[00:00]in 2020 four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums as decided by

[00:04]rolling stone magazine this resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music excoriated the

[00:08]order and led us to making this podcast we are far from experts we promise to do almost no research

[00:13]all opinions are our own unless you disagree please sit back and enjoy back did it better

[00:19]this is album 52 we are all the way up to 1976 this is david bowie station by station

[00:46]do you know uh the last three episodes we've had audio trouble on each one so listen i think

[00:55]another year we're going to get those figured out we're going to be totally

[00:58]set i'm not worried about that and just to give you an idea if this podcast was 24 hours in a day

[01:10]one year we got about you know 10 of the way done that's that's that's a drag

[01:20]that's a grind yeah i'll be saying these words like we're gonna be like oh happy 50th birthday

[01:25]i mean okay let's not think about it too but the more we think about it actually gets really really

[01:28]sad but i did call into our favorite radio station and i had a little dedication i requested a song so

[01:34]here we go k-rob what's up everybody this is k-rob k-r-o-b listen we got a shout out

[01:39]from rob to the back did it better podcast congratulations on one year's happy anniversary

[01:45]for one year i feel so old old old

[01:51]for one year i feel so old old old

[01:58]for one year i feel so old old old been one year to the day when we finally released this

[02:09]for one year's old old old when we started it sounded fun now we can admit we were very very

[02:18]wrong for one year

[02:21]record a podcast that's not too

[02:26]great

[02:27]it seems like this will never end i'm stuck here doing this with my former

[02:40]staying up late can never last maybe we should skip the two hours chat after the podcast

[02:50]don't

[02:50]doing this for at least 10 years if they redo the list again they'll be a lot

[02:57]and lots of

[02:59]i didn't nail that

[03:05]but you're just too lazy to look it up

[03:14]finally somebody else

[03:16]if you want to hear from guys who chat and then they get off track

[03:20]rob is your family in the camera

[03:23]i've got the perfect podcast for you

[03:25]i closed the window they couldn't hear me

[03:26]all right good

[03:27]you're welcome

[03:27]you're welcome

[03:27]you're welcome

[03:27]welcome everybody to back that better we are all the way up to number 52 on rolling stones top 500

[03:34]albums of all time and we are to station to station by david bowie nailed it we've got three guys here

[03:41]who just thanks man i like it when man just says nailed it to me all the time positive reinforcement

[03:46]from bad is a good thing you know what i did nail that you're doing an excellent job keep up the good

[03:50]work oh my gosh you sound exactly the opposite of my wife uh here we have the three guys who just

[03:55]lived through their golden years but they didn't realize it you're doing an excellent job keep up the good work

[03:57]i got russell minneapolis russell how are you doing

[04:01]rob when we saw each other a few weeks back you hugged me and i heard the sound of mandolins

[04:07]oh i've got matt minneapolis how are you doing matt

[04:10]ah just great rob thanks for having me as always

[04:13]and i've got aaron but he had to go to the hospital recently because he learned he had a thin white dukey

[04:19]what aaron had a thin white dukey so he had to go to the hospital get that checked out

[04:24]turns out he's like my dog he's been eating panties

[04:27]aaron how are you doing i'm great a friend of mine once told me that he tried to dry age his own

[04:32]beef and it did turn his poop white so i think that's a cautionary tale for anyone who's trying

[04:37]to avoid the thin white dukey but let's talk about some david bowie too early was that prepared

[04:41]material aaron was that prepared material or not no that was off the cuff that was i was just

[04:46]responding to rob talking about thin white dukey aaron's playing 3d chess he was like david bowie

[04:51]yeah thin white dukey better have my aged beef story turning his aaron you should join the

[04:56]growlings i would be okay let's do a scene right now ready okay you just found out aaron and robin

[05:05]the growling scene ad lib scene yeah okay aaron we're gonna do a little we're gonna do this is

[05:09]our little uh uh uh improv workshop okay you are a uh doc i'm a doctor and you're a patient

[05:16]ready set go doc my my poop is thin and white i think i might have aged my own beef in a hazardous

[05:26]way oh my god just found out my wife has a terminal disease

[05:33]doctor that's got nothing to do with me am i hiding it what that was your yes ad lib is the

[05:41]doctor listen i got kicked out of so many improv schools oh that was they were like you do the

[05:46]opposite of what you're supposed to do instead of playing the role you just try to one-up them

[05:50]with the funnier joke man what's up the whole the whole point of improv right is you're playing off

[05:55]the other people yes and i mean clearly i mean clearly we've been 52 episodes we clearly know

[06:02]that this is just the rob show he could care less what the three other three of us are doing right i

[06:07]mean there's no playing off us rob doesn't play off us at all he plays with himself the whole

[06:11]time a story about me uh where i was no uh yeah here's what i don't get is how have we done this

[06:18]is episode 52 but then we also did an episode zero and we also did a christmas episode don't

[06:24]don't try to figure this out have we actually done 52 episodes i don't think we have i'm thinking we

[06:28]have something's off with this yeah something's off with the count but i just know what the

[06:32]release dates say on on the media players but rob were you did you count all those those bob

[06:37]dylan episodes where we forgot to hit record for like weeks in a row or not maybe that's what the

[06:42]problem is one was a beach boys no the beach boys one is where my camera my battery my phone my tv

[06:48]oh my god damn it rob my camera battery phone my computer ran out of juice when i was sitting in the

[06:53]car and then we did miss one beatles recording that we had to redo but it turned out to be a hit

[06:58]everybody comes up and he goes oh my god i love that revolver episode what what was the one where

[07:02]you had porn on your computer and that took over like the last third of the podcast

[07:06]unfortunately that was the christmas music episode so that was supposed to be one kids

[07:12]could listen to when it turned into a total disaster it was really bad yes and let's let's

[07:17]listen let's end this awesome improv scene okay and scene hey thank goodness we said that otherwise

[07:22]we're because i was like why are all these people at the doctor's um and that's a callback to the

[07:28]scene that aaron and i did about the doctor's office where his improv was exactly what we had

[07:32]talked about two seconds earlier so thank you all right let's get to our voicemail today guys we

[07:35]actually have two voicemails kiss my ass don't shit listeners they can't even tell what we're

[07:40]doing they kiss matt's ass this person is really mad at me now let me just let me just say this

[07:48]okay you listen to this before i think we just listen let's just listen yeah just

[07:52]don't no no don't don't let's don't don't okay okay fine i'm not gonna i'm not gonna explain it

[07:58]because she's taking shots at everybody here okay oh hey guys really enjoying the show lately

[08:03]especially love your dentist talk this week so funny good start um for a while when i was

[08:08]i was starting to worry that you were pretty left-leaning or quotation woke too i just thought

[08:15]this would be a good thing to make a series and next week maybe you could touch on how lawyers

[08:20]are just climbing out for your money

[08:22]um and also i heard that a lot of doctors are just recommending the vaccine for the insurance

[08:27]payment what's going on and of course teachers make more than enough am i right i know you'll

[08:33]all agree love the show so much okay so you guys steamrolled my explanation i was gonna give before

[08:39]that okay so that person i happen to know is a dentist and they listened to the last episode

[08:45]where aaron okay let's remind ourselves that it was aaron who told a dental story

[08:48]and i just happened to say a perfectly respectful dental story

[08:52]okay let's remind ourselves that it was aaron who told a dental story and i just happened to say a perfectly respectful dental story

[08:52]okay let's remind ourselves that it was aaron who told a dental story and i just happened to say a perfectly respectful dental story

[08:52]okay let's remind ourselves that it was aaron who told a dental story and i just happened to say a perfectly respectful dental story

[08:52]about going to the dentist and then going to have checks mixed after it seems to me that when

[08:57]dentists do not do an x-ray they're always like rob we didn't do an x-ray you're you have the best teeth

[09:02]we've ever seen they look so good we call those dumb shit dentists dumb shit dentists

[09:07]is that what we're supposed to do rip the dentist no no no no no and then i said that when they do

[09:13]x-rays that's when they find cavities now this person took that to mean that i think dentists

[09:18]are saying that there's cavities just so they can charge more money and that at

[09:22]some scam i want to be very clear i do believe dentists are helping people okay i can understand

[09:27]why being a dentist would be frustrating because everyone is mad at you all the time i am never

[09:30]happy ever to go to the dentist but i understand it's important and i have to admit the idea that

[09:35]somebody would have a job where they would be able to make more money by doing their job more

[09:39]is totally foreign to me like as a teacher the idea that i could teach more and get paid more

[09:43]is that doesn't even occur to me so we could insult the listener or not or what's going on

[09:47]so the listener was insulted by me saying that and also when i mentioned them i mentioned that

[09:52]they were they went to dental school and that they weren't a dentist and they took that personally

[09:56]as well so i want to be clear that that person is a dentist they didn't just go to dental school

[10:00]it's like those lawyers from wisconsin that don't have to go to law school right they just take the

[10:04]bar this one this one just took the test on x-rays and was like i see the dot on that x-ray i'm gonna

[10:09]charge this person a lot of money i do like 500 bucks i like the idea though of a dentist that's

[10:14]like doing extra cavities to make more money like that would never even occur to me they'd be like

[10:18]you have three cavities i would never once would be like oh this is why you're not a dentist

[10:22]it's just ingrained in them rob it's so they learned that day one there's no question about

[10:27]it is there anyone you lie to more though than the dentist they're like do you see this dark

[10:31]spot on your x-ray and i'm like yes i do i'm also very smart i'm like no i don't see anything on

[10:35]the x-ray it all looks the same to me i don't know yes my pcp thinks i have five drinks a week or less

[10:40]so yes the amount of time you spend talking to the dentist and the amount of lying you do in that time

[10:46]is probably at the top of my list i would say how much time do you actually spend with a dentist

[10:51]i never have cavities and literally i think the dentist is in and out in three and a half minutes

[10:55]and oh yeah it looks good you know you go to a good one a drive-thru not one of the dumb shit

[11:02]ones that charge us money and then call and complain on a podcast when they charge people

[11:06]right okay so this went really well i'm really glad that i did this i think this is not going

[11:11]to get me in more trouble because this is not just a podcast thing i also received texts about this

[11:14]and a phone call so i really appreciate all of our listeners who listen and call in and all of

[11:19]them i'm sure are good at their jobs and

[11:21]aim to do well for all people so thank you for your message i actually find most people are not

[11:26]good at their jobs like that's the thing is that when people burn on teachers i'm always like yeah

[11:30]there's a lot of shitty teachers out there like i i've worked with them they're terrible some of

[11:34]them are terrible i heard a i heard a good thing this week i don't know somehow it came up but it

[11:38]was one of those things it was like one of the worst thing and we've talked about this one of

[11:40]the worst things you can do is say oh what do you do for a living right like it just never goes well

[11:45]but the first thing if somebody brings up their job like the best comeback to say to them is oh

[11:50]that sounds really tough

[11:51]because no matter what anybody does for a job if you kind of just quantify it as oh that sounds you

[11:57]know that sounds sounds pretty intense it sounds pretty tough they're gonna say yeah it is tough

[12:02]you know whether you're a teacher or you you know sit in an office talking on a phone all day or

[12:06]you're a dentist or whatever so i'm a doctor i'm checking out aaron's thin white dookies all the

[12:10]time like yeah that sounds tough you don't be checking anybody's thin white that's tough rob

[12:13]stop dry aging your beef please i'm begging you

[12:16]when i go to parties i just say i'm a dentist and then ask them to give me their

[12:21]venmo thing so they can send me as much money as possible as quickly as possible

[12:26]and usually people leave me alone uh all right so we actually have a second message and this

[12:33]one guys guess what instead of being mean to rob it's actually really nice to rob so let's

[12:37]listen to this is this or not a dentist from other teachers i think this from other teachers

[12:42]so imagine that they're nice to rob it is some from somebody that's looked at one of my cavities

[12:46]all right let's play here just finished the jay-z episode

[12:51]dot and i have photographic proof that rob wasn't just on the sidelines watching people

[12:56]grind in college like he claimed all right so this text was sent to the bex line along with

[13:01]a photo of me in college at the dance club and look at this photo guys can you see it right there

[13:06]i am surrounded there's me surrounded by ladies okay now the one lady i don't think meant to be

[13:14]in the picture she's kind of looking off the distance like what's going on but the other two

[13:18]are very much posing with me and let me tell you this is a guy who's been around for a long time

[13:21]he's a gaslighting neither one of these ladies has ever ground with me ground with me grow yeah

[13:26]but it's not too late grinded granted they never dry aged my beef at a dance club ever like this

[13:35]this this is a picture that makes you think oh yeah rob was getting tons of women in college

[13:39]and of course you think that you hear my voice you hear the things i say you hear the smart jokes

[13:43]who wouldn't want to get with me this hear about your gray testicles it's not just the testicles i

[13:51]mean it's the whole oh it's it's the whole speedo area except for that patchy hair down the one side

[13:55]of the leg right yeah russell's doing the edits it's not too late to get ground you could give

[14:01]out your gps coordinates seriously why does it just go down the one leg why wouldn't it go down

[14:05]both legs is that some sort of chromosome thing i assume it's genetic but look look it's i now have

[14:10]i made this picture my phone background yes i have absolutely okay so really what this picture is is

[14:15]rob is sitting there making like this really badass face there's two lovely ladies kind of

[14:20]another lady kind of standing in the background but the best part of this the ladies are smiling

[14:25]and it almost seems like they're taking a picture of like oh we're at like the circus like here's

[14:31]the guy like it doesn't look like they're like trying to have some sort of sexual moment on the

[14:36]dance floor with you it feels like oh here's our chance to take a picture with like the bearded

[14:41]the bearded lady or something like that all right let's get into everybody's favorite segment this

[14:45]is rolling going i like this segment

[14:50]it's my favorite i like to hear what's up with me where's the sound clip how can i not we need to get

[14:55]rid of half these sound bites if you can't get the rolling going one these gotta go where where is it

[15:00]oh god it's right here it's right in the middle and scene that was an improv of me not knowing

[15:05]where stuff is on the sound clip soundboard and now i am set here we go guys i'm sorry i was just

[15:10]staring at this picture of me with these two women in college rolling going

[15:20]it's time to see what everybody's up to it's time for rolling going

[15:26]i got to pick the sound clip so i am going first listen uh i thought of you guys today

[15:33]in a couple different ways number one i did walk into the bathroom today uh

[15:38]with a barbecue pork sandwich and i thought you guys because i spilled a little bit on the floor

[15:44]and i was like boy this would be a story wouldn't it like i was dead in the bathroom and leading to

[15:50]me was this trail of barbecued pork thank god my dog was also in there with me and ate some of it

[15:54]off the floor and i was like oh you're a good boy you're cleaning up after big papa rob which is

[15:59]what i make everybody my family call me the other thing i gotta say is that my kids uh have been

[16:05]very annoying to me at the cabin they constantly want me to do things uh can you drive me in the

[16:09]boat can we have a fire and today i finally relented and we did have a fire after a couple

[16:14]days of using the uncle russ excuse it's too windy can't do a fire they finally figured out all the

[16:20]things and caught me today so we did a fire made s'mores and i'm telling you guys right now i'm

[16:25]giving s'mores a giant thumbs down boo s'mores i am done with s'mores why i think s'mores are a

[16:32]terrible treat i do not and here's why let me tell you right now it's the graham cracker the

[16:38]graham cracker has got to be replaced with something better i would take shortbread i would

[16:43]take something that's sweet and like spongy anything it would be so much better than graham

[16:49]it's the bagel i don't want to tell you to shut up but i i'm about to say something very important

[16:54]i agree it's like a bagel egg sandwich where i bite into it the bagel is too hard the egg squirts

[16:59]everywhere it's the same with the s'more i need something that's not so hard on the outside this

[17:03]sounds like some dumb shit idiot dennis told you there were too many sugar sugar bugs in the

[17:08]marshmallow have you been eating did you eat s'more right before you came to this appointment

[17:11]you don't have to floss anymore right didn't they come out and say that you don't floss anymore

[17:19]i thought flossing was more important than brushing no they said that's impossible because

[17:25]i think flossing is like when i floss the stuff that comes out makes me realize i need to be

[17:30]flossing way more because there's like chunks of stuff and i'm like i haven't eaten beef in like

[17:34]three days there's just a chunk of beef in there i'm like well good thing these two ladies in this

[17:39]picture still love me what do you guys think of s'mores personally i like them i don't know if i

[17:44]love them but i like them uh i think you need something a little firmer i'm going to say

[17:49]on the outside to go with the soft middle uh marshmallow and the chocolate you know the

[17:56]quality of the chocolate i think really also put that in his bumble um you know the quality

[18:00]yeah so i i'm a fan i'm a fan personally i like s'mores but i'm intrigued about the shortbread

[18:06]idea i want to hear more about i just think it's something squishy on the outside not hard i want

[18:09]something that's yeah i do love shortbread so i i'm i'm with you rob i feel like this is a good

[18:14]idea but i like s'mores i don't mind like the graham crackers get everywhere the chocolate gets

[18:19]eat a s'more and then at the end you're like oh that was good and fun and worth it and like maybe

[18:22]am i just a crank because i didn't want to set up a fire for my kids

[18:25]play your mean old daddy there's no way you can find that

[18:30]nailed it there you go big papa rob finds the soundbite a s'more is like golf where

[18:40]you might get one perfect bite of a s'more every three years but you keep trying for it

[18:45]it's just like playing golf it's it's like yeah it's satisfying

[18:49]when it's perfect it almost never is but you you keep chasing that dragon i think this is probably

[18:54]right up aaron's alley i think s'mores are all about the preparation it's about what what what

[18:58]goes into it if you're sitting out by the fire whether it's your kids your nephews you're roasting

[19:03]the marshmallow i know aaron's kids smoke some over little candles in their living room like we

[19:07]talked about about a year ago but i think it's the tough thing about s'mores for me is it's the

[19:12]ultimate if you're with little kids it's the ultimate no no don't do that don't do that don't

[19:18]do that like you're in the middle of a fire you're in the middle of a fire you're in the middle of a fire

[19:19]you're constantly yelling at little kids like don't turn your back to the fire don't put your

[19:23]hand in the fire don't touch that hot poker after the marshmallow came off don't do that it's

[19:28]constantly like don't swing that around and try to have your brother blow it out when it's it's on

[19:33]it's on fire it's it's the ultimate of telling kids not to do stuff it's it's almost too much

[19:40]the other day and i almost told the the girls like oh be careful with the sticks but i'm trying

[19:45]to be less like of a helicopter parent and i go inside and sure enough three minutes

[19:48]later jenny comes in and she's got a thing of marshmallow in her hair because one of the girls

[19:52]turned with the stick and i was like do you know how close that is to like your head being on fire

[19:57]with a marshmallow that's like sticking in there like it's it's incredible and i've never had a

[20:01]s'more where i'm like oh this is good and worth it even when they deliver it to me even when i

[20:05]don't have to set up a fire i'm always like and i've done i will say this i have done some s'more

[20:09]variations where you take out the chocolate and you put in peanut butter cup i've seen it where

[20:15]you take out the chocolate and you put in york peppermint patties

[20:18]i've seen it where you take out the chocolate and you put in york peppermint patties

[20:18]it sounds good but guess what i still i would just i would still rather have like a bowl of

[20:23]ice cream or something i don't know s'mores i'm maybe that just shows how much i go sure but

[20:27]that's not going to be great by the fire we're going to freeze your ice cream well i i don't

[20:33]know i just have somebody bring it out to me i guess i'm hanging out with my dad i could have

[20:36]my dad make me a sandwich tonight and he would bring it to me in bed i bet erin and his wife

[20:40]dig holes in their backyard and like put a berry ice under there like they used to hundreds of

[20:45]years ago and that's where they store their ice cream that's where they found encino man yeah they

[20:48]used to have a freezer and now they just store it out in the backyard right next to that patch

[20:51]of grass that died when erin kept peeing on it well it was locked in the garage all right okay

[20:58]so you guys all love s'mores and apparently i'm an i'm a monster russ rolling going how's it going

[21:03]with you rolling going i thought we could maybe go to that little dating advice corner i could

[21:08]always use some advice from you guys i'm always trying to correct my dating game so maybe we've

[21:12]got great advice that always works to the corner this is exciting time for russell's except for the

[21:18]part where matt told me to hold the leg with that pregnant lady that seemed to work out pretty well

[21:22]russell's the only one in the ob war that said nice

[21:26]you get your one hand under and the other hand over and then you really get that yeah i did

[21:33]the switch i was like chalked up i had the chalk you know i had a little bag of chalk i was grabbing

[21:37]i was like okay a little switch grip yeah i was going underhand all right so what i was going to

[21:43]ask you guys and this may not just be dating this could be with you guys going out with your wife or

[21:48]when you're out at the bar i thought i could ask you guys when it comes to dating what is the proper

[21:52]behavior with you and your spouse your girlfriend the person you're dating and the bartender so you

[21:59]sit down at the bar let's say you're sitting at the bar you're not having dinner you're at the bar

[22:04]what do you guys like to do with engaging with the bartender do you get engaged in small chat

[22:09]with a bartender if it's someone who is the same sex as your spouse do you avoid any sort of small

[22:18]what's your style when it comes to talking to the bartender while you're on a date with i think

[22:21]russell one thing you have to understand with us is that if somebody was flirting with our spouses

[22:25]it would affect us absolutely zero percent like it just there's there's there's the idea of being

[22:31]jealous about somebody talking to my wife is so far from my head in fact it might help later on

[22:37]she'd be like i bet this guy has patches on both sides of his it's like hey this

[22:44]rob not just this date started with my wife not wanting to make out in the car with me anymore

[22:47]might end up in a threesome with his bartender i can tell you what would happen with a threesome

[22:53]i'd be holding the camera in the closet like she'd be like okay you get out of here now

[22:57]i'd be like actually i'm into this i like it i don't know we were just at a we were just at a

[23:02]bar and we chatted with the bartender just to ask him what his favorite drinks were but there's no

[23:06]man what are you saying well i again maybe get a little too cynical about these things right but

[23:13]it's it's this person's job right and they're supposed to talk to you it's supposed to like

[23:16]little thing but they're supposed to talk to you and they're supposed to like little thing but

[23:17]they're not there to hear your life story this isn't sam alone where you're you know supposed to

[23:22]be telling them talking for eight hours like they've got a job if you're hopefully you're

[23:26]at like a busy bar where they've actually got like other customers that have got to help out

[23:29]and stuff so my personal take on all this is to you know be extremely friendly big tip all that

[23:38]stuff but like how big is the tip at least you should have seen all this jump toward our

[23:44]microphones when he said big tip we were like i didn't begin

[23:47]the glands water back joke from last week begin scene but i i just i think there's this you know

[23:54]there's this false kind of pretense that everybody you know the bartender wants to know like what you

[24:00]did today right and wants to know what's going on and and i i think i i feel like it's all just so

[24:06]fake half the time you know and you get nice people as long as you're kind of keeping everything at

[24:10]very high level surface but let them do their job without uh monopolizing their time and taking away

[24:17]other customers and stuff like that i don't know that's my take russell first of all you're in my

[24:21]wheelhouse dinner at the bar is always preferable to me so whether you're eating i like it i think

[24:26]eating at the bar is absolutely sitting on the corner stool asking for another round of whiskey

[24:31]yep yep love eating dinner at the bar and yeah i think it's correct i think i think you gotta

[24:36]you have to you know you're especially if you're thinking about is your date paying

[24:41]attention to how you're treating other people in general you know treat the bartender with respect

[24:47]make this make the lightest small talk that you can pick up on the cues when they got to move on

[24:52]it's like the the line in oceans 11 where he tells linus what is it like be funny but not

[24:57]memorable kind of thing it's always walking that walking that fine line now russell can i ask i

[25:02]guess i'm absolutely fascinated what led to this question because i am picturing you going into the

[25:07]going in with your lady to the restaurant sitting down at the bar the bartender immediately leaving

[25:12]with your lady and you're sitting there by yourself so what happened well essentially it could have been

[25:17]i don't know if that was the end result i mean it potentially could have been the end result and i

[25:21]just wasn't there i got out of the bathroom window i don't know what's going on in that place

[25:24]anywhere but what made me think of it is i was on a date we were sitting at the bar and i'm chatting

[25:30]up the bartender we're both chatting up the bartender though it's just fun a fun night going

[25:33]on but then i realized like the bartender became very involved in our conversation and the whole

[25:37]time i started thinking like wait this guy's probably better looking than me and he might

[25:42]have a better personality and now this date i'm out with she's got to think wait

[25:47]now i'm going home with the guy who was not as funny not as clever and not as good looking as

[25:52]the guy i talked to the rest of the night and i started thinking maybe it's not a good idea

[25:56]to have any conversation with the bartender other than being polite oh that's a fine line to walk

[26:01]you got to be able to give the signals like you know okay now's now's the time thank you for

[26:05]everything we're gonna move back into a private conversation that's hard to do though that's that's

[26:09]a i would do a power move i would spill your drink and then make them clean it up and then

[26:13]the whole time you're looking at your date nodding or anything like

[26:16]well then you russell i mean you know those fat stacks of cash you've got you know oh geez don't

[26:22]here let me help you with that and then you just pull your wallet and it just yes overflows out on

[26:26]the whole bar and it's like oh gee i gotta pick up my thousands of dollars i would make a point

[26:30]of tipping a hundred percent in that situation that's a baller big time move for sure oh that

[26:36]is a baller bill forty dollars like hey you know you got to help these guys out you know

[26:41]that is a great move rob the huge tip the huge tip move i know matt's talked

[26:46]about the huge tip earlier tonight as his go-to move but leaving a big tip could be a good move

[26:52]for a date but the real question is so if you're on a date do you make sure to like leave that tip

[26:56]and then you go to the bathroom so that girls or that the person you're with is going to open that

[27:01]look and see what you gave the tip right oh yeah that's a great move for sure so the best move you

[27:08]guys are saying is leave the big tip matt style and then leave leave the bill there so they can

[27:13]you make sure they they open what i would do is oh yeah you

[27:16]leave the tip and then you write on the receipt come jerk me off in the bathroom and then you go

[27:20]to the bathroom and just wait and you're like hey we'll see you know what i mean like it's

[27:26]gonna be so fun when that happens it'd be great come back to the table she's like oh you're in

[27:35]the bathroom for a long time why are you so sweaty and out of breath why is your phone battery so low

[27:39]and why why is that bartender not talking to me anymore

[27:46]i love that idea russell that you go into a bar and you're sitting with a male bartender

[27:50]and you're really stressed out about the date you're like oh god that other person's here

[27:54]so good all right well that wasn't great enough advice so i'll just keep continue to go to the

[27:59]bar and probably not sit at the bar and have minimal interaction with with the bartenders

[28:03]i think sitting at the bar is the move man that's the way why do you like having dinner at the bar

[28:07]what's the point of that it's um the action there's always action going on yeah you get

[28:16]stuck back in a corner sometimes and you're at a the restaurant and you don't know what's going on

[28:20]and they kind of you feel like well why the why the hell they put me way back here right if you're

[28:23]at the bar it's always stuff going on there's always things to see people to see and you know

[28:29]you get yeah you get attentive service but typically if it's the right amount of busy not

[28:35]not overly attentive you know like the bartender's there oh your drink's gone you need another one

[28:40]what would you like to eat is it good you know you get a chance to ask the bartender well what

[28:44]do you eat if you're gonna have dinner tonight

[28:46]you know they they let you know i can tell you guys are skinny because you're sitting up on those

[28:49]tall chairs and you're having no problems whatsoever like you put me in up on a tall

[28:53]chair with a small butt and my legs are like numb and then i'm doing that funky walk to the bathroom

[28:58]it looks like i've got major problems in the bathroom i'm like oh my legs everybody's like

[29:03]oh my god that guy is dry aging his own beef at home like he's got to look out

[29:06]eight minutes and you have to say that i've got no back support on this stool we got to go to

[29:11]somewhere somewhere else it's essentially sitting on the ground for me like i need

[29:15]yeah i need a booth i want to be a booth in a chair where i'm in the booth like a little kid

[29:20]you know what i mean like my wife's in a chair i'm in the booth sitting down it's great

[29:24]i feel like you can just get the inside scoop more often like something about the bartender

[29:30]to patron relationship is just that much more informal than the server to patron in

[29:34]a relationship where they're gonna they're gonna let you know like hey you know what the fish

[29:38]came in two days ago i wouldn't order that tonight or something else i feel like you're

[29:41]gonna get better anytime i have a server at a restaurant i start with i love you so we're always

[29:45]off to a great start hello would you like your verse i love you try it can you say it after or

[29:57]before you write please come jerk me off in the bathroom i don't write please that's crazy i mean

[30:02]please it's like a command if it's if it's the kind of person that's going to respond to a please

[30:06]they're not going to get it done okay wait i want somebody who's sorry so you're saying i want

[30:15]somebody a command and then and i love you they gotta act like i've got some sort of antidote that

[30:19]they need to get out like that's that's what i want i don't want somebody who acts like they're

[30:27]handling some hamster that a kid handed them i want somebody acting like you know there's a fire

[30:33]and this is the extinguisher it's got to get done now

[30:35]let's get out of the corner

[30:42]sure let's get out of the corner

[30:45]it's almost like you think i'm going to take it too far get out of the corner

[30:51]that was russell's advice corner oh yeah all right uh matt rolling going how's it going with you

[30:58]uh good oh good i'll be quick this week uh you know having fun watching the olympics i think

[31:04]everybody should watch on netflix there's a documentary called athlete a athlete what's

[31:11]that about is it canadian it's just about the gymnastics athletes you know

[31:14]hey it's about the women's it's it's actually a very serious documentary and we'll just leave it

[31:19]at that and uh i would say everybody should watch that before passing too many judgments on other

[31:24]people it's a it's a phenomenal it's a great documentary and everybody should watch it i'm

[31:30]not lying i believe you it's a good one um i i have been going through the list i i am continuing

[31:37]the quest i've picked it up again how far are you 265 holy shit man good

[31:44]other words so in other words you're about two years ahead of us uh well but here but here's

[31:50]the thing so i've listened to 265 albums so i'm at 217 i just listened to oasis definitely maybe

[31:58]i thought what the hell is this album doing here it's pretty darn good there's something

[32:01]called elliot smith horrible no idea why that's on there is it either or from a basement window

[32:07]oh my god uh either or horrible sad horrible album from 1997

[32:13]um

[32:14]it's just i don't get it that one is a hardcore downer i'm with matt i think i've listened to it

[32:19]one time and it was like yeah i can't this isn't for me but it's 216 on the best albums of all time

[32:24]that you know but it was right ahead of uh american beauty by the grateful dead holy cow is that a

[32:30]great album i didn't you know i've never listened to that i've listened to a lot of those songs live

[32:33]and you know from a lot of their shows but like the album itself great and then have you guys ever

[32:38]seen have you guys ever seen like a grateful dead cover band before i saw a grateful dead cover band

[32:43]a few weeks back

[32:44]and i'm not a huge dead fan but the people watching at a grateful dead concert is amazing

[32:49]it may be the state fair a grateful dead cover band concert is amazing people watching i bet i bet

[32:56]like russell what was the average age can i ask you what the average age was at a grateful dead

[33:01]cover band it was actually quite a quite a big range it was older people younger people it was

[33:06]all sorts of different people that dress differently i think there was only one thing

[33:11]that they had in common they all hated their dentist

[33:14]i'm so happy about this this is gonna be so fun their dentist should have taken more x-rays right

[33:22]all i know okay never mind i'm not gonna get back into it go ahead

[33:25]i was just gonna say that you know we've brought it up a number of times but at 214 is tom petty

[33:31]wildflowers so good yes which i have listened to i i forgot how much i listened to that in my

[33:37]younger years and at 214 that got rolling boned that should absolutely be like a top

[33:43]150 let's call it 150 i would put it in the top 50 it's probably a top 10 for me all time but

[33:50]um that is extremely underrated at 214 if you uh what are like two or three of the songs in that

[33:57]album that crush uh wildflowers uh trying to think what's the other one get to the point

[34:03]roll another joint man at what point at what point do you think i'm gonna run out of youtube

[34:07]karaoke songs to do parody songs too i thought of that today with this album i was like i don't know

[34:12]if any of these are going to be karaoke songs on youtube i don't know if any of these are going to be

[34:13]songs on youtube uh maybe at like uh purple rain i don't know no that was very good all the songs

[34:20]up to now have been very very good i don't know but like i'm getting excited like dixie chicks

[34:25]flies coming up like i you know would you really think of that as being but like i again i listened

[34:29]to that album so many times so good from like 1999 to 2001 um that i it was not on the original

[34:37]list it finally got onto the list here it's the latest uh refresh and so i'm excited to listen to

[34:43]that wilco's coming up dayla soul's coming up we got some rihanna you know stuff like that so i'm

[34:48]getting reinvigorated start listening to the list again with the yeah that rihanna anti-album is great

[34:54]we're gonna have trouble trouble listening to dayla soul like it's supposed to do on youtube

[34:57]oh really yeah none of their stuff's on streaming right now maybe soon but

[35:02]oh wow i couldn't pay the sample seven years from now when we get to it i'm sure we'll be just fine

[35:07]we're gonna listen to it on our holographic watches don't worry about it aaron it's not

[35:11]gonna be a big deal we're all gonna be sitting here in vr goggles listening to music and doing

[35:15]a podcast together we might not make it that far though if aaron can't talk because all of his teeth

[35:20]rotted out because he hates dennis like he might not even make it that far if you think about it

[35:24]aaron's easily the person that we could ditch in this podcast i think like if aaron if aaron left

[35:32]not a big deal he's like guys i can't leave rosie if rosie if you leave i'm leaving hey i appreciate

[35:39]you appreciate you man yeah i mean it's not a big deal it's not a big deal it's not a big deal

[35:41]i mean listen to this it's like it's like hey aaron uh why don't you go dry age your own beef

[35:46]i've got it all right here like i've got his laughs i've got everything i want like it's

[35:51]it's it's perfect i don't need him anymore we've got a deep fake for the rest of the next 10 years

[35:56]laugh embargo me about that because i will just edit it well no i didn't want to laugh over my

[36:01]own laugh so i had to i had to hold off for a second i didn't i didn't want to it's like an

[36:05]inception yeah because that'll never rob there's no way rob could do that yeah i did get caught

[36:10]today editing the podcast

[36:11]laughing at a joke i made my family all made fun of me i was like hey it was a great joke

[36:16]about toilet cams what can i do yeah my dad gave me a high five so i don't know

[36:21]anything else man no no that's good all right so let's get into no aaron

[36:29]wow i don't like when rob goes first i don't know he never used rob never went first for

[36:37]like the first 45 episodes and now he's done it like seven weeks guys my s'more bit was too

[36:41]good i could not wait on that i saw that there and i was like oh i gotta get this out i hate

[36:44]s'mores aaron rolling going how's it going with you it's uh well um aside from feeling a bit

[36:51]concerned about my place in this podcast i think it's going well uh can you imagine just real quick

[36:56]if we didn't have aaron on this podcast like we would all just sit there and stare at each other

[37:00]like there would be nothing it would be a disaster and of course we'd love big night in my house uh

[37:05]one you know actually though i got i had some stuff prepared i wanted to talk about i had some

[37:09]notes but i do want to say uh i'm not going to do it i'm not going to do it i'm not going to do it

[37:11]listening to rob's opener rob your falsetto is really nice and it reminded me that i have not

[37:17]yet yeah it's really good and i've not yet talked about i think you all have texted me about the

[37:24]summer of soul documentary i'm not all the way through it yet you were 100 correct i am going

[37:29]berserk over this thing i love it so much what what is it about i didn't text you i don't know

[37:33]what the hell you're talking about this is a documentary that came out this summer on hulu

[37:38]about uh the harlem culture

[37:41]festival i think that was the name of it uh held in harlem in 1969 and this footage sat somewhere

[37:48]for 50 years and no one had seen it and it's this incredible festival who produced quest love

[37:54]produced and directed yeah quest love my favorite person on the planet outside of this podcast and

[37:59]my family what famous jazz flautist shows up about halfway through the mute through the movie

[38:03]herbie man right in there and what i can't figure out is if bernard purdy is playing drums for him

[38:08]but yeah herbie man shows up rocking it it's amazing

[38:11]and the thing so far uh kind of like halfway down yeah definitely like showing off the chest hair but

[38:18]like a little bit of a shirt on yeah there's there's a lot of video of me in the front row

[38:21]going boo take your shirt off herbie man we want to see the full thing and rob's just wearing a

[38:26]sweater vest with nothing nothing else underneath it's 90 degrees in harlem and there's rob and his

[38:32]my girlfriend's walking away with a bartender oh no now it's getting a little bit real but the

[38:41]always love david ruffin i've talked for many times on this podcast how much i love the

[38:45]temptations i have not seen him sing live before i don't know he does this wild super high falsetto

[38:52]almost whistle tone thing i've never heard anything like it it absolutely blew my mind i

[38:59]i was so stoked about that yeah and so you know rob i think you're close man i think if if we

[39:05]were going to form the temptations you could potentially be the david ruffin i gotta give

[39:08]you props if you're willing to run everything through garage band and turn that pitch

[39:11]autocorrect all the way up then i am great i am a great singer that's my absolutely uh high

[39:15]high note uh high positive thing on my rolling going i want to say that i got i like that

[39:21]all right let's get into the let's end on the high note let's just roll no go with it aaron i

[39:25]want to hear it well the thing i'm the thing i gotta say that i'm frustrated about is it was

[39:29]tonight was burger night in my house and i i take this very seriously i don't get nervous about

[39:36]making meals except for burgers because i need them to be perfect for myself i got it like i

[39:40]really gotta nail the burger

[39:41]i need a good burger like the ingredients or the cooking of it the cooking the the construction

[39:46]getting it getting it perfectly right you're fucked in the head who even eats who eats burgers

[39:51]at your house me and my son and then my wife eats a veggie burger okay so veggie burgers you can just

[39:57]do whatever like you don't need to even veggie burgers are easy yeah you're good so yeah and

[40:01]here's why veggie burgers don't suffer from shrinkage i have not conquered the shrinkage

[40:06]problem i i ended up once again tonight again what the fuck i thought we weren't doing this

[40:11]a burger that was too small for the bun and it's not just because of my burger technique which needs

[40:16]a lot of work it's also because where i live sucks the burger buns are too bougie they're not

[40:22]i cannot find a decent cheap burger bun in my entire neighborhood every burger bun is brioche

[40:28]or pretzel or some get that brioche burger bun out of here don't need it yes i just want the

[40:33]martin's potato rolls i can't find them in my neighborhood and i'm upset about it and this is

[40:41]a double burger tonight i wasn't happy with it i try not to eat a burger more than once a week or

[40:46]once every two weeks but now i need another burger asap because i wasn't particularly pleased with

[40:51]this one so i'm gonna have to like double my burger consumption over the next week because

[40:55]i messed this one up let's talk about hold on let's talk about it so you're you're you're not

[40:59]you you're not getting them flat enough so they're doing the thing where they're kind of

[41:03]forming into a ball and so then you're not yeah so i what i tried this time was instead of a thick

[41:09]burger with the indentation i was trying to go

[41:11]thinner thinner patties so i can make a double and then it and then it shrank

[41:15]you know diameter wise it didn't puff up so much but it just russell russell gave a big nod there

[41:20]yeah i'm just i'm taking my headphones out i'll come back in like 20 minutes i did go through the

[41:25]x-ray machine the other day at the airport and i didn't have to toss it around a little bit before

[41:29]i went through there just a bit make sure we didn't have the same problem but it was like not

[41:34]too much or i'd get in trouble you know but it was so what what ingredients are you putting into

[41:38]your burgers before you like make the patties

[41:40]nothing just yeah just burgers salt and pepper on the top that's it yeah no no lipton onion mix

[41:46]nothing i agree with you what's your what's your style matt well a little lip depend on sometimes

[41:50]the lipton sometimes you put an egg in there so everything holds together it keeps a little

[41:54]sometimes you put some barbecue sauce in there that uh gets some good flavor in there you know

[42:00]you can really just do a lot to juice it up a little bit i'm listening because i got to do

[42:05]better man i was not pleased bacon bits are you doing the biconcave burger where you're squeezing

[42:10]it like a red blood cell no i did not do that so have you done that before because then when it

[42:16]cooks it comes into like a nice burger size yeah with a thicker burger i was experimenting with a

[42:21]thinner patty tonight and that was a mistake yeah i did that my sophomore year of college

[42:25]experience did you guys remember thinner patty i think she lived over in melby

[42:30]she was in the back of that picture earlier yeah fortunately for me my junior year was

[42:40]spent with thicker patty and she was a riot yeah speaking of thicker patty aaron what percentage

[42:45]fat are you using on those burgers these are about 78 22 that's the other issue with grilling

[42:51]it says 78 22 that's like some weird california number i've never seen 78 22 those numbers don't

[42:56]exist in the midwest yeah 78 give me a fucking break 78 22 that sounds like my dating life

[43:05]hopefully that adds to 100 doesn't it yeah oh yes it does aaron

[43:09]78 22 beef here would be healthier than any salad any any person from minnesota's ever eaten the

[43:19]last 10 years yeah yeah if i open up that burger like unwrap it and there's not a bunch of juice

[43:25]inside miss me that shit i don't need it so guys if you have advice for aaron making burgers so

[43:32]aaron be one sentence what's the problem with your burgers shrinkage and not a sentence but okay so

[43:39]patty becomes smaller than the bun so and i gotta find a a good source for good cheap buns so why

[43:45]don't you just make slightly bigger patties to start with you're 100 right that's what i should

[43:50]have done and that's what i'm saying is now i'm gonna make another one in like three days and then

[43:54]i'm gonna you know be eating too many burgers so aaron why can't you just make a slightly bigger

[43:59]burger like is this like an all a right now thing or is this an everyday thing where you cannot

[44:03]you cannot fucking make a burger um it's no i can i can do it i have a burger i can do it i can do it

[44:09]i have done it and but today i decided to try something different and that was a mistake oh i

[44:16]just you know once you do something that works once you got to stick with it yeah that's i no

[44:20]new stuff ever don't need it yeah forget about it so today i made a mistake it's it's really

[44:25]sticking with me i'm not going to be able to sleep about it and i'm not going to feel good until i

[44:28]get a good burger guys tell us what you how you like to make a burger do you have any burger

[44:32]secrets um you can send us a message on the becks line it's hashtag aaron's meat too small so send

[44:39]us a message tell us what is uh what you do with your burgers to make them better that's hashtag

[44:44]aaron's meat too small hashtag aaron's hashtag i didn't hear the hashtag aaron's meat too small

[44:50]so any of those call and then you say hashtag no you type it into the text i don't know how

[44:56]hashtags work honestly i just say it because i think it's funny all right hashtag meat too small

[45:01]it's time for nobody's favorite part of the show let's talk about the album oh station in station

[45:09]well it's confusing because on the album it's written out with no spaces so it really screws

[45:15]me up when i read i'm like station it's like a hashtag exactly aaron aaron hashtag aaron's meat

[45:20]too small uh listen so here we have david bowie this is 1976 now you have to understand where

[45:25]david bowie is coming from at this point in 1975 he just released young americans where young

[45:30]americans and fame were his top singles up to that point fame in fact hit all the way up to number one

[45:35]and that was not lame

[45:39]also space oddity was re-released at this time and was number one in britain so it's super hot

[45:45]young americans if you listen to the album it's a lot of funk it's a lot of soul i'm sure we're

[45:48]going to get to it at some point at this point david bowie had moved to la because he is going

[45:52]to start being in movies which turns out to be kind of a disaster and he does what everybody who

[45:57]has moved to california has done and aaron's giving me a big nod right now he gets hooked on cocaine a

[46:03]ton of cocaine every day he is doing tons and tons of cocaine and apparently and i thought you guys

[46:09]this for his diet he was eating mostly milk and peppers okay i mean you want to talk about a thin

[46:16]white cocaine yeah listen to that i i read that on the internet i had to get up and go to the

[46:22]bathroom like milk and peppers i was like oh my god can you imagine if all you had was milk and

[46:26]peppers for like two years then you go into the dentist said oh you have cavities you'd be like

[46:30]like you go back to dentist school you're lying i have no cavities from milk and your insides would

[46:37]be a wreck

[46:38]i am terrified of cocaine we all i don't know we're the len bias generation right i if i were

[46:43]anywhere i've never even seen cocaine in real life i would run away i've i've been scared of it since

[46:47]1986 i guess i don't see the appeal of it of like oh i can do more stuff that's not what i want to

[46:52]do i don't want to do more stuff i'm doing nothing and that's perfect like i'm talking like i have

[46:56]very serious thoughts about aaron's meat being too small that's where i want to be in my life

[47:00]that's that's the lane i'm in right now of like this guy's lazy i love it like if i was doing

[47:04]something at this time i was eating peppers and milk i'd be like well this is obviously bad like

[47:08]you know this is bad if we all did if if we all did cocaine i bet we would have 55 episodes out

[47:14]in 52 weeks and not 54 episodes or whatever the confusion is right we'd be way past 52 imagine

[47:20]yeah okay guys by the way let's talk about this after the show i think this might be a really good

[47:24]idea we should try it it'd be really fun we might need it we might need it in a couple weeks here

[47:30]when we've got like 100 songs and one oh that's true episode right we are two weeks away from

[47:38]james brown and we are going to do every song it is going to be a four-hour episode we are psyched

[47:43]about it we are definitely this is definitely not something wait are we really doing a four-hour

[47:46]this is definitely not something we decided two weeks ago and that is definitely going to be a

[47:50]really bad idea when we actually pull it off as rob's mom might say butt buster hashtag meat too

[47:57]small yeah all right so he also was convinced that jimmy page was trying to kill him so that

[48:03]kind of gives you an idea of the mindset that uh that david bowie had for this and in fact for this

[48:08]album he came up with the persona the thin white duke right who was kind of this very detached

[48:13]guy who happens to do a lot of cocaine and eat a lot of milk and peppers and was like trying to

[48:19]examining humans outside and this was actually it's kind of sad because this is his last persona

[48:23]after aladdin saying after ziggy stardust um this album was done with the band actually coming up

[48:30]with the songs beforehand david kind of stayed out of that and then he would come in and do

[48:35]the lyrics and then kind of rearrange the music in the way that he'd like to do that

[48:38]which is how he did every album from here on out as well and a big part of that is that he's way

[48:43]into a band called craftwork where they're like a german band where they're using sounds as more

[48:47]like textures rather than making it sound like oh here's a guitar solo is like here's the mood

[48:52]we're trying to set with this music which is why i think you this this this album is different

[48:56]than ziggy stardust like i was kind of blown away when i first listened to it and i was like oh

[49:00]it's six songs this is going to be a rough podcast the more i listened to it the more i enjoyed it

[49:04]but it definitely is super super different and just like me i'm not going to be able to do it

[49:08]me with my s'more story david bowie has said out loud he has zero recollection of uh recording this

[49:14]album in fact he's quoted as saying that he knows he was in la when he did this album because it's

[49:19]on the album cover so very similar to this podcast with me talking about s'mores or dennis or whatever

[49:25]i'm talking about i have no idea what's going on all right so are we ready to get into station by

[49:31]station now this album is only six songs it's only 36 minutes station station on station station in

[49:38]station what is the name of the album you guys station to station yeah that's what i said right

[49:43]station to station i've been screwing up the album station by station appetite appetite of

[49:49]destruction only a couple times all right so david bowie station to station this is the beginning of

[49:54]the album and you can hear this big time synth influence and then he's gonna this this first

[49:59]song station station kind of switches between the synth to the this album is not super accessible

[50:03]it kind of i mean you were right rob the more you listen the more you kind of get it but

[50:08]it doesn't necessarily grab you for yes absolutely when you say super not super accessible does that

[50:13]mean the opening sucks can you put that into layman's terms i mean i do think the yeah i think

[50:17]this opening is like why would you do this why this is this is this is the worst thing you would

[50:22]have we've heard on on the list so far it's not even close i think you're right right you guys

[50:27]don't like this what the hell is this this sounds like aaron's microphone for the last couple

[50:31]episodes i know i feel terrible about that i think it's fixed i hope it's fixed yeah you only had 37

[50:37]minutes and you chose to spend this much of it doing this i don't understand so then it's any

[50:41]part of this which is from can we hear the part that grooves a little bit we can't do all four

[50:46]parts of this terrible song yeah this also like still here's here's what i think accessible means

[50:53]russell what would people say if you put this on at a party like this part they'd be like oh okay

[51:00]this is but that first where it sounded like as my noise my sound machine to go to sleep i didn't

[51:07]realize that not all adults would use sound machines until i went to vegas and i stayed with

[51:11]a roommate and i was like okay it's time for me to turn on my sound machine and they were like what

[51:14]i was like oh well i can't i did it well as you guys know from my garage diaries i i did it in

[51:21]the garage but sound machines broke my hearing man my son used white noise still does to go to

[51:26]sleep and it it destroyed my hearing it makes me insane now like i can't even if there's one

[51:30]running water in the house i can't hear anyone talking it's terrible what

[51:33]we're we're

[51:37]where was the sound machine like were you sleeping everywhere wherever he was sleeping the sound

[51:41]machine was on you could always hear it we i've told you before we have a tiny house i could always

[51:46]hear the sound machine and it destroyed your hearing now explain you can't hear water running

[51:52]now so you're hearing there's no way your hearing was affected by all the music you listen to in

[51:56]headphones and and doing a podcast all the time yeah definitely not yep definitely not definitely

[52:01]just the white noise no i mean i don't i can't prove the hearing part but it made me feel insane

[52:06]it is cool though having

[52:07]hearing that's not very good in a crowded room like that's just a cool thing that happens as you

[52:11]get older and then like if anybody's talking in the room you're always like what what and i just

[52:15]do that you know what i do now the full-on i had to do it at the restaurant the other day the

[52:18]waitress was talking so quietly i had to do this with my hand to my ear and i'm doing like the old

[52:24]like cartoon like iverson yeah whisper to me like and i feel like it's such an old man but i have to

[52:29]i can't hear anybody at a party i can't hear what they're saying at all it's the worst this is this

[52:34]is the worst we talk about i'm still in the dating world

[52:37]like being single going out on a date and if you're in like a loud bar and you have to say

[52:42]what i didn't hear that what i didn't hear that it's like you might as well just fucking pack up

[52:46]and go home you're getting nowhere that night when you keep saying hey the other i gotta say this

[52:51]this is another crazy one i was out with someone and i was i you know you know i tried to come up

[52:57]with fun questions and i said what song would you play on the jukebox this woman looked at me and

[53:00]goes like station did still call the jukebox she laughed at me for calling for calling the thing in

[53:06]the corner

[53:07]that plays the music the jukebox it was called the jukebox on the fucking thing it's called the

[53:11]jukebox but you said what the fuck else would you call it even if it's digital it's still a jukebox

[53:15]i am so jealous of you dating somebody so young that they don't know what a jukebox is like that

[53:20]that would rule why don't they hear you rob sorry

[53:25]yes i also are we gonna play the other part of this song that you can dance to

[53:31]bowie's only good if you can dance some old guy over the bar told me that this was a jukebox

[53:37]i'm young like you i enjoy check's hand that he wrote stuff on streaming i really like ipods

[53:43]check out my cool ipod nano that i have i've got this blackberry yeah getting old is so cool i love

[53:53]it that my hearing is going in crowded situations it's really fun but i will say this aaron it's not

[53:58]because of your kid's fucking noise machine that doesn't make any sense i don't think you

[54:01]understand what a noise machine is it doesn't it doesn't steal your hearing wrecked my hearing just

[54:06]wrecked it that was it that was the straw that broke if you too have had your hearing wrecked

[54:11]by a white noise machine call into the back line yeah hashtag what aaron's meat too small all right

[54:18]here's the funky part that aaron's been begging for you little sick freak get out you're gonna

[54:23]use a bag for this station to station i bet you like station to station aaron i bet that's your

[54:27]favorite move you sicko this this i hope this is past like the seven minute mark of this song

[54:32]this song is way too long agree you gotta call it out

[54:36]that's a 36 minute album who cares this is the sixth of the album

[54:41]i mean this is a rock yeah this is it i mean i've decided that the bowie songs i like are the ones

[54:51]you can dance to other than ziggy sarah's i love the whole thing what do you think of just dance

[54:55]you must love that one yeah i love it i think the musicality on this album is unbelievable and i

[55:02]didn't really understand that david bowie didn't write the music to be generous but the amount of

[55:06]piano that you hear and the guitars that are playing i think the musicality on this is

[55:10]way better than where it's rated right now really i don't like when matt talks early in the album

[55:16]he's i don't like when no i want to hear it actually russell we're six of the way through

[55:19]the album so this is this is about right no there's only five songs remaining this is about

[55:25]right yeah that made it to one song he's gotta there's only five left i gotta get in when i

[55:31]looked at david bowie message boards and they had their tier ratings of different david bowie albums

[55:35]this one was in everybody's s tier if you're a david bowie fan i think you love love love this

[55:40]album yeah i had never even heard of this album like most of these songs beside golden year i've

[55:45]never even heard of these how about you guys do you have any experience with this album no i mean

[55:48]other than golden years but yeah you know and so it was a pleasant surprise to hear um because i

[55:53]think of david bowie and i do just think of like a synth right or some really uh um not authentic

[56:00]music what is it when they're really uh they're putting it all together it's like pop kind of yeah

[56:05]kind of pop and really it's put together by computers and in the studio you know but i think

[56:09]the whoever the musicians playing on this album did a great job earl slick on guitar speaking of

[56:16]computers putting together that tiktok algorithm it still has my ass like it's just worst fucking

[56:22]joke ever don't bring that back big booties that's the worst joke we've ever had out every tiktok

[56:27]that i get now on the beck did a better account it's just big booties straight come it's like

[56:31]it's like women with towels and then dropping the towels and that's the whole tiktok i'm like trying

[56:34]to watch these around my family you know what i mean it's crazy if we if we just laugh maybe he

[56:39]won't bring it up again so you guys are real pieces of shit you know that i can see why you

[56:48]do personas i should do person you know what this is a persona fat white duke

[56:52]fat white duke okay nobody's ever accused me of doing cocaine all right uh this is golden years

[57:00]let me hear you say life's taking you nowhere

[57:04]i love this song this is like yeah i mean this is where he's doing some funk this this keyboard

[57:13]lick kind of reminds me of superstition by stevie wonder i think this is when like bowie's right in

[57:17]his bed i thought the exact same thing here i heard superstition in this song yes yeah did you

[57:23]guys read who he wrote this song for who he was a huge fan of no this song he wrote for elvis yeah

[57:29]he he took this to elvis and said i want you to do this song because they were both under the same

[57:33]record company and elvis declined but did write him a note saying good luck on tour and david bowie

[57:38]kept it for the rest of his life can you imagine all this doing oh baby a golden years

[57:44]oh but don't die on the toilet speaking of bagels on the toilet baby this is me i'm elvis i sound a

[57:53]lot like the big bopper i know but don't worry about it i hope i don't die on the toilet taking

[57:57]a big white dump because i've been dry aging all my own meat oh baby uh-oh the voice is really

[58:02]sliding into the big bop now baby you mentioned so elvis turned this down he's not the only person

[58:10]who's ever turned down a song opportunity in his life so that i gotta bring this one up you guys

[58:16]know that beck was actually offered to do the theme song for the show mad men did you guys

[58:21]ever list watch the show mad men for sure yeah he was offered to do the intro for that show and he

[58:26]turned it down because he thought that a tv show about 60s advertising was going to be a big hit

[58:32]advertising was the dumbest thing he's ever heard so he turned it down but check out the mad men song

[58:36]he could have done the mad men theme song

[58:38]it's a pretty badass theme song yeah that could have done right by this

[58:45]yeah that could have this is a song this sounds like a big time back song to me i've always liked

[58:49]the drums i think beck probably would have done it better oh matt you're way off point here no

[58:55]matt you don't even get this the way this goes is a shit man when it comes to turning down songs

[59:00]that would have been amazing i would have done it better if i had done it better if i had done it

[59:02]who did it better beck did it better definitely oh better oh baby i could have done the i could

[59:09]have done the intro to mad men i would have just had somebody else write it and i would do it again

[59:13]and make it more famous oh baby what song are we on golden years yeah we're still i like because i

[59:19]like this part where he's like run for the shadows this is my man i don't know what any of these

[59:27]songs are about oh i can tell you neither does genius.com

[59:32]there you go man this is the one you knew beforehand yeah yeah i don't i don't know how

[59:43]i know it but i've heard it a million times i don't know i think with with a lot of these

[59:47]you have one of my favorite parts did you guys hear the whistling when he's whistling at the

[59:51]end of the song i thought that was so cool maybe rob you can pull that up oh let's hear that

[59:55]can you guys whistle i don't even know wait a minute that was that bartender

[59:59]russell comes in with his date

[60:02]when i heard this i started thinking because not everyone can whistle some people can whistle some

[60:17]people can but i started thinking what are the greatest songs ever that feature whistling so i

[60:23]thought we could do a list about the greatest songs ever featuring whistling are there really

[60:29]adults that can't whistle yes

[60:32]are you serious yeah can you just like learn how to do it it's not genetic it's like it's like

[60:38]rolling your tongue some people can't roll your tongue yeah i know that i mean i teach that but

[60:42]what i mean people just can't whistle and they're just like okay i'm done like that's you just

[60:46]but do you guys have a good whistle game like i could see matt being the guy who can put the

[60:52]two fingers in and give the coach whistle like the really loud i can get a loud one

[60:55]but i don't think rob aaron you guys don't strike me as the fingers in the mouth loud whistle

[61:02]type guys oh no i'm not i'm not a fingers in the mouth whistle no yeah i was trying to but then i

[61:07]got to one another one yeah all right oh i put bug spray on my fingers i forgot about that

[61:12]i thought i would start out with another aaron favorite one of the greatest whistles of all time

[61:21]of any song ever this is otis redding sitting on the dock oh i was hoping for this check out the

[61:25]end of this song this is fantastic yep written on a boat in sausalito

[61:32]this one will they recorded rumors right aaron yeah that's right i do want to remind you that

[61:40]rumors one of the floors was a waterbed at that studio so we are kind of you want to talk about

[61:46]rumors i mean we are i don't want to like stress the point or anything but we are kind of in the

[61:50]waterbed corner so you probably know aaron way more about otis redding than the three of us do

[61:58]but i read that he died three

[62:02]days three days before this song was released he died it was a few days after he recorded this song

[62:07]so this became the first posthumous is that the way you pronounce the first posthumous

[62:11]number one hit single ever that's pretty crazy isn't it yeah really you know what though i think

[62:17]i could whistle that ending as well as otis let's hear it let's go let's do okay why am i clearing

[62:24]my throat i'm like clearing my throat well humbly

[62:32]that might be better yeah let's hear you russ let's hear you whistle the end of that

[62:42]get close to the mic i like that it sounds like you're whistling i want to hear matt the whistle

[62:54]where the fingers going i want to hear the coach whistle do the real kids all wake up my wife would

[62:58]come down here and just punch she'd punch you

[63:02]punch me so hard it'd come over to you too so yeah more i like the idea that you'd be like

[63:07]sweetie we were talking about whistling i woke you up you should be like i love you so much

[63:12]remember that part yesterday where rob and you were talking about jacking each other off that

[63:17]was so funny i love the podcast the next song on the list we're going to move forward a few years

[63:22]this is scorpion wind of change you guys remember this one check out the beginning of the song

[63:26]when the berlin wall came down right yes all right aaron you're going to whistle this next

[63:32]i'll get ready okay this is a badass whistle for a song isn't it it gets up real high

[63:40]it's got some echo on there i like that yeah okay aaron you whistle and i'll put some echo on your

[63:49]whistle okay all right now you're not going to hear this as well over the zoom as it will turn

[63:53]out on the mic i'm gonna tell you right now but here we go and this isn't one of your auditions

[63:56]just do it yeah oh yeah

[64:02]yes crushing it

[64:05]it's hard to get up there nailed it nice okay guys we really thought that sucked right we'll

[64:16]talk about it later next on the list you guys you guys mentioned this one we have to touch on this

[64:21]one this is guns and roses from their second album gnr lies this is patience this is axel

[64:27]really actually doing the whistling check it out

[64:32]this isn't a whistling song

[64:34]is matt doing this one or not oh yeah let's hear it matt

[64:39]are you whistling or are you just making the whistling face i'm whistling

[64:47]you'll hear it yeah i think you're just making the whistling face

[64:49]i hear it there we go yeah i read though we've talked before about what is a good karaoke song

[65:00]before before there's a magazine or something called the karaoke informer and they've said that

[65:05]patience by guns and roses is one of the five worst karaoke songs ever because everyone thinks

[65:12]they can do it well and it always ends up being a complete long song right it's very long yes

[65:17]yeah so rob you've talked before about good or bad karaoke songs matt you've talked about it

[65:22]supposedly this is one of the worst we're not going to rush through the fact that karaoke

[65:25]magazine we're going to get back to that but here's the thing is that the the beginning of

[65:30]that song you don't really know how to do it you don't know how to do it you don't know how to do it

[65:30]realize that whole song the guitar is tuned down a half step so i think a lot of people think that

[65:34]they can just sing it and that they're going to know but it's actually it's tuned down lower than

[65:37]you think and i also think everybody thinks they're just going to get right to the end where

[65:41]it's like a little patience yeah but you got to like start the beginning of that song is is really

[65:49]hard to sing actually it's like i'll say it again take me home country road i did it in front of a

[65:53]whole cruise ship here because i'm missing you yeah and then you got to get to i've been walking

[65:57]the streets tonight just trying to get to the end of the road i've been walking the streets tonight

[65:58]just trying to get to the end of the road i've been walking the streets tonight just trying to get to the

[66:00]right then the phrasing is hard

[66:03]i will just say that chris cornell does a cover of this on his

[66:10]posthumous album they put out right and it is nice but um that and then uh is that whole album

[66:16]worth owning yeah yeah just patient it's got um nothing compares to you as well written by

[66:23]your buddy prince so good made a shenanigans counter but yeah those two songs alone are worth

[66:30]the album

[66:30]if you ask me okay good to know next song on the list is i don't know if you guys will know this

[66:36]one the last two are relatively recent i i guess that means with like the last 10 years 20 years

[66:42]maybe the next one is edward sharp and the magnetic zeros this is called home this kind of

[66:47]mimics oh yeah you guys remember like yeah this is a fun song western movies like the clint eastwood

[66:51]movies this kind of references the this is great intro to those movies check this out yeah fun track

[66:57]this would be a good karaoke song

[67:00]that is a badass opening for a song yeah this would be yeah this would be a fun

[67:08]close the night karaoke song like we did uh yes

[67:11]that is a that is a fun song track what could possibly be in a karaoke magazine

[67:24]right i mean i get that there's hardware stuff i don't get it's called karaoke in former it could

[67:29]be a website technically i don't know i didn't do the research i know that you know who wrote that

[67:33]snow edward snowden snow

[67:37]what karaoke songs are best on the list i'll tell you right now it's a ringo did you say

[67:49]a lick your boom boom yeah i don't think he says i'll lick your boom boom i don't know what he said

[67:52]yeah yeah what does he say it's a leaky boom boom right leaky i think he's talking about a trip to

[67:58]the doctor's office okay aaron you be a patient i'll be the doctor tell me about the leaky boom

[68:02]i need to hear the the groundlings version of robin aaron with aaron going to the doctor over

[68:09]and go aaron go ahead begin seeing now doc i'm here because my uh i did i ate something i'm not

[68:15]sure about and it turns out my boom boom is leaking can you help i recommend you just eat

[68:19]milk and peppers i think that's really going to help did you want to try some of this cocaine

[68:24]and scene oh wait i forgot the bit about my

[68:28]last song on the list there's one more rob

[68:31]because sometimes rob i just gotta ask you can you blow my whistle baby

[68:36]this is flow rider whistle where he asked can you blow it sounds like you've asked that

[68:42]i feel like this is a matt and russ favor we've played plenty of blackjack with only

[68:58]that's true that's true or that band the band that we go on the dance floor rob's always taking

[69:04]his belt off that's uh yeah they play a lot of flow right listen if you want to get middle-aged

[69:10]badminton coaches to give you a kiss on the cheek and you see that picture in three days you go when

[69:14]the hell did i take that picture i highly recommend vegas it's a great place um that i i will say my

[69:20]workout pandora mix that i have is just pitbull and flow rider i'm convinced that they are the

[69:25]greatest artists of the 2008 to 2012 scene absolutely

[69:28]every song they make is just so fun i mean a song about him taking whistling something everybody

[69:35]loves something i'm you know you when your kids learn how to do it you're so proud and make

[69:40]connecting it with oral sex hats off to you flow rider not since apple bottom jeans have i thought

[69:46]about you so much not until somebody took their milkshake to the yard that one time yes well that

[69:53]i never knew about till like 10 years later i was like oh i thought it was about milkshakes

[69:56]because i told you

[69:58]that story where my ex-girlfriend came to me after a football game and i had so i was i was this is a

[70:04]between relationships kind of and my ex-girlfriend came to visit me after a football game and my

[70:10]new girlfriend was also there right oh it's like they say it's like they say one out of three people

[70:15]are cheating it's like i don't know if it's this girlfriend or this girlfriend but they're in big

[70:19]trouble but the ex-girlfriend knows me so well that she brought me a burrito from chipotle and

[70:26]i was like this is the hardest decision

[70:28]i've ever had to make it always convince you to make a different life yeah pretty much i was like

[70:32]that burrito from chipotle looks so good after a football game like if she would have got the

[70:37]large chips with the guac you would have been fine but she bought you the small chips yeah did did

[70:42]she eat the burrito herself did you leave it uneaten i ate the burrito rosie yeah i mean come

[70:47]on you gotta eat the burrito i ate the burrito for a couple more weeks then i realized i couldn't do

[70:50]it anymore i was too tired oh no i was too tired yeah we're doing euphemisms there yeah plus the

[70:57]new one more sour cream better

[70:58]all right that was russell's list what

[71:01]i thought you would like the oldest red in here and i figured that was red up your alley oh yeah

[71:12]that's one of my favorites all time well isn't that i i assume that's why every adult knows how

[71:16]to whistle is to whistle along with sitting on the dock of the bay i mean how can you resist it

[71:20]what else would you need to know right all right let's go uh we are all the way up to word on a

[71:26]wing

[71:28]close outside one already

[71:30]and you know when you're doing a ton of cocaine

[71:34]it's when you start being like time for me to get super religious i'm david bowie

[71:41]i'm gonna do a religious song feeling bad

[71:43]let those bongo drums i heard this song was about his like fascination with black magic i don't know

[71:51]a lot about black magic but that's like voodoo type shit isn't it i assume so sounds awesome i

[71:57]mean yeah i guess so i guess that's why he eventually appeared as uh tesla in uh the

[72:03]prestige he was always into that shit bringing the movie the movie career full sir i read it

[72:09]was about black magic in an honor of boy floating flirting with black magic tonight i'm drinking

[72:14]a red blend wine also from california which is where we recorded this erin's hellhole of a state

[72:20]but tonight i'm enjoying a cashmere black magic red blend tonight while we're drinking this you

[72:27]guys gotta check it out

[72:27]classic by klein cashmere wow nice wow and he holds it up and it's just a glass full of a black

[72:34]liquid oh my god that is really dark well the whole time i've been sticking these pins in this

[72:39]little doll this voodoo doll with rob's face on it and yeah he hasn't fallen over yet but i keep

[72:45]doing it rob i really appreciate it because it feels so good i really love the chorus of this

[72:49]song can you find me the chorus i do it's great

[72:57]dude can sing he can sing and you finally figure it out again

[73:02]all the music all the instruments that go into all of these songs it's just i don't expect it

[73:09]out of david bowie and that's what i like about this album it's a wild album already right you

[73:15]got funk synthesizer to funk the golden years whatever that is which is most like his last

[73:21]album and then this is just like a straight up gospel chorus song that he wrote almost

[73:27]and then just when you think it can't get any crazier here is a song

[73:31]based on when iggy pop came over and hallucinated that the tv ate his girlfriend

[73:36]oh that's just straight insane who's iggy pop

[73:42]it's the stooges lead singer of the stooges you might know him from the headphone commercial

[73:48]he's the guy that kind of looks like like a mom yeah he's wearing big headphones kind of kind of

[73:56]got the bluesy piano and then he's like oh my god i don't know what i'm doing i don't know what i'm

[73:57]doing real poppy tune he can write a song or wait did he not write this man you said boy didn't

[74:03]necessarily write all this well there's a lot of what i read was that a lot of the uh background

[74:08]music or at least the kind of the general concepts were created by the musicians and then david would

[74:14]come in and lay down some lyrics and then he i guess he had some sort of uh formula or way of

[74:19]doing the remixing of the songs to his however he wanted to see him but got it got it well remember

[74:25]remember later he got real into just

[74:27]cutting up words and doing kind of data as lyrics but i wanted to read you those lyrics before i

[74:31]play this part i i dare you to not read these and think they're not the dumbest lyrics in the

[74:36]history of music right these are the worst this is first of all 76 he's talking about a holographic

[74:42]tv which would fucking rock that would be awesome i would love a holographic tv give it to me right

[74:46]now second of all my wife would love it if it's a tv ate her

[74:50]oh

[74:57], he's like flip the volume up a little bit flip it down

[75:04]flip the volume way down where the cab's constantly hitting that input button input input input

[75:10]send send back my dream test baby she's my main feature

[75:17]my tv my tvc 15 yeah he just sits stares back unblinking this is just straight insanity

[75:22]it's so good right you think it's good yeah listen to the song

[75:27]i mean what do you expect about a tv you ate a woman and so i mean the song's about hallucinations

[75:36]so good when i when i first i love tvs now i don't own a tv currently i'm kind of pulling

[75:42]an errand i don't have a tv at all right now but when i first moved into an apartment when i was

[75:47]student teaching uh i got a check or no when i first got a job i got a check my first check ever

[75:52]right i went and i bought like a 61 inch hd dude i helped you move that tv

[75:57]i helped you move it it was it was like 1200 bucks it was it was like the big it was like

[76:03]the size of like like it was it was a huge piece of furniture heavy and then and then when the end

[76:09]of the month came i was like oh that's right i gotta pay rent like i spent all my money on this

[76:13]tv had nothing else because i had to get like cable with hd it was a disaster and then that

[76:18]was the tv that i hooked it up and i hooked it up i had hd cable ready to go and right when i did

[76:22]jenny's like we're gonna go for a walk outside i was like what no i was like we're not we're not

[76:27]over a walk outside i'm gonna watch espn and hd like you go outside you film a walk in hd bring

[76:32]it back and i'll watch i watched that one colts patriots afc championship game where it was snowing

[76:36]on that tv and it blew my mind i was like look how big the snowflakes are this is amazing they

[76:41]look like real snowflakes matt had mentioned on this song like he's mentioned earlier on this

[76:47]album that he loved the musicality and you guys mentioned the the music on this one the guy

[76:51]playing the piano's name roy bitten have you guys heard of him no i have not uh was he wasn't he

[76:57]bitten once bitten twice shy but he was a member of the band for a while and he was also a famous

[77:03]session musician played with bon jovi jackson brown bob dylan all sorts of people celine dion

[77:10]but you know who else he played with he played the opening on the song i would do anything for

[77:15]love by meatloaf this is the same guy who's playing with david bowie who's playing with

[77:20]meatloaf on the beginning of i would do anything for love check this out that's fun that's the same

[77:25]guy yes

[77:27]beautiful playing man yeah i thought that was super cool speaking of the worst karaoke songs

[77:35]ever you think this one you're look no you're looking at a guy who who has done paradise by

[77:42]the dashboard lights twice as karaoke songs including the talking part for the baseball

[77:47]game equal sex it's so good it's it's so long everybody at the bar is so mad for you what are

[77:51]you doing because it just repeats over and over it's so good my spouse saying that for karaoke i

[77:55]would also rather have the tv eat me than my spouse

[77:58]stop saying that it makes me uncomfortable hey david bowie stay

[78:04]now this song is probably most famous for its opening lick just how funky it is listen to this

[78:08]i love the silence there that

[78:15]yeah

[78:18]well i just feel like this would be a stevie ray vaughan type of song but i don't even know what's

[78:25]stevie ray vaughan sounds like i just feel like this is like a guitar player from that era

[78:29]sounds like harry styles and carrie styles picked off these guitar licks

[78:37]yeah you're right yeah yeah watermelon sugar kind of has this kind of vibe right

[78:42]stevie ray vaughan another playing guy all right otis reddick also we never talked about that

[78:49]don't miss it that's too sad

[78:52]this like this to me

[78:55]sounds like he's thinking about disco a little bit too right he's always wanting to dance

[79:00]yeah that bass slapping that bass that's the disco

[79:05]you compare this to ziggy stardust it's so different like it's it's only off by a couple

[79:13]years and it's just it's like a whole different artist coming in it's crazy the last song is wild

[79:18]is the wind which is the only cover on this album your song was originally done for the movie by the

[79:24]same name by a guy named johnny mathis

[79:25]that's a pretty incredible voice

[79:36]johnny mathis can sing and here's david bowie's

[79:40]all i could think about with this one was jesus christian superstar this sounds

[79:51]to me so much like jesus christian superstar and then i was like did bowie ever do

[79:55]jesus he really should have somebody missed the missed the boat there if he didn't

[80:00]this is a beautiful song though isn't it

[80:04]he wrote this after meeting nina simone and she had covered this song so he's like i'm

[80:10]gonna cover it now too like you said nina simone crazy yeah oh wow i didn't know that

[80:17]why do you think did you think i said nina sim one no i missed the nina part it glitched that

[80:24]i missed the nina part i was like is there another simone it'd have to be nina well guys i mean that's

[80:29]a wrap that it's a it's a it's a crazy album i mean it literally goes from a funk synth to uh

[80:36]change i mean it's all over the place it's just a weird wild ride the first time i listened to it i

[80:41]was like am i did i skip something am i missing something but let's get into everybody's favorite

[80:45]patented and favorite section the rating system i don't understand it but i enjoy it everybody's

[80:54]favorite part of the show listen i didn't get an angry text and voicemail about it so i think it's

[80:58]great too i love it and it's probably can't figure it out they're not smart enough they would have

[81:02]been doctors dentists are doctors dentists are doctors dentists are doctors that's that's like

[81:08]saying a lawyer is a jurist christ this has gone off the rails all right so listen the rating system

[81:16]for this is really easy this is 52 station to station okay that's how i remember station two

[81:21]stations 52 now is this rolling well toned that that means it's perfect right where it is 52 oh

[81:28]it's great it's the second best bowie album it's a it's a little bit worse than chuck harry the great

[81:33]28 but that's okay like it's it's great like this obviously is this a rolling groan oh you did not

[81:40]like listening to this album it should be later or should not be on the list at all okay a lot of

[81:44]people like this listen six songs coming from the great 28 it's a crazy trip but maybe people aren't

[81:49]into that thing they want 28 songs they want

[81:51]longer albums is this did this get rolling boned guys this is david bowie everybody thinks this is

[81:57]one of his best albums this should be way higher than 52 what are we talking about let's let's

[82:01]let's go crazy is this a rolling bone so what do you think rolling well toned rolling bone

[82:05]or rolling groan and again just remember higher on the list is a higher number in this case but

[82:11]it is later in our timeline so russell what do you think i'm a bit confused i liked some of the

[82:17]songs to me golden years was fantastic i liked a handful of the songs but i don't think it's

[82:21]but the first song really just got me off on the wrong track on this i thought it was five minutes

[82:26]of nonsense and for me if you're gonna say this is one of the greatest albums ever i i'm just not

[82:31]down with the first five minutes of the album not being interesting to me at all i don't really

[82:36]understand how this ever got bumped from 324 on the last list up to 52 so while i liked it i enjoyed

[82:42]a lot of it i think it's way too high to me this is like when i get a bullshit bill from a dentist

[82:48]this is a rolling groan

[82:51]this also explains why russell has four teeth in the small three though they're the right i don't

[82:57]need to listen to you they're the right four teeth aren't they rob i was reading my karaoke

[83:01]magazine that no it's karaoke get it right rob i was reading a karaoke informer that flossy's

[83:06]even a thing anymore next issue chemtrails what do you think about this rolling well toned rolling

[83:13]bone or rolling groan i am confused like russell but my confusion is is about how to rank this

[83:19]against young americans i went back and listened to him and he was like i don't know i don't know

[83:21]young americans a lot this week i i couldn't chew i i can't see why this would be ranked

[83:26]higher than young americans i don't even know where young americans is on the list but i think

[83:30]that's a great bowie album and i think for me um i i know at some point i think at some point in

[83:37]the second half of the top 100 we're coming up on appetite for destruction and i just think i'm

[83:41]gonna i'm gonna just judge everything from here until then on whether or not i think it's better

[83:46]than appetite and for me this one's not better than appetite so i did enjoy it i like what matt

[83:51]musicality but i will call it a rolling groan so yeah aaron i just look the young americans is not

[83:57]on the top 500 at all seems weird to me i think it's a really good album that's that's crazy to

[84:02]me i'm interested but like i said everybody who's a who's a boy they know what they're talking about

[84:06]they love this album i read i'm not a bowie person so i'm not maybe not the right and maybe not the

[84:10]authority here but i'm still gonna go i'm sticking with rolling groan yeah i don't know i've been

[84:15]drinking a lot of milk this week i've been trying to get into it not good it's a disaster there's

[84:21]when the baby came it could make it would respond to its name now it doesn't at all i think

[84:27]something's got terribly wrong man man what do you think i was pleasantly surprised i'm gonna

[84:32]give it a rolling uh well-toned i think i again i i was i always think of bowie as kind of this

[84:39]synth guy really dark really uh twisted and mystical and stuff like that and i you know i

[84:46]just for whatever reason this one it was well-constructed songs lots of instruments you

[84:51]i was hearing like early springsteen or maybe early billy joel with all the piano and then

[84:56]uh russell i've been nothing but looking at the roy bitten wikipedia page he's impressive

[85:01]i know matt uh matt from northfield's not gonna be happy that i'm considering bowie to uh

[85:07]to springsteen but it turns out that you know a lot of a lot of bowie stuff was with

[85:11]roy bitten who's essentially been the the uh the touring and then on a bunch of albums with

[85:18]bruce springsteen since 1974 so it's crazy

[85:21]you know and so i i don't know so i heard a lot of that and i think that piano guy comes through so

[85:26]i was uh pleasantly surprised i think i will listen to this bowie album more than

[85:30]any of the other ones that i've heard and so again yeah i'm gonna give it a rolling well-toned

[85:35]well guys the correct answer is that this is a rolling stay shown to stay shown transformation

[85:42]like this this this album is this is this is a huge change this album is a transformation for

[85:51]it marks the end of the david bowie i think that a lot of people think of with the ziggy stardust phase

[85:56]and it's getting more into his experimental not experimental but his more kind of his getting

[86:01]into just straight pop uh less guitar driven type music and i think you can't look past this is also

[86:07]when david bowie's like i'm just done with personas i'm not gonna do that anymore i i kind of miss it

[86:12]like the idea that he did this whole album as a thin white duke when he also was doing tons and

[86:17]tons of cocaine and drinking tons and tons of milk he loved everything that he'd like

[86:21]that's that's that's commitment next up we've got jimmy hendrix's last studio album electric lady

[86:28]oh wow nice guys electric lady russ is asking where he can put the plug when you want to hear

[86:35]about the greatest albums of all time but you're just too lazy to look it up online i wrote that

[86:43]joke down i was good if you want to hear from guys who chat and then they get off track i was

[86:48]gonna say that it answers the question what do we do next i'm gonna say that jimmy hendrix's last studio album electric lady

[86:51]album electric lady i wrote that joke down i was good i was gonna say that jimmy hendrix's last studio album electric lady

[86:51]me think of this crosstown traffic deep cut back did it better and also very dumb okay i think i

[86:58]found it guys informer yeah no say daddy me snow me i go blame uh leak licky boom boom down

[87:07]so he's detective man i say say daddy me snow me stab someone down the lane a licky boom boom down

[87:18]that's why i always turn my tv to the licky boom boom down channel

[87:22]he loves it he is and now i can't now i can't cut out that i thought it kind of sounded like

[87:28]me at karaoke after i got way overdone by nova came by the stupid dentist that overcharged me

[87:33]for that bullshit doctors i'm so fucked

[87:38]so
