamps. Okay. We're going to be able to feel like we're, The seasonal effective disorder That we've been complaining about. That's the worry about it. We're going to be good. All right. We've got to move on. You have to move on. There's so many songs left. All I really want to do is bite Dylan. Aaron, turn your trouble way up high When you're listening to this album. Oh, a lot of trouble. Yeah, there's a lot of trouble. That's what it is for me. It's too much trouble. Is this the highest treble album we've ever listened to? It might be. I mean, I think playing Brito Brothers is up there. I feel like it's too crusty and stuff. It's all a similar timbre. This was the B side. This is the one I really, I really don't like what they do to Dylan's song here. I think Dylan's delivery of this is so perfection. I really don't like it.

[1:26:00]This is the wrecking crew here. And this is the B side of Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man. I knew I'd want you. This is a 6 8th. Aaron I love the time signature. 6 8th. 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 I mean, do you think the Beatles hear this? They're like, what the fuck? 4 5 6. What's going on? I think seriously, this rips us straight up. But I don't know, it's 65. If this is 65, the Beatles might have heard this Because this is before Revolver. It's between the rubber solo and Revolver, right? So I don't know. Maybe the Beatles are like, no. Sorry, Aaron, I wasn't listening to you. Russell, do you think that if they play A mining disaster song live that you can go to the bathroom? Like, is that at an appropriate time to go to the bathroom? To be like, oh. Well, like it's like, so you go to the concert And it's the only mining disaster song Or are there multiple? There's the only one. They're all they do at one. God, man, I would feel bad going to get a beard Or even the mining disaster song. Like you can't come back in and be like, yeah.

[1:27:00]Yeah, like Free Bird, Encore, During a mining disaster song. Binding disaster song had a long bass solo what I mean? It's no use. Aaron, that one sounded so much like the Beatles. It was frustrating. And listen, the back half of this album, I don't think it's not as good as the first half. We'll just say that. But still, I don't know, at the time. Yeah, this is when they really lost me. Yeah, this one is a Jackie DeShannon song Who was a really supporter of the band. This sounds a lot like him, Like a runaway, all that kind of stuff. Oh, okay. Let me fast forward a little bit. Go back to the beginning again. Can I just say this real quick, Russell? Yeah. This is where their tambourine man's going crazy. He's on this song. Tambourine man, he's not even doing that much. He's earning his money now. This song, he's going fucking crazy. I'm hearing your jackass song at the beginning there.

[1:28:00]Oh, I love it. I love it. Chimes of Freedom. A lot of people think this is the best Dylan cover On the album. This one sounds better to me, so I don't know. And then finally, the birds started. Well, the vocals are way different Because that's a much more Dylan-esque vocal Than what we heard in the others. It's mixed much more modernly. It feels like modernly. Wow. That's the second biggest disaster on this album Was me saying modernly. Holy cow. Okay. And then finally, the birds decided to end every album With a funny song or like a song that didn't make sense. Kind of like actually who they're trying To be like here, Aaron? English guys. They're trying to be like cream And put like a funny song at the end.

[1:29:00]And they play, which some of us are saying Is our favorite song on the album. We'll meet again. Ha ha ha. Best word again. Now. Keep smiling through. Does it sound like Mr. Tambourine Man? Just we'll meet again. I know. What bothers you about this, Aaron? What would you say? Why is this one of the biggest disasters On this podcast so far, this song? I don't like the faux British accents. And I love this song done straight. I love the Jimmy Durrani version. I love when Johnny Cash did it. I just, I don't, to me it's a sacred song That doesn't need to be messed with in this way. That's just me being curmudgeonly And get off my lawn though. Yeah. Do you like the Johnny Cash version? I do. Yeah. Yeah. I like it sung straight with the melody that I know. And maybe that's not even the original melody. I don't know. Well, guess what, Aaron? Sometimes the last song just says, Hey, we're done. Okay, no more listening to the album.

[1:30:00]Don't flip it over. You don't really want to listen to this again. Maybe just listen to the first song again. But a good thing, we don't care about the album. We care about the list. It doesn't matter. Okay. That dammit button work. Where is the bit? Yeah. Historically. Come on now. So we're getting into the radio system. This album is all the way up. And of course I remember what the number is. It's all the way up to 287 on the list. Is that an appropriate place to be? Okay. Would you say, Aaron? I hate to say it. It's kind of like digging a mine. You know what I mean? Like the lower we're going, The more or we're getting to put into my phone. And I'm definitely going to have for more Than like a year or so. Okay. Rare earth. Our watches take a hand down to earth. Oh my God. Don't even get me started About all the rare earth stuff I'm getting For these watches that Russell is going to be buying. Okay. Russell what? You can buy me a nice watch, by the way. I want to be clear. If I wasn't clear during that time, That is something you could do. A leap attack.

[1:31:00]What kind do you want? Boy, you've already lost me. I've never heard of either one of those. I want to look like an F1 driver. That's what I want to do. Oh, so you want a diver watch? Yeah. You want a sport watch? Yes. Okay. Russell, I want something where I could go deep Where there's no air for a while and I'd be fine. Okay. A diver watch. Now, I'm not going to get any more. That's it. No more mining disaster jokes, Aaron. For me, you're on out. Okay. Because some of, guess what? It's it. Some of these mining disaster jokes, They've been, they're kind of a mind disaster. Disastrous? They're yours. They're no one else's. They're mine. Oh boy. Okay. Listen, who cares anymore? 285 or whatever it is, whatever I said. Is this rolling bone? It should be higher on the list. Okay. We love this. Is it rolling grown? It should be lower on the list or rolling well toned. It's perfect right here at 287. Russell, what do you think?

[1:32:00]I don't know. I was trying to go back and think, What's the last sixties band we've listened to? Like what would be a contemporary of this That we've listened to in the last like 50 albums? Let's go on a wiki project. Now remember, don't forget, We always go to the wiki project. Don't ever try to go to the Rolling Stone website for this. And let's go all the way down to 287. The kinks or someone like that? Is that similar? Well technically we can say Merle Haggard. Let's see. Well, I the birds, sweetheart of the rodeo. Well, I've already got a bird's one on here. I don't need another one, But I thought this was perfectly pleasant. They've got their own distinct sound. Is it one I'll come back and listen to over and over? Probably not. Holy shit. I guess I'm not going to be too hard on it Because I think it's, I think you got to have 60 stuff on the list. And I'm fine with it. I'm going to say it's rolling well toned Even though it's not my favorite.

[1:33:00]That's the same birds. What the fuck? We've already done a bird's album. I don't remember doing that. Did we skip that one to be missing? No, it's the country. I'm sure we do. It was a country one where we did it. I, it was right. Yeah. I think you did it, Russell. I think you might have to go what? Go to backdiviter.com. See if you could pick up that episode. You'll love it. What do you think, Aaron? Rolling well toned, rolling bone or rolling groan? 1960, why am I even trying the birds? I couldn't even remember is the birds. Yeah. I think I said it at the outset. For me, it's a rolling groan. I don't think we need two birds albums on the list. I think it's a, it's a very rolling stony pick For some reason. Oh, very rolling stony pick will be this hot or shit next week. Oh God. Yeah. I mean, right. I would rather listen to this probably the next weeks, Although I have some thoughts on next weeks. Yeah. For me, it doesn't belong this high

[1:34:00]Or maybe even on the list of all, If you've already got a birds album, But there's to the birds fans out there, Actually this is like, this is one, If my dad were listening, he would, He would call me and give me shit. He'd be like, you need to like respect the music. You know, he totally would. He like, and so I should watch what I say. But yeah, for me, it's rolling groan. That would be wild, wouldn't it? Get a note from beyond the grave. Like if you breathe on your mirror, You breathe on your mirror and it's like, You were wrong about the birds album. And you're like the first ones we did at the rodeo. And he's like, no, the second one. That was only a couple of after it. Rob totally forgot about it. All right. Sorry. And I'm doing the impression there. Okay. Or if you want to kick Russell off the zoom And do it one-on-one, we can do that too. Okay. A little bit of bear. Okay. Realize what Russell, I'm confused. Okay. It's okay. Hey, send me a message if you want it. We don't have to talk about Russell about it. Okay. We could just stop. Stop right now. Russell.

[1:35:00]Unfortunately, you guys are incorrect. Oh. Okay. No. No, it's true. This gets a rolling pre-electric Bob Dillon. Okay. That makes sense. Dillon. Because it's true. When you listen to Bob Dylan's version of Tambourine Man, It stinks compared to this one. This is the definite version of Tambourine Man. That's the way it is. Okay. It brought in a whole bunch of new folk pop And it said, hey, what if we just made these guitars Sound really high sounding? Would everybody like that? And the answer was, yeah, kind of. People did. Now, next week, we are going on a real run With some of these albums here. Coming up in the next 10 albums, Outkast, Weezer, Destiny's Child, Daft Punk, Neil Young. This is what we needed. We needed to run like this. Bill Withers, Abba, Shania Twain. But next week, we have one of the greatest disasters That's ever been on this show. We have modern lovers by modern lovers.

[1:36:00]I'd rather go into a mine for an hour and a half. Listen to this with you guys. We have to get it done. We have to get beyond this format. No one might be ready to come back. He doesn't have to do this thing. Did you say a mine or a mime? Mime? Because now you got me thinking about Having sex with a mime, brosetter. You know what I mean? You would never know. Are you any good? What? I'm doing mime jokes on the podcast. Doing mime jokes on the podcast is tough Because number one, none of the listeners see my face, What it looks like for a mime having sex with me. That made me laugh. Number two, neither one of my co-hosts Are looking at their screen, Which makes it tough when I'm doing my mime jokes And nobody's getting it. It is tough. I am looking at the screen right now. I'm looking at the screen right now. You don't like my mime joke of having sex with me? Well, I was trying to figure out if you're, If you're all of a sudden being the mime

[1:37:00]Or if you're you looking at the mime, I couldn't fear you. Now, am I using it? I hate to use this term, Aaron. Now, if you're the mime, I'm you? Aaron, I'll put it in terms you understand. This is a POV of the mime, okay? This is a POV film where you're looking at the mime, okay? That means I'm you, bro. Yes, that's, yes. Can I do a couple of Nico Leonard impressions for you? Yes. The first one is what Nico Leonard Would say if you guys kicked me off the podcast. He goes, you got kicked off your own podcast, Your own podcast. How does it even happen? You own the bloody thing. That's like buying a Rolex and the Rolex tells you What time it's allowed to be. Absolute disaster. I respect it. 10 out of 10, pure class. Wow. It's time to say. Can I tell you what he would say about the modern lovers? Cause we're not allowed to do Nico Leonard twice. Yeah, please. Next week, what? He would say, what is this? People call this a classic. That sounds like four lads wandered into a garage, Found some instruments and nobody had the courage

[1:38:00]To tell them they couldn't play. Road runner. I've heard smoother noises coming from a watch winder With a broken motor. And you're telling me the critics love this, mate. If this album was a watch, it would be a Hublot With a scratch crystal and no warranty. Absolutely fucking dreadful. Apparently very important though. I do not care. Two out of 10. You're going to love these guys. Videos. I can't wait. I can't wait. I listen. I cannot wait to put together Hublot compilation of Compilation of all the times. Nico hates Hublot. He says, those are the biggest poser watches. He says, they're like, he's, he rips people That were who blow and he says, Oh, I can just tell They watched it on Instagram. And then he also ripped Hublot cause he tried to do Like a thing for charity with them and they wouldn't do it. So Hublot down with Hublot two out of 10, not God tier. Wow. Hey, Aaron, I'm, I'm worried they're going to have to make A folk song about what happened to me last night.

[1:39:00]You going mining? Yeah. Well, I had a bit of a mining. Mining. Yeah. Mining disaster. Yeah. Cause I, I dented my shaft out of the bed post.
