[00:00]plus jenny's still awake so i can uh i could be as loud as i want let's hit the music rob

[00:05]hit the music you can't tell me shit this is our new start is it's a cold open with the new song

[00:11]bumblebee red leather yellow leather red leather yellow leather okay

[00:16]in 1920 four friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums decided by

[00:24]rolling stone magazine this resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music

[00:27]ex scoria the order and led us to making this podcast i am so distracted by the video

[00:32]i cannot i mean the opening to macgyver is just him setting up bombs and stuff it's crazy

[00:39]uh we are far from experts we promise to do almost no research all opinions are our own

[00:45]unless you disagree please sit back and enjoy back to it better you know i bet there's a few

[00:50]shows where i've seen as many times as macgyver where i have no memory of the theme song like

[00:55]absolutely none uh we are

[00:57]up to album 227 and from 1956

[01:01]all right good enough there uh we have little richard with here's little richard okay named

[01:11]after what he would say when he answered the door wait would you would he he would say that no uh it

[01:17]was released oh actually it was released in britain you don't have there's no penis joke

[01:21]there i you of all people there's no penis joke i'm above that little richard guy

[01:27]i knew you guys were going to make a little richard big dick joke i'm not going to do it

[01:31]okay although this is going to be a dirty episode i can tell you right now just can't it just felt

[01:35]like it was like set up on a softball there for you i know but that's but see that's what you

[01:39]think man softball set up on a tee there we go russell and when some people zig i gas which is

[01:45]oh which is zig backwards no zag backwards i'm gazing okay so get ready for this gas right now

[01:52]okay you ready for this gas little richard here's little richard it was really good

[01:57]at least in britain as airs little richard

[01:59]russell can i do i can tell russell's reading something else russell can i do an alternate

[02:06]reading of that joke you know the problem with starting without aaron is rob if one of us is

[02:11]sitting out which is typically the case for one of us isn't paying attention you're you're down

[02:16]to matt for audible laughs if that's beginning here so oh okay well i'm gonna try let me just say

[02:21]best of luck to you yeah i'm gonna russell i'm gonna try to gas on you again here ready i'll

[02:27]listen to you

[02:27]okay yeah so uh here's the deal i i just told a joke russell about what it was in britain but i

[02:34]have an alternate version of that okay here's little richard in britain it was called airs

[02:40]little richard the right twat oh it tastes to me nuts i think it'd be fun to live in britain i feel

[02:47]like there's i could say the word twat all the time and nobody could get mad at me and make me

[02:51]edit it out of my own podcast what would be the worst part about living there

[02:57]top five you gotta be kissing more people with bad teeth you know what i mean like you just have

[03:03]to get used to kissing people with bad teeth i don't do you think you could do that russell

[03:06]yeah i think you just get used to it right is that something you get used to it's probably

[03:11]like three four weeks of of online dates where you're kind of caught off guard and then you

[03:16]realize this is just this is what it is and i'm gonna embrace it oh boy i just don't hey rob i

[03:21]just gotta say if we're living in england i would be telling you right now that i'm very knackered

[03:27]oh you're very knackered i like that used to be described somebody who's very tired i that you're

[03:33]trying to take the piss out of me well i i think i think we should start adopting bloke that's a

[03:38]good way to describe somebody i know but man if you start saying bloke you automatically are

[03:44]gonna get judged by people around you you know what i mean like that's the guy at work who says

[03:48]bloke now yeah it it feels like if you don't it feels like it could be offensive or something

[03:53]like that it's a term we don't use over here right i don't know

[03:57]i just i just if a guy was saying the word bloke at my work i don't know if i'd want to hang out

[04:01]with him well it says here the male term bloke is a term for a man similar to dude or bro i always

[04:07]think of a bloke as like a fat guy with a fat guy with a hat right you know like a a not a not

[04:15]positive way of saying what's up bro or look at that guy over there it's you know look at that

[04:20]dumbass over there look at that bloke over there i don't know i think a bloke is a derogatory you

[04:26]want to bring back the word bloke and you're like oh my god i don't know i don't know i don't know

[04:27]you want more people saying bloke and we're all saying bloke hey from now on for this episode guys

[04:31]guess what we're bringing back bloke and we're gonna try to should we here's the deal man let's

[04:36]try to deal with that let's try to get aaron to say bloke okay when you know aaron's not on yet

[04:41]because he's fucking around doing shit with his family or whatever uh but we're gonna try to get

[04:45]him to say bloke when he comes on okay how's that we're gonna gas when he zigs i guess all right

[04:51]sounds good all right let's get right into the guys let's go and let's turn around and let's

[04:57]turn on the radio this is very sad this is very sad without your hearing but let's turn on the

[05:02]radio and listen uh to what's playing okay and it might be maybe the newest hit of the spring okay

[05:09]that you don't hear a lot about songs being the song of the spring but this is it right here and

[05:15]can i just tell you guys this right now it turns out singing like little richard is really hard

[05:20]it's almost it's i would say it's nigh impossible only a bloke would try to really sing like little

[05:25]i was not i was not

[05:27]bloke at all as this was i was the option this i was having i was broke as a i was i was having

[05:34]trouble with this i'll just say that right now so here we go let's turn on the radio you gotta you

[05:38]gotta be you gotta be strong like an oak if you're gonna make a bloke joke you gotta go strong and

[05:44]powerful you can't i can't on it no folks that bloke joke okay croaked but now i'm gonna be like

[05:53]an oak and i'm going to not choke

[05:57]when i joke about blokes all right we're gonna say blokes full throat hopefully this is more of

[06:01]a cheeky song oh my gosh man man is so british it's so great i love it man this is we're gonna

[06:07]be huge overseas okay actually that was just like uh my parents when they found my grades out

[06:13]they were overseas they were over they were stoked they was

[06:19]from kensington on stoke hey there's a british shit british people listen to it they were gobsmacked

[06:27]hey hey hey russell let me ask you this what do you think of french fries

[06:31]or would you rather have chips that's i gotta say they got that right chips is more

[06:39]appealing than french fries to me hey rob i think we know our opening song next week right

[06:43]what's that chips oh oh my god now chips that's a banger of a theme song russell you nailed it

[06:50]with that one good job all right let's turn on the radio i've tried to solve for air to show

[06:53]up so i can get some laughs but it's not happening here we go everybody this is

[06:57]k-rob k-r-o-b today i can't talk very loud but i do want to tell you that it's actually really

[07:02]hard to hit these high notes and little richard hits i don't know how he does it it's like a

[07:06]but it's hard oh that was a good one i couldn't why couldn't i do it like that

[07:09]oh i did it again

[07:11]you know that she is fast asleep

[07:14]so that is why i have to often talk quietly

[07:20]jenny jenny jenny jenny because if i wake her up she comes out and yells at me

[07:26]jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny when she sleeps you know she's sleeping on her back

[07:31]jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny with her arms crossed looking just like drac jenny jenny

[07:38]jenny jenny jenny except if i wake her up she doesn't want to suck my neck

[07:43]jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny these late nights might lead to my divorce at last

[07:49]jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny if that happens i have to quit the podcast

[07:55]jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny jenny i won't have time for the show because i'll be getting so much ass

[08:01]there you go one of the few songs that pretends my incoming divorce

[08:08]and what i imagine my white life will be like afterwards

[08:12]browning an ass

[08:16]we should talk about that'll be my rolling going talking about

[08:21]oh okay

[08:23]better

[08:24]better

[08:25]sounds good

[08:25]can't wait

[08:26]uh listen we are here we are back to the better we are going down the list of the five actually

[08:31]we're kind of going up the list but we're going to a higher number if you think about it it's kind

[08:34]of like elevation in mount everest uh we are looking at the top 500 albums and we're all the

[08:40]way up to 227 looking at little richard okay one of our oldest albums 1956 i've got three guys here

[08:47]who want to do their best little richard yell right now like this oh so good okay i've got

[08:55]minneapolis man how are you doing

[08:56]good rob a crazy little partner you want to see us real and rock jenny jenny

[09:01]i figured we'd have a lot of jenny jenny talk on this uh and i've got russell in minneapolis

[09:11]russell how are you doing guys i know matt's been talking about how we got to speed these

[09:16]late ones along so i hope this podcast is like my bald head sally built for speed wow she's got

[09:23]everything i need russell she's built for speed jenny jenny we should we should let everybody know

[09:29]two things right we should everybody know quick album you'll tell us the time but we are recording

[09:33]two tonight which means we will not have two hour episodes like last week because thank god because

[09:39]i when i sat down to edit that shit and i put it into garage band and it said two hours and 50

[09:43]minutes i was like what the fuck i don't remember talking about anything the other night that was

[09:47]crazy because russell and i were carrying the damn thing so now you got to carry this one rob and

[09:52]also and also for our british blokes who are just tuning in from across the pond jenny is my wife's

[09:57]name okay and she doesn't like me jenny jenny she regrets having married me rob likes to take

[10:03]pictures of jenny on the loo i don't like to i just do it okay but it's more of a duty okay it's

[10:12]like when you sign up for the army okay you don't want to do it you feel like he's a bird

[10:17]rob takes pictures of on the loo

[10:19]rob's got a shepherd's pie

[10:22]in his fridge while he's on the loo oh my god i wish blimey

[10:25]russell what's your thought on a shepherd's pie i don't need i think i've maybe had it

[10:30]once or twice it's not my jam oh what it's mashed potatoes steak peas

[10:36]that's it i mean that's i take efforts had a lot more potatoes than i thought

[10:42]i'm not really a mashed potato guy anymore oh my god they bog you down too much that's not my jam

[10:48]i'm out that's crazy man what do you think of mashed potatoes

[10:52]uh if they're done right have i told you mashed potatoes at thanksgiving i i make a great mashed

[10:58]potato of course everybody thinks that i've got a i've got one of those uh submergible blender

[11:03]things you know so that you can see so you you steam the you boil the potatoes right steam them

[11:10]so all the water gets off right after you've peeled them of course and then you get the blender

[11:15]then you put a little whole milk a couple sticks of butter blend it all together makes very creamy

[11:20]mashed potatoes i'm

[11:22]you know i'm thinking this is great i go to going to thanksgiving and my mom's side of the family

[11:26]i'm making the best mashed potatoes ever and all of a sudden my cousin shows up and her husband

[11:32]and they live on a farm and then they brought mashed potatoes too and like oh where'd you get

[11:36]the well we regrew the potatoes so they completely those blokes completely upstage me wow they

[11:43]completely upstage because they grow their own damn potatoes and made homemade mashed potatoes

[11:47]that were truly homemade now man let me ask you skins on or skins off okay this is like a

[11:52]this is like a basketball game in middle school for me if you have mashed potatoes like with

[11:55]thanksgiving yeah gotta be skin off but i love a good baked potato with skin on i you know what

[12:01]i'm gonna say something controversial i kind of like mashed potatoes with skin in there i like

[12:05]the little flecks of skin little scabs of potato in my mashed potatoes you know what i mean like

[12:09]those little scabs get to eat them i love that stuff russell what do you think i like eating

[12:13]salmon skin upstairs roommate she's out no no goodbye we need to leave russell that's not russell

[12:22]i can edit that out if you want me to that's the most fucked up take i've ever heard in my entire

[12:26]life but you're just salmon skin man all fish all fish skin no just salmon you got a wallet

[12:33]you're not talking about the gray part are you you're talking about the skin

[12:36]yeah like the scales and everything like the outs the outside of the fish what are the upstairs

[12:42]roommates say beside barf i don't know that is a that is that russell russell you know you know

[12:51]that's a guy you're you're one of hold on i'm trying to find the word you're one of my mates

[12:57]yeah but matt you strike me as you don't eat any fish right oh no i fucking love salmon i eat a lot

[13:05]of fish i make a killer salmon on the grill in the oven i've got great salmon you guys a piece

[13:12]of everyone i think you guys are the wrong salmon skin is generally edible it's nutritious and

[13:16]flavorful part of the fish keyword various ways keyword they're generally edible it's general i

[13:23]mean i'm sure i've eaten a scale here there russell but i'm not like i'm not putting the skin down as

[13:28]like the last little treat on the salmon i mean if i was you know that there's a pretty good show

[13:34]called i think it's called alone where they're out in the alaskan woods and everything like that like

[13:38]absolutely i'd be eating salmon skin yeah life dependent on right i'm not even sure bears eat

[13:43]salmon skin i think they like just eat the eggs and brain i don't think they go for the skin i i

[13:49]think you guys are in your own world i think you're wrong on this one i think you're just

[13:53]you're just scared scared punks scared okay let's let's take a bet okay aaron has come in

[14:00]okay and by the way aaron we've got aaron out in oakland okay wanker aaron recently recently went

[14:07]to a tennis umpire school he wants to be a tennis umpire and at the school the teacher said look to

[14:13]your left now look to your right that's 90 of the job that's it that's the whole thing it's just

[14:21]going back and forth i got it uh i'm ready is aaron gonna think this is is aaron gonna think

[14:25]this is fucked up matt will aaron think this is fucked up what russell just said uh you know i'm

[14:30]gonna go with a a solid yes even though this sounds like it would be but i'm gonna go with

[14:35]a solid yes you guys are way off i'm gonna say do we need to clap no we need to get a role right now

[14:42]i'm gonna say no just because of the uh the the i think this is similar to a shrimp tail russell this

[14:49]by the way that's where i put it on the same at all it's true but hold on hold on this if aaron

[14:56]says this is fucked up how fucked up yeah is it that russell does this really okay oh because

[15:03]that's like all the shit that's right go through it all yeah uh is it well what the fucked up shit

[15:10]that aaron does yeah he eats that he eats oh uh well i can't even remember the blossoms he has

[15:16]the blossoms he has the dandelion roots or whatever dandelion greens he has the soy skin

[15:22]he has the skin of the soy he's uh shrimp tails shrimp tail oh and of course we can't forget

[15:28]nooch he's got a number of yeast that he eats like he has his anus he loves the anus that's right

[15:34]well that's right russell tell aaron what you just told us i

[15:40]these guys were talking about eating something and i wasn't really listening to rob so i just

[15:44]i changed the subject and i said i enjoy eating salmon skin i always eat the skin on salmon oh

[15:49]hell yeah see wait yeah fuck yeah are you serious maybe i told you yeah i get that matt doesn't do

[15:56]it matt strikes me as he's not going to do anything that that's too strange for him but rob

[16:01]rob not eating it honestly really surprises me it's probably one of the best parts

[16:05]rob haven't you been to like bernard and or somewhere where they would like really make

[16:09]the nice beautifully crispy salmon skin like i am here would knock that out of the park

[16:14]never going to eat salmon skin i would never eat it it is gross no stop it is gross okay hey call in

[16:23]802-277-BECK let us know like you eat like a chicken drumstick right that has chicken skin

[16:28]on it what's the difference chicken skin delicious what's the difference fish skin disgusting okay

[16:34]if i make salmon at home and i make like you know

[16:38]point set like uh 12 ounces of salmon for the three of us yeah i'll make the whole filet and

[16:44]then i'll pull off the entire 12 ounce skin you eat that myself yeah yeah it's just a little chef's

[16:49]treat can i can i can i just read what ai said google ai so when i when i typed in what what

[16:55]what was the question you asked percentage of people that eat salmon skin yeah zero i tried i

[17:01]tried to i tried to get it like very general i wasn't trying to be leading or anything can i

[17:06]can i say what it says russell

[17:08]it's probably difficult to pinpoint i would imagine while there's no definitive statistic

[17:13]on the exact percentage of people who eat salmon skin it's generally considered

[17:17]that a significant minority of people regularly consume it with many choosing to remove it due to

[17:24]this is where you guys are going to come in unfamiliarity with proper cooking methods or

[17:28]concerns about texture even though it's perfectly edible it could be a healthy addition to a diet

[17:33]people are scared people don't want to eat something nice and crispy well i'm not scared

[17:38]here's i think no all i could i could salmon so that it's like i don't know medium rare i don't

[17:46]know how you i don't know how you you judge salmon like i do not like it overcooked right

[17:50]no like you're not gonna have it overcooked the skin is barely cooked at all in my opinion right

[17:56]and so if it's not on the grill you're not getting it crispy there is no way i'm eating that slimy

[18:01]shit it you gotta leave it in the fridge uncovered overnight skin side up so it forms a pellicle

[18:07]gets nice and dry and then you gotta get your skillet ripping hot put it in the skillet skin

[18:13]side down and then you get a nice crispy skin on the bottom or on the grill you start skin side up

[18:18]and then flip it over because it has time to dry out and then you can crisp it up it guys it doesn't

[18:23]matter you could tell me my penis could get bigger by eating salmon skin i'm not going to do it it

[18:27]sounds disgusting that's not true okay you would try you would try now aaron you try aaron you did

[18:34]miss the parody song but i do want to say oh sorry go ahead man

[18:37]if if somebody told you legitimately that your penis would get bigger okay i wouldn't yeah

[18:42]because there are some times where i was like i'm like i do think my life would be totally different

[18:53]if if i just had a huge schlong just just one where like everybody was always like

[18:58]like that was like i had a nickname based around it you know like like the hose rob the knob

[19:03]big knob rob you know there was a guy in the baseball team who was like i'm not gonna do it

[19:07]we called the hose it wasn't because he was a pitcher he was a j he was a jv pitcher on as a

[19:13]size a senior yeah so it had nothing to do with his arm but what i mean can you imagine that's

[19:19]what i would get like on my letter jacket the hose i mean can you imagine unless it was an

[19:23]ironic name like how people called me tiny growing up you know what i mean how my family i'm little

[19:27]rob wait and at some point do you do you choose to wear tight pants or do you have to like wear

[19:32]regular pants and then tell people you know like hey it's actually really big down there like you

[19:37]have to tell people it just takes one or two showers everybody's gonna know everybody's gonna

[19:43]know yeah a hundred percent yeah yeah i definitely would because i think in my life i think i would

[19:49]just have so much more confidence i think i really think like i certainly wouldn't be hanging out

[19:53]with any of you guys i'd be like a ceo somewhere i'd be in charge of like a big corporation with

[19:57]my huge schlong oh my god okay instead often there is often a lot of big dick energy in

[20:04]corporate exec yeah i will tell you that yeah

[20:07]instead here i am caring for my it's usually fake i never make it to that rarefied air

[20:12]yeah here i am caring for my family basically a gatherer oh my god oh god

[20:19]uh guys just let you know i did isolate the background vocals from that uh parody song so

[20:26]let me just play those real quick because they are upsetting to listen to it turns out

[20:29]getting the who for little richard is very dumb oh i tried so many times today

[20:37]let's hear it aaron let's hear your who

[20:39]oh my god that was so good really hard that was so much better than any of us right now

[20:47]i don't know listen hey rob speaking of woos you do hear a lot of those on this album

[20:53]i'm jumping the gun we're doing a list of the greatest songs ever featuring

[20:58]wow that's crazy let's start this list and i was definitely ready to hit that song

[21:03]wow we're doing a list pre-voicemail i think this is the first time i've ever done a list of the

[21:07]first time this must be a good list sometimes the pre-voicemail can make you laugh more than

[21:12]the regular voicemails that's true come organically russell just lets it come organically

[21:16]listen a lot of my pre-voicemail does come organically oh it's like eating salmon skin

[21:21]it's organic first song on the list we have to we have to highlight the greatest

[21:26]woo or ever let's give them two claps it's the rick flair theme song

[21:31]oh yeah

[21:35]i was i forgot it opens with this what a simple concept you know what i mean just a guy who says

[21:42]a lot and then is my favorite type of wrestler you know this

[21:46]the rich guy who just wrestles as a hobby my favorite theme of wrestler he could be doing

[21:54]anything with his life he's beautiful but instead he wants to go into a ring and beat the shit out

[22:01]of people in front of other people for money he's got a big house on the big screen

[22:05]side of town he's got more cars than this podcast has listeners

[22:09]i told you i i ref that wrestling meet at my school where it was semi-professional wrestlers

[22:17]it's called a match and one of the guys was a was a rick flair of course the main bad guy was

[22:23]kind of a rick flair wannabe and i gotta tell you the rick flair bit is so effective where this guy

[22:29]came in and said my jeans are worth more than every car out in this parking lot and people went

[22:35]ballistic and he's like i've been to i've been to places you people have only seen on postcards

[22:39]and i was like god this is such a good bit of just the prick rich guy it's so great

[22:44]i i'm i'm eating the salmon skin

[22:48]rob i was wondering where rick flair got the woo from and i looked it up and he got it from

[22:55]someone else i didn't give you the song we're not going to play it because we've talked about this

[22:58]guy before and when you listen to the song knowing he dated like married his 13 year old cousin it

[23:02]gets a little weird but he actually got that from a guy who was a rick flair and he was like

[23:05]from jerry lee lewis great balls of fire he said he heard that in the 70s and so then he took it

[23:10]and kind of made it his own so he changed it from like a woo to a woo but that's where it came from

[23:15]rick flair who wow jerry lee lewis was like right around the same time as little richard right

[23:20]they're kind of contemporaries and yeah that's right yeah no doubt all right next song on the

[23:24]list is from rob bass and dj easy rock it's it takes two oh nice hit it

[23:31]oh

[23:35]wow is that a james brown sample no oh that is a james brown

[23:39]and it actually comes from a famous funk song by lynn collins called think about it

[23:46]and that's one of the most sampled funk songs ever okay but i was reading and so

[23:52]i'm not sure about that james brown produced that song use his sample for the

[23:59]woo i was reading james brown like was good friends with little richard

[24:05]they got to know each other in georgia i believe that's right they would have done the chitlin

[24:08]circuit together i think for sure percent and brown actually impersonated little richard at

[24:13]a lot of shows because a lot of people didn't know what little richard looked like so james

[24:16]brown like when he couldn't make it james brown would show up and so he would really impersonate

[24:22]little richard so i'm assuming that woo has got to be influenced by little richard for sure right

[24:28]no doubt yeah the other thing that i thought you guys would love and rob you're gonna have to get

[24:32]ready to cue the music on a different soundbite i'm gonna let you hear it first so let's get started

[24:35]let's go find the james brown soundbite on your thing okay but i was actually reading one of our

[24:40]favorite songs ever he was apps absolutely uh influenced by little richard he picked up a

[24:46]napkin one time and little richard had wrote down on the napkin please please please so that was the

[24:51]influence for james brown's famous please please please whoa so he had just written down little

[24:58]richard had just written this down yes and james brown was like damn this guy's a goddamn

[25:05]genius yeah okay he also has he forgets he's like there's a nap but there's another napkin on the

[25:10]table just says long tall sally he's like i don't know what the fuck that means okay and there's

[25:14]one over here that just says wap baba loobaba wap bam boom no thank you don't need it i wonder if

[25:19]that long tall sally ever wore a black dress and was a woman in a black dress this is the holly's

[25:24]woman in a black dress that's a really good boo isn't it i like that one

[25:35]jenny has now gone to bed of course right during the woo list so graham nash aaron i think was one

[25:40]of the holly's right that's okay yeah i had beef with their status the holly's actually performed

[25:46]i think with little richard a few times and graham nash i thought the story was so crazy

[25:50]they asked him what did you think of little richard or what was your impression and his

[25:54]big story was he was backstage at a show with them and he saw him chew out jimmy hendrix for

[26:00]playing his guitar behind his head and he's like don't you ever do that again at one of my shows

[26:05]so graham nash's memory was him chewing out jimmy hendrix isn't that wild yeah i don't think little

[26:10]richard gave a shit i think he was he was the star for a long time and he would tell people what's

[26:15]what he probably told me you could either stay or you should go next song on the list is the

[26:20]clash should i stay or should i go oh there it is oh that's good oh that's good i can tell you it's

[26:32]hard do that

[26:35]joe strummer was a huge fan of little richard's music

[26:38]he said he developed his love of music listening to little richard records as a kid

[26:44]when he died he said he made his way out of the bus station to macon georgia and into the history

[26:50]books his records were great they're still sound great they will always be great can i just play

[26:56]this one for you i think this is the one where i actually laughed when i sang it so badly are you

[27:00]ready for this aaron jenny jenny jenny jenny no wait not that one

[27:05]no wait excuse me

[27:08]because i tried doing a whole because i switched it up and it did not work it's hard it's a tough

[27:22]one so russell i'm adding myself to your list i needed to make a quick clarification so matt

[27:27]didn't catch me on these i did not put anything on the list where it was a woohoo or woo ha if

[27:34]there was like a two syllable word it was off so sympathy for the devil the woohoo that didn't make

[27:40]it blur no no buster rhyme didn't make it and no no bust a woo ha so those all got vetoed from the

[27:46]list all right next up on the list this is aaron's one of his all-time favorites we talked about

[27:51]the end of black oh i don't know that one matt we might pull it this one is uh prince check this

[27:58]out yeah gotta be some prince oh that's pretty good isn't it

[28:04]yeah i mean there is a you're gonna you're probably gonna get into it there's such a direct

[28:09]line from little richard to prince talk about it i mean the the cover of the controversy album right

[28:16]he's dressed like little richard or maybe it was even the performance the mustache and everything

[28:20]right yeah he took a lot of look a lot of the mannerisms the sound yeah and i don't know if

[28:26]prince ever talk about it he didn't really say too much about little richard he was obviously

[28:30]influenced by like a stage persona his music his fashion kind of the gender and stuff like that and

[28:34]her fluidity a lot of stuff definitely came from little richard and he never really said a lot

[28:39]about little richard but little richard did call prince the little richard of his generation so i

[28:43]feel like that's a show of appreciation right i think so yeah and now that he's dead russell to me

[28:49]you're the little richard of this generation

[28:51]the last one on the list i don't know if this is a bloke if he's from the u.s or not

[28:56]i think he is so he might not be a bloke matt but this is jack check this song out

[29:04]that's a big one that is a big one isn't it it's a big one jack white

[29:17]and jack white has been known for kind of doing that woo a lot he's got the rick player going a

[29:23]lot in his songs and i was there was a it's interesting i was googling him and little

[29:28]richard and there's an interview with him and dan rather on like 60 minutes from years ago and he

[29:33]asks him like what are the

[29:34]what is the greatest rock song ever and he talks a little bit with the stooges

[29:38]and then he essentially says really the greatest rock songs come from little richard to jerry lee

[29:43]lewis so i thought that tied it all up jack white definitely influenced big time by little richard

[29:48]so yeah there's the greatest woo songs ever that's an incredible list and just like since

[29:53]the stage for russell how influential little richard was it's amazing russell i gotta tell

[29:58]you great if i was a singer and somebody wrote in the lyrics you gotta yell woo

[30:04]how stressful that is like you just it's hard to hit that note i mean guys listen to this i've

[30:08]even isolated i mean like oh and that's well actually that sounds pretty good to me that's

[30:13]so pretty good that kind of sounds fun yeah what happens if i now what happens if i loop that we

[30:17]just listen to it the whole this is rob my name is rob okay i just run rob with rob all right let's

[30:27]get into the voicemail

[30:29]pre-list voicemail russell

[30:34]voicemail list we're gonna get in the back line it's kind of half of that right seven seven back

[30:39]it's true three organic seven seven two three after that after that list russell i'm feeling

[30:43]woozy feeling woozy hey guys hope everything's going well with you i need to enter the advice

[30:52]corner for a minute oh you know that you should get to the corner like us it's a time for russell

[30:58]this guy's vice corner oh yeah my upstairs your mate

[31:04]and some neighbors were planning on attending a candlelight hip-hop concert by a string orchestra

[31:11]but we delayed getting tickets due to possible playoff football game conflicts with our hometown

[31:20]teams oh as such we missed the window to purchase tickets before they were sold out

[31:26]so my question to you all is would you choose possible sports slash football games over a night

[31:34]with your upstairs roommate and friends oh this person needs advice from three blokes who are very

[31:41]good at giving advice would you pick a night out with your friends and upstairs roommate okay or

[31:48]would you possibly think about playoff sports playoffs we're talking about the playoffs okay

[31:53]uh russell what do you think uh if it's a if it's a timberwolves game i'd rather watch the

[31:58]wolves game any other sporting event i'll probably take a night out why matt what do you think

[32:04]uh unless your kid is playing you should take a night out get you know cut the high school sports

[32:11]out okay aaron are we talking about what kind of playoffs are we talking about here high school

[32:16]football high school football playoffs but that's because the kid might be playing in the in the

[32:21]playoffs no no kids are no this is just going to the local if your kid is playing then you

[32:27]absolutely go watch your kid uh yeah then yeah if it's the high school football players it might be

[32:32]cold the game might be terrible you gotta choose the game you gotta choose the game

[32:34]the night out but one thing i will say the the caller who's calling in on this i kind of feel

[32:39]like you know which way they went they missed it obviously i will say i will say these candlelight

[32:45]concerts are a dime a dozen it's not like there's only one you can go to there's plenty of options

[32:49]so missing it once it's not like if this is a prince concert that's never going to come around

[32:54]again there's going to be other options so i actually i'm kind of on board with his line of

[32:58]thinking of saying hey you know maybe we can go to the next one and let's go check out the game

[33:04]what do you think rob

[33:05]i well i mean listen you're talking to a guy who once dragged his wife across

[33:11]north dakota to go to a high school football game to scout and it was pouring rain in north dakota

[33:17]in october and she wanted to kill me she thought it was the worst idea of all time

[33:22]going to a high school football game is her idea of an absolute nightmare however

[33:27]did you win the game for which you were scouting what's that did you win the game for which you

[33:32]were scouting oh i don't remember

[33:34]aaron who cares i was scouting the game who cares there were so many games aaron where i

[33:38]would have to go scout and then that team wouldn't even win or like be in the playoff so i just

[33:43]scouted them for nothing and plus when i bring back my notes they would always be like what the

[33:47]fuck is this shit and i was like i don't know how to scout i'm supposed to know how to scout a

[33:51]football game i wrote down what the plays were i don't know and i wrote down who their good players

[33:54]were you know like two or cover zero you know what i'll tell you what i was a fucking good scout i

[34:01]could tell you what play they were going to run on short distance i knew all these guys

[34:04]they always thought i was a fucking idiot and you know why because my handwriting looks like i have

[34:08]issues in my brain okay because my handwriting looks like a three-year-old nobody would think

[34:13]i was a very good scout i got some i got some for you guys how about this if we can get one

[34:18]of our listeners to go to a candlelight concert outside of us four of course we have there's been

[34:23]a couple that have gone how about if anyone goes in the next few weeks yeah you guys have to try

[34:27]a salmon skin at some point on the next oh jesus christ you sound like my kid trying

[34:34]to like i've got a bargain for you blokes take the bargain you sound like my kid tried to like

[34:39]rob take the bar take the bargain somebody goes to all you know what i'll up it the deal i'll up

[34:44]it to any fever up event that's not canceled the 830 is not canceled on them okay i'll take any

[34:50]fever up event it by march by the end of march if anybody goes i will eat a salmon skin and i will

[34:56]do it on the show on the air my yeah you can hear my reaction to eating the salmon skin last time

[35:01]you had fish products out it didn't go well on your computer

[35:04]yeah i know my school computer still smells like oysters we're gonna get into rolling going and

[35:08]aaron earlier we mentioned that when other people zig it's time for we gas which is the opposite of

[35:15]zag oh we gas we're gonna gas right now and russell we're gazing up you go first you're

[35:20]the gas of the night robert could you pull up a song for me crazy little thing called love would

[35:24]be great oh by queen please boom crazy giving up on the reason we're asking for this song

[35:30]i went to a candlelight concert last night i went to see

[35:34]i went to see candlelight queen celebrate my candlelight by fever up wow you missed

[35:41]minnetonka versus hopkins basketball last night to go to fever up i did but i will say man it was

[35:47]a 6 30 show and i was not happy about it even though i was the one who scheduled in 6 30 is

[35:52]too early of a show right that's pretty early no man you get home get to bed by nine o'clock

[35:58]that sounds like a fucking you had to leave work early russell sometimes stays work late right

[36:02]russell are you like a 10 get to work at 10 kind of a guy or you get to work at 7 38 no i'm a late

[36:09]go in and late come home see now russell can i ask you this you set an alarm in the morning

[36:16]on the phone yes what yeah on your phone that's where your alarm is my wife that's an alarm about

[36:25]once every two weeks and when she does she gets so mad she's like oh my god i gotta set an alarm

[36:31]then she's like alexa turn on an alarm for 8 30 a.m she's so mad and i'm like what the fuck

[36:37]i'm up every morning at six don't even get me started about what i'm doing tomorrow morning

[36:42]by the way 8 30 dentist appointment i'm literally gonna get three hours of sleep tonight and then

[36:47]i'm going to the dentist don't get me started but i will start myself up i'm going to the dentist

[36:52]we have appointments at 8 30 9 and then mine is at 10 30 so i'm gonna have to like sit around for a

[36:58]while

[36:59]oh

[36:59]door

[37:01]door

[37:01]sorry russell tell us about your i get some reading done is that what you just said aaron

[37:06]yeah bring a book buy it there i do need to bring a book because every time it works somebody asked

[37:13]me a book i've been reading it's been the same one now for about six months i think they're

[37:16]getting suspicious russell tell us about your fever it was it was a great show it was a four

[37:22]string quartet they did a fantastic job and one of the great things about these shows we've talked

[37:26]about this before 65 70 minutes in and out it's a very quick show

[37:31]so it doesn't take up your whole night and this was actually at the westminster presbyterian

[37:36]sanctuary church in minneapolis matt that's off about 12th and marquette which is in between

[37:42]13th and probably nickel and ball somewhere over there yeah there you go

[37:47]but we got we got in there and i had bought section a tickets which is near the front

[37:54]and it was already packed we had to sit way on the side so we were staring at the backs

[38:00]of two of the performers that's tough russell you're you're not having the luck with the fever

[38:05]up lately it was a great show though they put on a good show the way um they also got the what

[38:11]what's the song we will rock you where the hands clapping so the the bass player the cello what's

[38:17]the big one aaron is that a cello the bigger one it's gonna hold the stand down you probably have

[38:22]two violins a viola and a cello yeah there you go so the cello guy got that was kind of playing

[38:26]i would call it like a slap bass style thing and got the uh you know the bass player and the cello

[38:30]got the people going with the hit the hands fired up i don't love it all that whole thing but just

[38:36]like they did a really good job it was really fun a great show i would recommend people go check it

[38:40]out russell what are they opening with i gotta imagine they're opening with flash a theme to

[38:47]flash gordon i don't remember which one they closed they obviously closed with bohemian rap

[38:51]city i'll i'll tell you a few of the songs the the list i'm looking at they changed the set list a

[38:55]little bit but some of the songs that we heard were we will rock you into we are the champions

[38:59]into we will rock you the the double song like you would expect right yeah they had somebody to

[39:05]love don't stop me now killer queen crazy little thing called love which was shocking maybe one of

[39:11]my favorite ones they did they were it was so unique and so good love of my life another one

[39:16]bites the dust those are the type of songs but i was thinking when i was there and you guys tell me

[39:21]if you were gonna take make a greatest hits album 12 songs no more no less is queen's best 12 songs

[39:29]like a top 10 greatest hits or not absolutely i think i think you you you think you can tell

[39:37]me 11 bands that would have 10 songs better than queen no way that drop off happens pretty fast

[39:44]smashing pumpkins no way

[39:49]i can't name 12 smashing pumpkin socks for sure i don't know if i named a little deceitous there

[39:57]oh got it okay no i was trying to think like

[39:59]can i really name 12 pumpkin songs what i typically do is go to amazon music if i'm

[40:06]getting like a new band and just listen to like start start at the top but like they're top songs

[40:09]right usually they yes by the rank but so stop me when it gets to 12 aaron okay i'm just gonna go

[40:14]what they've got is listed in order of the top songs for queen all right we will rock you

[40:20]bohemian rhapsody yeah under pressure another one bites the dust don't stop me now

[40:29]we are the champions fat bottom girls somebody to love yeah crazy little thing called love

[40:35]yep you're my best friend oh love it radio gaga yeah killer queen that's 12 that's 12

[40:42]yeah and you didn't get to i want to break free yeah banger yeah radio gaga on quick would you

[40:47]we need to do bicycle race we didn't get i want to break free

[40:50]yeah it goes modern times rock and roll love of my life don't stop me now cool cat we will uh

[40:57]under good old-fashioned love

[40:59]i want to break free somebody to love i mean there's some great songs

[41:04]so this was a very heavily queen week for me so i don't know if you guys ever listened to

[41:10]rewatchables it's on the ringer they talk about a new movie every week and this week

[41:14]they just happen to be talking about wayne's world and they talked about like how for a lot

[41:19]of people this is for me too the first exposure i ever had to queen is without question bohemian

[41:24]rhapsody on wayne's right i didn't yeah a hundred percent i hadn't heard him before that at all

[41:29]i i mean and that's the thing is that you do people don't realize how big like i don't think

[41:36]that could happen anymore where a song from a movie it gets so big where it dominates the

[41:41]charts again for like a month it happens all the time maybe not maybe not months

[41:46]matt's in a mood today matt's not gonna let you get away with any bullshit

[41:50]he's gonna call you out what just happened was the kate bush song just came out with uh

[41:55]oh running running up a hill yeah from the stranger things

[41:59]so i listened i listened to the podcast they talked a lot about that went to the show it was

[42:03]good and then i'm gonna tell you guys more about this next week but i also when i was at the record

[42:08]store this week i picked up queen a night at the opera oh yeah wow so it was a good addition but

[42:14]that was my week with queen matt rolling going how's it going with you uh good famously of course

[42:20]the parody song for that album was about how i wanted to have sex with my car just to remind

[42:25]everybody famous everyone remembers that the one aaron aaron wrote and performed with the

[42:29]purple that was one of me okay aaron chipped in he said what about the glove compartment i was like

[42:35]uh rob can you play a song for me please uh can you just put on golden slumbers and then carry

[42:42]the weight in the end by oh yeah you know golden slumbers i'm not gonna be talking about something

[42:49]that may have had an snl character on it once there was a well i had a bunch of characters

[42:54]with this i watched the snl wayne's world characters on right you know another and i didn't

[42:59]see it at all because it was like three and a half hours but paul mccartney ended with this

[43:03]song and it was awesome and there was like 17 000 uh guests you know that were in the crowd

[43:11]instead of having like crowd members they had like past they're like peyton manning

[43:16]john ham i'm trying i can't even name a whole bunch of them but these people they're they're

[43:22]watching paul mccartney sing this song and they're all standing on their feet like in awe and

[43:29]it was like one of the coolest music things i think i've seen in a long time we've got just

[43:34]these a-list stars are watching a professional do his job and they're just in awe of watching

[43:40]this thing so it was awesome i mean there's just a million things if you haven't watched snl 50

[43:46]it's like three and a half hours i haven't even seen it all yet but it is uh

[43:50]um it is definitely worth it to watch it do you guys watch it

[43:54]yeah i did i worked my way through it over a couple nights the one thing i was really wishing i'd

[43:59]happened is there's an old snl sketch where i don't remember who the actor is where the

[44:03]he pitches to lauren to bring on the beatles and he's like he's like three thousand dollars

[44:09]to play three songs and he's like and he says she loves you yeah yeah that's a thousand bucks right

[44:14]there and i was like can you imagine if they had gotten ringo to come on with paul and lauren comes

[44:19]out with a one thousand dollar check and he's like yeah for the beatles three and i hear is one

[44:25]thousand dollars and apparently they were close oh that was close

[44:29]around and talking about it they're like it would be funny if we went in and just did it like as a

[44:32]joke yeah like that would have been an ultimate move that's cool yeah but yes the the whole

[44:38]special singing the song in a crowd it would that would have been an ensemble of a couple mates on

[44:42]that huh aaron couple mates a couple yeah it'd be great to get some blokes in there oh there it is

[44:48]we are 53 minutes in and we got aaron to say blokes just like we said we're gonna do there

[44:52]we go is that what you've been trying aaron you're putting her hands okay now aaron do you want aaron

[44:58]do you want to say this dean now this dean and then i win some more money

[45:03]the one thing i was going to ask is did you guys see the opening where paul simon opened

[45:09]yeah what did you think of that i i mean i guess i kind of get why they did it i think it kind of

[45:14]felt fun yeah but paul simon's coming to minneapolis for four nights at the office

[45:19]yeah so i in april i think i gotta go what do you think i was looking at going to but

[45:24]admittedly i don't want to be too harsh but he looked like he was maybe not going to be too harsh

[45:28]maybe past his prime a little bit and the opening that's why you got to go see yeah you got to go

[45:33]right you want to see him while you can so i'm not going to make plans to me i'm not going to

[45:38]make plans in case there's a playoff football game on that too but if there's no playoff football

[45:43]games i'll probably go watch rob was maybe going to come into town that week and we were going to

[45:48]go see that bloke garfunkel instead i i feel so stupid because i heard on tiktok that the place to

[45:56]be during this snl 50 stuff

[45:58]is you should have been going to the fucking comedy clubs in the city oh because that's where

[46:03]everybody was yeah because everybody was doing stand-up sets there like they were they were

[46:08]they were trying to work their material and so they were just nate bergatsky came out today

[46:13]some podcast was talking about just these epic epic nights where you paid like 15 bucks 18 bucks

[46:20]to get in on just on some random night and then all of these people are just like like literally

[46:25]like steve martin to martin short yeah they're like you know they're like they're like they're

[46:28]just the heaviest all-time hitters you'd be like well this is an all-time damn it okay and maybe

[46:35]maybe they could have called me too i've got a great bit about the new york knicks having sex

[46:39]with my wife that went over mediocre with a lot of people last time you know what i think i think

[46:42]they did miss we've talked about this before that that line right there remember that is also a

[46:48]famous line with chris farley where farley's doing the interview with yes mccartney is that true

[46:55]that the love you take is equal to the love you make and

[46:58]and yeah paul says yes i generally believe that and then farley like gives like a fist bump right

[47:04]oh man cool good stuff so uh i i did i did tease that i was gonna talk about divorce but it was

[47:11]basically just and we're going a little long so but i had just one hell of a week because sarah was

[47:16]sick as a dog we had eddie was sick as a dog and sarah and i just had like the worst i had like a

[47:22]russell week at work where i was just busy as all get out oh no russell week that's terrible yeah

[47:26]it's horrible horrible so i'm

[47:28]running around i'm just gonna say right now you want your weeks to be aaron weeks you do not want

[47:33]russell weeks you know what i mean you want russell you want to be at home my kids are school at 125

[47:38]every day this week so i'm also feeling pretty fucking ragged criminal oh 125 i was driving

[47:46]driving the kids to school picking them up making dinner make all this stuff and i just i i don't

[47:50]know i couldn't make it as a as a solo parent so sarah can basically do whatever she wants and

[47:56]because i can't i can't i can't i can't live life without her so she's safe i'm not safe she's safe

[48:03]that's the end of i'm not getting divorced although i gotta say man it would give a lot

[48:08]of content to the podcast i feel like that now russell is kind of dried up but i feel like if

[48:13]matt went into the dating world yeah i feel like if matt went into the dating world i don't think

[48:18]we would get as much fun information like i think matt would just be like i'm slinging it it's going

[48:22]great i'd be like no that's not right it's fun i want to hear about the disaster

[48:26]but it's just something to think about aaron did we go to you have you done your rolling going no

[48:30]i'm not are we gassing it was the meat of gas hang on i guess i need a i need a prop

[48:36]doing props for my rolling goings lately oh a pittsburgh pittsburgh pirates hat i do want to

[48:45]say first of all uh last night on the pta meeting the pta association unanimously passed the reserve

[48:55]policy that i drafted

[48:56]so i felt really proud and happy what is what is the reserve policy it was you know we're going to

[49:02]set aside x number of dollars as a reserve plus 10 for contingencies and then uh that'll be part

[49:08]of the regular budget process we're talking reserves we got a tube in moment oh my god

[49:15]but basically i raised my hand because i'm why do you need why you can't hear me we're on mute

[49:21]why do you need a contingency for your reserves the reserves like the contingency well

[49:26]we set aside don't do this again to me come on no x amount he's not right now they can hear me

[49:32]a specific budget line item and other people felt like well maybe that's not totally enough so maybe

[49:40]we got to have like a little bit more just in case so it was like it was we want to cover these things

[49:44]in the budget line items or these line items but then other people felt like well maybe that's not

[49:49]quite conservative enough so we added a little contingency but i raised my hand after a meeting

[49:53]and said yeah i want to be part of the reserve you know

[49:55]you know

[49:56]steering committee and then i wrote the thing and we defended it and and it passed and i felt

[50:01]proud of myself so aaron was this was this after you and uh your administration fired all the pta

[50:07]members too or not yeah and then there was nobody then you realized then you realized the guy who

[50:13]had the the bank account you needed him so you had to try to hire him back again yeah we said

[50:18]if anyone votes nay you're fired so that was that uh but then yeah i am i am wearing currently a

[50:26]one that you've got aaron i like this idea that you've been inspired to go through and make so

[50:29]many cuts on things i think that's great that you're being just like your heroes slashing

[50:33]slashing burn but yeah i'm wearing this i'm wearing this pittsburgh pirates hat because

[50:37]every year in little league that i've been involved in oakland little league uh north

[50:42]oakland north oakland south oakland little league every team is the a's and that's how it's always

[50:47]been and uh that's not happening anymore uh because the a's are gone so we found out about

[50:53]two weeks ago that

[50:55]we're not going to be able to do that again we're not going to be able to do that again

[50:56]wallace's team is going to be the pirates and can you guess how quickly i jumped online to buy a

[51:02]pirates hat i have always wanted an excuse to wear a pirates hat i've never been a fan i've never had

[51:08]any reason to like chuck d comente like i'm so stoked so i jumped right on it had to get a pirates

[51:15]hat i'm very excited can i say aaron the only thing i'm the only thing i'm sad about is that

[51:20]you didn't get the silver war style pittsburgh pirates hat with the yellow line

[51:26]okay i think you should be thinking about that family hat i believe my brother did send me one

[51:31]uh that was similar with the stars on it and then speaking of we are family my brother also sent me

[51:36]the picture of dave parker with the t-shirt with the uh parliament quote on it that's a fantastic

[51:42]uh i mean the pirates just have so much lore around them but mostly it was because chuck d

[51:46]always wore it i was like i definitely need to wear a pirates hat so i'm very excited about it

[51:50]you coach for a long time your kids played i love i'm glad oakland's out of their air and like kids

[51:56]should grow up with having another team name they should grow up thinking like man i like the pirates

[52:00]because i'm on the pirates like i remember being like into the utah jazz as a kid because i was on

[52:05]the jazz for a couple you should have like a team i was the blue jays when you should have those

[52:09]teams right is it is it is it no longer happening where local businesses are sponsoring teams

[52:14]i'll never forget i was like a proud metcalf mover i was abc plumbing rj riches i'm trying

[52:22]and i use forever when i would drive

[52:26]by like metcalf moving i'd be like fuck yeah we're in this together you know what i mean like i got

[52:30]your ass hey lariat lanes me and mike restovich contributed equally to that football team getting

[52:35]second place in the city championship you know what in apple valley grew up we never had those

[52:41]sponsors we must have had enough reserves in the coffers to not have a big enough sponsorship

[52:46]wow yeah i think for us it's like we get one sponsor for the league and then they get their

[52:53]little patch on there and that pays for all the t-shirts but but i'm still happy to be a part of

[52:56]practice to start next week so i'm excited russ uh rob how's it really going with rob my friend

[53:01]suzanne's father has passed away okay she said you don't have to come to the funeral and i said okay

[53:06]great you know no problem i'm i'm happy to do whatever you want she goes but it is at new

[53:12]york's most exclusive club i was like oh damn damn she said it's at the knickerbocker club

[53:19]where the membership the yearly membership is 50 000 oh okay and there's a suits dress code

[53:26]with dress shoes oh you don't own them do you i'm a sucker for a place with a dress code god i love

[53:32]a dress code do you own a suit that would meet the code though your suits are a little more lively

[53:36]than most people's suits aren't they okay can you wear the one that says cool rob in it you don't

[53:40]think they'd like my pink velour suit that i have with jellyfish on the inside yeah that says cool

[53:44]rob and even though they wouldn't print an emoji of the cool sunglasses guy it does pair well with

[53:48]your cheeto shoes as well that's a good point i now the that is a problem because my only pair of

[53:56]shoes is a 45 degree angle the soles on the outside are worn away so it looks like i am

[54:00]always tripping and falling down but i do you think that's why is that why do you think that's

[54:07]why she gave you the out why she didn't think you could beat the dress code because your suit i gotta

[54:13]say she did say you'd have to wear dress shoes and i was kind of like what the fuck like well

[54:17]do i cheat our shoes count so then i was in the inevitable in enviable position because listen to

[54:26]who have been part of the knickerbockers club fdr theodore roosevelt jp morgan john jacob astor

[54:32]uh william colin bryant like all these famous people i could be there and it put me in the

[54:40]bad position of having to beg to go to somebody's dad's funeral okay i had to ask to go i had to say

[54:48]please please please invite me so we will see what happens i i will say i'm a sucker like if

[54:53]you have some opportunity to like do something like that

[54:56]where it's like an exclusive club or something or somebody's like hey you want to come golf at

[55:00]this country club or whatever and you're like yeah just to say that i did that right yeah of

[55:05]course been there and all that stuff so i'm a sucker for all that stuff and i think that's i

[55:09]think it's i think you got to do it just i mean you know the guy's the guy's dead right so he's

[55:14]not gonna know if you're there or not exactly that's what i'm thinking and i maybe maybe they'll

[55:18]see me and be like sir you need to be part of this exclusive club and i'll be like man i don't

[55:22]really have time well maybe you see some of your your the parents of the kids you teach it's your

[55:26]private school and they're like hey yeah why don't you should come back sometime we'll hang

[55:30]out yeah oh my god that's my dream except for hanging out with other people i don't actually

[55:34]want to do that stuff what's the menu at the like what's the what's what's the thing look like

[55:38]i don't know see that's the thing is that are they gonna be canapes oh my god there might be

[55:42]canapes oh they're definitely gonna be people springing around stuff on trays aaron and that's

[55:47]one of my top three ways i love to eat they have those at school they have those at school all the

[55:56]they just post up oh you guys you know they don't have a thousand percent what are you talking about

[56:01]bro you think there's not an open bar you know my reserves policy as well

[56:05]am i always post up by the door because i'm like i want these things

[56:11]there's not enough woodford what is it woodford yeah that's the reserve that aaron

[56:18]i have a mini list era rob's top four uh places to eat one canapes his favorite style to eat canapes

[56:26]number two yeah on the list he loves to eat in bed when his dad brings him a sandwich number two

[56:32]i do love eating in bed number three on the list is a hotel bed he would never eat in a hotel chair

[56:38]in there and he would never do no way no always in the bed and before number four the exit door

[56:44]of the the way duane reed yes in his basement because that's where he gets his twix or whatever

[56:51]he has well okay the the thing is the garbage can is right outside that door so you do have to open

[56:56]it we get some ice cream in the doorway the wrapper oh my god i do love ice cream in the bath

[57:02]number six stolen items from the store at the airport right outside sweet

[57:07]number seven the delta club he loves the hot dogs in the delta

[57:13]i do love it i think there is something about a club because i do love the delta club

[57:19]yeah i mean you guys know when you're growing up and you went to the country club and you

[57:23]had your parents account number so you get whatever you wanted for lunch we did not know

[57:26]that rob 7-1-1 i still know my parents i can still order at the country club okay well

[57:32]number eight uh a substantive sandwich in the bathroom number eight that's okay

[57:39]bagel in the toilet i was gonna talk about like an exclusive club and being around people that

[57:45]are exclusive i uh this this will take you back when when you guys are zinging i'm i'm

[57:48]what is it gazing you're gazing yeah i uh you know matt's not divorced so he's not out on the

[57:55]prolly up but back when i was you know out dating more i did probably this was the lady who if you

[58:01]guys remember did not was not a fan of me wearing any sort of t-shirt i was i was not allowed to wear

[58:07]t-shirts when i went out with this lady so this didn't last very long i don't remember this story

[58:11]i don't remember this story either wait a minute we have a new russell

[58:14]that would be so good if they were like

[58:24]are we gonna get the

[58:25]fog and the rivets and the smoke oh my god they say to russell no more wearing you can't wear a

[58:31]t-shirt russell goes fuck yeah take this shit off it's time to get it on let's go sorry so so i'd

[58:37]gone i probably went out with this lady five or six times very nice lady and she came from a very

[58:42]well-off background so definitely like outclassing myself or or but maybe rob's probably in this

[58:49]category as a kid but the rest of us i don't think we're do you think they had a milkman but there

[58:53]was two things that jumped out to me that i didn't like about them i didn't like about them i didn't

[58:55]like about them but there was two things that jumped out to me that i thought would be problems

[58:56]one she was a member of a like very highfalutin country club and she was telling me that we should

[59:03]go play tennis there one day and i was like oh that would be fun but then i found out you had

[59:08]to wear all white at this club and i was like i don't think i own any sort of white oh gym clothes

[59:15]that would like work or fit for me and i was like i've got to avoid this at all costs right and and

[59:20]i gotta say this too if you're wearing like white shorts yeah i just think that's a

[59:25]host of problems and i don't want to get into why it's a host of problems yeah it just is i sat in

[59:30]chocolate that'd be the first thing i said i had a junior mint on my car seat and i sat on it

[59:36]that's what was happening the other thing is and we would never even got close to this um talking

[59:42]about uh some people call them nuptials or anything like that but yes she said she was saying if if she

[59:48]ever did go down that route with someone it would have to be at a curator club and it would have to

[59:55]be a black tie for everyone and immediately i was like i don't think i know anyone that would be

[59:59]willing to do a black tie anything let alone me so this has got to be over and out well now you

[60:05]know rob would be into it oh my god i would love to i do a black tie i see you know what i think we

[60:12]should have a wedding that's a black tie anybody know anybody who can get that take care of i think

[60:15]we should get that done agree it'd be so good i would wear the biggest tails i remember that was

[60:19]the thing we do at prom we were trying to decide at prom if we're gonna get tails or not and i'm

[60:25]why was the tux place still selling place things with tails is this where we're talking about the

[60:29]music oh yeah this is where we're talking about the music sorry i'm not talking about how you're

[60:33]a sharp dressed man this this you know what it is a music podcast let's talk about the album

[60:37]i mean he loved deep chicken so it's an homage i found out my new favorite length of an album

[60:46]i thought it was 40 minutes it turns out a 28 minute album even sweeter you got a sweet album

[60:53]you got to avoid the deluxe version of the album you got to avoid the deluxe version of the album

[60:55]versions on spotify or streaming services right tutti frutti he recorded in three takes i think

[61:00]every take is on that deluxe deluxe version goes from 28 minutes to like 70 minutes so you gotta

[61:05]watch that 28 seems like the length of some other compilation type albums of this era right so it

[61:10]must it must hit a sweet spot of like two two minute and 45 second songs or something you'd

[61:14]have to you'd have to come compilation me like nine times to get to 28 it think about

[61:22]i it must be

[61:25]the length of a record right is that what it is like is this what they could put on an lp at the

[61:28]time or something i don't was this an lp i don't actually know you're well this was actually this

[61:33]is actually an album that was legitimately released in 1956 oh wow the first the first

[61:39]six songs in this album were kind of hits of his from 53 or whatever it was and then the last six

[61:45]were new songs that were just on the album so this is not a like a you would think listening to this

[61:49]you think oh this is a greatest hits album like the buddy holly we've heard like the elvis that

[61:54]we've heard but it's a great album and it's a great album and it's a great album and it's a great

[61:55]album it's not this one legitimately came out in 1956 uh and so basically little richard we're

[62:01]talking about little richard he's born in mecca in 1932 who's doing oh my god jenny's still up in

[62:06]the living room she just was talking to alexa that scared the shit out of me you'll never guess what

[62:09]she's talking to alexa about her alarm conversions between pounds and kilograms that is normally what

[62:17]we're asking how is that not second nature by now you've been doing this for years who knows who

[62:24]else is zero no we don't say stuff like not enough for us oh hey convert this well some of us around

[62:33]here talk about not going deep enough but i don't uh listen he's born just like our co-host john

[62:40]one leg is shorter than the other oh wow okay he's got the he's just like john

[62:45]which john by the way admitted to us in vegas that one of his legs is shorter than the other

[62:50]and we were so furious that he never mentioned it on the show it was a very important revelation

[62:54]yeah

[62:54]that was crazy to me and he stood there violation yeah oh no no i'm his doctor no we're not a

[63:01]covered entity so we're fine oh my god oh gross please stop talking about stuff like that here's

[63:07]the thing and by the way when john did say that we all looked at his legs and sure enough he was

[63:11]wearing one shoe that was slightly bigger than the other one it was crazy uh in 1949 little

[63:17]richard's story by the way for how he got into music is crazy he starts playing with it but you

[63:24]people discover him he's playing in something called dr new billows traveling show oh with

[63:30]basically like this medicine man that would travel around the south he's wearing turbans and capes so

[63:36]now little richard started to do the same thing so he's recording and all of a sudden he finds

[63:40]his producer robert bumps blackwell blackwell says hey i think this is going to be our record

[63:45]company's answer to ray charles okay so they go to record some songs the recordings don't do so well

[63:50]so they go and they relax at this this bar and richard then goes to the bar and he's like oh

[63:54]says hey you got to hear this dirty song i made up when i was a janitor at this job

[63:59]okay and he called it's tutti frutti the original through line from little richard to prince right

[64:05]is yeah it's incredibly right away dirty but okay he's like damn this is a really good song

[64:12]it's just too dirty so he has somebody write it immediately it blows up it's huge in the united

[64:16]states it's huge across the ocean uh in britain okay a lot of the blokes over there said hey

[64:21]right oh my it's a great song

[64:22]uh

[64:24]this guy's not a twat like i was talking about earlier before aaron got on how he could say that

[64:28]word if we lived in britain it's gonna give me australian isn't it mate okay i haven't had a lot

[64:35]of accent work lately been doing mostly american bands uh and basically the song goes all the way

[64:40]up to 21 on the bestseller chart now you got to understand this this song is released didn't we

[64:44]do derrick and the dominoes last week okay yes well they're british i'm just saying oh that's

[64:53]right they are british i forgot about that

[64:54]i mean they recorded in miami right so i guess you you were doing your miami accent last week

[65:00]i want you in miami accent hey ma let's see what you're doing oh

[65:05]oh no that was one of the worst attempts i've ever had in my life what the hell was that

[65:11]cherry remember that remember the tom the tom hanks skit rob we're gonna you're gonna be doing

[65:15]one of these oh your own apologies so you're in a bank or something that's fine i don't mind

[65:20]apologizing i want to remind you the top songs in 1955 when we were in the army we were in the army

[65:24]you don't realize how big little richard is till you look at the other songs okay of course we have

[65:29]unchained melody at number five autumn leaves at number four this is the all-time best singles of

[65:35]1955 yellow rose of texas okay okay rock around the clock and of course at number one we've heard

[65:43]this before okay by perez prado oh yeah cherry pink and black will blossom white now imagine

[65:54]this is the number one song in the u.s and all of a sudden you go hey i gotta hear this little

[66:00]richard guy you your mind would be fucking blown it would be like an alien came down and was like

[66:05]this is what music is it's crazy yeah by the way on the top singles list the ballad of davy

[66:12]crockett is on there four times the same fucking song in one year by four different singers each

[66:18]top 100 singles leanne rhymes recorded it and then trisha yearwood recorded the same thing

[66:24]now we're talking we're talking now we're speaking your language um so basically at this point now

[66:31]guys we can talk about little richard's influence or we can talk about his weird sex stuff i'm going

[66:36]to do one first and then the other so which one do you want first do you have do you have the lyrics

[66:41]the dirty tutti frutti lyrics or not we're going to get to that when i get to tutti frutti gotcha

[66:44]all right russell we'll get to that just wait hey stop turn your video back on get back in here

[66:49]come on rob can i wear a t-shirt while you read them or not oh no that's sick i want you to wear

[66:54]only a black tie the sex stuff is sort of important to his lore right this it's kind of

[67:00]we'll do that last we'll do that last basically little richard takes swing and shuffle and then

[67:05]all of a sudden he makes all four beats right it's like he even eights aaron can you explain

[67:09]to me what even eights is as a rhythm i guess it would be like that that that that that that

[67:16]instead of no swing yeah love it driving without swinging and so all of a sudden when you're

[67:24]when you look at the top songs the next couple years right it's all what we think of as rock and

[67:30]roll this was really one of the first this is little richard really started rock and roll and

[67:35]what's crazy is he was cited the two the two singers that cite him as as their real like

[67:41]inspirations otis redding and sam cook yeah imagine being cited by those two guys right

[67:47]right when he was young like sam was on some of those tours when he was young wasn't wasn't otis

[67:53]also from making george's

[67:54]it too or not yeah jimmy hendrix is an early guitar player with him james brown says he

[67:59]basically invented funk when you look at the androgyny that he has think about how that

[68:04]affects people we've already talked about the queen david bowie all these kind of glam rock

[68:07]guys i want you to think about this these people covered little richard songs elvis presley buddy

[68:14]holly bill haley pat boone everly brothers uh jerry lee lewis like all people at the same exact

[68:20]time as him so he's he's getting covered right away and you have this

[68:24]amazing singer who's not only 1950s he's black he's in the south he's gay right and all of a

[68:32]sudden he blows up and he becomes like the face of rock and roll yeah like a man wearing makeup

[68:38]with like hair scarves and then he becomes this massive star it's wild to think about

[68:44]crazy do we know do we know why they call him little richard

[68:47]well man let me tell you little richard now you're talking my language was kind of a swinging dude

[68:55]he loved to watch people bang in fact in his early 20s a female friend would drive him in a car

[69:02]around pick up men have sex with them in the back seat and let little richard watch and he in fact

[69:08]was arrested for it in 1955 guys you got to admit that's pretty awesome you know what i mean like

[69:15]if i had some stuff if i had a female

[69:17]friend who's like hey do you want to watch me have sex with men in the car we can drive around

[69:20]and be like yes i do want to see that 100 i at no time in my life would i have not wanted to see that

[69:25]i'm gonna have to give up birding that sounds way more exciting

[69:29]i mean you might like the jizz of that bird though you got to see what the you got to see

[69:37]what the jizz of a bird is like before you know what what it's all about they have cloacas that's

[69:41]a real birding term oh a jizz of a bird yes what's the jizz of a bird

[69:46]now i gotta look this up look up jim harbaugh jizz oh what no yes i'm not looking up jim harbaugh jizz

[69:54]jizz refers i don't like this and this was purple on my computer already what the hell is my family

[70:00]it's a real thing jizz refers to the entire impression that the observer receives when

[70:05]he's observing an identified unidentified bird in addition to the bird general colorization and

[70:10]behavior of the bird the habitat of the bird will help with its identification so you will identify

[70:15]the jizz of the bird and you're going to be able to identify the jizz of the bird and you're going to

[70:16]be able to identify the jizz of the bird and you're going to be able to identify the jizz of the bird

[70:17]you guys don't have anything to say about the jizz of the bird like aaron what would you say

[70:24]my jizz is right now the general coloration is sort of green and then like we know there's some

[70:30]pink and gray happening my face is really red it's pretty red at the moment yeah and then

[70:35]it's just your behavior is like pretty talkative cool and cool yeah that's your jizz you say

[70:40]provocative talkative oh and cool music podcast

[70:46]now man we're talking about the jizz of a bird you probably don't even know what that is rob i

[70:52]thought you were kind of um shaping your mustache above the lip here you're kind of letting that go

[70:56]oh get into the bathroom yeah get get your jizz together on that get your jizz together

[71:01]your jizz is off with that can i just tell you right now can i be honest with you my jizz is a

[71:08]mess right now okay i was gonna do the little richard mustache tonight i was thinking about

[71:13]it like they're really small nope nope they're really small they're really small they're really

[71:16]small no any sort of mustache carving is bound to go wrong i think white men you cannot you can't

[71:23]i could pull it off now here's what i was thinking about that guy having watching that woman have sex

[71:27]in the car how do you think that works you do you think you're driving and then you turn or you have

[71:33]to turn around like here's my question is it like a model t well yeah it's like in the 50s right so

[71:39]it's like a it's like a think of a car with big we got a rearview mirror do you have oh aaron he's

[71:45]looking in the rearview mirror he's looking in the rearview mirror he's looking in the rearview mirror

[71:46]that's perverted i wasn't even thinking about that gross i was thinking he was on his knees

[71:51]that's more perverted than just watching i'm just thinking the logistics here i was thinking well

[71:56]because you wouldn't want to just sit in the chair facing forward you have to crank your neck you know

[71:58]what i mean like what are you guys doing back there can't you sit on the passenger side

[72:02]but he was probably on his knees

[72:06]thinking about this a little bit uh and then he uh he was uh in 1962 he was arrested at first

[72:14]for spying on men urinating so oh nothing to say there i don't think there's a story in peter

[72:19]gronick's biography of sam cook uh that's called dream boogie about sam being on tour with little

[72:24]richard and little richard was constantly taking notes in his bible and then at some point someone

[72:29]got a hold of the bible and the notes were all about the men that he'd been with and their

[72:34]proclivities and their favorite positions and he was keeping detailed notes on his sexual escapades

[72:40]in his bible i love it i mean the guy i love it he was a horny

[72:44]dude i think it's so great and and listen okay i'm sure spying on men urinating is like a euphemism

[72:51]for getting caught doing gay stuff in a bathroom probably some glory hole stuff or whatever

[72:55]but that could happen to us in vegas we could get arrested and accused of spying on guys in vegas

[73:01]because we're all of us have taken pictures of men going to the bathroom in vegas can we admit to that

[73:06]i don't think russell has actually i've never done it yeah not into that not mad either

[73:10]i got robbed one time

[73:14]yeah you guys are checking out my jizz in the bathroom oh all right let's get into it with

[73:20]tutti frutti

[73:21]that was a drum pattern that he imagined is that like a top first four seconds of a song

[73:33]opening album it might be the top like right like where is music where is pop music without that

[73:38]i mean it's crazy i would guess

[73:41]everybody our age knows that opening now russell the original lyrics as he states were

[73:50]tutti frutti good booty if it don't fit don't force it you can grease it make it easy

[73:56]tutti frutti was originally about anal sex

[73:59]he was dirty i haven't done it yet but i could see why that would be an easy parody song to write

[74:08]i was writing a song about anal sex god there's so many words i mean

[74:11]just think how many things you can write with gloves i mean it's almost

[74:14]maybe he was eating salmon skin you can grease it make it easy

[74:19]the drummer claims the original words were tutti frutti good booty if it's tight it's all right and

[74:26]if it's greasy it makes it easy now that one i'm not as impressed with the writing on that one

[74:31]you know what i mean i'm just i'm trying to figure out how that's gonna fit in here

[74:35]yeah it doesn't feel like that song would have been as complimentary to like a john

[74:39]hughes movie in the 80s as the current version is

[74:41]now i know you guys just want to tell jokes okay but i actually want to get it serious right now

[74:47]what you're gonna see over and over with little richard is how fucked over he got

[74:55]by every basically everybody else who's white of his same time instantly copying his songs

[75:03]now listen to this tutti frutti okay or that version got up to 21

[75:09]in 1921

[75:11]1956

[75:12]a year after that song comes out pat boone releases his version of tutti frutti and it

[75:21]gets all the way up to number 12

[75:23]square this is so bad

[75:30]now this song is going to come up again later on the album

[75:36]but have you ever heard so little soul

[75:39]but

[75:41]this happens over and over and over where white people are taking his songs and just basically

[75:46]saying okay this is a good song i'll take it i'm sure they didn't pay him an app

[75:51]dime for it uh true fine mama listen to this what a voice

[75:55]yeah i thought about this listening to this whole album russell where does

[76:00]we we talked about that list of best singers ever is john lennon ahead of

[76:05]i think he is i think he's way ahead of craziness like this voice is incredible

[76:11]crazy how good this is uh can't believe you want to leave

[76:19]oh jesus

[76:22]i love leaving things i love finding the perfect time to leave i find i love

[76:32]thinking about the perfect people to say goodbye to when i leave

[76:35]you know the you know the perfect people to say goodbye to is who's that nobody that's

[76:41]crazy

[76:45]irish goodbye there's no reason to say goodbye no you got to let everybody know

[76:48]otherwise they're going to wonder i you got are they are they really going to wonder i guess

[76:54]rob left aaron i guess i guess mad left oh no on the 2023 version of the rolling stone

[77:01]it has john lennon 12 and little richard 11 so they do have little richard ahead of me i feel

[77:06]good about that i feel good about that thank you for checking you bet uh it's still ready

[77:11]10 better than him but okay ready teddy now of course this was released i guess aaron doesn't

[77:17]like a wreath of franklin or whitney houston or anything wow right oh sam cook yeah he's great

[77:22]billy holliday oh wow ray charles stevie wonder aaron henderson oh beyonce he's not part of not

[77:30]i wouldn't i i wouldn't put ray charles above little richard oh yeah otis redding he kind of

[77:35]wasn't very good either guys guys guys rob rob's trying to do a show i'm sorry

[77:40]he's trying to move things along when we're trying to do it when we're doing our live show

[77:45]we're going to make shirts that says aaron aaron doesn't think whitney houston is a good singer

[77:49]that's what i make everybody wear oh terrible her first song is coming up on the list soon

[77:54]this song comes out in late 55 guess who sings it on the ed sullivan show in 56 ed sullivan

[78:01]you know it's elements oh wow

[78:04]and i'm telling you all these versions pale in comparison to the little

[78:10]this is kind of fun it's fun it's just not quite

[78:16]like we we touched on when we talked about all this but it's just so

[78:21]apparent with little richard little richard baby i forgot to erase his name off all these songs

[78:26]that's why i keep saying his name don't you need a man like me these don't sound like they

[78:32]they sound like they must have been recorded over a number of years right sometimes

[78:37]i mean like i think

[78:40]it's a compilation

[78:43]they sound like a true album no the first six are the first six are a compilation the last six are

[78:48]made for this album okay yeah because like this sounds i guess it couldn't be that much younger

[78:55]so starting at number seven that's side two that's what you're saying okay slipping in a slide and

[79:01]peeping in a hiding song watching men in the urinals i feel like this is a top 500 album

[79:07]without little richard even singing if it's just the key

[79:10]this is so fun to listen to yeah it's fun

[79:17]you guys have a slip and slide growing up oh yeah we were a wet banana family rob wow

[79:26]so good man was it was the wet banana the one with the sled like you had an inflatable sled

[79:32]you could use or was that the uh ours was it was the yellow slip and slide and then i think

[79:37]there was something down at the end where maybe you'd go into like a pool or something at the

[79:40]end we always had the slip and slide and my dad would put a tarp down at the end for like a little

[79:45]extra i'll tell you what guys there's a reason a slip inside is not made from tarp we would come

[79:50]back in and our skin would just be shredded we had a neighbor that was the tarp family that

[79:55]like had a couple tarps out it was always fun but it was definitely not the same as the slip and

[80:00]slide there's no way to realize how many rocks were in your lawn than to get on a slip and slide

[80:04]it turns out your lawn has quite a few little pebbles you didn't realize over there matt do

[80:08]kids do slip and slides anymore or not oh yeah all the time yep i just buy the cheap ones because

[80:14]they break pretty easily but at the lakes uh there's some pretty good hills going into the

[80:20]lake and sarah's cousins have gotten some pretty good that's nice straight now man when you're doing

[80:25]this you're doing a slip and slide at home you ever worried about that lawn getting eaten up

[80:30]uh there was a there was a good guy named uh killabrew who said that we're

[80:38]raising kids not raising grass so i i like that i like that saying a lot the grass can come back

[80:45]i wish you would have talked about that to my dad because one day i took my big wheel out back and

[80:49]turned the sprinkler on shredded the grass in the mud it i think i was six it never grew back

[80:55]it still has not grown back back there i destroyed my dad's lawn

[80:58]we've got we got one year we were supposed to have i think it was like a coveted you're supposed to

[81:03]have like a birthday party or something like that and something didn't come through or something got

[81:07]broke so we just went to we were supposed to have like a birthday party or something like that and

[81:08]we just went to we were supposed to have like a birthday party or something like that and

[81:08]we just went to we were supposed to have like a birthday party or something like that and

[81:09]costco or whatever bought like a water slide literally eddie just had friends come over and

[81:14]bought like a water slide literally eddie just had friends come over and

[81:14]bought like a water slide literally eddie just had friends come over and going like a

[81:14]going like a

[81:14]going like a like a blow-up like one of those blow-up

[81:17]like a blow-up like one of those blow-up

[81:17]like a blow-up like one of those blow-up water slides and some slipping he just

[81:18]water slides and some slipping he just

[81:18]water slides and some slipping he just wanted kids in the backyard and have

[81:20]wanted kids in the backyard and have

[81:20]wanted kids in the backyard and have popsicles and

[81:21]popsicles and

[81:21]popsicles and water spots so we saw that so that fills

[81:23]water spots so we saw that so that fills up a pool

[81:25]up a pool

[81:25]up a pool now i do take that buck i take the water

[81:27]now i do take that buck i take the water

[81:27]now i do take that buck i take the water out of that

[81:28]out of that

[81:28]out of that out of that pool because it's constantly

[81:29]out of that pool because it's constantly

[81:29]out of that pool because it's constantly running right yeah i do water by lawn

[81:32]running right yeah i do water by lawn

[81:32]running right yeah i do water by lawn with uh

[81:33]with uh

[81:33]with uh that water you don't want that water to

[81:35]that water you don't want that water to

[81:35]that water you don't want that water to waste that water that's just smart yeah

[81:38]waste that water that's just smart yeah

[81:38]waste that water that's just smart yeah yeah plus nobody's going to the bathroom

[81:40]yeah plus nobody's going to the bathroom

[81:40]yeah plus nobody's going to the bathroom in there so you know it's you know it's

[81:41]in there so you know it's you know it's

[81:41]in there so you know it's you know it's not it doesn't have any fertilizer for

[81:43]not it doesn't have any fertilizer for

[81:43]not it doesn't have any fertilizer for your lawn in there you know it dilutes

[81:44]your lawn in there you know it dilutes

[81:44]your lawn in there you know it dilutes matt's over there like just popping

[81:46]matt's over there like just popping

[81:46]matt's over there like just popping almond after almond in his mouth while

[81:48]almond after almond in his mouth while

[81:48]almond after almond in his mouth while he

[81:50]he

[81:50]he oh no you gotta drink the almond milk

[81:53]oh no you gotta drink the almond milk

[81:53]oh no you gotta drink the almond milk after pat boone

[81:55]after pat boone

[81:55]after pat boone after pat boone covered tutti frutti

[81:58]covered tutti frutti he then said i want to make a song

[82:00]he then said i want to make a song

[82:00]he then said i want to make a song that's so fast that pat boone can't

[82:02]that's so fast that pat boone can't

[82:02]that's so fast that pat boone can't possibly cover it

[82:04]possibly cover it

[82:04]possibly cover it and so he wrote long tall sally

[82:07]and so he wrote long tall sally

[82:07]and so he wrote long tall sally original title of the song

[82:10]original title of the song

[82:10]original title of the song the thing

[82:13]the thing

[82:13]the thing okay one point of criticism here

[82:16]okay one point of criticism here

[82:16]okay one point of criticism here this is a chuck berry thing take away

[82:18]this is a chuck berry thing take away

[82:18]this is a chuck berry thing take away the lyrics and this is the same song

[82:21]the lyrics and this is the same song

[82:21]the lyrics and this is the same song as too fruity is it not

[82:28]pretty close it sounds the same wait a

[82:30]pretty close it sounds the same wait a

[82:30]pretty close it sounds the same wait a minute

[82:35]okay now we're gonna listen to the thing

[82:38]okay now we're gonna listen to the thing

[82:38]okay now we're gonna listen to the thing gonna tell and mary

[82:41]give it a second

[82:48]i gotta admit if this was a concert you

[82:50]i gotta admit if this was a concert you

[82:50]i gotta admit if this was a concert you could not put those two songs next to

[82:51]could not put those two songs next to

[82:51]each other because you yeah yeah i was in the bathroom but they seem to be playing the same

[82:55]don't get me wrong i'm not i'm not hating on it it's amazing that's what puts this album in the

[83:00]230s is you know this music's super important but it does get a little samey as you go through the

[83:05]thing i love the middle fingers to say fuck you i'm just gonna play this faster than you you're

[83:12]not very good stop stealing my shit yeah i am with you miss anne it's like it's like back last

[83:20]week when the three of us made all those amazing jokes and rob was too sick to keep up yeah yeah

[83:26]he couldn't do it that happened in jazz too there was a movement in jazz like uh with our blakey

[83:31]and others where as west coast jazz was getting the whiter uh black artists were like we gotta

[83:36]play stuff that the white artists can't play so we can keep ours oh why i was watching guys

[83:49]p you know what though i could see where i could get horny enough where if i was into it i'd be

[83:56]watching guys p that'd be like the lowest of the low but i could see it happening that song was

[84:00]basically like a blues song right yeah i think so a little bit of you know i i just i i heard like

[84:07]a i don't know i couldn't name any blues artists but that just sounded like a blues song i think

[84:13]you're right it was brought forward yeah yeah i think you're right i don't know a lot like fat's

[84:16]domino to me uh this was released i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know

[84:19]now listen to this this is how big little richard is this is released in june i'm big

[84:25]little richard and i'm little little why do they call me oh my god little little richard has a

[84:32]high voice but he's he's twice as tall as big little richard and they're coming out and they're

[84:38]gonna face so many richard smash and axe they usually go by axe and smash they if you want

[84:44]to flip those please oh no i gotta rewrite my christmas card

[84:49]oh shit and if you remember they also added crush in the later years

[84:54]no nobody remembers that russell yeah brian adams i think crush helped them helped everything i do

[85:00]i'll tell you guys you know what i've been jonesing for lately

[85:04]short episodes purple crush oh short episodes oh not short episodes

[85:12]uh he releases rip it up in june of 56.

[85:19]corvus and bill haley both released singles of this song on their own also in 1956 in the next

[85:26]six months this song fucking rips

[85:30]i mean this is so good this is the classic the saturday night i just got paid i'm gonna find a

[85:44]woman who's built for speed a different uh guitar like that's that's like the corvus knight in the

[85:49]squire

[85:49]sound that jimmy hendrix played that for the guitar

[85:51]so actually you guys the guitar is kind of playing the piano part there sorry russell

[86:05]oh i was gonna say there's another person who loved to rip it up and that's jeff beck

[86:10]rob if you want to pull up the song slingshot i want to hear if you guys can hear little richard

[86:15]in this

[86:19]you hear him right yeah i could hear that okay you guys may not hear it the reason

[86:31]you guys are acting like you do is because we're trying to go along with your bit here

[86:37]jeff beck's guitar was named little richard oh his white fender stratocaster he got changed to

[86:43]a surf green stratocaster that he played for many years which he called little richard

[86:49]so when it comes to playing little richard who did it better

[86:54]jeff beck did it better russell but you literally can hear a little

[87:01]little richer in here right like it's just that driving that's up the front i think so

[87:05]i mean compare that to if little richard didn't exist this is what jeff beck's guitar would have

[87:11]sounded like you know what i mean our podcast would be ripping it up if we were playing this

[87:17]on a weekly basis oh my god

[87:19]every time we play this i mean to make fun of it and it's pretty damn good

[87:23]i every time you play it i think i should listen to this more often this would be nice music to

[87:26]have in the house

[87:27]burb albert and yeah marshmallow delights

[87:34]marshmallow delights that sounds good to me next up uh jenny jenny you had to play this

[87:42]song for your wife this week right bro no but i will

[87:47]i think when she tries to tell me what to do i might escalate this have you made love to this

[87:53]i don't know how long is this too fast for the white guys

[87:58]not anymore i do jujitsu i'm telling you my abs right now are so strong

[88:06]i'm like a i'm like a pneumatic hammer i'm guessing they're stronger i'm guessing they're

[88:12]stronger than we give you credit for my abs are i mean i'm like a pneumatic hammer i'm like a pneumatic hammer

[88:17]i've got abs and then i can like i don't want to explain what i do with my legs

[88:21]they're so strong where they don't cramp up and i have to stop and say sorry i sweated on you

[88:28]you know what i mean they don't cramp up anymore uh and then she's got it

[88:35]originally called i got it but then it was in the movie uh girl can't help it

[88:40]which i guess is a famous movie oh college vibe album rob or no

[88:44]oh baby she's got it

[88:47]listen i think if you're playing this like in college this album

[88:51]i it's too old it's too old it's too old it's the kind of guy who's wearing like a boulder hat

[88:58]calling every bowler hat calling everybody walks by your dorm and says oh that sounds about right

[89:02]that he's playing a little bit yeah yeah i mean if i was making love to an older woman that worked

[89:07]at a mcdonald's maybe i would play this song i was thinking maybe it's more of a great con thing

[89:11]but now it's a little too raucous for them oh oh true they'd be like hey i

[89:17]tried to listen to perez prado over here okay please stop playing that song let's get into the

[89:22]radio i think aaron that was my first experience in life where i couldn't wear t-shirts and i

[89:27]bailed on that shit i'm telling you great con the brochure they sent us oh being the great

[89:35]con program in college sounds incredible which was a specialized program they're like you want

[89:39]to be and they look like the fucking coolest people they were fucking i'll never forget

[89:43]they were whitewater rafting in the brochure

[89:47]like fuck i want to be whitewater rafting well it turns out that this was literally and i mean

[89:53]no offense by this the biggest fucking nerds okay and they would tell you the same thing

[89:59]okay multiple guys wearing trench coats everywhere they were in great con multiple men

[90:05]everybody had transition less lenses all the transition lenses were in great con

[90:11]when you say the biggest nerds you're talking about some physically very large nerds like

[90:17]some of the literal biggest nerds i've ever seen in my life like seven foot nerds like

[90:22]these were big people yep climbing trees yeah yeah wearing capes like if bigfoot was really

[90:29]into steam warping that's what i mean it was crazy it could have easily been me you go there

[90:35]and all of a sudden you're do we know anybody that was in great con and had to drop out

[90:38]ruffle i i i never i dropped out before it started i was signed up for it in the summer

[90:43]before we started and got out of it like a month before

[90:47]it did seem like so something do you think just knowing that group of people

[90:51]that they had an orgy right like you know what i mean you could have guessed

[90:56]the next word out of that one dorm is gonna be orgy there's that one dorm down at the end that

[91:01]none of us like we went in i bet i went in a long time yeah you know that those nerdy english majors

[91:08]were having orgies and i got two words for those orgies pubic hair i bet the pubic hair that orgies

[91:14]were insane

[91:17]so you had two words for you it's wild you can just see from around james he's gonna say the

[91:23]word orgy i mean if i was bird watching at that this is number okay and i know what it is i don't

[91:30]have to look 227 on the list all right it's little richard it's a classic okay but it doesn't have

[91:38]run run reindeer on it which of course is his best song as we all know run rudolph

[91:43]whatever it was that's one thing little richard didn't have a

[91:47]christmas song did he i think he really missed out there i would love a little richard christmas song

[91:51]there's gotta be there's gotta be a little

[91:54]here's the thing okay uh is we don't care about the music we care about the list do we think this

[92:10]is appropriate at 227 originally first list came out this was album was number 50 higher on the

[92:15]list okay

[92:17]why is it now all the way up to 227 does rolling stone know something we don't know

[92:21]okay but he also didn't talk as much about aaron

[92:26]i'm having sex in the back of the car and you're in the front seat you looking back or you're just

[92:32]using the mirror using the mirror you wouldn't see the whole thing you wouldn't see my whole jizz

[92:37]if this is at at 227 okay this gets if it's perfect at 227 it's a rolling

[92:47]i can't remember it's a rolling well tone if this should be higher up on the list which of course is

[92:52]a lower number 226 225 okay uh then it would be a rolling bone it should have been higher up in the

[92:58]list or does this get a rolling groan okay what's that coming from the back seat of my car so

[93:07]strange i don't i was just driving around aaron i would turn around i would get on my knees and

[93:13]watch you i would i wouldn't want to miss a thing while you're driving to quote you'd be

[93:16]the quote i'd be driving i'd be driving with my feet but we kind of do drive with our feet if you

[93:22]think about it if you're a dog hey there's nothing in the rule book that says a dog can't drive while

[93:28]i fuck somebody in the back seat straw have one home too if you're a cheetah if it's higher on

[93:33]the list rhode island is neither a road nor an island it would be a rolling hey round can i um

[93:40]what just call you on some shit

[93:42]i i uh we gotta go

[93:46]brussels i was trying i've been thinking for like the last half hour i remember seeing like

[93:51]little richard in a movie or a tv show or something but i couldn't figure and i was

[93:55]looking at his imdb i'm looking through everything i've never seen any of this

[93:57]i know what it is but he was on christmas at peewee's playhouse whoa he does have a

[94:05]special rob it was with peewee so i got two words for you pubic hair there you go

[94:13]yes you know peewee

[94:16]herman had some funny ass pubic hair oh you know he did like a little square or something

[94:21]that's kind of great like that's two great all-time great pervs in one

[94:26]it's true that's i don't even know one guy i mean one guy just went to a movie theater just

[94:33]i guess that's not so weird can i ask you guys an honest violated other people's yeah that's true

[94:38]i'm gonna do this once every 250 episodes but you guys have to answer this okay legally you have to

[94:45]answer this

[94:46]russell that counts as a contract right how would you initiate oral sex

[94:50]okay no gross here we don't have to answer that do you guys think you could get hard in a theater

[94:56]in public i don't think i could even if it's a porn theater i mean like if the lights are off

[95:01]yeah and i was like okay it's time to jerk off i don't know if i could even like

[95:05]in a theater you think you could erin you're giving me the look like you definitely well

[95:09]i've never jerked off but like you've never oh erin it's great you gotta try

[95:13]all right

[95:16]listen

[95:16]russell you want to okay i'm getting the vibe that russell does not want to talk about that

[95:21]i'm watching the i'm watching little richard on the peewee christmas special

[95:26]okay well you see you're getting all over that now picture what peewee's pubic hair looks like

[95:30]pretty funny isn't it all right rolling well-toned rolling bone or rolling grown

[95:35]two seven 227 matt what do you think rolling well-toned this is perfect right where it's at

[95:42]russell what do you think let's say rolling boned i feel like he's too influential like how many

[95:48]artists in the world of rock and roll are more influential and more important to to the genre

[95:53]than this guy so the only thing i could say is maybe if part of those are you know replays of

[95:57]you know previous hits but i think it's got to be higher on the list he's too influential

[96:03]um rolling bone should be higher erin what do you think rolling well-toned rolling bone or

[96:09]rolling grown i can't disagree with either matt or russell

[96:12]i might lean a little more toward the rolling boned because it is really fun to listen to and

[96:17]he is very important uh i think it's more fun to listen to than some of the stuff we heard before

[96:22]it but i'd also be fine with it where it is glad he's on the list it was fun to listen to so i'm

[96:26]gonna go with a slight rolling bone unfortunately you guys are incorrect what this gets a rolling

[96:34]origination erection okay even growing up all i heard about early rock and roll elvis elvis elvis

[96:41]maybe a little bit

[96:42]haley but elvis elvis elvis elvis bale haley's bale haley bale haley yeah that was the guy he was

[96:48]it was it was bill haley's roommate who was on an airplane you'll never guess what he had to do

[96:54]because it almost flipped upside down uh here's the thing we think about elvis but this is the

[96:59]guy that started almost everything with rock and roll right the beat the fast pace songs about

[97:03]women yelling looking like a star unclear lyrics dancing around driving around with a woman and

[97:08]watching her have sex in the backseat of a car i mean this is rock and roll like crazy

[97:12]i mean elvis used to be high on pills and pull people over in a car meanwhile

[97:17]little richard is driving up hills watching people get pulled in the back of his car

[97:22]it's pretty good i feel like that i feel like that rob what a shirt rob what that joke deserves a

[97:28]whoa what's that coming from my back seat

[97:34]oh

[97:40]hey man we gotta end the episode please don't push those buttons anymore all right next up

[97:44]we've we have an album that unfortunately doesn't have anything to do with driving

[97:49]around with a woman in the car and watching her have sex with men it's the de la soul is dead by

[97:54]de la soul when you want to hear about the greatest albums of all time

[98:00]but you're just too lazy russell think of how good

[98:04]going to the drive-thru would be after that though what you want me rob we gotta land the plane

[98:10]we got another episode to record blimey i've got eight tell you what i'm getting six piece

[98:15]chicken mcnuggets for the sprite did it better that's nice right yeah watching my friend have

[98:21]sex in the backseat of a car right feels like they're right kind of spicy and it'd be splendid

[98:25]if they could serve it to you on a can of pay right rob that's one of my top 10 ways of eating

[98:31]which you guys knew all of

[98:32]ironically olive's not one of them

[98:37]hey

[98:40]i might have some inside info it might be a fish skin for you coming up in the next few weeks though
