Frank Sinatra: Into the Wee Hours of the Morning (1955) ep. 282 (with special Guest MagicMike69)

Beck Did It Better Podcast 1955
About this episodeRuss is on load management so we have very special guest, Magic Mike 69 to talk about Frank Sinatra, his phrasing, and the first concept album ever. It's basically like when adult stars have sex with their fans except it would be like our fans are better at having sex on camera.  Think about it.  We talk what (not) to say to your daughter's prom dates, adult social anxiety, Beck being on tour, and Mike's piano journey. Then we get into old blue eyes as he pretends to be sad (we know the reason he is not) and then we have two seperate lists!  Don't be like cave divers and just stop and give

[0:00]Do you ever look do you ever look at mike's eyes and just Like feel like he's just like all the time why the hell am i here why the hell am i here like This sounded like a good idea but now i'm gonna waste another hour and a half of my life with These clowns yep i i told him i wanted to do this album and then it turns out it's a friday night at You know whenever at least mike responds to us when we say we're gonna get on there we're Still waiting for air in there no actually i think this was the perfect friday i'm gonna Get into it in the podcast but there's all right there's some kismet i think with this album and Something that happened today oh wow oh well if you had something happened to you from this well It wasn't something that happened it wasn't something that happened to me in particular It was a pop cultural thing that happened this this album i tried To lift weights to today and i was just like whoa this is a tough one to lift weights to Yeah i feel like you guys listen to these albums at the wrong time of day sometimes That was the same thing that happened with wish you were here i'm like wish you were here you Have to listen to it at 11 o'clock

[1:00]At night that's when you listen to wish you were here matt i think we should do like a 9 a.m Recording one day we should roll out of bed and record and just see how it goes see what it feels Like i'd be all for it especially with the cabin i know we gotta just convince one person To make that work okay but he can't hear us right now because he's not in that podcast yet all right So what's the is russ still suspended is he not coming this week no russ has told me That he is declining to come today okay he did not he he says that i now listen russ please come Back okay i'm looking right at the camera i'm begging you right now please come back okay i Didn't mean to text you this okay i kept texting them stuff and it was like you know look how big It is look how small it is look how hot it gets you know stuff like that like with a laser Thermometer you guys know what i'm talking about okay but he said stop and so now he's not Coming on the podcast so instead we have well let's just face it it's phil and russ right it's

[2:00]Russ with a bunch of music knowledge okay we've got magic mike we're not quite to The official intros but we are going to fill it up with time magic mike why on earth did you Want to come back on this podcast what is your problem i mean what else do i have to do on friday Night right like that's true that's a good point for all of us for sure magic have you listened to All of I mean you're like from at least from episode 10 on but like have you listened to all of the Episodes or do you skip a few oh no i've listened to all of them yeah like i think i cut What's going well recently what's going bad recently what can we improve as being like i Just i just want to tell you right now i don't like this i don't take feedback very well this Is not that's why i wanted to do i am not happy to hear about magic mike 69 he's been around i Mean since emerson and only the real people know what emerson that's true is all about that's 100 True okay Mike what are we doing better lately what are we what do we need to work on like i feel like

[3:00]I mean nothing really it's it's always just i mean this is bad it's like hit or miss right like Some weeks i'm like all right it was good another week so i'm like that was a really funny episode I only feel one of those every time we get done recording i'll tell you that right now I will say and i with russ gone it there has been a weird dynamic i've noticed the weird Dynamic with russ not here it it it really is isn't it like i didn't know i didn't know i didn't know I didn't think russ brought much to the podcast to be honest with you except for telling me not to Do stuff and saying i need to edit stuff out and saying stuff like oh no what the fuck should do That what the fuck you know especially since he stopped making drinks i feel like maybe but There is something where he is some sort of force that like holds us together it really is like the Weak nuclear force look it up well and i think also just the fact that he's coming at it From i mean he's obviously not like you know he has his music knowledge that he grew up with or Whatever but he's coming out as sort of somebody that doesn't know what he's doing and he's not Outside of that and so it's always interesting to hear sort of the outsider's perspective a

[4:00]Little bit so mike you're you're you're you're you're your advice to us is basically have Russ back that's your advice bring him out of suspension okay you know pay the fine whatever It is that you have to do okay he's well like i said this week he is not coming back because of Some of the things i texted him aaron knows pictures bigger longer i have to give russell The keys to rob's cock cage back that's the deal then he won't and then he can come back on the Show This cage is too roomy you know what i mean like i can run laps in this cage i want like a Guantanamo style cage here and where the cock is kind of hunched over the whole time you know We're blasting like bay and halen for it or whatever why the cock cage jokes what you get my Cock in a little pyramid you get a cock you put a little cone on me what was that picture about by The way where they put the cone on the person's head that one i was kind of like they're just Being rude at this point you know what i mean like they had a cone they took a picture very bad Imagine that but it's my cock aaron what's Just like just a full-on just main line of the internet into your brain all the time what's the

[5:00]Longest you've been gone without looking at the internet since 1998 listen i'll have you know That on tiktok i do have a limit of 30 minutes a day okay and when that's done i have to push a Button that says ignore limit for rest of day like hell yeah that's just me like choosing like Hey am i gonna have a shitty day you know i am ignore limit for rest of day okay everything in My life is gonna take longer because i'm watching tiktoks aaron i am watching tiktoks now when i'm Walking the dog okay that's bad but i'll tell you what if you are not on tiktok right now you Are missing out because we are having a great revolution of tiktok right now and that is Europeans coming over to the united states for the world cup okay there's some good reddit pages Too there are they are eating 7-eleven slurpees they are going to waffle house and they are Finding that the united states as we all know the united states is absolutely positively god Damn it where is it there it is Europeans coming over to the waffle house having slurpees eating cool ranch chips literally they're

[6:00]Like looking at the different kinds of mountain dew they have the different kinds of mountain Dew is blowing the european mind they cannot imagine that we have so many varietals of Mountain dew mike what's your favorite american kind of trash food like you're on a road trip What are we stopping and getting well i was gonna just ask you have you tried the dirty Mountain dew i have i did try the dirty mountain dew and it's listen the mormons are Trying to trick us with this i know what i mean they are trying to get us into getting into their Dirty soda culture and guess what i'm all for it more milk and stuff more cream you know i love it Clean that shit out let's go your costume my culture is not your costume rob you know i was Raised mormon right i do know that but i was showing you that i know where the dirty soda Phrase comes from okay i'm coming in of course i remember that i might i remember conversations We have i'm locking that down okay but am i right or wrong That's where it comes from oh that's for sure where it comes from yeah see thank you

[7:00]No i actually i don't like the i haven't liked the mountain dew and the one i do like Is the creamer that came out last year and i'm trying to remember who did it was one of the The main creamer companies that came out with like a dirty creamer for specifically for soda Now of course dirty creamer was my nickname sophomore year of college but what Exactly is a dirty creamer mike okay please remind me it's like you know like a coconut base Creamer and you're just supposed to put it in soda instead of coffee oh my god guys if this doesn't Make us excited for america's birthday i don't know what will okay we're adding cream to drinks Now we're just like hey drinks aren't bad enough for us what could we add oh i know cream let's Add some more cream to that oh aaron what do you think dirty sodas you on board or what i've never Tried one but so this looks like you can buy a pre-made one but i thought that i thought this Was like i thought this was a thing you had to do at home like a diy thing

[8:00]It was and now it's getting out in these streets aaron okay picture this mountain dew uh-oh You spilled some milk in it guess what is that gonna go to waste i don't think so you gotta Drink it but it's not it's not just milk it's like a it's a coconut milk it's not just you're Spitting your life oh i mean i would try that i would try a mountain with coconut milk in it i Like the i like where this is going one of my first girlfriends was on roosevelt island the Other day okay i saw a picture of her on the tram coming over the other day and i was like oh my god This is a picture of her on the tram coming over which put me in an awkward position okay do you Message him you know what i mean like do you send him a message saying hey you're on roosevelt island I live here damn no okay never mind answer my own question was it a story or a picture it was A story oh so then she's gonna know you saw it and then she's gonna know you didn't respond that's True so what i did is i just messaged her like i waited 10 minutes and messaged her i was like okay It's too late for us to meet up plus the other thing is i did text my friend and i texted her

[9:00]Family and i said hey my ex-girlfriend is currently on the island okay so my kids would Know they could look around any woman you see could have been made out with me in my basement So you so for us you refer to her as one of my first girlfriends which i think one of the other Of your first girlfriends is not your last girlfriend but you say one of my first girlfriends You would when you say to your family you just say my ex-girlfriend what's the i do say my Ex-girlfriend yeah okay now i am gonna say this i don't think she would agree That she at any point was my girlfriend oh okay that's a lot of layers to that yeah i don't Think i think maybe that was more of like a one-way thing one of my many failures dating Aaron what's your biggest failure dating would you say why do you this comes up like once a year And i say like i only had i don't have any failures but i had yeah no no failures But you know you guys know why you guys know my sophomore year we we talked about this my Sophomore year of high school girls ask guys to the day

[10:00]Story and she asked me to the dance and then i turned around during the last slow dance and She's kissing her ex-boyfriend and i'm one of her first boyfriends she was making out on the Dance floor we've discussed and then you pulled up a chair and you're like this is what I like i was like well i guess and like i don't know how to get a ride home i guess i better Figure this out because this was my ride i'll just sit in the back That might actually have happened i honestly i might have got a ride home with her you know What Don't even blame you he drive them home wasn't that the deal like oh my god i don't remember Nothing about it was good wow hey wow i really need to turn up the defroster it's getting so Steamy in here hey you guys aren't responding to me it's so strange all right in 2020 four Friends decided to listen to every one of the greatest 500 albums decided by rolling stone Magazine this resulted in a text chain that celebrated the music excoriated the music Screwed it up guys celebrated the music excoriated the order and led us to making this

[11:00]Podcast we are far from experts we promise to do almost no research all opinions are our own Unless you disagree please sit back and enjoy beck did it better we are all the way up to album 282 Okay and in ninth from 1955 we have an album that's so old how old is it wow guys this is a Podcast we're supposed to be responding to it came out 13 days after the polio vaccine That's not a joke can you imagine though what a fortnight Somebody had you know what i mean like oh man i can go swimming again and i got this great frankston Natural album this is great okay and it was three months before disneyland so somebody had a great Like third of a year you know what i mean like they were just like hey right in there In the pocket go swimming i can see this new thing called a small world after all Okay that's a bit of science knowledge i didn't know i did not know that polio was spread at

[12:00]Swimming pools well it's that was the rumor i should say which was always a bummer because Really the way it's spread of course aaron say with me fecal oral contamination which you know When you think about swimming pools i think that there's a that's that seems like there's that's That's what it is yeah it's literally a fine line in there okay i'll i'll say it again go to a pool Go to the men's bathroom empty okay almost like nobody's ever been there so listen science Lessons let's just go let's just go right to the radio today guys we got a little change up Okay we're going we're going kind of easy Listening k-rob style all right don't look at the title of the song welcome everybody To k-rob after dark the classy side of k-rob oh yeah aaron jacks off to women's shoes Yeah he loves to see those toes he doesn't know if the hottest part is the arch or ankles

[13:00]He's not at the beach For the sand so why is he there binoculars in hand well he's not joking around yeah this guy Really loves feet he once put a chair right next to some wet concrete Just like the church He's looking for good souls okay all right yeah his favorite food is tummy Tomatoes just realized today i'm once again on the late side of getting my knives sharpened

[14:00]It's almost tomato season and my knives aren't sharp enough i gotta find somebody to take care Of that where do you go again you gotta you got a nice shop in town i had a guy who would pick Him up from your house i used to go to his house and he was like i'm gonna go to his house and i'm Gonna go to his house and i'm gonna go to his house and i'm gonna go to his house and i'm gonna Go to his house and i'm gonna go to his house and i'm gonna go to his house and i'm gonna Dm him on instagram but he's closed now so i gotta find another have you thought about Getting your own knife sharpening like amazon or something like that i've yes well i took a class And i have a wet stone but i only have a 1000 grit wet stone excuse me like the Aaron you have a what kind of stone a 1000 grit wet stone i thought you would say well Headstone and that's kind of like the all-purpose so i don't like you would need 6 000 to really refine your blade you might need 500 if you gotta really put it you know So i yeah and it turns out i wasn't actually good at it so i now i have i hired out so so aaron Was this class would you say it's a great place to meet women what why you always say that It's just as though you forget that i've been married for almost 20 years i'm oh i'm just asking

[15:00]You what did the guys look like at the knife sharpening class aaron did they have Big thick glasses yes or no worse haircuts and more tattoos like what do you think they look like More Tattoos yeah like because they were on their hands where was said class held at was it like In a restaurant or something it was it it was at a knife shop in san francisco and it was like Mostly it was mostly restaurant industry folks and me and then they sharpened Your knife while you were there while you took the class it was very cool wow i mean what i mean That's why would they sharpen the knife that's the whole goal you know what i mean well because If you go in there and you screw it up they're gonna help you fix it you know oh I because they could do it in 20 minutes or less or whatever and just i was gonna ask is it byo n Bring your own no it's not bad okay moving on listen we don't have more time to talk about That and on the side of the helmet for knowledge no no we're moving on erring to sharp i just Picture aaron sharpening his knives and then putting him in his car and he gets out his

[16:00]Seats are just cut up to shit and he's like oh god dang it that actually isn't no that's a Legitimately hard thing to do is like if you're going to a knife sharpening class you need to Bring your knives with you need to bring your knives with you need to bring your knives with You yeah i'm pretty sure i took public i know i would have taken public transportation into the City i didn't have any kind of thing i just wrapped him in a you're like shredder you got The blades yeah i just wrapped in a towel like in a backpack or whatever well you don't have Like the leather you don't have like the leather unrolling pouch i don't know see that's what i Need but i only have three knives aaron can you take your headphones off real quick you got it They're off rob what is there anybody that misses Russ being on the podcast more than aaron right now no russ Russ would fully support going to a knife sharpening class i just say it in general i Think i think rosie misses russ yeah we need to get him back on soon i miss russell every day Aaron now aaron this was it true that you were late for your knife sharpening class and so you

[17:00]Were running through the mall really quickly with your two knives just really Booking it all right now listen can i just tell you guys something and i know this is a safe space I wrote that parody song and it started off like yourself i was expecting a huge pop when i said oh This is the serious side of k-rob and i got absolutely no response you know what i just Gotta keep trying i gotta keep firing i mean given my takeaway all the songs on this album Are hard as shit to sing and i wanted to hear you sing along with any of these no i was really Hoping to hear you stretch yourself to sing along with any of these songs so you cannot imagine my Disappointment today at the weight room when i was listening to this album and i was scrolling down Looking at the music and i was like oh my god i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die i'm gonna die For what song i was gonna parody and i was like oh there's none of them have any symbol Next to them on amazon these are tough to sing along with they and i'll tell you too i'm Being honest it's it was i was it's fun though to hear him sing like even though yeah that song Like you realize like oh this guy has the goes to his limits insane confidence to sing that song

[18:00]You're starting with no notes and you're starting in the band's meeting you god that would be tough I mean listen again getting into the album i'd have that kind of confidence If that kind of muscle was behind me my whole life too i've got three guys here untouchable We want to talk about frank sinatra and into the wee hours of course which is an ironic name Because we all know one true thing about frank sinatra he had a huge hog okay that's one thing We are going to be touching on okay his wife said once in ava gardner he said he's 119 pounds and 19 pounds of that is cock that's an actual quote can you imagine how awesome you're going to be Your life would be no wonder you're confidently singing when you're 19 pounds cock oh my god okay Bye can you imagine aaron what unit do you think my wife would use if i asked her to weigh my penis You know what i mean kilograms obviously you guys are metric people i think it would start With milla aaron okay i think it would be billy i think it's a problem listen i've got man

[19:00]Minneapolis matt how are you doing tonight good rob in the garage i feel safe no one cares About my ways wow you want Weezer to come real bad i got mike are we going backwards by the way we seem to be getting Farther away from wow yeah this is just a little this is just a little like we miss the exit you Know so we're just kind of backing up a little bit getting off of this one i've got mike out In reno mike how are you doing i'm doing good ready to talk about in the wee small hours i don't Have my witty quisp listen we yeah listen you don't need a witty quisp for this mike okay this Is the one show where we don't need any witty quips out of you whatsoever i've got aaron out In california now aaron was just telling me he heard about the new trend in sleeping you know We're always looking to sleep better and it's it's corduroy pillows man corduroy pillows they're Making all the headlines oh that's okay rob i like when you do clean jokes that's a good that

[20:00]Actually fits on aaron's head too like i'm getting a crease on my head my hair is too long right now Ed crease i'm getting a crease i can feel it i'm getting one too i felt one the other day i got a Scotty pippen up here i don't know Where that came from sometimes i sit and sigh and i say go long blues let's talk about frank Sinatra in the wee small hours you know what but before we do anything it's time for us to go to The voicemail i know mike's disappointed he doesn't get to do the hit segment random sound Clips but guess what we got tons of voicemails now we don't need any more voicemails don't leave Okay we're back baby here we go Okay so i'm gonna stop you right there okay now whenever i shower i think of rob the perfect Voicemail from our listener okay that is so good this is exactly why i wanted to start a podcast Was for moments like this all right let's you know what listen to it again

[21:00]I think of rob and how i too have very clean forearms my forearms are also definitely clean But you should tell them about the foot stretch that you learned about and maybe that'll inspire Rob to wash his feet Is that a different person? It helps me remember to wash my feet you put your fingers through your toes Gives them a nice little stretch interlocking fingers with your toes Yes exactly Rob where are you going come back you gotta show me come back So that was two callers at once? That was two callers at once okay oh my video went out Okay yeah that was two callers at once i cannot tell you i was excited because i was like Hey you know what? What do you think? Can you call the back line can you at least have the respect to not to take us off your cars Like audio assistant please okay but no it was because that was a menage a call okay that was

[22:00]Two women calling and not only that eric okay you got real close to the camera during that call Kind of like you're trying to get into the voicemail but it was about washing your feet And they put their hands between their toes and again of course i've talked about i've got my Long brush it's changed my life my shoes don't even smell that much my dog barely wants to chew In my socks so i'm not gonna lie to you i'm not gonna lie to you i'm not gonna lie to you When i take him off at night okay he barely licks my toes anymore my toes are so clean And now what i'm gonna do for you aaron okay well what do you guys think what do you want to talk About that because i'm gonna i have a little thing i'm gonna show you guys here in just a Little bit i'm just wondering if her life insurance is paid up because man i was picturing How she's trying to do this in a shower with like one okay i'm with you i'll picture that too Yeah and then she's got one foot up and she's still like and they're probably both in There together like showing each other how to do it exactly You know and hey it is june happy pride month aaron you know how i view lesbian relationships In 4k if my internet's good enough you know what i mean oh yeah that joke has been upgraded aaron

[23:00]It used to be the joke used to be 480p guess what we've moved way on past that all right i yeah but That's the thing is it is when you are washing your feet and i know this is like the fifth Episode in a row where we've talked about washing feet there is a chance you're gonna fall okay but I want you right now so here's what i'm gonna do right now you guys are gonna listen to me do the Thing that they're talking about where i'm gonna reach down and i'm gonna interlock my hands Between my toes okay let's see now i just thought oh maybe i'll put it up to the camera That will not be happening okay i cannot do it okay so My toes are too close together i can't get my fingers in there It is i've got between my little toe and my look at this between my little toe and my Third second a little toe i can't It's too tight in there i can't tell if that's your toe or your thumb rub oh i'm so tired this

[24:00]Is why aaron guess what the last day with kids today guess what i'm not gonna wear anymore Socks shoes with laces okay i'm not bending over to tie my shoes anymore okay what mike we got any Good shower tips what's your good shower tip i think when we get older we all find out how to Get better in the shower what are we doing anything fun so my good shower tip is brush Your teeth while you're in the shower because oh i like that god damn you're already gonna have to Brush your teeth anyway and then it's just you know five more minutes that you can spend in the Shower wow now i am a little scared because i do an electric toothbrush okay and i'm worried They might find my fright you're not plugging it in right it's a black and decker it's yeah It's a very powerful one it's a it's a it's a hatachi magic wand i found under my bed that i've Hooked bristles too okay it's insanely powerful okay but it gets the job done I should say this mike now we know one thing about your morning routine Okay and that's not no listen our callers are trying to tell us how they shower Are how is the piano yeah now famously of course you wake up every morning and practice piano for

[25:00]Hours and hours how is that going it is going i thought you wanted me to tell you that i Also thought about you in the shower oh my god mike oh that's i listen oh he would never Stoop so low yeah ask you to tell him that well now wait a minute if i was in the shower thinking About bike i might stoop low i do have my number one shower move aaron's Stooping low i do have my waterproof speaker so usually if the podcast loads up on time i will Listen to it while i'm getting ready okay all right so what times a quarter you get it a couple Times a quarter you're all right hey let's see during the summer when i'm not working will that Happen more often or will it happen less often let's see if rob's life we all know the first Week out of school rob's life spiral a little bit okay i did have a king-size reese's nutrageous Oh this is starting early so we should do it yeah we should do a baseline for the number of

[26:00]Hours you've played on your current video game right now and then check in a week oh boy That's gonna be a real bad one that's gonna be terrible okay mike but enough about my life Falling apart you're still what is your piano regime for people who did not tune in last time Yeah so i still do get up at four i have to clarify though when i get up at four i drink a Pre-workout i don't yes I don't dry scoop i do actually mix it with water wow so it's not just straight cocaine But not milk or chocolate milk but yeah and then so then i let that kick in i do wordle I've got a 306 day streak going right now oh my god that is so stressful by the way world day The other day testy okay i got a couple messages about that one okay some people thought of me for That and then yeah and so then by about five that's when it kicks in so then from five to Well depending on if i have to drop my kids off at school or not then it's usually five

[27:00]To seven ish and then you practice for two hours yeah i mean it's a lot of that is video because I'm watching i do have a teacher i'm for the teacher i'm practicing equinox by coltrane And then but i'm also taking some online courses and right now i'm taking a blues course and so There's a lot of it's a blues course by a guy in berlin actually christian from berlin And yeah so there's a lot of like instructional video there we go and that's like a little bit East of the english channel a little south of the wow iceland a little north of the mediterranean Is that what we're saying it's east of the english channel i mean hey my favorite english Channel man you're never going to guess the punchline to this joke bbc3 that's my Favorite not scott's on coltrane sound i'm trying to replace the album That this is on yeah on coltrane sounds yeah it is on coltrane sound yeah i was gonna say

[28:00]That too great tune so you're playing the mccoy tyner part or you're playing the solo part I'm playing the solo because what we're trying to get me ready for is to be able to improvise On stage that's my teacher's number one goal is he's like we are getting you on stage within the Next month or two oh so what is the plan to get on stage we're we're hitting the Up a jazz open mic a jam or what's going on yeah jazz open mic somewhere but the one problem is That the one place that did have it where so there's a there's a really good one and i'm like I'm not doing that one but there used to be one with the college kids that i would have felt Comfortable doing but that place closed so we're trying to find some place that's on the Same level there oh wow that's so but so have you done any playing with people or in front of people Yet in front of people i have in front of people i've done it at a coffee shop called the law or

[29:00]It's coffee wine Bar called the lodge which is on the way up to mount rose ski resort i don't know if you know Where that is i've still not been to mount rose but i do know where it is and then but i have Not played with other people and then that's the trick at least with that one though i did play With like a backing track or whatever so i still had to be like in time but that's always the trick Is like when you're playing with other people it's like you got to be locked in which is hard For piano players because they don't like to be locked in why do you now Why do you say that piano players don't like to be walked in because it's hard it's difficult Because you're trying to you know you're trying to do two things at once and so it's Really you know so like if you're playing solo like solo cocktail those guys can they're all Over the place with like their tempo and stuff but you know like when you're playing with the Band you've got to you know you've got to pay attention to that drummer i i always thought That was fun though i had a couple jams you know i played a little bass before i played guitar and

[30:00]So bass was always kind of fun because you could go and just jam with people I always thought that was a good time i mean my you've got to be good enough where you could play With almost anybody now right i mean that's just like a muscle that you can sure you gotta flex Well yeah i mean you are i i guarantee you are i guarantee it yeah counting is my really Big thing i that's that i realize i struggle with because i can do it if i'm actually Playing my left hand but if i don't have my left hand engaged as well i really struggle With keeping in time with just yeah So which is weird because i also play bass i actually have my my little bass this is another Situation where mike's gonna show me up and play no no no i haven't played i haven't played it i Haven't played it for a few years but yeah so it's just yeah like that Was my last lesson was let's count let's count with the metronome and really lock in with that

[31:00]With that coltrane solo and i mean but there's got to be there's got to be like things you can Play with like i would guess they have a lot of things to play with but i don't think they have a lot of things to play with Oh yeah there's youtube video and play along with that and yeah there's i real pro which is What i was using and then last week i was on a cruise that's actually why we're a little delayed In this and i was watching what they were using time is immaterial that's right it's a Flat language anymore did this cruise ship have to go a certain speed or it'd blow up because That was one of my favorites lots of pineapples on this oh wow they were not i did maybe People had magnets all over their doors right Who's putting this magnet up right listen if you've got enough magnets on your cruise door And i not and somebody knocks on the door and you open it up and it's me staying there naked Don't be surprised look at all the magnets you that's on you that's i'm here to muster oh That's right thank you i thought that was a good cruise joke now i just want i pulled this up

[32:00]Because i i did want to say with you playing live jenny just posted a video of me playing live Jenny posted this week okay now this is a video of me at my famous guitar rehearsal That i played when i moved to new york i got guitar lessons and then he said hey you should Come play at a you know like all my students are doing a show well i didn't realize that all the Students were kids and i didn't realize that the show was in a church okay so then i show up with My vikings jersey on because it was sunday okay what song did i sing ready aaron so jenny just Something about tennessee i have not i watched this last night i gotta be honest i came home Late last night i'm not gonna lie i'm not gonna lie i'm not gonna lie i'm not gonna lie i'm not Gonna lie you sound great aaron please don't talk oh is it you know what you're right no you sit There you listen to yourself you wouldn't yeah it's in your headphones turn it Up oh no i wouldn't be so long all along oh oh that is good it's a good song no matter where

[33:00]You have a song is it yeah it's on that it's on that Circle get broken Broken box just naming a lot of places i got homeless i got home late last night i went out Twice i'm giving them giving away my rolling going but i went okay that's you know what Fuck it you know what okay we're getting into rolling going okay by the way aaron the original Version of that song they stayed on the same tempo it's time everybody's up to the app it's Time for no rolling actually showing that video to mike before he's gonna go play live was a huge Mistake because he's like that could be me oh no he doesn't have a vikings jersey was that No who was it i don't know who it was there's no way as a chris elvan okay i didn't love his Tattoos so cool oh so yeah i went out last night and i i have i now have i have more like i have

[34:00]A couple of different circles of people that i know in my neighborhood and my school and whatnot And they kind of overlap and they kind of don't and last night i went out to see disclosure day With a group of dads which i do recommend i i don't like colin firth i don't like colin firth But i do like the movie disclosure day i thought it was nice i saw it in 70 millimeter Which is only showing in oakland and a few other select places so that was wonderful that's That's what that's how jenny measured 70 millimeters that's right so i went out to see Disclosure with a few guys and i took an uber down to the theater because i had a drink at home With anna before i went and i was like there's just gonna you know do the safe thing took the Uber and then there was another group of guys different group of guys who kind of know each Hanging out in my neighborhood like having backyard beers and i knew that if i got out of The movie early enough i could stop by for the last backyard beer but i also felt but there Were other guys who live near me who were down at the theater who like could have given me a ride

[35:00]Home so my options were like just like take the uber be like peace out guys it's fine or hop in The car with another friend and be like hey there's this other hangout that you weren't really Invited to that's happening do you want to Come by and then he gets like the courtesy invite you know where i'm like oh hey did you Want to like stop by this thing or what so i took that third option where i just i took the Uber i was just like yeah guys i'm good i got a ride and i hopped in the uber and came back to The other hangout and then i turned out there was some sotola at the hangout which is like Another it's like a it's an agave based spirit this guy had brought some back from mexico and i Drank too much sotol too close to bedtime so i came home and i was trying to like give myself I watched this video that jenny posted of you rob and i thought i was having visions i thought i was I didn't know what year it was because it was like almost midnight and i was watching this Thing and i was like i know that's not 2026 rob but she just posted the video i don't quite

[36:00]Understand and then you had commented something and i i didn't know if the algorithm was broken Or if i had time traveled it was because i had just seen this movie too that's about like we're Not alone in the universe and all this stuff it really threw me for a loop so i watched the whole Thing through but you did sound great rob and i was like oh my god i'm gonna watch this movie I appreciate it that she put it out there it's fun yeah well she didn't ask me before she was Gonna post that was not something i had posted publicly i don't but she seemed to you Know what is what am i gonna start a fight over it okay it was nice and i will i don't know I don't know the best way to say this rob but it's it is impressive physically you look younger Now you look great and i know you don't want to hear that they do and you like you don't want to Hear the sincerity but it's true man you look fantastic so you should you know you've been Working at it this family is so Close to being in my rearview oh i can hardly wait okay i cannot oh all these college graduations I'm just like all right here we go you don't start to look around a little bit okay wish i Wouldn't have said that sounds really bad i did have to handle an awkward kind of friend moment

[37:00]Ride to like turn down a ride and take an uber to preserve yeah it's the thing is that i tell The parents when they come into curriculum night for me because i teach middle school i said listen This sucks middle school sucks it's the worst i always Say if you loved middle school more than anything else you're a total psychopath like if you're like If you met somebody and they're like the favorite time in my life was seventh grade you'd be like oh My god that's the saddest thing i've ever heard in my life but you think to yourself oh well That's when it's really socially stressful you don't know what's going on and wrong it turns Out it's socially stressful never goes away anytime you choose to go out with friends and That's why so often you're just like right my throat hurts i'm not going out like you know what I mean you're just like i don't want i i it's just so tough to i used to hang out with people They're like well we're going to go out but i don't want to tell them and i don't tell them and I said no i can't do it no i gotta tell everybody if i'm going out and i can never tell a lie i just Have to go do it and guess what is it going to be awkward when your friend who's driving you home Comes to that fire pit maybe but guess what that was his choice aaron okay i think you got to try

[38:00]To bring people together now i should have you're right no you're getting in the uber was the Absolute correct thing to do because then you don't even have to think about it all right i took the Uber down there i took the uber home no everyone's none the wiser it's fine unless they listen to Next time and i would love to know how it's rolling going with mike i'm super excited to Have a guest on the show tonight so i actually have to i'm gonna talk to rob real quick this is Nice oh okay so hey more shower details where i'm on it what do you do first Or arms so okay last week you talked about doc hollywood how old were you when you saw doc Hollywood okay i'm gonna go into my Mind Palace okay i'm gonna go into my memories okay there's disco ball there's a lot of 404 file not Found i wonder why that is what could i be doing that's because the fact that this movie with a

[39:00]Certain scene did not leave an impression for the rest of your life wow okay so it's gotta be you Were maybe eight well okay so i'm gonna say you know what i'm gonna guess that i was nine i was Gonna say nine let's see what year did doc hollywood come out doc hollywood of course Mike give a quick summation Of the movie doc hollywood i have no idea but i know exactly what scene when you Were talking about it you're like oh it's the most boring movie ever i was like julie warren Coming out or is it julie warner coming out of the water fully nude in a pg-13 Movie i was like on wow that's like the only thing i remember about this movie okay you know What i didn't want to do it so early in the podcast run but we are going to go to mr skin Oh doc hollywood Okay now aaron are you what scene are you impressed aaron how fast i could pull up a Dude movie site i'm impressed especially with your spelling so i also like college

[40:00]My kids are walking behind right when i'm looking at oh what is mr skin i explain this every friday It's a site that collects nude scenes from movies I wish oh my god the things are on the screen and don't look underneath what it's Says okay so this is a scene from doc hollywood 1991 and you're telling me that doc Hollywood is a what it's a pg pg-13 pg-13 movie 1991 all right so here we go let's see what happens Wow so she is in a sunrise or sunset there she is bathing nude in a river From the back you can still see a lot of stuff i think the lighting makes it art i think that's

[41:00]What's going on here oh just wait aaron just wait so that is the oh no no there's more There is more wait now he's still dreaming and now she's coming out and this is a full-on Naked lady in the river movie wow oh just this is one of the greatest video reviews we've ever Done mike i'm not gonna lie russie you know What i mean And russ would say oh we're not watching this yeah guess what russ we are Hi good morning i mean you can just tell by the way this he is talking to a naked woman who just Walked out of the lake and i still want to turn it off it's one of the most boring movies i've Ever seen in my entire life can you imagine if this did not keep me entertained what could have Some other shit and then also bridget fonda you had bridget fonda i was just like you had both Too yeah man hey beck did a better heads out there your homework tonight watch

[42:00]Rock holiday okay don't have the kids out what do you do so so the other thing though i want To mention i did get tickets for the namesake of your podcast that he is coming to he's coming To where he's he's not coming to reno no no he's coming to san francisco and i'm the masonic Oh in september it sounds like what he's gonna do is so he had i can't remember c chain Is c change still on the list matt is he gonna do the whole thing of c chain No no but i was gonna say so he did c change and then like 10 years later he did morning phase it Sounds like he is going to do a third album in that vein oh that's what this album is okay that's He's got some new music out have you heard his new music it's just odelay it's the only one At 424 okay so yeah because c change was on the old list on the that 2012 that's Not what i love i i did notice beck was on tour he is going to be in brooklyn in october

[43:00]He is going to be in october 7th in minneapolis now hey mike we're gonna stay in touch with that I have your number now is there matt is there any chance that you're gonna go see beck in Minneapolis oh hell yeah i mean last time he was supposed to be here he's supposed to come With arcade fire they were gonna play at the armory we had the suite we were gonna have A suite of that was supposed to be the first concert meetup of all time back was opening For arcade fire and then that's when he was going to be in brooklyn october he's going to be in Right when the arcade fire the lead singer dude kind of had some bad stuff come out about him And so then they canceled the tour and he hasn't been back since so oh no it's on the list Of of concerts to go to in the fall i so right now i'm looking right we've got three Listings for tickets the cheapest one is 164 dollars all right for two tickets so that's About 80 bucks that's not bad i'll go see that isn't that 100 i think that's 164 each

[44:00]Isn't it 164 each oh my god that's a lot that's during the week rob i might I might come i might have to make a work trip oh the end of october come let's come we'll come Hang out well let's i'll do it let's do it that'd be fun i i just can't i don't know if i'm going To be a big beck fan this is like i'm we're missing russell again 164 dollars for beck Tickets versus i could have paid 300 a piece to go see cotter versus switzerland tomorrow at Noon in san francisco Santa clara so you could go to a beck show for half wow of a world cup the pot quite possibly The worst match of the world cup you go to a beck show for less than half of that wow that's a good Point i mean i wouldn't even if i paid 164 dollars for dinner i'd be like oh that Was cheap okay and yet for like a three-hour concert i'm like i i have been thinking about You guys are calling me cheap and you know what aaron i'm gonna start spending more money okay

[45:00]I've never called you cheap and first i'm gonna i gotta make some money okay so if you know what He's gonna win these groups in the world cup please let me know what if i could tell you right No but like the i think rob if you actually went through like the beck albums like started i I did it i created like a best of bag got a 28 track playlist of back i mean i think you'd i Think you'd find that you like a lot of beck i i have to everything we play of his i i enjoy And i love odly i thought that was a great album well so if it's going to be sea change it's going To be a sea change that's why i called that it's like a completely different thing i'm not going to Yeah it's like slow because he got it's basically his breakup album he got dumped And then it's a good one to talk about tonight actually it is a good one to talk about to this Album exactly i mean he's got a new song out i mean the album must be coming out if it's not Already out the new album yeah and the new song is in definitely in the vein of of sea Change and yeah okay so you think he's just doing the full sea change i don't think he's

[46:00]Doing those albums i just think he's doing those i think the tour is going to be focused on like The slower stuff because with rob put on ride lonesome all right i was going to say lost Cause is one of my favorite songs guess i'm doing fine those are great songs yeah i mean but i Also i look at that track list from sea change and it's it's similar to when i listened back to Some of the johnny cash american recordings so i was like why was i listening to those in my 20s Like what did i have to be like why was i doing that to myself In my 20s it was funny because now listening to those johnny cash albums you're like oh this is a Guy who's gonna die and he's trying to like yeah do as much as he can yeah and back then we're like This is good right because when you're like 20 you're like yeah like i'm so far from that it's Cool no not none anymore yeah nope good yeah now it's like seeing toy story seeing that they're Coming out with a toy story six how many times can they talk about getting older in a movie

[47:00]I'm not gonna be tricked again i will not be seeing that all this rob you're not gonna like About screens the screens are getting in the way of playing with toys so you're not gonna like This one unless one of the toys is a hitachi wand with a toothbrush attached i'm not interested Jesse what are you doing saving time okay that's how i save time like Instead of in the shower that's when i brush my teeth yeah okay let's do it matt let's go See peck in concert we have to now matt here's a question are we gonna wear the shirts oh Okay so that i'm gonna maybe for matt on that i don't even know if i have my shirt do i have a Shirt i don't have a shirt i do for sure i will be wearing it okay mike you do not for me john For me diana has one because he wears it all the time mike you do not feel the need to feel Pressure wear your red one that i know you own i do by the way it's not creepy when the host of The podcast knows what color the shirt you own well you're like one was purchased it was red

[48:00]There it is in my inventory for tax purposes Yeah Tax purposes That's it rob's tax guy up in cloquet or whatever yeah no real hot no not anymore now We got a real now we've got a real and guess what we're getting we got a massive refund this year i Was like this rules we should have done this years ago who would have thunk it rolling Going man how's it going with you i'm just gonna go short tonight because we've got Got championship baseball in the morning we're in the championship of the civilized who's who's Throwing who's your opener oh i think it's going to be a little bit of a little bit The top of my list is will i think will's gonna go he threw in the first round he got to five innings And like 64 pitches so he's just under the what i don't know the limits but he's just under the Limit we were down like 10 to nothing after two innings on wednesday limit

[49:00]In each inning or not it's it's 10 no okay it's there's no limit anymore there's no limit There's a time limit on the game so it's got to be an hour 40 can't any in next inning can't start Hour, 45 minutes. So we were coming down to, we were down, We were down like 10 runs. We came back, we clawed back. It was like 10 to six. Then they got another like five. So it was like 15 to six. We got back at three. We bring in a guy shuts them down for two innings and we're in the bottom of The fifth. It's seven 41. So we know that this is it. We're not starting another inning. We're down six runs. We're down 15 to nine cocky sons of bitches poll. There's their bet. Their best pitcher who's shutting us down because they want to save him for The next game to go to the championship. There is no tomorrow with pitching. What do you think happens? The legacy little league team came back and scored six runs in the bottom of The fifth and ones or seven runs was six runs and one 15. Was Eddie on base? Was Eddie involved in the fifth inning?

[50:00]Eddie, I think Eddie. Yeah, he was involved. I mean, everybody's Bob. And I'm telling everybody in the dugout, we got to get six runs. Everybody put their helmet on. Everybody's bat in the setting. Everybody put your helmet on. Yes. Yep. Everybody got their helmets on. They're all jazzed up. The one kid, we got one kid in the team has never played baseball. Doesn't swing. Never swings. Hasn't swung in 16 games. He refuses to swing. Everybody in the league knows that this kid's not swinging. They walk up. So he's even, he gets on base, comes around and scores. Yep. Jeremiah. He scores. You got to call him Sony. You got to call him Sony. If he's, if he's a walk, man. I mean, that's the way now, man, let me ask you this. Yep. If you went out and put shoes on your knees, Would you be a better player than most of the kids in this game? Hitting wise? Yeah. I mean, but you know, that's,

[51:00]And you could play catcher shoes on the catcher. I could probably play first base. I could probably play first base better than 80% as well. Wow. So God, that'd be great. They should do that. Parents on their knees versus the kids. We played a parent. I should have been my wrong. No, we played a parent versus kid game on Wednesday. Nobody got hurt. So that was good. That's that's all you need. We hadn't like, there was a couple of dads taking full hacks. And I was like, you guys, these kids are nine. Let's not. I would be so tempted in a parent's kid game to just, And this might shock you guys to just try to hit an absolute. I thought you think that, But then you stand at the plate and you look at the kids and you just think That the, And you're like, If you're the one who hits a blind drive right off a kid's dome or the Numbers are not going to be that, You know, Or I'm going Jim Tomey. See you later. Huge Korean bat flip. Oh my God. Okay. No, Much more likely I hit it to the kid just wearing the biggest glasses.

[52:00]I just hit it right at his face. That's exactly what would happen. A hundred percent for sure. Yeah. So we got a short, I was just going to say, Rob, I did, My earbuds did pop up in Queens four weeks. I could track them. The case was still in the airport. I mean, Like it was, You know, Whether or not they like could shut that off, But, But the earbuds showed up in Queens four weeks ago. Wow. Wow. I don't know. I don't know. And then I'm rewatching shoresy cause there's not much on right now. And it is still the funniest goddamn show in the world. If anybody hasn't watched shoresy, I might have to watch it. Especially if you like hockey, Even a little bit of hockey, It is so funny. I was just saying, I don't, I'm not familiar with shoresy on Hulu. Okay. Came out of letter Kenny show letter Kenny, Which has got pretty popular in like the mid 20 teens. Then there was a character shoresy and shoresy is the same guy who was the head,

[53:00]The main character in the same actor in letter Kenny. And he's also the writer and producer and all this stuff. And the dude is hilarious. So you need a show Hulu shoresy. They're like 22 minute, 25 minute episodes. So they're nice and short, But it's pretty good. Thinking about sports on TV. I have a hobby recently where I am finding all Jason Sudeikis clips on Tik TOK. Anytime I see a Jake and Jason Sudeikis clip, I'll either post in the comments that he wants laid down under his wife's car. So she didn't go to Harry styles. Like he, He like got down on the ground. So she couldn't drive to Harry styles. Now I found, I did some research and I did find out that Olivia wild, Who was his wife at the time, Was bringing Harry styles, A salad with special salad dressing on it. Okay. Now that would be suspicious. I have to say as much as you don't want to lay down under a car that your Wife is trying to drive away. Now, First of all, If I did that, I can just tell you what would happen. Okay. There is no way she would notice that I played down or the car. It would be an absolute disaster.

[54:00]Okay. That's she at night with her transition glasses. Everything is too dark. Okay. She gets all those bags in there. She's got no time to check what's in front of the wheels. And I can tell you as somebody who has driven, If she does go over something that makes the car make a huge bump, It doesn't seem to bother her that much. Okay. She's not, She's not doing a lot of investigating. You know what I mean? So I would be in big trouble or the time when he served his wife papers While she was getting an award on stage. So I will post those things. It's kind of like my new Kirby pocket where I just want to kind of take Something that people are having fun with and then really make their lives Miserable. So good times. And then we have, We have been advertising at the St. Olaf baseball golf tournament, The last like six years. And so I'm sure you see huge, Huge numbers, Big spikes. Oh yeah. You know, With the Beck did a better whole sponsorship. Matt from Northfield is, Is retiring. So I'm trying to be a little cryptic here. It's not, He won't be at the golf tournament next year in a official capacity.

[55:00]So I stole that sign. I stole that, That whole sign. So I do have that for my garage. Anyone else we know be at the golf tournament in an official capacity. No, No, So you may know somebody, But it's tough. So Beck did a better. We'll no longer be sponsoring a whole. Is that what's happening? I don't know. It kind of depends. I mean, If they hired Joe blow from, You know, East or something like that, This kicks ass. We're part of a booster. We're part of a college booster program now. Yep. Yes. Aaron, This is where I've always wanted to be where the money is. We're the fuckers in the program with the envelopes. Yes. We're handing the envelopes to Darnell and stuff. Oh my God. This is so good. I got to golf with John. From me, Dinah and Joe from East St. Paul. And then Steve, That's Steve. So who golfed the worst? Oh, Steve, Steve's a terrible golfer. And I love it. Steve's awful. We all had, We all had our, Our, We all had our issues. John for me, Dinah is a good golfer.

[56:00]So he's, He kind of carried the crazy. He did win the longest putt, Things like that. And one of the holes and all sorts of stuff like that. We did, We let off on hole 12 down in Northfield, Which is a par five. And we, We, We eagled it. Wow. So we, We all wrote our name down. That was also the longest drive hole. So we all wrote our name down because we, You know, At one time or another, We had the longest drive. We kind of tried to go in order. So I went first. So I had the line, Then Joe from East St. Paul. So we all had, We had the longest drive and we were winning the tournament after the First hole. And that was, Wow. Wow. That's fantastic, Man. I'm so happy that Beck did it better is sponsoring stuff and that we're, We're making a difference out there. Yeah. Making a difference. And I, And I'm sure that a lot of people pass by that hole and said, Oh, I should write that down. I should listen to that. And then huge spike. I'm guessing. Yeah. Just wait. Well, When they hear this episode and my parody song, They're going to be like, This is the podcast for me. Thank you so much. Rob rolling, Going, How's it going with you? Listen,

[57:00]I fucked up there today. Okay. Once again, I messed up. Okay. Fuck this. This fucked up. You fucked up. Okay. This was a problem. Tell me what you, Tell me what you think I did wrong in this situation. I, So, So basically it was, My daughter went to prom last week. Okay. Now seeing a young man come over to take my daughter to prom is very Funny to me because this young man is basically me from a time machine. Okay. Who is now attempting to date my daughter. Okay. Extraordinarily bad at it makes every single mistake. He comes, He shows up and he's like, Oh, I was just playing Frisbee for five hours outside with all my friends. He has not been thinking about, About prom for two seconds. My daughter has been getting ready all day. Friends over doing the hair. This kid shows up and is so sunburned. It is crazy. How sunburned he is. I mean, Did he like take a shower and get dressed up?

[58:00]Did he go home first? Yeah. He's kind of got like a suit. He's kind of got a suit, But not really, You know what I mean? So he's just so summer. My daughter's like, What the fuck is going on? How he's like, I was playing Frisbee. And meanwhile, I was behind him. I was like, He was playing Frisbee. What's he supposed to do? You know what I mean? Like sometimes you just have to like, You bust out some of your pictures from your Frisbee days. No, I did your ultimate Frisbee days at college. I don't think, No, I don't. A lot of those pictures are where we getting naked for attention during the Chance for some reason. Another time where I got naked in college, Probably without people liking it so much. So at this point now, Jenny and I parents of the year, We scheduled a dinner with friends the night of prom. Okay. So instead of, So I said to Jenny, I said, Well, Are we going to take pictures of Amelia at prom? And she was, I was like, Oh, I guess not. We're going to dinner. I was like, What the fuck? Who planned this? So I get some candidates of her getting ready. I give the camera to her sister. They head out. Okay. As I walk out the door, I shake this guy's hand.

[59:00]Who's her boyfriend. Nicest guy. Great guy. I think he's great. I shake his hand and I say to him, Good luck. And then I walk out the door. Good luck. Why the fuck would I say good luck? Yeah. Like what sort of my daughter's prom that he would have? Like what's, What are you hoping that would, You know, What was the luck for Rob? No, I went out in the hall, Literally the door closed. I went out in the hall and I go, Good luck. What the fuck? I go, Jenny, I just said, Good luck. She goes, What? I said, Yeah, I don't know. You didn't give him the double like finger guns. Like, Yeah, Buddy. No, I kind of shook his head. I just said, I shook his head. Good looking hell, Bitch. I don't know. Good luck. So obviously, He thinks good luck. I hope the night goes well for you. Exactly. He's like, What the fuck? This guy's encouraging this. Yeah.

[1:00:00]He thinks he probably thinks I'm some sort of, I will be home at two 30. Make sure everything is back in place by two 30 guys. First toast on the table at 9am tomorrow. Please. I don't know. I'm hoping he thinks I'm some sort of like super smart guy that I was playing Some sort of mind game with him. I was like, Good luck. And it turns out another really depressing time. When you have a kid with a boyfriend, I go to my closet. Pull out a shirt. Try to put it on. Guess what? Not my shirt. Oh, Boyfriend's shirt. No. What? Okay. So not only is this guy dating my daughter. Okay. And guess what? There's only six rules. That's right. I took two of the rules out. All right. And these rules are complicated. Aaron, There's six complicated rules for dating my daughter. Don't put my shirt in your closet. Let's say it together. Okay. Rule number one. Don't put your shirt in my closet. We don't. Which means I did this kid's laundry. Okay. Which means his shirt was off and thrown,

[1:01:00]Somehow thrown in a pile of your laundry somewhere. I can't. Mike, Mike, Do you have, You have daughters? One. I have a daughter. Well, She's only 13, But I, I do have, I do have older boys and. Right. Yeah. And there were times where I had was like, I am knocking and I'm waiting. Oh, It's it's tough though in New York though. Cause you like it like really like we don't have, Cause when we started, I was like, Okay, Door has to be open. She, She was like, No, I was like, Oh, Well, Okay. I, I don't know what to do. Cause guess what? There's no basement. Like when I was growing up, There was a basement, Right? That, That first early girlfriend and I, We went down to the basement. We had like a little privacy. Not that we were like going crazy, But when there's no basement, There's no privacy. So she's 17. What are you going to do? Were you hoping to rehash any of those? Memories when you were going to meet her on Roosevelt Island?

[1:02:00]The thought did like, It was just a flash. It was like a quick flash. Like maybe she's coming back. She's going to come back and she's going to be like, Oh, You're so buff. Now she hasn't seen me since high school. Okay. And you don't have a basement. So she's like, Oh my God, I don't have a basement. Oh, So she figured that out. If your daughter was smart right now, It'd be the time to have her boyfriend over because you're going to be like, You need, Everyone needs to be closing doors. I need, The audio fidelity is true. And can you imagine care less about anything else that's going on around me? Cause this is my damn podcast. Can you imagine the show I would put onto if this boy was listening to me talk, What I would be talking about, How funny I would be. Oh my God. That's for Mike. I've talked to Mike so many times now, Not trying to show off for a new boy. Oh, I'd be going crazy. Hey, No, I can tell you right now, My daughter would rather join a nunnery than tell the boyfriend that I have a Podcast and then have him listen to it. No, No, He's in, He's in the room. While you're recording.

[1:03:00]Well, I know. Listen, I get what you're saying. I understood it the first time. Mike's thinking like a guy. I mean, This person came out of my wife's vagina, Mike, And you're going to talk. His shirt is in her pile of clothes. How did it get there? What's your dude? What was he wearing when he left the place? Yeah. I didn't even go that far here. That's a good point. My robe is missing. How the hell did he get out of there? Wait a minute. His shirt came off. And he, He wore my robe home. That doesn't even make sense. He, He, He, He found your shirt. The, The T what is that? The what's the, What's the movie? If he went home wearing my, I make the TX noise when I come to shirt. Oh my God. I would be so mad. Can you imagine? He goes into my closet. He's like, Oh my God, I need a shirt to wear at home. Okay. Which one? Which one? Which one? Yep.

[1:04:00]This is the one we made out so hard. My shirt, It burned up. There's a big hole in my shirt. Okay. I've got to go. Oh, Which one is it? Oh, It's the me. You shirt where me has a big penis and you has a little penis and stick Figures. Oh, Is this the master card? Have sex with you parody shirt that he bought for some reason. Just all the shirts I bought when I'm high. Oh, Is this one just said stereo steroid era and it has a picture of Barry Bonds on it. What is this guy's problem? Oh, This one says, Reading Rambo. And there's a picture of Geordie LaForge with a machine gun. For some reason. Yeah. That's a shirt I own. Listen, Folks, Let's get into the album. And I'm trying to talk about it right here. There we go. For nobody's favorite part of the show. Aaron, Is this a, Is this a music podcast? Did we invite a musician onto the podcast to talk music? Here we go. We are talking about Frank Sinatra in 1950. This is, This comes out in 55, 1950. Things are not going well for Frank Sinatra. He does a show at the Copacabana with his throat. Totally gives out. He walks off coughing up blood. He gets kicked off his label. His,

[1:05:00]His TV show gets canceled. Okay. His wife, Ava Gardner, Who once mentioned that he had a 15 pound cock is, Has walking out the door. And by the way, She used that word, Aaron, The C word. That's why I keep using it. It's, It's a quote. I have this historical record. And in fact, All he's got going for him is that at this point in Frank Sinatra in 1954, Did win an Academy award for best actor. Oh, And from here to eternity. Yeah. Yeah. Which is crazy by the way that he was just like crazy because he's not, He's barely in the movie. It's a Burt Lancaster movie and he's, He's got his support. He's best supporting actor. And he just wins an Oscar. I mean, He's so famous. I mean, His part is cool. Like he's fun. It's also fun because he's sort of comic relief in there. Cause like it's a Burt Lancaster and who's the Debra camera. Oh, I should know this. I'm going to look it up, But it's a steamy movie. It's a serious movie, But or, And love and all of that. And then he's kind of the comic relief. So like when, Like me, You grew up thinking Sinatra,

[1:06:00]It was the coolest guy in the world. And you watch from here to eternity and you're like, Oh, He's this goofball. Like he's this lovable little funny guy. But I, You could see that happening now. Like if I said to you, Harry Styles is going to win an Oscar in like 10 years, You'd be like, Oh, That's not sure now. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, For somebody like who's just like a superstar, They're a superstar. It's just the way it is. Debra, Debra Kerr. There we go. That's the one. No, I actually, I watched a Sinatra documentary about a month ago, I think in preparation for this. And, Wow. They did not want, He, He struggled to get anything other than comedic roles. Like he really, He, They were not going to cast him in from here to eternity. And, He had, He basically, I can't remember what he did, But it almost, Maybe there was the mafia thing. If I remember right, There was something that whoever they, Whoever they cast was all of a sudden not available to. Wow. Can you imagine you're getting, You're so funny that you're in movies. The mafia is helping you out and you have a 15 pound

[1:07:00]Penis. I'd be unstoppable. He books, He books, He books a studio and records basically what people say is the First concept album ever, Right? It's the first album where he's just singing like sad songs About his wife, Leaving them. I, And then most of them are standards. There's one that he co-wrote. There's one that somebody else wrote, But the rest of them are standard sad songs at this time in 1955, Just to give you an idea, The number one song on the radio rock around the clock by Bill Haley. So rock and roll is coming in. This kind of music is heading out. And all of a sudden he drops his album. He drops it as two 10 inch records, Or it comes out as a new thing. Aaron, Guess what? One 12 inch. This is the first, One of the first 12 inch, Like pop hit record. Which one Ava Gardner would have chosen on the day. Sometimes you want to, And sometimes that's so good. Wow. From here on, He goes from, He does the,

[1:08:00]The sixties Frank Sinatra, The fifties Frank Sinatra, Late fifties is basically, Sad album, Happy album, Sad album. Listen to the names of his next albums and try to guess Which one are his sad albums. Songs for swinging lovers. That's I like that one. Where are you? Only the lonely. No one cares. Oh, It's, It's hard to tell what he's thinking of it. And basically this is all about Ava Gardner, His wife, Who he was splitting up with. It was recorded in mono. And one of the most famous things about it is the, Cover of it, Where it has Frank Sinatra. Let me show you guys Frank Sinatra into the wee hours. Okay. It's got this like, And you can tell what he's kind of going for from the Image on the front. It's got a painted picture of him standing next to a Streetlight smoking a cigarette. Is this two albums in a row where there's a streetlight on The cover? Aaron, This is a hundred percent two albums in a row because last Week Donna summer had a street light.

[1:09:00]And that got me thinking, Aaron, What are some of the best songs that have a streetlight on The album? Come on. Oh, You did. Oh, This is incredible. Wow. Okay. First up. Okay. Now this is tough. Cause I've got links to the album cover. So first up with a sharp teacher, Their track, Aaron, We've got, I'm going to wait until the own cover comes up. Mother fucker. This plan was so good when I planned it. Incredible. Okay. And now this is an amazing bit. You know what? We're going to fast.com. What's my internet? Speed right now. Okay. It's fine. It's 450, 500 megabits. Why is this not loading? That's Rob. It's not your fault. Not your fault. Right? It's your fault. Okay. Rob, You're right. Okay. By the way, Still paying two internet providers for my apartment. I have not taken care of that yet. A liquid sword. Okay. Liquid swords. There is, Is there a streetlight on this album cover?

[1:10:00]Wait, Well, If there's not, Then your list is fucked. So I thought there's a streetlight on this album art. Wait a minute. Oh, There we go. There it is. There's that's anyway, Close enough. Liquid swords. This is a short, Titular track. This album Aaron was named because he would play master killer in 30 Games of road chess at a time. And they'd get so baked during it that they thought the pieces were Moving and he imagined them all coming to life. So it's so beautiful. Did everybody see the Wu Tang at halftime of game four? Mm-hmm. Oh, Electric. The, The deluxe version of this album Aaron actually came with a chessboard and pieces. I love that. Can you imagine that you could move an old dirty bastard around? Love that. The fourth best album with a streetlight on the cover dressed to kill by kiss. Okay. Which of course has rock and roll all night on it. Matt's favorite song. Okay. This was actually a photo shoot for an album cover and they had to go borrow a manager suit for Jean Simmons.

[1:11:00]That's why it fits so terribly. And he had to borrow white shoes from a freely, Which is why they don't fit very well on the cover either. So there you go. Okay. Aaron, I know what it is. It is a, It's a wild album cover. Was this their first album? I can't remember. I think they had, Let's see dress to kill. It's a third studio album. Oh, That's kind of crazy. Next up. We've got killers with iron maiden. Look what's right in the background there. Oh, The street light. Okay. It's a street light. This is murders in the room. More. Every time we listen to iron maiden, I'm like, Should I be listening to more iron maiden? Cause this kicks ass. I'm like, Should I be listening to more iron maiden? Cause this kicks ass. I would like a t-shirt of this album cover. Iron maiden had the sickest album covers. Look at this. This is Eddie on the front with an ax holding it. Love it. The buildings in the background are the actual block where the band lived during this time. Oh, Wow. Kind of funny.

[1:12:00]They do sound pretty good. I like that. Oh, Cut, Cut, Cut off there. Next up. Okay. Second on the list of the best songs with street lights on the cover. We have the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie. Very nice. Nice. I forgot there was a street light on this one. I had street lights. Yeah. Right. He is out on the street. And the sign there, The K West sign was a furrier in London. Now, Aaron, What does a furrier do? Can you tell me a furrier? Yeah. Cause when I looked it up online, I saw a bunch of people fucking each other with suits on. What the heck? They all look like rabbits. I ran into a furry conference. Last time I was in Atlanta. I'm not familiar. That's some good people watching. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Aaron, Do you know what a furrier does? What's a furrier? I, I don't know. Furrier. Okay. Like fur coats and stuff. It's a skilled artesian designer who makes repairs, Alters, Or cleans garments or goods made from animal fur. There you go. So, But somebody that was a,

[1:13:00]Got it. That was a furrier. And somebody actually stole that sign. Some Bowie fans stole it in like 1982. And then finally the number one album, Steal a sign that has street lights on the cover. Guess what? It's from the album. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Street lights. Okay. The street light is the word street light right here. This is Bonnie race. Such a grace angel from Montgomery. She sounds so good. Look at that picture over there. Look how young she looks on this cover. Oh, And in fact they gave her a hundred thousand dollars to record this album. And so she just did all the covers, But she's like, I can't get enough to all right, Man. Mike, What's a, What's a, What's an album that we missed free late on it. I've got one. Oh, I wasn't going to think that. I was just going to say the album cover because I was going to point at my poster here. Oh, it's all the women sitting on the side of the pool with the Pink Floyd albums on their back? No, the album cover for Wee Small Hours has always reminded me of the Nighthawks painting with the guys in the diner.

[1:14:00]Oh, yeah. Wait, which came first? I know it's the diner. Is that Edward Hopper? I believe it came first. I think it was in the 40s. Okay, so Sinatra was definitely thinking about that. Well, that's right. We're talking about that album. Listen, let's get into the Wee Small Hours. Yes, let's do it. I was going to say Abbey Road. Abbey Road's got to have streetlights on, right? When they're walking across the street. Okay, wait a minute. Let's check. Abbey Road cover. Probably, but yeah. Okay. You know what? There is a streetlight back there. Wow. Oh, yeah. There it is. There it is. That's a great one. Okay, there's no way you'll be able to find other album covers with streetlights on. That'd be crazy. But into the Wee Small Hours, this is the only non-songbook song on here, written brand New for Frank Sinatra, just for this album. Okay? What's the time where you guys say, oh, I'm up too late?

[1:15:00]What's the clock hit? And you're like, uh-oh. For me, it's like 11, 11, 15. I say, uh-oh. In the Wee Small Hours. I'm going to say 11, 30 or 12 for sure. I'm like, 11, 30. I'm like, yeah, this isn't good. Mike, what about you? You're getting up so early. What's your schedule? Yeah, so that's my schedule. My conflict is because by nature, I'm a night owl. So the whole having to learn to go to bed at 10 o'clock kills me. And it doesn't always happen. But yeah. So at 12.45, I know I'm going to be hurting when I wake up at 4.15. Yeah. Oh, cool. My brain could not function. No way. Next up, Mood Indigo. This is a Duke Ellington song. Most jazzy on the album. Now, listen. I was... This doesn't make me sound stupid. I was blown away by his... I guess not his voice, but like his singing style. His phrasing. So that's what I was going to ask Aaron.

[1:16:00]When you were in college, because this is what I have... With my piano teaching, they tell me to listen to Sinatra to know how to play solos. Because he plays so well. He's like just before the beat. He's just after the beat. He's coming in right at the very last second when you could come in before you're like way too late. Right, but I mean, I studied classical music, so nobody ever told me I should listen to Sinatra. So the only Sinatra I listened to in college was Songs for Swinging Lovers because I liked it and it was happy. But it's him and Willie Nelson who really do phrasing like nobody else. Yeah, yeah. Willie's a big one. That's a great point. Do we ask Mike why he chose... I know. I'm waiting for Mike. Mike, why... Mike chose to come down and bless us tonight. Why? Because my... My Spotify age last year was 82 because I deep-dived Frank Sinatra because of that. Oh. Because all my teachers were telling me to like so I went through every...

[1:17:00]Well, Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Yeah. So when we listen to like, you're glad to be happy, what are we listening for with Sinatra? Like what makes him... You're talking about the phrasing, but like why is every song of his sound so listenable to me? I mean, okay, so... If you have a sense... One of these albums, what you're listening for with all of his Capitol records is the Nelson Riddle arrangements because he's the guy that's in the background. Yeah, the orchestration fucking rules. Yeah. So this is before he's with Count Basie, right? Yeah, he only did two albums with Count Basie. Okay. And then he did a live album at The Sands. I love that one. Yeah. With Quincy Jones. With Quincy Jones. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that one's special. But, um... Yeah, so most of the Capitol albums he was with Nelson Riddle, and then he was with Gordon, something Gordon.

[1:18:00]I can't remember. But yeah, it was just another arranger. But honestly, like I do sort of still have trouble with the strings because I just, it just, it's so, it ages an album so much because it's just like, oh, this is from the 50s. It's like when you watch like the opening to like Disney's Peter Pan, right? Yeah. Like this came out in 1950, whatever, because they're going to be like strings everywhere. But yeah, it's just for me. So like for me, my favorite Sinatra song of all time is One More for My Baby and One More for the Road. Oh, yeah. And so just because I really just like the bluesy piano. So like for me, anything with like the bluesy piano is more my preferred Sinatra. And actually, when I deep dived, I actually realized I liked Tony Bennett. Yeah. Because Tony Bennett is way more because he has Ralph Sharon on all his albums as the piano player.

[1:19:00]But yeah, with Nelson Riddle, it's just you're, yeah, you're listening for those sort of, he just really, he takes those strings. He also like on that one, I think there was like a Glockenspiel in there. Yeah. Just like there's just, yeah, you're just listening for how he is able because he would, I think he would sing live with these orchestras too. I don't think he was overdoing this. Yeah, for sure. He would. Yeah, I think Tony Bennett has a more beautiful voice. I don't think, I don't think anybody would argue that Sinatra's voice is the most beautiful, but he was charismatic and his phrasing is 100% unique. He was able to play with the beat and make, draw you in and make you listen. And the bottom of his voice is much better, I think, than I realized. There are a couple of tracks on here where the lower register is really nice. He really has to reach at the top, but the lower register is really nice. I get along without you very well. I fucking love this. Do you think it's just, because to me it's confidence. I'm hearing somebody who's supremely confident in singing.

[1:20:00]Yeah. And I don't know if that's because I grew up watching the SNL reruns where they would do the Frank Sinatra impression. And I was too young to get it, but I was like, oh, okay, he's like a super confident kind of rude guy. Like, but he just sounds like a real master of his craft here to me. I don't know. I mean, you guys know more about music, but. But this is, this song is so vulnerable, right? I mean, it's like, he's got that charisma. But at the same time, you're like, man, this guy's about to like break it's, he's right on the verge. I agree. And I think there's a vulnerability to him on film too. Now that I think about From Here to Eternity, I need to watch the film again. I think he was good at that. He was good at showing himself and letting people in. And there's, there's, I haven't seen the movie, but there's a movie called The Man with the Golden Arm that came out a couple of years after From Here to Eternity, where he plays a heroin addict. And apparently it's almost unwatchable because it's so accurate to somebody that's trying to break that habit.

[1:21:00]What an enigma he is. I mean, just deep in a dream. A lot of this song, by the way, has a lot of him smoking in bed. Can you guys imagine anything better? Just like, to me, when I, when you talk about smoking in bed, there's like two things I can think about. Number one, ashes in the bed. Right. Right. Number two, you'd have to get up and brush your teeth afterwards, right? Right. Like, you couldn't go to bed with just having smoked a cigarette as the last thing. He literally talks about waking up with a cigarette burning his fingers in the song. Well, I picture, don't you picture him like in like the armchair and he's just like, he's falling asleep and like, it's just sitting there and he's got the whiskey in one hand and the cigarette in the other. And he's just depressed about his life, thinking about this, even the gardener that left him. Oh. Man. Then he looks down. He sees a 15-pound cock and he's like, ah, I'm fine. Things aren't so bad.

[1:22:00]I'm good. I see your face before me. Guys, what are we fixing with our faces beside the obvious? You know what I mean? Like, if you could fix one thing, by the way, wives do not like that. If you say, hey, what would you fix on your face except for the obvious? Oh, God. Don't say that. Somebody told me I was on a call. I've been on video for more calls than somebody told me the other day that I looked perturbed. And I was like, oh, that's not good. I don't want to be told. Oh, that looked perturbed at work. That's not good. Oh, Aaron, I totally forgot. We got to talk about next week. Next rolling going about my management training. Oh, my God. I got to go. We got to compete. Okay. I'm out. I'm out of that one. I start the summer and you guys are going to talk about your management training? Good Lord. Yeah. Got to go deep on that. What? Because one of my students, their dad is a plastic surgeon. And so I said to him, I said, hey, what should I get on my face for plastic surgery? Why would you say that to yourself? I thought it was a funny question. And he said. I don't want to say it. And I said, I know it's the bags under my eyes. And he was like, yeah. And I was like, okay, don't say that last part.

[1:23:00]But I'm getting. It's pretty good of him to say. That's the thing I would fix right now on my face, I think, is the bags under my eyes. You know what I mean? That's, I think that's, that's. What do you think, Aaron? You can fix anything on your face. What do you fix? I'm not fixing shit, man. The rest of the world's got to look at my face. I don't have to look at my own face. They can deal with it. Whoa. That's like what I realized that every time they draw the sun and it's wearing sunglasses. That's the last one. What's he looking in the mirror? I mean, come on. Why is this sun wearing sunglasses? I think I have lines on my eyes, whatever it is. I don't have to look at it. You have to look at it, right? Yeah. That's crazy. Fix my face. Oh, okay. I would say your nose, man. What about you? What do we fix on the face? I don't know. A lot of things, right? No. I've had two aunts that have had, I think I'm going to get it by the time I'm like 65. I don't know. That have had their eyelids like fall so far that they've had some sort of surgery. It's not like cosmetic.

[1:24:00]It's actually something to hold their eyelids up. And I feel like I'm getting where I'm going to need to have that as well. So what is it? They just chop off part of your eyelid? I don't know. Or if they like pull back. I'm not sure. I mean, so like would it be, let me ask you this. Would it be harder to go to sleep? You know what I mean? Would you go to sleep? Like, would you have to go tighter? Would you close your eyes to go to sleep? You'd be like. Like, it's still. Oh, God. Just can't stretch them all the way. It's like some physical therapy for stretching your eyelids out. I already got all those weights for my foreskin. Now I need them for my eye. Whoever feels like they needs or wants to do any sort of plastic surgery or even like Botox or something, right? Like, God bless you. Do whatever you think. I just, it's, it's not for me at all. I can't, I can't imagine doing anything unless it was like necessary, right? Nothing cosmetic. Just something I would need. Needed to be fixed or something. The problem with doing your face is it's very obvious.

[1:25:00]Like everything else. Like you want to get like liposuction, whatever. I mean, it's going to be obvious if people saw you. Frizzling, butt lift, whatever. Yeah. Grotum tightening. But it's like, you're going to every like celebrity you see that got something Done on their face, you're like, oh yeah, you got something done on your face. You know, I was talking to a, I was talking to that drag queen friend of mine and he was Like, oh yeah, I slept with a guy that had a penile enhancement. And she said it. When she said literally it looked like this, like it was like a, a, a paper towel tube. And then imagine somebody stuffed like a racquetball down there and it kind of bulged in the middle And then went back to tube it up. And he's like, yeah, that's what they did. It wasn't very good. Like he had gotten a cheap penile enhancement surgery. So it was like a snake eating a mouse kind of. Yeah, exactly. That's exactly what it would look like. You'd be like, well, this guy is really going to go off when this guy goes. Listen, when this guy goes off, it's going to be crazy. He's just a. It was like in those old, like Looney Tunes cartoons where they would like kink the hose and then you would see it like all the way down.

[1:26:00]It all worked through. Yeah. All right. All right. Where can't we be friends? This was written by Kay Swift. Kay Swift was one of the first female. It was the first person to email to score a Broadway show. Okay. The way a silly little. She's huge. She scores probably good. I can't excuse it. I would guess so. It's just interesting to listen to now. It sounds like musical theater. Once I listen to this album once, did I have the heart today to go listen to it again? No, too sad. Okay. So that's what I was going to bring up because we'll fix your search optimization with this because this is where I was saying there was some like, there was like kismet that we ended up doing this a little bit later because what album Rob, you should know what album came out today.

[1:27:00]I thought I found. Historically you have no today as in today, like you have daughters, you should know the Olivia Rodrigo. Yeah. I was pretty sad for a girl. So in love this album and that album listening to it back to back, they are, it's basically like she has read, she's made that 21st century version of this album. Really? Yeah, because it starts off. It's my daughter's like she and I like that. We bond over Olivia Rodrigo. We both love her and I try to get tickets. Rob over here. Got his tickets. I thank you. Thank you. I bury tickets and I might throw them away. I might not, but no. So if you, she was like, she gets in the car today and she's like, man, I was really listening to the album. She's like, it's really cool because it like tells a story. I'm like, yeah, that's a concept. She made a concept album for like a pop concept album. So yeah, it starts off. The very first song is she's like super in love with this guy that she saw on the internet.

[1:28:00]She like ends up like kind of stalking him. A little bit on the internet. And then they ended up like going out and it goes through the whole thing of now they're super in love. And then by the end they're broken up and she's like super depressed about the whole thing. And there's a song called cigarette smoke. Exactly. I'm looking at the track list right now. I'm going to listen to, I don't want to listen tomorrow, but I am going to, it's probably not a car ride with the family album, but I'm going to check. Well, as far as Olivia goes, it's pretty tame. But, But yeah, so the second half, cause she also almost, she, sequenced it like an album. So the first half is like side a, she's all in love side B it's like the last song of side a something changes. Side B is all the, now I'm trying to get out of my relationship, but I kind of missed my relationship, but like, yeah, all that. Okay. I mean, the penis is being in the middle. So there's a song called maggots for brains.

[1:29:00]Does she in any way quote maggot brain? No, but I was hoping she did. Okay. Right. And then she does, she's got a song called my way. Yep. And she does a duet. She's got a song on there called the cure. And she does a duet with Robert Smith. Amazing. That's so cool. I got a bad feeling that giving you guys each other's phone numbers is going to lead to a big deal. Okay. This you two have bonded Matt and I are staring at each other. Like, Oh, let's get back to the penis enhancement bit. You know what I mean? Matt's like, I want to talk about my, what I'd fix on my face more. What is this thing called love? Oh no. When your lover is gone. Now this is the end of the song. Cause it's cause at the end of this take Sinatra broke down crying. I do like the Chet Baker. Wow. Say that when he cried after it, Aaron, The only piece of media I cry at now are commercials. Isn't that pathetic? Like that Google commercial at the end of the year, cry every time.

[1:30:00]And it makes me so mad. It makes me so mad. I had a little tear today when there was, I was singing the national anthem, like the, Peruvian or no, Would they play today? National anthem was cool. Wasn't it was great. And they had everybody's singing it. So then the us one came on afterwards and the whole crowd was singing. I don't know who the two guys who sang it were, but it was great. They were like diet, rascal flats. I'm not sure, but it was fun. Have you guys seen what's going on with Algeria and Lawrence, Kansas, where Lawrence, Kansas has just adopted them and is cheering for them. And they're the band, the high school band learned the national anthem. I'm telling you guys get on Tik TOK. It's amazing. Tik TOK is rolling right now. Do you, at the end of this picture, Frank Sinatra crying his little Eyes out, crying his little blue eyes out. Aaron Mike's right. The, the strings kind of just cheese it up so much. Right. I don't want to say that cause those are professionals doing their jobs, but man, I mean, it's of its time, right? Like they were, that was tear rolls down.

[1:31:00]His nose drops onto his pants, onto his enormous 15 pound cock. And he says, ah, not so bad. What is this thing called? Love 21 takes. This funny thing. And then I wrote with heat, low E Porster. So don't know what I was writing there. Oh, man. Put that on the pile with the low post poster. Trouble there. And with that one, is it supposed to be cold Porter? Just yes. Oh, thank you. Porter word. All I was going to say, is it on some, maybe some of the porn school Porter? Well, okay. Remind me of that search later tonight. Last night when we were young, this is recorded a whole year. Earlier than the album for originally, written the song though, Was originally written for the film metropolitan. This album is old guys. We are doing songs that are on metropolitan. Isn't that the movie that has like a robot. That's like when it's back in the thirties, when people are like robots,

[1:32:00]They're like, wait, what? Like, can you imagine explaining a robot to somebody? It's like, it's a machine. That's like a person you'd be like, holy shit. That is crazy. And then you see a robot in a movie. It would blow your mind. You guys don't think. About this stuff, but I do. I'll talk about something weird that I, cause I just read a Kurt Vonnegut novel. That was his very first novel written in 1950. And it was all about AI and how AI is going to take everybody's jobs. Oh, no. Aaron, when you were talking the other day about how it's going to be tokenized. And now I see what's happening. The Claude they're coming out. It's just all, I told, I tell the kids at school, I go, listen, you don't realize it Right now, but you're living in the golden age of AI dude. They got you hooked. And now they're going to. Make you pay for it. Watch the wire. It's the same shit. It's going to be shittier. I'm like, you're not going to be able to take like, and just say, okay, make a Picture of me kissing me, but I'm like younger. Okay. And I'm in like college.

[1:33:00]Oh, we came out of the time machine. Yeah, please. Okay. And I have a 15 pound. All right. I'll be around this arrangement. Literally is a circular riff here. And that's why it's called. I'll be around. Not the one by the spinners. What's the circular riff. What does that mean? That a real thing like around like you start, it's like around you Start before that. I started nice to fast forward to where it is. Yeah. I don't know where it is. All these songs sound the same to me. Well, I'm sorry, Mike, it's the Celesta. So it's just a repetitive thing. It's just like, if you play, like, this is too romantic guys. All of us staring at each other, listening to this music is too much for me. It feels great. Okay. I feel like this is some weird sex party where it's like, listen, we have never actually

[1:34:00]Started a sex party before, but that was a nice spot because I, that, that little Clip that you were just playing, I, I do think that Sinatra really goes to the Limits of what his voice can do on this album over and over again. And I think that's impressive and it gets to the vulnerability. Like he's, he's there's stuff on here. That's not perfect. And it. He went for it. This is what I wrote on that. I wrote what it was? This song has his low E in it. His famous low E Aaron. That's what it was. It was low E Cole Porter. Okay. Oh my God. I just figured it out. Listen to his low E and what is this thing called? Love. He hits a low note here. This funny thing. Oh, that was it. I mean, it is crazy to be able to say, oh next Matt, go ahead. Yep. Mike. Oh my God. Mike. Let's hear it. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh, there's that's where we need Russ for.

[1:35:00]I think Russ could hit Russ. Could do it. Yep. Bring him in. All of a sudden. Oh my God. That's Russell's music. Ill winds. This has jazz slow to jazz solos. Most of this album is Frank Sinatra singing. Like there's not when you get a lot of albums, like there's solos, his name's Right on the album. Yeah. Is he is singing on most of this album. It's not supposed to. But like. But like if we listened to an Adele album, would there be a solo in every Adele song? Do you think? So wait, what? A solo? Do you mean like her solo or like. No, like it's like an instrument. Oh, okay. Like if I listen to a Lizzo, is there a, is there an instrument solo or are these vocalists? Like when your name's on the album, are you like, Hey, no, fuck you. I'm the, I'm the singer. Well, he's yeah. I mean, he's definitely like coming more out of the jazz tradition where every instrument Got a solo, right? Mike.

[1:36:00]Cause that's where the whole, and so that's my other thing that I actually don't like About jazz. And my son knows it. I hate scatting. I think. Me too. Same. So annoying. Yeah. And like, yeah. And it's because like you're doing it because your voice is trying to be one of the instruments, But, and there's like some tasteful scatting, but for the most part, I don't like it. Hate it. Hate vocal jazz. So what about like, I'm not going to make you say bad things about like Cab Calloway. I've decided. I've never entered my mind. Oh, no. So that's what I'm going to say. I mean, that's a little bit different. Cause that's like, yeah. Yeah. I don't like, you don't have to say bad stuff. Guys. Don't all hop it at once. This is from the Broadway show higher and higher Hollywood makes a film version Of Holly higher and higher. And they cut the song Frank Sinatra's in the movie, they cut the song. Shit. I fucked up that story. My bad. Okay. Hand up. Dancing on the ceiling.

[1:37:00]Why are there so many songs about dancing on the ceiling? Because leads us into the second list of the night, right? What's that? Are we going to do a list? Oh yeah. You know what? You're totally right. Time to do a mini list. Songs about dancing on the ceiling. Okay. Dancing on the ceiling. If Lionel Richie's not on this list. If we can make a list without Lionel Richie on it, that'd be impressive. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Number one. We do have the dance down the ceiling video. Okay. And that I'm not saying video. Cause that's how we're playing it. That's actually what it's called. Oh, now do you think when he thought of that rhyme, he was like, we gotta make a song About seeing and feeling, I don't know how we're going to do it, but we got to hook It together. Okay. Next up. Songs about dancing on the ceiling.

[1:38:00]Yeah. There's only one. It's Gerald. There's only one. If it's gerald hello if it's gerald oh they're all gonna be thank you other recordings of this one Gerald of dancing on the ceiling okay it's the same you think it's the same song Oh what a feeling no the sinatra one oh okay that makes more sense It is i gotta say aaron hearing her singing this you do realize Yeah what a real set of pipes sounds like Chet baker thank you dancing on the ceiling okay chet baker dancing on the ceiling okay now we Never will guess what version this is okay let's see all right here we go oh is there Is there a street light on this album cover no it is fun to hear the choices

[1:39:00]Underneath this is fun i like this I like this What do we think of chet baker like oh i love chet baker he's my Not necessarily his voice but his trumpet is my absolute favorite trumpet it's the smoothest Like just he's got the best tone Maybe you've never heard of somebody named mighty boston Okay no i heard you know i i met mighty boston's when i was Actually i was at the vet and i was putting my dog down it was really sad And at the end i had some paw prints made out of plaster And they had them come out and play that's the impression that i get And i was like boy that's a lot and i'm in a bad place right now so i would appreciate this more

[1:40:00]i thought you were going to tell me you were the guy that was in money by boston's that just like the band member that was just on the stage oh yeah the beck family words and music thank you lp i was dancing i was trying to stall with this story i mean i was telling the most ridiculous dumb joke just to get to this point dancing on the ceiling back family the beck family dancing on the ceiling oh this is gonna be gospel it's an album it's gonna be gospel for sure yeah dancing on the ceiling okay now here it is here's the song right here okay is this the titular track okay this is a titular track now this has 540 views man oh okay i do like this go to the comments okay that's jeff from apple valley's favorite part when you go to the comments one of my favorite songs for my father mendy oh there's the slits right there oh that's because

[1:41:00]i click on that album cover every day one of my favorite songs for my father mendy along with my uncles aunts and cousins two years ago oh but it's how do we get up here this go ahead a little this is mendy's favorite song honey put dancing on the ceiling on no no not that one yeah the back family nope not valid magic bike but it comes to singing the best songs about dancing on the scenes on here too ceiling who did it better the back family did it better yes wow russell will be so proud if rob ever wants him back on the podcast wow listen that is opening up a whole bunch of new stuff for list so i gotta say the up we've got songs are on this album i think i thought holy shit go to bed oh we've got i'll

[1:42:00]never be the same okay second to last penultimate track man don't worry can't get to his voice this love of mine this is the one song he co-wrote which is why it has a line like if you had a 15-pound cock in it which not a lot of songs about that yeah so we'll try to find the list you just put it bounce it off the timpani that's the noise it makes aaron when's the best time we listen to this album ever again you think [102:53] not often i mean it's the best time to listen this late at night if you're sitting in your chair

[1:43:00]drinking a whiskey smoking a cigarette and like how often do i do that but you know someday i'll put it on the list again mike what's what's what's what's frankie blue eyes influence in modern music like where do we i mean other than like the obvious like buble and harry connick jr and stuff like that yeah i mean hey listen frank sinatra you make musics that moms are gonna love you know what i mean moms are gonna love the shit that you're helping me no one of the things i read i mean i apparently this is like tom wait's favorite album yes and elvis costello like a bunch of people were just like this is this was like their big influence album but i also think it's i mean i'll be honest like for me it reminds me of like a rainy day in the fall like that's when i listen to this it's like raining it's like you know you just kind of throw it on it's like mellow you're just gonna kind of just chill and listen to the

[1:44:00]rainfall and listen to this getting into a nice warm bed yeah lighting up a marlboro potentially so sleepy oh i can barely smoke i'm so sleepy in this bed oh luckily i bought these sheets off timu they're made out of who knows what i'm sure i'm gonna be fine okay but folks guess what we're gonna be fine too because we're getting to the end of the podcast everybody's favorite section yes it's popular it's patented okay go back in time you want to hear a couple puns about that okay by the way very disappointed brian from east st paul is to text about a little nugget on the end of last week's episode wow we did have an erin i know that you would listen to we did have a caller manny from south st paul did call in and read a article about how the clitoris was mapped out okay so something i thought was a myth the whole

[1:45:00]time that's the thing that happened we put it on the episode that is the thing that happened on our show erin that you are a part of i'm so glad yep it's like if you had a picasso painting then he found out later it was like oh my god i'm so glad i'm so glad i'm so glad i'm so glad i'm so glad in the background of a porn be like well that's not really why i painted it i did picasso painter and what a question to ask you know what i mean tell you one thing you had two years that was a different guy you thought i was gonna make that joke now here's the thing okay is this album at 283 somehow or 282 we're going backwards is it perfect there now erin when this list first came out this album was 100 this was 100 on the list okay it has been knocked way back and we're gonna go back to matt's team tomorrow in the championship game okay when matt goes out there on his knees dwarf style we'll see how that goes is this does this belong to be here if it does that is rolling well toned it's perfect listen it's frank sinatra he's got to be on the

[1:46:00]list okay or is this a rolling groan we do not like this album it should have been lower on the list which of course would be a higher number okay think about it like this you're waking up early in the morning okay to play two hours of piano okay you're waking up at five and you're going back to the four to get to can't make it work aaron but too deep you know what i'm just like those cave divers sometimes when you go into cave dives aaron you know how you get out you don't so you just stop you just stop and you just let but you let yourself die that's what i did with that last joke i was in the cave okay because that unfortunately is the other thing that comes up on my tiktok sometimes is cave diving accidents and they show pictures from the side of these guys going through narrow tubes can't take it it makes me want to pass out okay get me back to cops out running motorcycles please all right so that last joke i did was kind of like a cave diver i just went in hey got silty stopped just stopped we're done with that joke moving on okay or is this a rolling boned it should have been higher up on the list get it

[1:47:00]back up to 100 come on now what are we doing this is frank sinatra rolling well-toned rolling bone rolling grown matt what do you think frank sinatra into the wee hours should be rolling grown i mean this is the only frank sinatra we have two frank ocean wow albums it's blonde at 79 and candle orange at 148 but this is the only frank sinatra album on the list [107:24] i don't know enough about frank sinatra and his discography or whatever you want to call it to know if he actually has better albums if there are other options out there things like that i was gonna ask did they take songs to swim because songs of swinging lovers was also on the old list because that's the one that's gonna have like fly me you make me feel so young and yeah so like it feels like that would have been the album to have on this kind of a thing so i'm gonna say it's rolling grown should definitely be below blue album by weezer but you know i don't

[1:48:00]know i mean it feels like a frank sinatra album should be on here but i don't maybe they i think maybe they got the wrong one and we'll see what happens when they redo the list here and about rolling stone editors being too cool for school they are picking the cool album the one that nobody else is gonna pick no i don't know about that but yeah yeah i feel like it's gonna be. [108:19] hey all the fun frank sinatra songs that you know and actually could make a parody song out of no problem none of those are on here all right aaron what do you think rolling well-toned rolling bone or rolling grown yeah into the wee hours it's wild that this was ever at 100 just for me anything with tempi this low throughout the album is a tough listen i think the band is great sinatra's great but a lot of the songs are just very slow so that's tough for me so yeah i mean sinatra belongs on the list i agree with matt i don't know if this is the right one but we are many years into this thing and it's our first time hearing sinatra and so i'm going to call it rolling well-toned does sinatra belong on the list right i mean we talk about like i mean

[1:49:00]it's it's is this what's the difference between this and like led zeppelin just taking all the songs i think he belongs on the list because i you know you ask about [109:11] what things he influenced and i yes there's like there are direct through lines to harry konick and michael buble and other crooners but it's hard to know all of the lineage of pop music that came from 1950 or 55 on and i i do think the way he does phrasing shows up in hip-hop i think it shows up in indie rock and so i think there are other places where if people hadn't been listening to sinatra music would have been very different so i think he belongs on the list i don't know if it's this one it definitely shouldn't be any higher if it were lower i'd be fine but i think it's fine and rolling well-toned right here mike magic mike 69 of course you started the podcast by quite honestly criticizing us okay okay telling me i was wrong okay now i went back to find that review on itunes

[1:50:00]okay and i was happy to see that of course you had fixed your review to say that i was actually right about a lot of stuff okay but then it seemed like you came on this podcast and you did say i was wrong about something no i wasn't really listening so i don't remember what it was okay but it seems like you've got a real problem okay not telling me that i'm right all the time i mean you're right you just miss a few things i'm just tweaking i'm just it's like it's like the plastic surgeon guy he's just like here's a few things you can fix your other one you're 99 perfect here a little tuck there hey you see how my penis is the same width the whole way i hate that shit okay i want to make it look like it's wearing santa's belt you know what i mean like make it look like i'm taking it to batting practice and it's got a donut on there you know what i mean that's what i want my penis to look like please no but i'm not saying that i'm not saying that i'm not saying that i'm not saying i pounded a couple times the donut comes off okay go ahead sorry i was just saying okay so it is weird it's weird when these albums come up like this one's weird giant steps is weird the kind of blue because it's just it's so different than the rest of the list so it's like

[1:51:00]how is this fitting but it is nice i think that they are trying to sort of give a little just a little taste of jazz to the kids that are in you know i'm not i'm sure kids aren't listening to this but i don't know who listens to rolling okay the middle-aged men that are going through this list but yeah so because i wouldn't have like had i not that's how i discovered this was from being a middle-aged white man from being yeah i was like it kind of it shows up in the mail you're like what's this let me go put it on you're not quite there yet guys but yeah no it was from and it was from another list and it was like oh okay and then i you know and then i appreciated like the historical context where it's like it's the first concept album it's you know it because not only was it really the first concept album

[1:52:00]but it was really just even at the start of albums as like a whole like where people were thinking about albums as like a collection of like songs like even mid going from 45s to 10 inch to 12 inch like even a long play album was new at the time and we've talked about that a ton on this podcast obviously because we're not just going through songs we're going through how the set up and we've seen the masters of it like a billy joel or like a bruce springsteen so to think about like oh you're the first person is to think about okay this one song that's sad with strings where am i going to put it compared to this other song that's sad with strings you know what i mean like how am i going to fit these in there exactly i mean that yeah that's where it is hard where because it's it does sort of like where but but yeah like you yeah you have to sort of figure out what that is and then i was gonna say when with dancing on the ceiling there seemed to be a little bit of a

[1:53:00]it just needs to be on the list somewhere, but I don't, I probably 100 would have been too high up, but, but yeah, I think Frank Sinatra needs to be on there just for the historic, the historical aspect of it. [113:32] Unfortunately, you guys are all incorrect. [113:34] Okay. [113:35] Impossible. [113:35] This one, this one gets our first ever double rating. [113:40] This gets not only a marriage, a rolling, Oh, I forgot the bit. [113:44] This dumbest fucking bit. [113:46] And this actually takes me more time than a lot of my other dumb bits that I do in the show. [113:49] And it's never worth it except for this time. [113:52] Okay. [113:52] Cause this gets a rolling marriage dissolution. [113:55] Oh, okay. [113:56] This marriage was, this marriage was over, but guess what? [113:59] It also gets a rolling huge erection because who cares? [114:02] He's got a massive dong. [114:04] Okay. [114:05] Yeah. [114:06] Guess what? [114:06] I'll sign the divorce papers and put it out of my massive

[1:54:00]dong. [114:09] I'll be fine. [114:10] Okay. [114:11] I famously have a massive dong so much that literally 60 years later, guys are still talking about it on a Friday night. [114:18] Okay. [114:18] Think about what that means for your life. [114:20] Okay. [114:20] And if you think that's bad, who's listening to this, who has listened to two hours and seven minutes of us talking about Frank Sinatra. [114:27] That's the craziest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. [114:29] Next week, we have an album. [114:33] Okay. [114:33] And this album, Aaron actually hit it's by big star. [114:36] We should bring replacements guy back for a big star. [114:39] He's he's, we don't know if he's okay here. [114:42] We haven't, we've asked if he's okay. [114:43] We've gotten no response. [114:45] Okay. [114:45] We're really worried. [114:47] All right. [114:48] I'll send you a picture. [114:49] You'll enjoy. [114:49] Okay. [114:51] All right. [114:51] Good. [114:52] All right. [114:53] This, this album is doubly named though. [114:55] Aaron, it changed names. [114:56] Okay. [114:57] So I get to use one of the names next week and you use the other name. [114:59] One of the names is third. [115:00] And one of them is sister lovers. [115:02] Oh,

[1:55:00]okay. [115:04] Yeah. [115:04] So I'll use third. [115:07] I got third. [115:09] Take it there. [115:10] But you're just too lazy to look it up online. [115:16] Oh, guys who chat and then they get off track. [115:21] I've got, I've got the perfect podcast for you. [115:24] Jack Beck did it better. [115:31] I, I can't think of anything else, but what my penis would look like with a big bulge in the middle. [115:36] And the answer is really great.
